Krum - Jean Watson, 70, of Krum, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.

Martha G. Johnston

Martha G. Johnston, 82, of Denton, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at Denton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

She was born Feb. 18, 1918, in Hico, Texas, to Ernest and Emma Wagner Dittrich.

Mrs. Johnston was an elementary school teacher in Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District until her retirement in 1979 following 37 years of teaching. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Roselawn Memorial Park.

The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, Oct. 2, for visitation.

Survivors include her daughter, Candy Blagg and husband W.J. Blagg Jr. of Denton; one granddaughter, Sheri McBee and husband Gary McBee of Denton; and two great-grandchildren, Megan McBee and Cody McBee of Denton. Two sisters, Ruth Arrington and Cedonia Dittrich, and one brother, E.C. Dittrich, are deceased.

Wallace Grimes

Sanger - Wallace T. Grimes, 76, of Sanger, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at Care Inn of Sanger.

Mr. Grimes was born Sept. 13, 1924, in Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 3, in Sanger Cemetery.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Francis Grimes of Olathe, Kan.

Alla Lou Etta Hill

Aubrey - Alla Lou Etta Gotcher Hill, 65, of Aubrey, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at her residence.

Mrs. Hill was born April 19, 1935, in Denton County, to George and Maggie (Brazier) Jones. She retired from Denton State School.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Apostolic Lighthouse Church with B.G. Insall and the Rev. Kent Oliver officiating. Interment will follow in Belew Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Owens, Harold Owens, Larry Colwick, Kent Oliver, Chris Campbell and Tony Carroll.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home.

Survivors include her sons, Dennis Dwayne Gotcher Sr. of Denton, Michael Dwight Gotcher Sr. of Krum, and Randy Don Hill of Aubrey; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

William Morris

William "Bill" Irvin Morris, 47, of Denton, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 23, 1952, in Dallas, to Paul and Bonnie Mae Shields Morris.

Mr. Morris served in the U.S. Army for 20 years retiring in 1991. He was a security officer with Morrison Milling and attended the McKinney Street Baptist Church.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at McKinney Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Black officiating.

Pallbearers will be Cody Powell, Jeff Powell, Bob Lowrance, John Sims, Dwayne Sims and Randy Robinson.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 3, at DeBerry Funeral Directors.

Survivors include his parents of Denton; three daughters, Shannon Morris of Theodore, Ala., and Sandy Morris and Susie Morris of Adams Center, N.Y.; son, Patrick Morris of Theodore, Ala.; and four sisters, Rebecca Sims, Paula Griffith, Linda Powell and Della Morris, all of Denton.

Jean Watson

Venita Jean Watson, beloved wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law and friend, gently passed from this life into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas after a brief, yet courageous battle with leukemia.

She was born in Lynn County, Texas, on Feb. 5, 1930, to Joseph Howard and Winnie Ethyl Basye. She grew up in Levelland, Texas, where she attended first to eleventh grades. Levelland is where she met and married Ed Watson on Aug. 9, 1948.

Jean quietly and gently taught her five children to trust in the Lord with all their hearts. She was a true prayer warrior and always prayed for those around her in need whether she knew them or not.

She attended New Life Tabernacle Church in Little Elm, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at First Baptist Church of Krum with the Rev. Bob Hooper of New Life Tabernacle Church and the Rev. Ed Gatlin of Krum First Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be at DeBerry Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000. Burial will be at Krum
Jackson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Denney Dodd, Keith Barrick, Banks Dishmon, Charles Boatright, Harold Hamm, Doyle Fletcher, Donald Shifflett and Carl Shifflett.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Ens. Joe Don Watson, U.S. Navy, who was lost at sea on Aug. 25, 1975.

Survivors include her husband, Ed Watson of Krum; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Larry Read of Krum; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Roxie Watson of Frisco; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Ken Dodd of Krum; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Tonya Watson of Whitesboro; 10 grandchildren, Lance and Lindsay Read, Roxann and Chance Watson, Kelly, Klay, Katy and Kooper Dodd, and Morgan and Mikayla Watson; a sister and brother-in-law, LaVerne and Bobby Brown of Breckenridge, Texas; and a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Betty Basye of Levelland, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Donald Massey

Donald L. Massey, born Nov. 23, 1920, in Kansas City, Mo., died unexpectedly from complications from surgery on Sept. 30, 2000.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria Iris of Oak Point; daughters, Janett Massey of Dallas, Catherine Susan Rohde of Trenton; his adored granddaughters Cassiday Rayle and Adriane Luisa Rohde, both of Trenton; sister, Vera Wheelock and her family of Kansas City, Mo.; brother-in-law, John Pollock of Irving; nephew Mark Pollock of Dallas; niece, Devon Wayne and her children, Stacy, Brittany and Braedon, all of Dallas; and nephew Brad Pollock of Denton.

Mr. Massey was a retired Captain of Braniff International Airlines. He began his career in June of 1949 and continued for 31 years. He loved flying and was based in Lima, Peru, San Francisco and Dallas. He ended his career in 1980 flying Boeing 747's.

He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps, being stationed in the Southwest Pacific, and flew to New Guinea, Philippines and Australia.

His other love was sailing. He was a lifetime member of of the Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club and served as Post Commodore.

"Pops" brought laughter with him to all of us all of our lives. He died as he had lived his life, surrounded by his family. We will miss him deeply and all of us want one more story.

Memorials can be made to The National WWII Memorial, P.O. Box 96766, Washington, D.C. 20090-6766.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, in the chapel of Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen with John Pollock officiating.

R. Bradshaw-Francis

Lewisville - Relaina Dannielle Bradshaw-Francis, 25, of Lewisville, died Oct. 3, 2000, in Lewisville.

She was born Feb. 13, 1975, in Denton, to Charles and Sarah Bradshaw.

She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in the chapel of Dalton and Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in McCurley Cemetery, Lewisville.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5. at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Francis; sister, Casey Bradshaw; parents, Ann and Charlie Bradshaw; and grandmother, Edna Coffelt.

Nellie Mason

Greenwood - Nellie Veda "Nell" Mason, 80, of Greenwood, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at a Denton Regional Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 7, 1919, in Tabor City, N.C. She married William J. Mason on April 21, 1950, in Las Vegas, Nev. He is deceased.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.

Services were held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Greenwood Baptist Church. David Ruark officiated. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Rhea, Kenneth Lee, Christopher and Zachary Mason, Nicholas Spirer and Mark Gonzalez.

Survivors include a son, Dale Mason of Saginaw; two daughters, Dee Cummings of Greenwood and Elaine Teddler of Whiteville, N.C.; two brothers, Noah Jacobs of Georgetown, S.C., and Floyd Jacobs of Wilmington, N.C.; one sister, Trudy Drivon of Tabor City, N.C.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. One son, Billy Mason, one daughter, Bonnie Gonzalez, and one sister, Estaleen Long, are deceased.

Leslie Raines

Euless - Leslie Alton Raines, 24, of Euless, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, in Colleyville.

She was born June 15, 1976, in Artesia, N.M.

She worked for Aza Plus unlimited.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at First Baptist Church in Alvord with the Rev. Bill Cleveland officiating. Burial will be in Alvord Cemetery.

Survivors include her father and stepmother, Louie and Mary Raines of Whitsboro; mother, Susan Raines of Euless; sisters, Candace Raines of Euless, Kelly Snider of Whitesboro; grandparents, Berl and Helen Crockett of Bridgeport, and L.A. Raines of Springtown; and great-grandmother, Grace Moore of Colorado City.

Claude Young

Aubrey - Claude D. Young, 83, of Krugerville, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at Denton Community Hospital.

He was born Aug. 27, 1917, in Hartshorn, Okla., to Dave and Minerva Young. He married Patsy M. Nugent on March 6, 1959, in Denton. She died March 5, 1990. He then married Bertie Shepherd on May 4, 1992, in McAlister, Okla.

He was a plumber with the Aubrey Independent School District. He retired from the University of North Texas. He was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Full Gospel Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Jack Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Belew Cemetery, Aubrey.

Pallbearers will be James Brown, John David, Al Hernandez, Craig Mankin, Brad Wilkinson and Howard Adkins Jr.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Oct. 4, at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife Bertie Young of Krugerville; daughters, Kay Mills of Aubrey, Kim Young of Krugerville; son, David Young of Krugerville; stepdaughter, Betty Fender of McAlister, Okla.; stepsons, James Sheppard and Ronnie Sheppard, both of Indianola, Okla.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

Bertha Mills

Bertha Lee Mills, 83, of Denton, died at her residence Monday, Oct. 2, 2000.

She was born to James Lee and Annie Crawford, July 16, 1917, in Double Oak. She married Calvin Mills in Denton, April 11, 1963.

After attending nurses training at T.S.T.C., she assisted in the founding of a national organization of licensed vocational nurses, which later became a national education school for nurses. She worked as a surgical nurse at Flow Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with the Rev. Billy Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Calvin Mills of Denton; four daughters, Louise Foss of Austin, Cathryn Patton of Krum, Deborah Breakfield of Houston, Barbara Dietzman and husband James Dietzman of Justin; son, Mark and wife Cherrie Mills of Denton; grandchildren, Johnny Harp, Michael Harp, Randy Dietzman, Sonya Weaks, Kevin Mills, Chris Mills, Cody Mills, Misty Breakfield; great-grandchildren, Wesley, Bryan, Whitney and Dusty Harp, Stuart, Rendon, Quirt, Vanessa and Wyatt Dietzman.

Pallbearers will be Wesley, Bryan, Johnny and Mike Harp, Chris Mills and Randy Dietzman.
