Doren Wilson

Shady Shores - Doren Cora Wilson, 70, of Shady Shores died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

She was born May 1, 1931, in Norton, England. She married Arthur Wilson in Malton, England, on July 10, 1954. He died April 13, 1994.

Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Church of England.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home. Don McWhinney will officiate.

Survivors include two daughters, Doreen Walcome Strong of South Killingholme, England, and Vivian May Jacks of Groomsby, England; two sons, David Wilson of Shady Shores and Allan Wilson of Killingholme, England; and five grandchildren.

Gary Winfrey

Cold Springs - Gary Willard Winfrey, 59, of Cold Springs died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at his home.

He was born Feb. 20, 1952, in Houston.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at Paul Horton Methodist Church in Stephens Creek. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Stephens Creek. Pace Stancil Funeral Home of Cleveland is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his mother, Joyce M. Winfrey Berry; two sons, Trenton Adam Winfrey of Lewisville and Travis Caine Winfrey; two brothers, Thomas Charles Winfrey and Richard Lynn Winfrey; one sister, Vicky Joyce Haynes; and one grandson.

Clint Redfearn

Aubrey - Clint Redfearn, 43, of Aubrey, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center. He was born April 16, 1958, in Denton, to Bobby and V. Ann Smith Redfearn. He graduated from Aubrey High School, Class of 1976.

Clint attended the First Baptist Church of Krugerville and was a self-employed plumber. He had previously been an insurance agent for American National Insurance.

Family visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the Midway Baptist Church in Aubrey. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Midway Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Redfearn and the Rev. Chris Walden officiating. Burial will be in Belew Cemetery in Aubrey.

Survivors include his parents, V. Ann Redfearn of Aubrey and Bobby and Diana Redfearn of Aubrey; two daughters, Misty McGee of Pilot Point and Jessica Redfearn of Aubrey; his grandmother, Billie Smith of Atoka, Okla.; four sisters, Debbie Harwell of Greenwood, Carla DuBois and Susie Swenson, both of Aubrey, and Twylight Allison of Gainesville; three brothers, Paul Redfearn, Ed Redfearn and Jeff Redfearn, all of Aubrey; one grandson, Derek Redfearn of Pilot Point; 17 nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and nephews. His grandparents, Homer Smith and Deck and Vernie Redfearn, preceded him in death.

The pallbearers will be Mike, Bill and Jack Akins, Dan Sparks, Tim Yarabrough and Mark Law.

DeBerry Funeral Directors of Denton is in charge of arrangements.

J.D. Altman

J.D. Altman, 44, of Denton, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Denton Community Hospital.

He was born Nov. 19, 1956, in Abilene, to Jerry and Mary Jean Altman. He graduated from Abilene High School and the Southwest Texas State University.

Mr. Altman was the manager of Voertman's.

A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 18, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. The Rev. Gene Sweeney will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight, Thursday, May 17, for visitation.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Hepatitis Foundation International, 30 Sunrise Terrace, Cedar Grove, N.J. 07009.

Survivors include his wife, Lendi Altman of Denton; his parents, Mary Jean and Jim Wills of San Antonio; three daughters, Rebecca, Hannah and McKenna Altman, all of Denton; and one brother, Glen Altman of Eula.

Richard Garrison

Sanger - Richard Harper Garrison, 91, of Sanger, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at the Care Inn.

He was born Oct. 14, 1909, in Krum.

Mr. Garrison was a retired presser in the dry cleaning industry.

The service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, May 17, at the Krum United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kara Stallcup will officiate. Burial will be in Jackson Cemetery in Krum. Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home of Denton is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his cousin, Wayne Bruce, of Sanger.

Willie O'Dell

Pilot Point - Willie Mae O'Dell, 83, of Pilot Point, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, in Gunter.

She was born April 26, 1918, in Celina, to Job and Nannie Hurt Perkins. On March 2, 1934, she married Edward Lee O'Dell, in Pilot Point. He died Feb. 22, 1994. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pilot Point.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Pilot Point. The Rev. John Hicks. Burial will be in Pilot Point Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Ingle, Mike White, Bill White, Frankie Lee, David Lee, Edward Sanders and Jeff Hammons.

The family will be at Huff/Slay Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 18, for visitation.

Survivors include four daughters, Carol Laverne Gomillion of Edinburg, Virginia Fern Coward of Sea Drift, Laurie Junelle Lee of Arlington and Gail Marie Hammons of Pilot Point; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband, and one brother, Benny Truman Perkins, are deceased.

Kaden Pennartz

Decatur - Kaden Cole Pennartz, 6, of Decatur, died Wednesday, May 16, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Clint Redfearn

Aubrey - Clint Redfearn, 43, of Aubrey, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

Jesus Rodriguez

Jesus Javier Rodriguez, 18, of Denton, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at the Baylor University Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 2, 1982, in Mexico, to Jesus and Blanca Rodriguez.

Jesus was a student at Denton High School and played football for the Broncos. He was scheduled to graduate this year.

The service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 18, at Schmitz-Floyd-Anderson Funeral Home. The Rev. Lorenzo Silvas will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Thursday, May 17, for visitation.

Survivors include his parents of Denton; two sisters, Blanca and Karen Rodriguez, both of Denton; and his grandparents, Emma and Gerardo Rodriguez, and Magdalena Rodriguez, all of Mexico.

Joseph Hollis Sr.

Waco - Joseph Edward Hollis Sr., 77, of Waco, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, in Temple.

He was born July 6, 1923, in Wolf City to Ida Mae Lofton and Samuel Hollis. He married Juanita Hall in Waco.

Mr. Hollis was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Denton.

The service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, at the Morse Street Baptist Church. The Rev. Wilbert Austin of Waco will officiate. Burial will be in the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.

The family will be at People's Funeral Home in Denton from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, for visitation.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita of Waco; three sons, Joseph E. Hollis Jr. and Charles D. Hollis, both of Denton and Jesse Davis of Oakland, Calif.; four daughters, Ida Seale and Regina Hollis, both of Waco, Geneva Weaver of Arlington, and Loretta Coble of Mansfield; four brothers, Samuel Hollis, Thomas Hollis and Paul Hollis, all of Dallas, and James Hollis of Denton; one sister, Georgia Herod of Arlington; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Maybelle McManus

Rosepine, La. - Maybelle Rita McManus, 82, of Rosepine, La., formerly of Denton, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Pine Haven Nursing Center.

She was born Nov. 23, 1918, in Massachusetts.

Ms. McManus attended public schools and was a homemaker.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, in Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney. The Rev. Tim Epting will officiate.

The family will be at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, for visitation.

Survivors include one daughter, Joan Looney of Worster, Mass.; two sons, Brad McManus of Denton and Paul Sullivan of Worster, Mass.; one sister, Corrine O'Connor of Massachusetts; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Ruby Travelstead

Lewisville - Ruby Travelstead, 92, of Lewisville, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at the Medical Center of Lewisville.

She was born June 25, 1908, in Lewisville, to W.M. and Celia Brady Wallace. On Nov. 26, 1927, she married W.E. "Trap" Travelstead in Lewisville. He died in 1949.

Mrs. Travelstead was owner of City Plumbing in Lewisville and formerly worked for King's Drug Store.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lewisville.

The service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Interment will follow in Old Hall Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Doris Huddleston of Lewisville; one grandson; and one great-grandson. One son, Wallace B. "Little Trap" Travelstead, two stepsons, Jasper and Vance Travelstead, five sisters and three brothers are deceased.

Patsy Erwin

Patsy Kaye Erwin, 53, of Denton died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at her home.

She was born Dec. 2, 1947, in Denton to Louie and Myrel Testerman Fiorelli. She graduated from Denton High School and worked at the Denton State School.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 15, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include two daughters, Shannon Heaton of Highland Village and Michele Davis of Phoenix, Ariz.; one son, Brandon Erwin of Denton; her mother of Denton; five sisters, Donna Jeffcoat of Lubbock, Brenda Jamison of Irving, Karen Waters of Allen, Angela Fiorelli of Hickory Creek and Jona Darnell of Watauga; one brother, Kenton Fiorelli of Denton; and two grandchildren.

Richard Garrison

Krum - Richard Garrison, 91, of Krum died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Care Inn of Sanger.

John Hutzel

Krum - John Joseph Hutzel, 58, of Krum died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Denton Community Hospital.

He was born April 11, 1943, in Dayton, Ohio. He married Peggy Atkinson in Phoenix, Ariz., on Aug. 1, 1977.

Mr. Hutzel was the owner of Hutzel Construction. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

A service was held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, May 15, at Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home. Carl Lambert officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of Krum; five daughters, Lori Myers of Denton, Teresa Scheaffer of Denton, Christina Hutzel of Krum, Mariana Waddell of Irving, and Elisa Beck of Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo.; one son, John Hutzel of Fort Carson, Colo.; and eight grandchildren.

Harland Jones

Blum - Harland Jones, 61, of Blum died Friday, May 5, 2001, at a Hillsboro hospital.

He was born Aug. 7, 1939, and lived in the Denton area most of his life. He graduated from Pilot Point High School in 1957, and moved to Blum 11 years ago. He retired as a mechanic from Bell Helicopter in 1986.

Mr. Jones was a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Springhill. A service was held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 7, at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth.

Survivors include his wife, Laurie Jones of Blum; one son, Richard Jones of Blum; one daughter, Sherry Wright of Lewisville; two stepchildren, Jimmy and Jeanie Ishmael; former wife, Betty Jones of Lewisville; one brother, Worth Jones of Aubrey; one sister, Linda Hackney of Greenville; and four grandchildren.
