Vera Patterson

Sanger - Vera Mae Patterson, 92, of Sanger died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Denton Community Hospital.

She was born April 9, 1909, in Brock, Okla.

Mrs. Patterson was a homemaker.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, in Bolivar Cemetery, Bolivar. E.L. McNeal will officiate.

The family will be at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, July 31, for visitation.

Survivors include one son, Lee Patterson of Sanger; five sisters, Grace Landes of Farmers Branch, Alma Meeks of Lone Grove, Beatrice Blackstock of Brownfield, Virgie Hunnycutt of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Louise Scars of Brownfield; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Prator

Aubrey - Kenneth Prator, 80, of Aubrey died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Denton Regional Hospital.

He was born March 24, 1921, in Ben Franklin. On April 14, 1952, he married Margaret Childers in Hope, Ark.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, in Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro.

The family will be at Clement-Keel Funeral Home in Gainesville from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, July 31, for visitation.

Survivors include his wife of Aubrey; four sons, Kent Flanagan of Terrell, Donald Prator, Ronnie Prator and Donnie Prator, all of Aubrey; three daughters, Ann Embrey of Sunnyvale, Jane Gaskill of Menniola and Connie Allison of Whitesboro; one sister, Nina Woodson of Paris, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Grover Rue

Celina - Grover Coffey Rue, 79, of Celina died Monday, July 30, 2001, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Denton, to Grover C. Rue Sr. and Buna Mae Coffey Rue. On Oct. 4, 1939, he married Mary Elizabeth Ellison in Aubrey. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Mr. Rue retired from the U.S. Postal Service as postmaster in Celina. He was a member of the American Legion.

He was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Celina and vice president of NAPUS.

A service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at First Presbyterian Church in Celina. Pastor Martha Murchison will officiate. Interment will be in Good Hope Cemetery in Prosper.

Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, July 31, at Cantrell Funeral Home in Celina.

Memorials may be made to the Good Hope Cemetery Association.

Survivors include his wife of Celina; one son, Grover "Lucky" Rue of Parvin; one daughter, Nancy Jane Ferguson of Sugarland; one sister, Lanell Giles of McKinney; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ray Sadler Jr.

Ray Sadler Jr., 80, of Denton died Monday, July 30, 2001, in Cleburne.

Eula Sanford

Decatur - Eula Mae Sanford, 90, of Decatur died Monday, July 30, 2001, at Wise Regional Health System in Decatur.

She was born Dec. 30, 1910, in Cooper. Sher married Gwane Sanford in Duncan, Okla. He is deceased.

Mrs. Sanford was a retired nursing home medication aide.

She was a member of Bell Baptist Church of Decatur.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, in the chapel of Coker Funeral Home. Doug Vaughn will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Wise County.

The family will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 31, for visitation.

Survivors include five sons, Tony Pryor of Dallas, Odell Pryor and Charlie Pryor, both of Decatur, Joe Pryor of Fort Worth, and Lewis Pryor of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Jean Walke of Levelland; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. One daughter, Nita Ducharme, is deceased.

Jimmie Sparkman

Post Oak - Jimmie Margaret Chapman Sparkman, 92, of Post Oak died Sunday, July 29, 2001, in Wichita Falls.

She was born March 28, 1909, in Ellis County, to George William and Elizabeth Henrietta Zack Chapman. On June 30, 1934, she married D.C. "Slim" Sparkman, in Ryan, Okla. He died on May 6, 1996.

Mrs. Sparkman was a seamstress. She was a founder of the Post Oak Busy Bee Quilting Club.

She was a member of Post Oak Baptist CHurch, where for 59 years she taught the Senior Ladies Class.

A service was held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, July 31, at Post Oak Baptist Church. The Rev. Milton Capps, Chuck Shubert, Douglas Sparkman and Dan Sparkman officiated. Burial was in Post Oak Cemetery. Coker Funeral Home of Jacksboro was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Gregory Sparkman, Dudley Sparkman, Henry Presley III, Darrin Johnson, Ken Etchison and Justin McGrath.

Memorials may be made to the Post Oak Baptist Church Building Fund, Post Oak Cemetery or to the charity of choice.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Bagoly of Spencer Port, N.Y., Virginia Newton of Wichita Falls, and Nelda Marshall of Post Oak; three sons, George Sparkman of Springfield, Ill., Cecil Sparkman of Post Oak, and Bob Sparkman of Levelland; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. One daughter, Sandra Alexander, is deceased.

Tamatha Warschun

Sanger - Tamatha Warschun, 22, of Sanger died Friday, July 27, 2001, in New Orleans, La.

She was born March 9, 1979, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Tom and Sonja Bensen Hamner. On Sept. 25, 1999, she married Walter Daniel Warschun in Denton.

Mrs. Warschun was employed as a receptionist by Huffines Chevrolet in Lewisville.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 610 W. Windsor, Denton. Elder Don Dyal will officiate.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, July 31, at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home in Denton.

Survivors include her husband of Sanger; her parents of Sanger; one sister, Sonja Goa of Stazanger, Norway; two brothers, Tony Hamner of Stazanger, Norway, and Timothy Hamner of Denton; and her grandmother, Gudrun Rustad of Stazanger, Norway.

B.J. Wilde

Decatur - B.J. Wilde, 85, of Decatur died Monday, July 30, 2001, at his residence.

Rock Alan Reed

Rock Alan Reed of East Carbon, Utah, died in a house fire on Thursday, July 26, 2001.

He was born Sept. 27, 1959 in Babbitt, Nev., to James F. and Wanda Reed. He married Amber Stanley on July 11, 1992 in Farmington, N.M.

He is survived by his wife, Amber, and two daughters, Deonna Reed and Johnna Reed of East Carbon; a son, Christopher Alan Reed of Sanger, Texas; his parents Jim and Wanda Reed of Sanger; two sisters, Candy Atchison of Granbury and Connie Wylie of Dallas; a brother, James F. Reed Jr. of Liberal, Kan.; and his maternal grandmother, Buena Thomas of Sanger.

Memorial services were held in East Carbon on Monday, July 30th.

Local services are pending.

Olin L. Burchett

Olin Lester Burchett, 89, of Denton died Monday, July 30, 2001, at his home.

He was born Aug. 28, 1911, in Blue Ridge, to Alvin Floyd and Melvin Elizabeth (Walters) Burchett.

Mr. Burchett was a retired farmer.

He attended the Assembly of God.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, with a service following at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Goen-Hudgens Funeral Home in Denton. The Rev. Welden Burchett will officiate. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery in Denton County.

Survivors include one brother, Vaudrey D. Burchett of Fort Worth; and two sisters, Cleo Newland of Denton and Fay MacDaniels of Fort Worth.

Anita Clover

Anita Clover, 91, of Denton died Monday, July 30, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Village.

She was born Jan. 8, 1910, in Big Spring to Marquis and Susan Musgrove. On Jan. 26, 1929, she married Carlos L. Clover. He is deceased.

Mrs. Clover attended First United Methodist Church in Denton.

The service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at First United Methodist Church of Odessa. Bill Heggemeier will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Odessa. DeBerry Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Odessa or the United Way of Denton County.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Gobble of Denton; and seven grandchildren. One brother, Charles Louis Clover, is deceased.

Mildred Houghton

Sanger - Mildred "Lucille" Houghton, 88, of Sanger died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Pilot Point Care Center.

Lewis Speer

Lewis Garvin Speer, 93, of Denton died Monday, July 30, 2001, in Denton.

He was born June 4, 1908, in Beaumont to John S.V. Speer and Regina Lurline Garvin. His first wife, Nancy Henrietta Snyder, died in 1981.

Mr. Speer was retired from the Mobil Oil refinery in Beaumont after 49 years of service. He was a 33rd degree Mason and was recently honored for 60 years of service as a Mason.

Kelly-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. DeBerry Funeral Directors is in charge of local arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Turner Kellam of Denton; one daughter, Lurline DuPree of Denton; one sister, Francis Cobb of Beaumont; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

B.J. Wilde

Decatur - B.J. Wilde, 85, of Decatur died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at his home.

He was born May 4, 1916, in Windthorst. On Jan. 12, 1946, he married Mary Belle Fisher in Wichita Falls. She died April 1, 2001.

Mr. Wilde was a World War II Army veteran and was retired from the warehouse at Wise Electric Coop.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Decatur.

The service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, in the chapel of Coker Funeral Home. Jerry Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 1, for visitation.

Survivors include his son, Bill Wilde of Trinity; one daughter, Holly Laird of Decatur; one sister, Petronilla Meurer of Decatur; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.

Jake D. Kerbow

Jake David Kerbow, 15, of Denton, died at his home on Friday, July 27, 2001. He was born Oct. 15, 1985, in Denton, to David Kenneth and Katherine Annette (Chasteen) Kerbow. He was a student at Denton High School.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home with Bernie Hollingshead officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at the funeral home.

Survivors include his parents, David and Kathy Kerbow of Denton, Texas; sister, Shanda and husband Vetone Jones of Denton, Texas; brother, Heath Harmon of Denton, Texas; grandparents, Richard and Betty Kerbow of Pottsboro, Texas, and Jerry and Shirley Chasteen of Denton, Texas; and nephews and niece, Isaiah, Dion and Delaney Jones, all of Denton.

Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
