ROBERTO BARRAZA
Rosary for Roberto Barraza, 30, of Stratford, were Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratford. Mass was held Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at 9 a.m.
Burial was in the Stratford Cemetery in Stratford.
Mr. Barraza died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006.
Born Nov. 18, 1975, in Dumas, to Eustacio and Esperanza Barraza, he worked as a laborer for Murphy Farms. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by a son, Roberto Barraza, Jr., of Odessa; his parents, Eustacio and Esperanza Barraza of Stinnett; four brothers, Julian Barraza of Stratford, Manuel Barraza of Goodwell, Okla., Vicente Barraza of Clinton, Okla., and Jose Barraza of Stratford; three sisters, Carmen Leyva, Elvira, Aldana and Alma Barraza, all of Dumas.
Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Stratford was in charge of funeral arrangements.

DON MCCUTCHAN
Funeral services for Don McCutchan, 79, of Dumas, were held Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, in the Life Tabernacle Church. The Rev. Mark Wallis, pastor, officiated.
Burial was in Dumas Cemetery.
Mr. McCutchan died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, in Dumas.
Born Dec. 13, 1926, in Bovina, he had been a resident of Dumas since 1953. He married Nada Fowlkes on Sept. 18, 1946, in Clayton, N. M.
He joined the Merchant Marines in 1944. He worked for Diamond Shamrock/Valero for 38 years retiring in 1991. After retirement he enjoyed his woodworking shop. He was a charter member of Life Tabernacle Church and was involved in the building of the church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dorvel McCutchan, and great-grandson, Traydon McCutchan, as well as his parents, one brother and one sister.
The family will be at 513 Bennett.
The family has requested memorials be made to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second Street, Dumas, Texas 79029.
Survivors include his wife, Nada, of the home; two sons, Leroy and Shirley McCutchan, of Dumas and Belvin and Pam McCutchan, of Borger; two brothers, D. A. (Buster) McCutchan, of Dumas and Bobby McCutchan, of Erueka, Calif.; three sisters, Cuma Frochen of Ukiah, Calif., Betty Ledford of Springdale, Ark., and Leone Smith of Manteca, Calif., and one daughter-in-law, Tracy McCutchan, of Dumas; seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas was in charge of funeral arrangements.

TOBY SIMON MOORE
Memorial service for Toby Simon Moore, 48, formerly of Stratford, will be held Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Stratford.
Mrs. Moore died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, in a Fort Worth nursing facility.
Born Oct. 15, 1957, in Charleston County, S. C., she was reared in Mount Pleasant, S. C. She moved to Stratford after marrying Bill Moore on Nov. 15, 1978. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed life with her family and pets.
She spent her working years assisting and caring for others as a Home Health Assistant.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Moore, in 1993; her mother Adele Ruth Simon, and a sister, Carla Bulwinkle.
Survivors include sons, Cliff Moore of Clovis, N. M., Cody and Kristen Moore of Abilene, and Craig and Ashton Moore of Denton; her father, Marion Bulwinkle, Sr.; sisters, Cheryl Garris, Sandy Causey and Arlene Kelly; a brother, Marion Bulwinkle, Jr., a grandson, Corden Moore of Denton, and numerous nieces, nephews and family members in Texas and on the East Coast.
Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel of Weatherford, is in charge of funeral arrangements.

JOSHUA C. ALONZO
A mass for Joshua C. Alonzo, 21, of Dumas, was held Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Dumas.
Burial was in Northlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Alonzo died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, in Iraq.
He was born Nov. 2, 1985, in Amarillo, to John and Alicia Alonzo. He graduated from Dumas High School in 2004. He served in the U.S. Marines in Iraq.
Survivors include his mother, Alicia Alonzo and step-father, Daniel Ruiz, of Dumas; his father, John Alonzo of Amarillo; brother, Nicholas and Gaylene Alonzo of Albuquerque, N. M.,; a sister, Erica Alonzo-Rizzi of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; grandparents, Jesus and Rafaela Chavez of Dumas, and a nephew Joshua Alonzo of Albuquerque, N. M.

EVELYN “SHAWN” MCKIBBEN
Graveside services for Evelyn “Shawn” McKibben, 42, of Beeville, formerly of Dumas, were held Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, in Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville. Officiating was the Rev. Jonathan Rhodes.
Mrs. McKibben died Nov. 12, 2006.
Born March 19, 1964, in Amarillo, she married Michael McKibben on Jan. 21, 2001, in Beeville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Trinity Christian Center. She attended Dumas High school and enjoyed reading and gardening. She was active in Moore County 4-H and during her membership she received many awards for clothing and textile and food nutrition.
Survivors include her husband, Michael McKibben of Beeville; her mother, Sharon and Wilfred Scroggs of Dumas; her father, Dewey and Linda Hutcherson of Plainview; two sons, Christopher Sloss and Dustin Sloss and companion Amy, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Sharie “YoYo” Sloss of Dumas; a grandmother, Evelyn Shelton of Dumas; two brothers, Dewey II and Rhonda Hutcherson of Dumas and Tracy Hutcherson of Raleigh, N. C., a sister, Boniene Scroggs of Dallas, and three grandchildren.
The family has requested memorials be made to Decision Ministries International, 407 Phillips Dr., Dumas, Texas 79029.
Angelus Funeral Home of Beeville, was in charge of funeral arrangements.

LOUIS B. SCOTT
Services for Retired Marine Maj. Louis B. Scott, 86, were held Nov. 17, 2006, in the Eternal Hills Memorial Chapel in Oceanside, Calif.
Burial was in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park, with military Funeral Honors.
Mr. Scott died on Nov. 12, 2006, in Oceanside.
Born in 1919, near Channing, as Lyman Bivins Scott, he took the name of Louis in honor of his father, Lewis Moses “Pistol” Scott. Louis’ mother was the former Estelle Hodges. His given names, Lyman and Bivins, were derived from the Lyman and Bivins cattle ranches, where his father had worked over the years as a Panhandle cowboy.
Mr. Scott was an outstanding athlete at Channing High School, playing basketball, track, tennis and softball. After graduation he worked on the railroad before joining the Marines in 1939. Three years later he married Panhandle native Ethel Lois Crawford, who also had been a top athlete at Channing High School.
He fought in several campaigns during World War II in the Pacific Theater, including on Guadalcanal, Guam, Bouganville and Iwo Jima. For the latter, he was aboard ship, 300 yards off the coast, when the American flag was raised atop Munt Suribachi in one of the war’s most iconic moments. Horns and whistles blew across the island in the response to the scene, Scott recalled. He joined the fighting on the campaign’s seventh day.
After the war the Scotts returned to the Panhandle, where Louis worked at a petrochemical plant and was a standout player for Cactus, in the North Plains Athletic Association, a regional baseball league.
When the Korean conflict broke out, he was called back to active duty with the Marines and was immediately promoted to captain. After serving in Korea he returned to the States, concluding his military career with postings in San Diego, Alameda, Calif., Quantico, Va., and Camp Lejeune, N. C.
Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Lois Scott, in 2004.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, W. C. “Dub” and Mildred Crawford of Springville, Calif., a cousin, John Long, of San Francisco; nephews, Bob Crawford of Glendale, Ariz., Randy Hunter of Springfield, Mo., and Randy’s sons, Daniel and David Hunter, and Glenn Hunter of Dallas and Glenn’s daughter, Sachiko Hunter of Portland, Maine; a niece, Sandy Halbert of Alberton, Mont., and Sandy’s children, Army Sgt. First Class Toby Hunter of Key West, Fla, and Kristen Halbert of Alberton.

MARY E. “BABE” SMITH
Graveside services for Mary E. “Babe” Smith, 91, were held Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart. Officiating was Dan Martin, minister of the Liberty Baptist Church of Dalhart.
Mrs. Smith died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, in Dalhart.
Mrs. Smith was born June 11, 1915, in Leedey, Okla., to John and Ada May (Wilkins) Switzer. She moved to the Middlewater area in 1932. She married W. S. “Red” Smith on March 20, 1935. She worked as the postmaster in Middlewater for 30 years, retiring in 1976. She moved into Dalhart in 1979.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, W. S. “Red” Smith, in 1967.
Survivors include sons John and Edna Smith of Dumas, Zeno and Bobbie Smith of Las Animas, Colo., and George and Mary Ann Smith of Alliance, Neb.; daughters, Bertha and Jerry Gustin of Dalhart and Ann Fenton of Amarillo; a brother, Kenneth and LaNell Switzer of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
Horizon Funeral Home, Inc., of Dalhart was in charge of funeral arrangements.

MEREDITH H. “MERT” BROWN
Funeral services for Meredith M. “Mert” Brown, 79, of Stratford, were held Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, in the First Baptist Church. Officiating was a former pastor and pastor of Cornerstone Fellowship in Lamesa, Jerry Stewart.
Burial was in Stratford Cemetery. Flag detail was by the American Legion Post 224 of Dumas.
Mr. Brown died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, in Amarillo.
Born June 10, 1927, in Clarendon, he was a farmer and rancher.
He married Corethia McAdams who died in 1978. He also was preceded in death by a grandson, Luke Williams, in 1992.
Mr. Brown grew up east of Claude in the Fairview Community. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. occupational forces in Japan. After living in the Claude, Sunray and Dumas areas, he settled with his family in Stratford in 1968.
The family has requested memorials be made to the First Baptist Church or the Stratford Area Foundation or the Stratford Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, D’Lynn and Ricky Reed of Stratford and Cherie and Gregg Williams of Canyon; two sons, James and Bonnie Brown of Dalhart and David and Janice Brown of Stratford;; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

BECKY KNIGHT RAYMOND
Funeral services for Becky Knight Raymond, 43, were held Thursday, March 8, 2007, in Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home in Kaufman. Officiating was the Rev. Todd Peavy.
Burial was on Friday, March 9, 2007, in Stratford Cemetery. Officiating was Rodney Weatherly.
Mrs. Raymond died March 5, 2007, in Dallas.
Born March 22, 1963, in Dumas, to Kenneth Knight and Jimmie Dale Davis, she was reared in Stratford.
She attended Amarillo College, studying medical administration. She moved to Dallas where she worked for Baylor Medical Center and then moved to Kaufman in 1990 where she was a member of the Cottage Heights Baptist Church. She married Rickey Raymond in Kaufman on Oct. 18, 1990.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Bob Knight and a sister, Debbie Knight.
Survivors include her husband, Rickey, of Kaufman; her mother, Dale Proctor of Dalhart; her father, Kenneth Knight of Stratford; a brother, Roy Knight of Dalhart; a stepsister, Tammie Gerber of Bushland and may other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home in Kaufman.

DOROTHY LYNN “SETTLES” JACOBS
Funeral services for Dorothy Lynn “Settles” Jacobs, 90, of Dumas, will be held Monday, March 12, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Felt Baptist Church in Felt, Okla. The Rev. Billy Ed Rammage will officiate.
Burial will be in the Bertrand Cemetery.
Mrs. Jacobs died Thursday, March 8, 2007.
Born Oct. 23, 1916, in Texhoma, Okla., to James Henry and Nell Settles, she had worked as a lab technician at NWTH and Cimmaron County Hospital. She also had worked as a nursing home administrator in Texhoma and Clayton, N. M.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd G. Jacobs, and a son, James Mikel Jacobs.
The body will be available for viewing and the family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. to noon.
The family requests memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association Panhandle Chapter, 1400 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, Texas, 79106 or the American Lung Association of Texas, 3520 Executive Center Drive Suite G-100, Austin, Texas.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn Lee and Carolyn Jacobs of Pampa, and John and Susan Bowen of Glendale, Ariz., a sister, Marian Lea Settles of Florida; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

KESAO “YOKO” INOUE DOAK
Funeral services for Kesao “Yoko” Inoue Doak, 61, of Stinnett, will be held Monday, March 12, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the First Assembly of God Church of Stinnett. The Rev. Billy Snider, pastor, will officiate. He will be assisted by the Rev. Dennis Richardson, associate pastor.
Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery.
Mrs. Doak died Thursday, March 8, 2007, in Dumas.
Born Feb. 25, 1946, in Miyazaki, Japan, on June 21, 1974, she married Fred Doak in San Diego, Calif., and had been a Stinnett resident since 1977. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Stinnett.
The family will be at 218 Cedar in Dumas. They request memorials be made to the First Assembly of God Church, Box 667, Stinnett, Texas 79083.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Doak, of the home; two sons, Michael and Staci Doak and Mark Doak, all of Dumas; three sisters and one brother, all of Japan, and three grandchildren, Skyler, Larissa and Hannah Doak, who called her Ginny.
