Horseshoe Bay - Wesley Blanton "Bill" Snellgrove, 82, of Horseshoe Bay died Saturday, July 7, 2001, in Burnet.
He was born April 18, 1919, in Norton to John W. and Cora Lee Caswell Snellgrove. He married Charlotte Virginia Caldwell in Denton on May 9, 1947. She died May 31, 2000.
Mr. Snellgrove attended Norton public schools, North Texas State Teachers' College (now the University of North Texas) and N.T.A.C. at Arlington. He was retired from road and highway construction, having worked for Texas Bitulithic Co. and Trottie and Thompson.
He was a past president of the Jaycees and a member of the Construction Industry Association, the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club.
He was a member of the Church at Horseshoe Bay.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at the Church at Horseshoe Bay. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Church at Horseshoe Bay.

Betty Beaty Waggoner, 81, of Denton died today, Monday, July 9, 2001, at her home.

Bobby Bridges
Aubrey - Bobby G. Bridges, 59, of Aubrey died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at the Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman.
He was born Jan. 18, 1942, to Thurman and Marguerite Blythe Bridges.
The service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey. Burial will be in Belew Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Stacy Taylor, Harold Newton, Darrell Bode, Kris Coffey, John Bridges and Danny Bridges.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, July 10, for visitation.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Kay; his mother, Marguerite Bridges of Aubrey; one son, Brian Bridges of Bells; five brothers, Thurman, Jerry, Dennis and Jimmy Bridges, all of Aubrey and Ricky Bridges of Valley View; four sisters, Ann Jameson of Tioga, Darlene Cravens of Sanger, Sherry Spraberry of Argyle, and Barbara Coffey of Pilot Point; and one grandson.

Howard Irby
Krugerville - Howard Gilbert Irby, 74, of Krugerville died Sunday, July 8, 2001, in Leonard.
He was born June 9, 1927, in Irving, to John and Lillie Mae (Wheeler) Irby. He married Juanita Jean Ornsby. She died Aug. 8, 1992.
Mr. Irby was retired from Ford Motor Company and Safeway Grocery Company.
He attended the First Baptist Church of Aubrey.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey. Burial will be in Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, July 10, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Gary Cross, Terry Cross, Barry Cross, Tommy Wade Jr., Don Rogers, Mike Bellringer and Chris Ornsby.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Cross of Pilot Point and Sandra Bulen of Leonard; one son, Howard Irby Jr. of Pilot Point; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. One daughter, Juanita "Susie" Wade, died June 26, 2001, and one grandson died in October 1994.
Irma Sellers
Bridgeport - Irma Frances Sellers, 71, of Bridgeport died Thursday, July 5, 2001, in Decatur.
She was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Bridgeport.
At the age of 14, Ms. Sellers performed in Arthur Godfrey's Talent Show in New York. She went on to receive her teaching degree from Texas Woman's University. She was a former band director at Chico High School and a retired music teacher for the Bridgeport I.S.D.
Ms. Sellers was the organist for and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport.
The funeral service was held Friday, July 6, at the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport. The Rev. Rusty Hedges officiated. Burial was in East Bridgeport Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kirt Black, Paul Geiser, Chris Funk, Max Moore, Danny Stack and Grant Drake.
Survivors include two sons, William B. Sellers Jr. of Wichita Falls and Craig Sellers of Bridgeport; two daughters, Jeyne Neblett of Denton and Jayne Cantwell of Plano; and four grandchildren.
Betty Waggoner
Betty Batey Waggoner, 81, of Denton died Monday, July 9, 2001, at her residence.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, July 10, at the funeral home.
She was born March 12, 1920, in Savoy, to William Headrick and Eva Hardy Batey. On April 20, 2000, she married James R. Waggoner in Denton. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary #2205 and Denton Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant #41.
She was a member of the Welch Street Church of Christ and Denton Rebekah Lodge #18.

Survivors include her husband of Denton; three daughters, Arlene Grissom Boydston of Denton, Lynda Grissom Crombie of Krum and Karen Elliott Morris of Whitewater; two brothers, Robert W. Batey of Dallas and Wallace H. Batey of Denton; one sister, Evelyn Janice Goulter of Denton; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Billy Kay Collins
Billy Kay Collins, sweetest daughter, dearest sister, loving cousin, devoted mentor, kindest friend, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2001, in Plano, Texas. Billy Kay was born to Bill and Kathryne Collins on March 6, 1947, in Denton, Texas. She graduated from Lewisville High School in 1965 and Texas Woman's University in 1972. Billy Kay was a resident of Plano and was currently the assistant to the vice president of academic affairs at Collin County Community College. Billy Kay was instrumental in curriculum development since joining Collin County in 1986. She was the recipient of the prestigious Rose Award honoring outstanding contributions to the college community. In 1982, she was nationally recognized with a prestigious award as one of the outstanding young women of America.
Billy Kay is survived by her mother, Kathryne Collins of Denton; brother, sister-in-law and niece, Maxey Ben, Shelia and Stephanie Collins of Lawrenceville, Ga.; foster sister, Linda Vanzura of Lake Dallas, Texas; uncle and aunt, Ben and Jane Collins of Ipswich, Mass.; uncle, Wayne Foster of Fort Worth; niece, Vicki Vanzura of Lake Dallas; nephew, Keith Vanzura of Lewisville, Texas; goddaughter, Leslie Whisehunt of Sanger, Texas; godson, Adam Lipscomb of Plano, Texas; numerous cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Highland Baptist Church of Denton with Dr. Jimmy Naugher officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park, Denton, Texas.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, July 10, at DeBerry Funeral Directors.

Oleta Ash
Oleta Eugenia Ash, 76, of Denton died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 14, 1925, to Melvin F. and Myrtle Ellen Peavey in McCurtain County, Okla. On May 25, 1950, she married Law Ash, and moved to Denton. He died Jan. 10, 2000.
Mrs. Ash retired from Texas Woman's University after 25 years of service in the art department and as head of circulation at the library.
The service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sanger Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Merle Adams of Carrollton; one son, Dennis Law Ash of Denton; and one sister, Ruby Cummins of Normal, Ill.
Gloria Fisher
Gloria Mae Fisher, 63, of Denton died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Denton Community Hospital.
She was born Oct. 6, 1937, in Handley.
Mrs. Fisher was a nurse.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home. The Rev. Buddy Owens will officiate. Burial will be in Shannon Rose Hill in Fort Worth.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, for visitation.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil James Fisher of Denton.
James Fricke
James A. Fricke, 77, of Denton died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 2, 1923, in Dayton, Ohio.
Mr. Fricke was a security guard for Able Security. He was a veteran.
A service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 24, at Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Stiles will officiate.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Fricke of Denton; three daughters, Lianne Fox of Houston, Lisa Fricke of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Shelly Parker of Denton; two sons, Gus Fricke of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Steve Fricke of Wilmington, Ohio; two brothers, Dr. Don Fricke and Howard Fricke, both of Dayton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Francis Jones
Wichita Falls - Col. Francis L. "Frank" Jones (retired), 86, of Wichita Falls died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Lakeridge Place in Wichita Falls.
He was born July 4, 1915, in Denton, to I.E. and Ivy Jones. On Jane. 5, 1938, he married Jane Tuttle in McKinney.
Before entering the Air Force, Col. Jones was a school administrator and principal in Denton and Denison. After enlisting in the Air Force in 1942, he instructed at Columbus AAF in the B-25 until he was posted to Okinawa in 1945. He was the commanding officer of the 89th Bombardment Squadron (L) AAF (A20 & 26) until returning to the United States in April 1946. He returned to civilian life and was a school principal in Shreveport, La., until he was recalled to active duty in 1951 for the Korean War. His assignments ranged from the Pentagon to Thailand and included HQ PACAF Hawaii, Maxwell AFB, Ala., and Sheppard AFB where he was commandant of the 3750 Tech School. He retired at Sheppard AFB, Texas, on Aug. 31, 1974, after 32 years and four months of service.
Col. Jones was a former national director and Southwest region vice president and local president of the Air Force Association, and a member of the Downtown Rotary Club and the Order of Daedelions.
He was Protestant.
The service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, in the chapel of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, for visitation.

Charles Lancaster
Shreveport, La. - Charles F. Lancaster, 75, of Shreveport, La., formerly of Terrell, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, in Shreveport.
He was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Denton, to Alvin and Verna Lancaster. He served three years in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Lancaster was employed in the printing industry and retired after 26 years with Reynolds and Reynolds Company.
A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, July 24, at College Mound Cemetery in Terrell. The Rev. Jerry Griffin officiated. Goggans Funeral Home of Terrell was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Betty Davis Lancaster of Shreveport; two daughters, Carol Lancaster of Shreveport and Diane Lancaster of Austin; one stepson, Mike Stevens of Ferris; two sisters, Mildred Martin and Suzie McGar, both of Denton; one grandson; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. His parents, two sisters, Mary Watson and Polly Lee, and one brother, Sonny Lancaster, are deceased.
