JAMES H. PLATT
Funeral services for James H. Platt, 86, were held Friday, March 4, 2005, in Morrison Memorial Chapel of Dumas. Officiating was the Rev. Kary Prince, pastor of Foxridge Church of God in Amarillo. He was assisted by the Rev. David Carrington, pastor of the United Pentecostal Church of Dumas.
Burial was in Dumas Cemetery.
Mr. Platt died March 2, 2005, in Amarillo.
Born March 2, 1919, in Florida, he was a Dumas resident most of his life.
He married Ida Belle White on Nov. 15, 1997, in Dumas. He was a member of Foxridge Church of God of Amarillo. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Moore County Road and Bridge Department. He retired in 1975. He served in World War II in the Army and received a purple heart.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother and one sister.
The family has requested memorials be made to a favorite charity.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Belle Platt, of the home; a daughter, Charlene Wooldridge of Dumas; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

BRANDON MILLER
Funeral services for Brandon Miller, 30, will be held Monday, March 7, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in the Calvary Baptist Church of Dumas. Officiating will be Pastor Tim Anderson of Burbank, Calif.
Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens of Dumas.
Mr. Miller died Feb. 27, 2005, in Los Angeles, Calif.
Born April 12, 1974, in Dumas, he graduated from El Dorado High School in 1992. He received a bachelor degree in film from college in Santa Fe. He worked with John Schlesinger, a film director in London from 1996-1998. He worked at Estyle in Los Angeles from 1996 to the time of his death as manager of corporate development. From 1995-1996 he was assistant to Marsha Mason, actress. He worked with Shirley MacLaine and assisted Paul McCartney on a music video. He worked on several productions for ABC and CBS.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Bustamante on Feb. 9, 2004, and a brother, Brady Miller in 1990.
The family has requested memorials be made to Calvary Chapel, 2410 W. Olive, Burbank, Calif., 91506.
Survivors include his father, James Miller of Wann, Okla.; a brother, Brett and Clarie Miller of Albuquerque, N. M.; his grandmother, Juanita Miller of Wann; aunt and uncle, Bill and Janice Ferguson, their children, Kelly and Clay Ferguson, an uncle, Jack Carter and his children, Jennifer and Amy, of Amarillo; two nieces and nephews, Shelby, Kyleigh, Ty and Tanner; and friend Kara Cote and family of Albuquerque.

CLEO COATNEY
Funeral services for Cleo Coatney, 84, were held Saturday, March 5, 2005, in the Temple Baptist Church of Dumas. Officiating was J McGaughy, pastor.
Burial was in Dumas Cemetery.
Mr. Coatney died March 3, 2005, in Dumas.
Born July 31, 1920, in Green Forrest, Ark., he was a Dumas resident since 1949.
He was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Dumas. He worked for the sanitation department of the City of Dumas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a purple heart.
He married Nadine Dainty on Sept. 20, 1941. She preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 2001.
The family has requested memorials be made to a favorite charity.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce and Archie Davis of Metamora, Ill., and Donna and Jay Hardcastle of Brady; two sons, Allen and Connie of Dumas and James and Medley Coatney of Sour Lake; two sisters, Daisy Wallace of Goodman, Mo., and Rosie Ward of Neodesha, Kan.; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

BEN HAWKINS
Memorial services for Ben Hawkins, 62, will be held Sunday, March 6, 2005, in Morrison Memorial Chapel of Dumas. Officiating will be the Rev. Eddie Tubbs, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dumas.
Mr. Hawkins died March 3, 2005, in Dumas.
Born Sept. 28, 1942, in Hayworth, Okla., he was a Dumas resident all of his life.
Mr. Hawkins retired from Diamond Shamrock as a lab technician. He served in the Navy from 1961-1966 and the Air Force from 1966-1973.
He married Caroline Lake on Aug. 1, 1965, in Odessa. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dumas.
The family has requested memorials be made to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, Texas 79029 or Meals on Wheels, P. O. Box 1535, Dumas, Texas 79029.
Survivors include his wife, Caroline, of the home; two daughters, Frances and Mike Pierson of San Antonio and Charlsie and Glenn Webb of Eastland; a son, Nathan and Sandra Hawkins of San Antonio; a brother, Billy and Donna Hawkins of Dumas; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchldren.

FRANK CHARLES ELLIOTT
Funeral services for Frank Charles Elliott, 73, were held Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in the Church of The Nazarene. The Rev. Steve Swanson, pastor, officiated. The Rev. Rodney Riggan will assist.
Burial was in Dumas Cemetery.
Mr. Elliott died Saturday, March 26, 2005, in Dumas.
Born June 2, 1931, in Aurora, Mo., he had been a Dumas resident since 1994. He married Imagene Crabb on Aug. 12, 1955, in Dumas. He was a longtime member of the Church of The Nazarene and was active in the ministry for over 35 years before retiring in 1994.
The family has requested memorials be made to the Nazarene World Missions, 402 S. Porter, Dumas, Texas 79029.
Survivors include his wife, Imagene Elliott, of the home; one daughter, Patti and Tony Gaertner of Vacaville, Calif.; three sons, Charles and Debbie Elliott of Oklahoma City, Okla., Raymond and Cathy Elliott of Lakewood, Wash., and David and Julie Elliott of Overland, Kan.; two brothers, Ulys and Shirley Elliott of Bakersfield, Calif., and Howard and Margaret Elliott of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Dorothy and Carl Yount of Moberly, Mo., and eight grandchildren.

O. W. “DUB” ADAMS
Graveside services for O. W. “Dub” Adams, 63, of Dumas, were held Monday, March 28, 2005, in Memorial Park East Mausoleum in Amarillo. The Rev. Lu Laster, pastor of Joy Fellowship Church officiated.
Mr. Adams died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, in Dumas.
Born July 7, 1941, to Vergie Roberts and Pierceson Adams in Frederick, Okla., he was a Moore County resident for more than 30 years. He married Anna Gaines on Feb. 14, 1964, in Bovina. He worked as an operator for Diamond Shamrock.
Survivors include his wife, Anna, of the home; one daughter, Debbie and Randal Laney, of Amarillo; one son, Jeff and Denise Adams ,of Lawton, Okla.; two brothers, Terry Adams of San Antonio and Jack Adams, of Houston; one sister, Martha Jackson, of Lubbock, and four grandchildren.

DOUGLAS ANDREW “DOUG” LOHSE
Funeral services for Douglas Andrew “Doug” Lohse, 62, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2005, in Calvary Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Brad Foster, pastor.
Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens of Dumas.
Mr. Lohse died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in Dumas.
Born in Nixon on Feb. 27, 1943, he attended high school in Fredericktown, Mo. He served in the Air Force in Korea and Washington from 1961 to 1966 and in 1970 he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He married Doris Bollinger on May 11, 1963, in Fredericktown.
He lived in Nixon, Fredericktown, Blaine, Wash., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Blue Springs, Mo., Amarillo and had been a resident of Dumas since 1976. He worked for Bechtel Corporation for five years, Diamond Shamrock Oil and Gas for 12 years and Maxus Oil and Gas for eight years until his retirement in1995. He also held a real estate license since 1978.
He was a life-member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of the Dumas Masonic Lodge #1009 and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
The family will be at 1000 Phillips Drive.
The family has requested memorials be to the Disabled American Veterans, P. O. Box 145447, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-5447 or the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, Tex. 79109.
Survivors include his wife, Doris, of the home; two daughters, Kimberly and Scott Palser of Dumas and Karissa and Chad Estes of Amarillo; his parents, Andrew and Ruth Lohse of Dumas; two brothers, Donald and Andrea Lohse and Ronald and Carol Lohse all of St. Louis, Mo., and three grandchildren.

NELL JONES
Funeral services for Nell Jones, 85, will be held Friday, April 1, 2005, at 2 p.m., in the First Christian Church. The Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in Perryton.
Born Aug. 5, 1919, in Celina, to Laura M. Comer and James Valentine Roberts, she moved to Dumas in 1920. She graduated from Dumas High School in 1937 and on Nov. 25, 1937, she married Everett A. Jones in the first marriage ceremony performed in the First Christian Church.
She was an avid bowler who loved to play bridge and had the distinction of serving on the first all woman jury in Dumas. She served as president of the Dilettante Study Club, secretary for the Dumas Cemetery Association for many years and as a bookkeeper for Sherwin Williams. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, in October 1966.
The family will be at 517 Zauk.
The family has requested memorials be made to the First Christian Church, 423 S. Maddox, Dumas, Texas 79029.
Survivors include two sons, Jim and Linda Jones, of Fort Lupton, Colo., and Tommy and Betty Sue Jones, of Booker; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-child.

ANTONIO “TONY” MENDOZA
Rosary services for Antonio “Tony” Mendoza, 34, were held Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, in Boxwell Brothers Memorial Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery.
Mr. Mendoza died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, in Dumas.
Born Feb. 21, 1971, to Miguel and Gavina (Garcia) Mendoza in San Angelo, he had been employed as a shag driver for Monfort.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
The family will be at 705 E. 1st in Dumas.
Survivors include one son, Tony Mendoza; one daughter, Tonica Mendoza, of the home; his father, Mike Mendoza, Sr., of Portales, N. M.; five brothers, Mike Mendoza, Jr., Freddie and Rosemary Mendoza and Victor and Lydia Mendoza, all of San Angelo, Tommy Mendoza of Dumas and Richard Mendoza of Amarillo; four sisters, Mary and Manuel Estrada of Dumas, Katie Gonzalez of Cheyenne, Okla., Gracie Zubia of Dumas, Vivian and Frank Martinez of Amarillo; four half brothers, Martin Mendoza, Juan Mendoza, Albert Mendoza and Benny Mendoza, all of Portales; a half sister Gloria Rodriguez, of Portales; special sister-in-law, Hilda Mendoza, and special aunt, Candy Mendoza, both of San Angleo; 34 nieces and nephews and 59 great-nieces and nephews.

ERVIN R. SHOULDERS
Funeral services for Ervin R. Shoulders, 72, of Sunray, will be held Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the Sunray Baptist Church. The Rev. Philip Hilton, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery of Sunray.
Mr. Shoulders died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, in Sunray.
Born May 10, 1933, in Idabel, Okla., he had been a resident of Sunray since 1955.
Mr. Shoulders was a farmer for more than 20 years before going to work for Sherman County. He was an avid fisherman.
He married Bette Rae Folsom on Feb. 17, 1956, in Sunray and was a long-time member of the Sunray Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bette Rae Shoulders, of the home; three daughters, Shelia and Rusty Russell of Dalhart, Linda Reeves of Edmond, Okla., Dawna and Danny Roach of Friona; two sons, Rusty and Debbie Shoulders of Texhoma, and Brent and Linda Shoulders of Goodwell, Okla.; one brother, James Shoulders of Mountain Home, Idaho; a sister, Juanita and C. E. Gay of Valliant, Okla.; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be at 300 Ave. R, Sunray.

NIXIE ROBERTSON
Funeral services for Nixie Robertson, 72, will be held Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, in the Bible Baptist Church of Dumas. Officiating will be Jerald Chadwick, close family friend and pastor of Central Baptist Church of Amarillo. He will be assisted by Pastor Rick Korsmo, pastor of the Dumas church.
Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery.
Mrs. Robertson died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, in Dumas.
Born Nov. 30, 1932, she had been a Dumas resident since 1951.
She was a very committed homemaker and mother. She and her husband, Shorty, were loving, hard-working, devoted parents who considered it their duty to instill a sense of faith, purpose, honesty and responsibility in their children. She later worked outside the home as a secretary-dispatcher for a trucking company, as a salesperson in a jewelry store and as a desk clerk in a motel. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Dumas and later a member of Bible Baptist Church in Dumas.
The family has requested memorials be made to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, Texas 79029.
Survivors include her husband, R. L. Robertson, of the home; three daughters, Linda Hamlin of Mt. Pulaski, Ill., Glenna and S. D. Rummel of Fritch, and Suzanne and Glenn Roberts of Springfield, Va.; one son, Tim Robertson, of Dumas; a brother, John and Donna Key of Yreka, Calif.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; an aunt, Nellie Weathers of Valliant, Okla.; a nephew, Mike Key of Calif., and her beloved 4-legged friends, Heidi, Missy and Alex.
