Mildred Starr

Mildred Starr, 71, of Denton, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

She was born to Fred and Elizabeth Krantz on Jan. 11, 1930, in Denton County.

She retired from Moore's Business Forms. She was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8. Burial will follow in the Old Alton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight, Thursday, June 7.

Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Poovey of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Annie Krantz of Copan, Okla., and Liz Foreman of Copan, Okla.; one brother, Clyde Krantz of Lodi, Calif.; one grandson, Mitch Mitchell of Denton; and two great-grandchildren, Preston and Madelaine Mitchell.

DeBerry Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Marion Willeford

Aubrey - Marion Alvin Willeford, 77, of Aubrey died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at his residence.

He was born July 6, 1923, in Whorton to Harvey and Lucille Teague Willeford. On Dec. 26, 1946, he married Eva Mae Blakely in Freestone County.

Mr. Willeford was a retired carpenter.

He was a Jehovah's Witness.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, in Belew Cemetery, Aubrey. Darrell Barnes will officiate. Huff/Slay Funeral Home of Pilot Point is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of Aubrey; one sister, Mabelle Shuler of Austin; one brother, Earl Willeford of Crossroads; and two grandchildren. His daughter, Brenda Kay Kinser, died Dec. 27, 1995.

J. Bruce Story

Graveside services for John Bruce Story, 93, of Denton, Texas, formerly of Seminole, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2001, at the Gaines County Memorial Cemetery in Seminole with the Rev. David Moore officiating. Services will be under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home in Seminole.

Mr. Story passed away Sunday, June 3, 2001, at the Carrige House assisted living in Denton, Texas after an illness.

He was born Jan. 17, 1908, in Comanche, Texas. He was a long time resident of Seminole and had moved to Denton a year ago. He married Velma Whitehead in 1935, who for 42 years was a teacher with the Seminole schools. He was a water well contractor for many years. Bruce moved in a covered wagon with his family to West Texas in 1915. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, then returned to Seminole. He was a fiercely independent, witty and generous man and will be missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Velma in 1990, four brothers and three sisters.

The family will greet visitors at Boyer Funeral Home in Seminole from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 8.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mickey McCarter and husband Bill of Denton, Texas; and one grandson, Monte McCarter of Austin, Texas.

Arlie R. Hamman

Gainesville - Arlie Rolland Hamman, 78, of Gainesville, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Vintage Health Care.

He was born Aug. 27, 1922, in Nashoba, Okla., to John Rolland and Emma Hamman. On Jan. 3, 1942, he married his wife Doris in Fort Smith, Ark.

Mr. Hamman was retired from the U.S. Army. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason of Lodge 183 in Lawton, Okla.

A service was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, in the chapel of Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home in Denton. Danny Shaver will officiate. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Marco Deleon, Jay Griffith, Jeremy Hamman, Josh Hamman, Jason Hawk and Michael Lynch.

Memorials may be made to In Touch Ministries, P.O. Box 7700, Atlanta, Ga. 30357.

Survivors include his wife of Denton; four daughters, Donna Hamman of Center, Diana Roddenburg of Little Rock, Ark., Cindy Griffith of Valley View, and Cecile Moore of Gainesville; three sons, Arlie Hamman Jr. of Lancaster, and Brian Hamman of Aubrey, and John Hamman of Denton; one sister, Lela Bridges of Plainview; and two brothers, Vernon Hamman of Manteca, Calif., and Bryan Hamman of Ceres, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Jewell R. Cudd

Sanger - Jewell Ruth Cudd, 93, of Sanger, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at the Vintage Health Care Center.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, June 5, for visitation.

A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. The Rev. Dickie Amyx will officiate. Burial will be in Sanger Community Cemetery.

Mrs. Cudd was a retired dietary worker.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Elaine Cudd of Denton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jimmy Rogers of Denton, and Wilma and Jim Outenreath of Irving; three sisters, Gladys Kline and Nellie Mann, both of Denton, and Alyne Wells of Sanger; one brother, Woodrow "Pud" Wilson of Aubrey; six grandchildren, Gary Rogers of Oklahoma, Larry and Gail Ashby of Denton, Lynn and Ross Hatchett of Fort Worth, Terri and Tommy Jeters of Denton, Rusty and Christy Cudd of Frisco, and Alyson and Kory Nelson of Dallas; and four great-grandchildren, Krysta and Katy Harrison of Denton, and Will and Tinsley Hatchett of Fort Worth.

J.W. Elliott

J.W. Elliott, 65, of Nocona Hills, Texas, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 5, 1935, in Putnam, Okla., to Ollie and Ruby (Carnehan) Elliott. On April 15, 1967, he married Lola Hobson in Jacksboro, Texas.

J.W. worked at Hexcel Corporation in Graham for 27 years and also owned and operated Auto and Truck parts of Graham for 14 years.

Services were held Saturday, June 2, at Nocona Hills Community Church. Lee Lucas officiated. Interment was in Shady Grove Cemetery. Scott-Morris Funeral Home of Nocona was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2787, North Canton, Ohio 44720.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter and son-in-law, Angela and David E. Fulton; and two grandchildren, Logan and Larissa Fulton of Sanger.

Margaret Draper

Margaret Draper, 82, of Denton, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Lake Forest Good Samaritan Village.

She was born in Plainview on Nov. 11, 1918, to T. Hall and Lucille Wolfe Brown.

Mrs. Draper was a homemaker.

She was Baptist.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Deacon Emilio "PoPo" Gonzalez will conduct the Mass.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, June 4, at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview.

Survivors include three daughters, Janette Draper of Albuquerque, N.M., and Linda Golightly and Michele Draper, both of Denton; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Arlie Hammon

Gainesville - Arlie Rolland Hammon, 78, of Gainesville, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Vintage Health Care.

Floyd Sons

Sanger - Floyd Sons, 84, of Sanger, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Denton Community Hospital.

He was born Oct. 19, 1916, in Madill, Okla.

Mr. Sons was a retired Transport Systems welder. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, in the chapel of Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. E.L. McNeal will officiate. Burial will be in Bolivar Community Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, June 4, for visitation.

Survivors include his wife, Ophelia Sons of Sanger; two sons, David Sons and Richard Sons, both of Sanger; one sister, Ruby Kirby of Lewisville; one brother, Jesse Sons of Sanger; seven grandchildren; and three grandchildren.

Marion Willeford

Aubrey - Marion Alvin Willeford, 77, of Aubrey, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at his residence.

"Scotty" White Jr.

Scott M. White Jr., 55, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at St. Paul Medical Center in Dallas, after a five-month courageous battle with cancer.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2001, at the First Baptist Church in Rule, Texas, with the Rev. Scott Hensley officiating. Burial will be in Rule Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Robison Funeral Chapel in Haskell.

Scotty was born June 20, 1945, in Knox City. He attended school in Rule and graduated with the Class of 1963. He attended Hardin-Simmons University and West Texas State at Canyon. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. At the time of his death he was employed at James Wood Auto park after a long career in sales.

He was preceded in death by his father, Scott M. White Sr., in 1973, and a son, Brian Keith White, in 1975.

He is survived by his wife, Alice White of Denton; his mother, June White of Rule; a son, Todd and his wife Star, and their children Brittany, Sahara and Austin, all of Richmond, Ky.; a daughter, Kimberly and her husband Carlos, and their children Samantha, Aaron, Tyler and Shaylee of Abilene; a stepson, Manning Price and his wife Kelly, and her children Haylee and Niki of Burneyville, Okla.; a stepson, Kellous Price of Shreveport, La; a stepdaughter, Brandi Smythe and her children Dakota, Mitchell and Brandon of Abilene; a stepdaughter, Tracy Price Staats and her husband Stefan, and their son Carter of New Braunfels; and several aunts and cousins.

Pallbearers were Joel Bevel, Mike Newberry, Kenny Young, Jimmy Norman, Jeff Lewis, Don Bivins, John McQuinn and David May.

Honorary pallbearers were Darrell Breland, Charles Long, Travis Townsend, Ronald Kinney, Eugene Rhoads, Vance Saffel, Sammy Simpson, Jackie Horton, Junior Mathis, special friends, and employees of James Wood Auto Park.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1001 Union Ave., Rule, Texas 79547.

Scotty White

Scotty M. White Jr., 55, of Denton died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Saint Paul Medical Center in Dallas.

The service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, at the First Baptist Church in Rule. The Rev. Scott Hensley will officiate. Burial will be in Rule Cemetery.

The family will be at Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors in Haskell from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 3, for visitation.

Grace Hunt

Aubrey - Grace B. Hunt, 93, of Aubrey died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Denton Community Hospital.

She was born Feb. 22, 1908, in Whitman to George and Ema Willis. On Feb. 1, 1929, she married Francis B. Hunt in Petersburg. He is deceased.

Mrs. Hunt was a homemaker. She and her husband were farmers in the Edmunson Community for many years.

She was Baptist.

The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 4, in Petersburg Cemetery in Petersburg. Huff-Slay Funeral Home of Pilot Point is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Jackie H. Kirk of Uvalde and Relda H. Bond of Aubrey; one brother, Paul Willis Sr. of Petersburg; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers are deceased.
