Russell Mollohan

Sanger - Russell Dale Mollohan, 87, of Sanger, died Friday, May 25, 2001 at his home.

He was born Nov. 27, 1913, in West Virginia.

Mr. Mollohan was a retired chemical operator for Union Carbide. He was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 28, in the chapel of Coker Funeral Home. The Rev. Dewayne Dawson will officiate. Burial will be in Sanger.

Survivors include one daughter, Carol Morris of Sanger; one sister, Thelma Harper of Marlington, WV; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ernest Crystle

Ernest Flemming Crystle, 62, of Denton died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Denton Community Hospital.

He was born March 18, 1939, in Chester, Pa.

Mr. Crystle was a professor at the University of North Texas.

A service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the First United Methodist Church. Dr. Stephen Dixon will officiate. Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by two brothers, James Crystle, of Orlando, Fla., and Jack Crystle of Claymont, Del.; and one sister, Betty Kohl of Absecon, N.J.

Edith Pavey

Edith S. Pavey, 75, of Denton, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Virginia, to Joseph McKinley Slough and Nannie Mae Rowles Slough. On May 17, 1972, she married Dean N. Pavey in Rockville, Md. He died April 4, 1999.

Private family services will be held. DeBerry Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include one son, James O. Souders Jr. of Denton; two sisters, Levetta Josephine Easley of Denton and Linda Darlene Slough of Woodbridge, Va.; and one brother, Allen Dale Slough of Pilot Point.

George Copp

Dr. George C. Copp, 88, of Denton, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Denton Community Hospital.

He was born Oct. 11, 1912, in Slidell, to Mark and Alice Copp. He graduated from Denton High School. On June 10, 1942, he married Daisy Merle Greer in Bakersfield, Calif. In 1945 he served on the advisory committee of aeronautics for the U.S. government.

Dr. Copp received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of North Texas and his doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a professor of mathematics at UNT for 27 years before his retirement. He was the sponsor of the Mathematics Honor Society at UNT, and a member of the American Mathematics Society. He was an honorary member of the Girl Scouts.

A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Roselawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Cliff Feeler will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Richard Sullivan, Richard P. Sullivan, John Randall Bow, Fred Lee, George Micheal Lee, Thomas Harrington, Jerry Lunsford Jr. and Matthew E. Barnes.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, May 29, at DeBerry Funeral Directors.

Survivors include his wife of Denton; two daughters, Alice Copp Harrington of Fairfax, Va., and Betty Copp Lee of Eastland; one son, George Mark Copp of Denton; one sister, Dora Opal Copp of Denton; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mary Garvin

Tioga - Mary Louise Garvin, 80, of Tioga, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Granbury Villa, in Granbury.

Walter Lee

Decatur - Walter Lee, 72, of Decatur, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at his residence.

Coker Funeral Home of Decatur.

Carolyn Stamper

Sunset - Carolyn Sue Stamper, 55, of Sunset, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at a Houston hospital.

Bobby Wallace

Whitesboro - Bobby Wallace, 70, of Whitesboro, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at his residence.

He was born March 24, 1931, in Krum, to Walter William Wallace and Rose Ella Gresham Wallace. On Aug. 2, 1987, he married Jimmie Woodall in Waco.

Mr. Wallace was retired from Safeway.

He attended the First Baptist Church of Gordonville.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 1, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton. The Rev. Rusty Waller will officiate. Burial will be in Jackson Cemetery in Krum.

Pallbearers will be Chris Beard, Walter Beard, Luca Montgomery, Logan Montgomery, Justin Buzbee and Chris Randazzo.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, for visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Home Hospice of Sherman.

Survivors include five daughters, Rosella Hill of Walnut Creek, Calif., Susan Beard and Marilee Clough, both of Las Vegas, Nev., Alyce West of Reno, Nev., and Christi Randazzo of Waco; one brother, Walter Wallace Jr. of Whitesboro; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. One sister, Ella Mae Isabell, and two brothers, Roy James and E.W. Wallace, are deceased.

Marvin Fain

Sanger - Marvin C. Fain, 80, of Sanger died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at the Denton Rehab and Nursing Center.

He was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Alvord.

Mr. Fain was self-employed as a carpenter.

The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, in the Gribble Springs Cemetery in Denton County.

The family will be at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, for visitation.

Survivors include seven sons, Royce L., Danny and Gary Fain of Sanger, Billy R. Fain of Georgia, Jimmy Fain of Denton, Eddie Fain of Royce City and Doug Fain of Collinsville; one sister of Oklahoma; and 12 grandchildren.

Mary Garvin

Pilot Point - Mary Louise Garvin, 80, of Pilot Point died Monday, May 27, 2001, at Granbury Villa Nursing Home in Granbury.

She was born March 31, 1921, in Dallas, to Julian G. and Paulien Hardeman Kenney. On Oct. 21, 1965, she married David C. Garvin in Lubbock. He died Dec. 24, 2000.

Mrs. Garvin was a homemaker.

She was Catholic.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, May 30, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Pilot Point. The Rev. Don Brennan officiated. Burial was in Tioga Cemetery, Tioga. Huff/Slay Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Spencer Rodgers, Jonathan Rodgers, Vance Bowden, Tom Bowden, Jacob Bowden and Tim Bowden.

Survivors include five sons, Kenney Bowden of Morgan, Paul Bowden of Pilot Point, Thomas Bowden of Keller, Chad Bowden of Granbury and Timothy Bowden of Georgia; four daughters, Claudia Sager of China, Texas, Michael Stubbs of Burleson, and Eddie Lou Rodgers and Virginia Langston, both of Granbury; 33 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Walter Lee

Decatur - Walter Eugene Lee, 72, of Decatur died Monday, May 28, 2001, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 17, 1928, in Booker. On Feb. 8, 1966, he married Sylvia Louise Watkins in Plainview. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Mr. Lee was the owner of a carpentry/building business. He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge.

He was Methodist.

A service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 31, in the chapel of Coker Funeral Home in Decatur. Ken Burnett will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Decatur.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, May 30, for visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Wise Regional Medical System Auxiliary.

Survivors include his wife of Decatur; one son, Scott Lee of Tyler; four daughters, Carla Lee of Fort Worth, Kathleen O'Hair of Lubbock, Sharon Van Balle of Jacksboro and Leslie Fletcher of May; three brothers, Alvin L. and Ray Lee, both of Booker, and Henry Lee of Elkhart, Kan.; five sisters, Mary Kitzmiller of Two Buttes, Colo., Ella Page of Mankato, Kan., Beatrice Retzman of Eugene, Ore., Betty Jo Reynolds of Kansas, and Eva Ann Thomas of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. His son, Tracy Lee, sister, Dora Mae Depew, and two brothers, Alford and Leonard Lee, are deceased.

Carolyn Stamper

Sunset - Carolyn Sue Stamper, 55, of Sunset died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at a Houston hospital.

She was born July 12, 1945, in Alvarado. On Aug. 26, 1997, she married Everett N. "E.N." Stamper in Bowie.

She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 31, in the chapel of Coker Funeral Home in Decatur. Leonard Crosson will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Montague County.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, May 30, for visitation.

Survivors include her husband of Sunset; two sons, Gregory Allen Stamper of Denton and Chad E. Stamper of Hillsboro; two daughters, Lova Holden of Arlington and Lyn Stamper of Porterville, Calif.; two brothers, George Keller of Cleburne and Jeffrey Keller of Itasca; three sisters, Juanita Comer of Itasca, Yvonne Marcum of Crowley and Sarita Gaskill of Cleburne; and 10 grandchildren.

Stanley Stevens

Pilot Point - Stanley E. Stevens, 83, of Pilot Point died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at the Careage Place Nursing Home.

W. Kathleen Thomas

W. Kathleen Thomas, 82, of Denton, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at the Denton Good Samaritan Village.

She was born June 24, 1918, in Valeria. On July 16, 1938, she married Joe C. Thomas in Denton.

Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker.

The service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 1, in Roselawn Memorial Park. Dr. Donovan Davidson will officiate.

The family will be at Schmitz-Floyd-Anderson from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, for visitation.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Thomas; one son, Clinton Thomas of Aubrey; one brother, Ray Gibson of Krum; two granddaughters, July Reid of Flower Mound and Stacy Thomas of Denton; and one great-grandson, Austin Reid of Flower Mound.

Phillip Cole

Phillip H. Cole, 60, of Denton, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 3, 1940, in Denton, to Martin and Lucille Cole.

Mr. Cole was a farmer and a rancher.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

The service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 31, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. The Rev. Gary Mueller will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Cole of Denton; one daughter and son-in-law, Mollie and John Mark Davis of Granbury; one son, Mitchell Cole of Denton; one sister, Cindy Cole of Durango. Colo.; one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Nancy Cole of Denton; and one grandson, Cole Davis of Granbury.
