Margo Hennicke

Our sister, Margot Hennicke died Sept. 11, 2000 at home in Little Elm after a long, courageous, spirited battle with cancer.

Margot was born Dec. 20, 1952 in Germany. She lived in Milwaukee but spent most of her life in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This multi-talented woman worked as a hair stylist in many top salons, catered special events, designed and made jewelry, did home health care for the aged and owned Chocolates by Margot.

She is survived by a father and stepmother in Milwaukee, Hans and Maria Hennicke; son, Aaron Miller of Lewisville; siblings, Heinz, Marlisa, Eva of the Dallas area and Christina Munson of Seattle. Ariana and Tory Ortegren and Alissa Haus gave much to take care of their auntie Margot.

We prayed that God would end her physical pains and struggles. We are so grateful that she was surrounded, at home, by those who loved her in the last few hours of this earthly journey.

At last, in the arms of Peace and Love.

Free as a butterfly.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 at Denton Community Church with Wayne Stiles officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Denton under the direction of Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home.

William Lofton

Decatur -- William "Raymond" Lofton, 81, of Decatur, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000.

He was born July 8, 1919, in Alvarodo.

Mr. Lofton received a Purple Heart in World War II. He retired from the Permian Corporation as a truck driver and was a member of Immanual Baptist Church in Decatur.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Immanual Baptist Church with Lee Roy Jackson officiating. Louis Horton will assist. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 14, at Coker Funeral Home.

Survivors include wife, Josephine Hicks Lofton; sons, Douglas R., Melvin G. Hicks, Ricky Williams; daughters, Kathy Beckman, Janetha Machola; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gabe and Joel Hicks, Ronnie and Clifford Lambert, Craig Shaw and Randy Cross. Mr. Lofton was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth.

Bessie Moncrief

Bessie Powell Moncrief, 103, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Good Samaritan Village.

She was born Oct. 5, 1896, in Marietta, Okla., to W.B. and Emma (Knight) Powell.

She married Emory Otis Moncrief in Ardmore, Okla. Mr. Moncrief died in 1957.

Mrs. Moncrief retired after 25 years of service in the classified department of the Dallas Morning News. Mrs. Moncrief was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas with the Rev. John Bruce officiating.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today, at Mulkey-Mason Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home.

Survivors include, son, Monte Powell Moncrief of Kingsville; sister, Virginia Morgan of Cleburn; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Son, Billy Moncrief died in April of 1998.

Elinor Reinmiller

Elinor Calmbach Reinmiller, 81, of Denton, died Monday Sept. 4, 2000, at Denton Community Hospital.

She was born Aug. 29, 1919, in Oswega, Kan., to William Garfield Calmbach and Clara (Burns) Calmbach.

Mrs. Reinmiller was a librarian at Southwestern Medical School of Dallas. She was a member of the Garden Twilight Club and the Humane Society.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 16 in the Chapel of Schmitz-Floyd-Anderson with the Rev. James Johnson officiating.

Jeffrey Mitchell

Jeffrey Dean Mitchell, 43, lost his battle against lung cancer and died Sept. 12, 2000 at All Saints Episcopal hospital in Fort Worth. Mr. Mitchell was born Aug. 10, 1957 in Wichita, Kan., to Marilyn Reeves.

He is survived by his parents Ms. Marilyn Reeves of Ponder, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Crews of North Wilkesboro, N.C. and Mr. Ronald Reeves of Arkansas City, Kan. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters, Jeannine Hull of Cambridge, Kan., Wynona Adams of North Wilkesboro, N.C., Juanita Dolph of Ponder, Charles MacCready of Wilkesboro, N.C., Gregory Crews of Boomer, N.C., Deanna Andes of Winfield, Kan., Frances Meisinger of Ponder, Scott Reeves of Ponder and Melissa Reeves of Denton. He is also survived by various aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and his specially beloved niece, Destanie Reeves.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Jeffrey's name to Hospice.

There will be a memorial service and visitation on Friday, Sept. 15 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Goen-Hudgens Funeral Home located at 320 West Oak Street in Denton.

Vada Mae DeFoor

Vada Mae DeFoor, 75, of Denton died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Medical Plaza Hospital in Fort Worth.

Mrs. DeFoor was born July 11, 1925, in Megargel to T.W. and Audrey (Poole) Kunkel.

She married Ira T. DeFoor on May 8, 1948, in St. Patrick's Cathedral of Fort Worth. She attended Megagrel High School and North Texas Teachers College. She was a Catholic. She was employed by Williams Dickey, the American Red Cross, the Blackstone Hotel and Moore Business Forms.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, in the chapel of Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen with the Rev. Alton Donsbach officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. in Megargel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Sept. 15, at Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home.

Survivors include husband, Ira T. DeFoor of Denton; daughter, Kelley Jane DeFoor of San Jose, Calif.; son Lanny Paul DeFoor of Denton and son Ronald DeFoor of Sanger; and sister, Georgia Ann Kerr of Austin.

Memorials can be made to Ann's Haven Hospice, 216 W. Mulberry, Denton, Texas, 76201.

Charles Krantz

Charles Krantz, 88, of Denton died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Denton Community Hospital.

He was born June 5, 1912, in Renner to Fred and Liza (Ratliff) Krantz.

He married Ruth Roland Pittsinger on Sept. 1, 1944. Mrs. Krantz died Sept. 1, 1989.

Mr. Krantz was a welder for Trinity Steel in Denton.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason Jack Schmitz and Son with the Rev. Mike Parkman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Sept. 15, at the funeral home.

Survivors include daughter, Lois Bailey of Lake Dallas; son, Charles Krantz of Denton; three sisters, Mildred Starr of Denton, Annie Krantz and Liz Foreman of Copan; brother, Clyde Krantz of Lodi, Calif.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mary Pierce

Van -- Mary Maciel Pierce, 57, of Lake Dallas died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000.

Mrs. Pierce was born May 29, 1943 in Pruitt to Vincente "Ben" and Josephine Cortez Maciel.

She graduated from Van High School but lived most of her life in Lake Dallas. She worked there as a tax specialist.

Services were at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 15, in the chapel of Bartley Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Winskie officiating.

Visitation was Thursday evening, Sept. 14, at the funeral home.

Survivors include husband, Frank Pierce; six brothers, Frank Maciel, Fernando Maciel, Joe Maciel, Mickey Maciel, Raymond Maciel and Cruz Maciel; two sisters, Connie Lewis, Lupe Whitaker and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles Krantz

Charles Krantz, 88, of Denton died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Denton Community Hospital.

He was born June 5, 1912, in Renner to Fred and Liza (Ratliff) Krantz.

Jerry T. Porter

Decatur -- Jerry Thomas Porter, 57, of Decatur, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Denton Community Hospital.

He was born July 11, 1943, in Dos Palos, Calif.

Mr. Porter married Debi Ashley July 18, 1979, in Denton. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and the Greenwood Masonic Lodge. He was the owner of Progressive Plumbing Service.

Graveside services were at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 16, in Oaklawn Cemetery with Van Gardner officiating.

Survivors include his wife; his father, J.D. Porter of Decatur; three sons, Jeff Porter of Mt. Springs, and Todd and Brad Porter of Decatur; a daughter, Marla Hill of Columbus, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Curtis Anderson, Jackie Boyd, Sonny McCarmack, Matthew Knarr, Roland Stodola and Delmus Looney.

Margaret Smith

Margaret L. Smith, 92, of Denton died Sept. 15, 2000, at Good Samaritan Health Center.

She was born in Missouri on Sept. 12, 1908, to Fred and Angie Sanderson. She married Howard W. Smith in 1927. They made their home in Grandby, Mo. Mr. Smith died in 1983.

She is survived by her son, Howard W. Smith Jr. of Denton; two brothers; and six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons and two brothers.

Services and burial will be Monday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. in Granby, Mo., under the direction of Clark's Funeral Home. Visitation in Grandby will be Sunday, Sept. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation in Denton will be today, Sept. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Home.

Edward Bacon

Edward Eugene Bacon, Sr., 78, of Lewisville, died Sept. 13, 2000. He was born Sept. 19, 1921 in Gunter, to Eddie Lee and Grace Louise Bacon, and moved to Lewisville in 1927. He attended Midway Grade School and Lewisville High School. He entered the military service in 1942 and was in the U.S. Army 743rd Tank Battalion. On Nov. 13, 1943, he left New York for England to train for invasion of France. He participated in D-Day on Omaha Beach and Normandy Beach in 1944, where he fought for 16 hours against overwhelming enemy fire at the risk of being engulfed by the rising tide. Attached to the First Infantry Division, his battalion was briefed to lead the attack on the beach. He was one of the few C.W. radio operators to land on D-Day. He served throughout the bulk of the fighting in forward CP's, often under fire, always in range of enemy guns. His efficiency and courage were in accord with the highest tradition of the armed forces. He advanced through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany to the Elbe River. He earned five Battle Stars and one Bronze Star including many other medals and awards.

He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 9168. He was married in 1947 for 22 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Betty Jean and husband Danny Bryant of Lake Dallas; daughter, Cheryl Bacon of Calif.; daughter Kathy and husband Tony Welton of Lewisville; son Edward "Eddie" Bacon Jr. and wife Marlou of N.C.; son Brian Bacon and wife Jamie of Lewisville; son Bruce Bacon of Addison; sister Dorothy Bacon of Lewisville; sister Estelle and husband Gayle Albritton of Granite Shoals; brother Charles Ray Bacon (deceased) and wife Helen of Lewisville; aunt Era Bacon of Carrollton; aunt Mamie Bacon Croy of Decatur; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He retired from Better Monkey Grip after 36 years as a supervisor of the tread rubber department. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He received Father of the Year award from the VFW. He loved sports and rarely missed the Farmer football games. Through the years he always helped people with whatever their needs would be.

His courage and fight for life was commendable.

Pallbearers will be Joe Bryant, Randy Bryant, Zackary Welton, Jeremy Welton, Jack Suggs, Jeff Suggs, Jerry Suggs and Corbett Bacon.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home of Lewisville. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Temple Baptist Church in Lewisville. Interment will follow in Old Hall Cemetery of Lewisville.

Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home of Lewisville is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph Dugas

Joseph G. Dugas, 73, of Denton died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 22, 1927, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to Albert Dugas and Jennie L. Wright Dugas. He married Bertha Luskis in 1948 in Haverhill, Mass.

He retired from Moore Business Forms as a manager and research associate. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1948. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Charles King officiating.

DeBerry Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Survivors include his wife of Denton; two daughters, Darlene A. Hilton of Decatur, and Colleen D. Huntley of Danville, Calif.; a sister, Patricia Wyman of Haverhill, Mass.; a brother, Ronald Dugas of Sandown, N.H.; and four grandchildren.
