Don W. Martin

Weatherford – Don Woodhouse Martin, 96, of Weatherford, Texas, died Monday, Oct. 22, at his home.

He was born to Luther and Lula Woodhouse Martin on July 7, 1905, in the Baker Community of Parker County. He was educated in Weatherford schools and after high school graduation he attended Weatherford College, the University of Texas at Austin and graduated from the University of Missouri in 1929. He was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity.

In 1934 he joined the oil and gas division of the Railroad Commission. He was stationed in East Texas where he assisted in developing much of the system still in use in the regulation, proration and conservation of oil and gas production in Texas. After training and experience in East Texas, he was made supervisor of 14 counties in West Texas and stationed in San Angelo, Texas. In 1939 he returned to Parker County and devoted full-time to ranching in southern Parker County where he and his brother, Jack Martin, operated extensive ranch interests on property that the family had owned since 1865.

In 1933 he married Dorothy Patterson of Decatur, Texas.

He was a member of Grace First Presbyterian Church of Weatherford.

Survivors include his wife of Weatherford, his brother- and sister-in-law, Fred and Patsy Patterson of Denton; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A service will be at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Grace First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Weatherford.

Jenni Delabano

Aledo – Jenni Delabano, 21, of Denton, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, in Fort Worth.

She was born March 9, 1980, in Fort Worth to Diane and Mike Delabano. She was a 1998 graduate of Aledo High School and was a junior at the University of North Texas.

She was a leasing agent for Woodhill Apartments in Denton.

She was a member of Christ Chapel.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Christ Chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 25, at Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth.

Survivors include her parents of Aledo; one sister, Callie Delabano of Aledo; and her grandmother, Mrs. Worley Jones of Fort Worth.

Roy Ingram Jr.

Argyle – Roy E. Ingram Jr., 56, of Argyle died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001 at his residence.

He was born Feb. 12, 1945 in Sherman to Roy E. and Flora Jane Davis Ingram. In 1991, he married Deborah S. Richmond in San Antonio. He was a 1963 graduate of North Salinas High School in Salinas, Calif.

He served in the U.S. Army, training at Fort Polk, La., as a sergeant fire crewman with the Mechanized 5th Infantry. He received two purple hearts, the Army Commendation Medal for Heroism, and the Bronze Star. He was employed by Gulfstream Aerospace as a Hazardous Material Operator.

A service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. The Rev. Gary Carruth will officiate. Burial will be in the Swisher Cemetery, Lake Dallas.

Pallbearers will be Gary Pharris, Lynn Kemp, Lynn Dailey, Mike Maus, Fred "Shorty" Wilhelm and Eddie Wilhelm.

The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 25, for visitation.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Cancer Treatment and Research Center in San Antonio.

Survivors include his wife and his mother, both of Argyle; one son, Charles Wayne Ingram of Hickory Creek; one sister, Anna Louise Ferrell of Lewisville; two brothers, Johnny Wayne Ingram of Argyle, and Danny Lee Ingram of Sanger; and one grandson.

Estelle I. Stevens

Valley View – Estelle I. Stevens, 90, of Valley View, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at the Renaissance Care Center in Gainesville.

She was born Jan. 20, 1911, in Valley View and was married to Cecil Curtis Stevens.

Mrs. Stevens worked for 14 years at the University of North Texas as secretary to the board of regents and administrative assistant to the president. She received the prestigious Board of Regents Service Award in recognition of her work.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 25, at Fairview Cemetery. The Rev. John Hare will officiate. Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 751, Gainesville, TX 76241.

Survivors include her sister, Nancy Bentley of Valley View.

Bill Tyson

Dallas – William "Bill" Jack Tyson, 74, of Dallas died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at a Dallas Hospital.

He was born July 10, 1927, in Sanger to W.E. "Bud" and Anna Tyson. On June 19, 1954, he married Mary L. Vaughn in Sanger. He was a 1944 graduate of Sanger High School.

Mr. Tyson served in the U.S. Army, Infantry Division, during World War II. He was a retired electronic technician from Hewlett-Packard.

He was a member of Royal Haven Baptist Church in Dallas.

A service will be at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 25, at Royal Haven Baptist Church. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Sanger Cemetery. Coker Funeral Home is in charge arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of Dallas; one daughter, Julie A. Rawls of Cedar Hills; one sister, Josephine Tyson Stricklin of Irving; and one grandson.

Cecil White

Krugerville – Cecil Edwin White, of Krugerville, died Thursday morning, Oct. 25, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center as a result of a stroke.

He was born Oct. 24, 1924, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Roy Jefferson and Celia Ellen Gray White. He attended school in Era, St. Jo, and Gainesville. He joined the Army Air Corp. at the age of 17, serving in the European Theater with the 8th and 9th Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. He married Lucy Burgoon on Dec. 8, 1945 at the Cumberland Presbyter-ian Children’s Home in Denton, Texas.

To this union, two daughters, Martha Katherine and Sarah Rebekah were born. He worked at Love Field immediately after World War II, at Tempco Aircraft Plant, and joined the Denton Fire Department where he was a captain at Central, Station Number 4 and Station Number 2, retiring after 32 years.

He was a self-taught musician, playing the autoharp, mentoring other musicians, participating in musical festivals and "jam" sessions including Mount Springs, Glen Rose, National Bluegrass Festival at Winfield, Kan., Ozark Folk Center at Mountain View, Ark., Harps Over Texas, and the Courthouse on the Square Saturday morning musical gathering.

He was a master woodworker who began making custom autoharps and experimented with various wood and construction techniques, building several of his "Longhorn" models. He was a longtime member and elder in the Cumberland Pres-byterian Church of Denton, serving as a Sunday school teacher, youth sponsor, maintenance committee chairman, church liaison during the building of the present church on Stuart Road., and was instrumental in forming the North Central Texas Presbyterian Men’s Fellow-ship.

He enjoyed playing music, visiting with people, attending music festivals, church retreats, meeting his friends at Betty’s each morning in Aubrey, telling stories, talking about his time spent growing up in North Texas, serving in the Air Force, and sharing with others.

He loved life, enjoyed every day, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, Christian, and friend to many.

He is survived by his wife Lucy; his daughter Kathy and son-in-law Joe McIntire, of Kruegerville; his daughter Becky and son-in-law Don Jarratt of Cloudcroft, New Mexico; two grandchildren, Megan McIntire and Casey Jarratt; and one cousin, Jim White of Denton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth White.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The Rev. John Lindsay will officiate. Internment will follow at Old Alton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30, Friday evening, Oct. 26, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Denton.

Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Vie L. Johnson

Vie L. Johnson, 89, of Denton died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, in Arlington.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Arlington Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Denton.

She was born Dec. 20, 1911, in Gooding, Idaho. She was a member of Denton Senior Citizen Center and Eastern Star and was a retired bookkeeper.

Survivors include two sons, Dusky Johnson and his wife Brenda of Arlington, and James Johnson of Arlington; one daughter, Judy Johnson Leeper of Arlington; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Hunter Brooks

Hunter Ray Brooks, 2 months and 26 days old, of Denton died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at the Denton Community Hospital, Denton.

He was born July 29, 2001, in Denton to Stephen Ray and Brandi Michelle (Hunter) Brooks.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29, at the Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton. The Rev. Mark Dennison will officiate.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29, at Goen-Hudgens Funeral Home, Denton.

He is survived by his parents of Denton; and his grandparents, Lonnie and Debbie Brooks and Dean and Pat Hunter, all of Gainesville.

Hope Ivy

Decatur – Hope Elaine Massey Ivy, 44, of Decatur died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in Bridgeport.

She was born Nov. 21, 1956, in Bridgeport.

Ms. Ivy was a truck driver for York Vacuum Co. Transport.

She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., today, Sunday, Oct. 28, at Jonestown Cemetery, Wise County. Charles Taylor will officiate.

Survivors include her mother and her stepfather, Bobbie and W.L. Powell of Decatur; her father, Calvin Massey of Stephenville; one son, Corey Ray Mantooth of Bowie; one daughter, Brooke Mantooth Gravely of Cottondale; and two grandchildren.

Richard Kerr

Argyle – Richard Dixon Kerr, 74, of Argyle died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 6, 1926, in Brookport, Ill. to Verner Arthur and Grace Marie Kerr. On Jan.1, 1949, he married Arlene Munger in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Brookport High School and attended junior college in Paducah, Ky., Indiana University, and University of North Texas.

Mr. Kerr was the founder and a past minister of the Argyle Church of Christ. He had also been a minister at University Place Church of Christ in Lewisville and Justin Church of Christ in Justin, and was a counselor for the Fort Worth Independent School District.

A service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29, at Argyle Church of Christ. David Arnold and Stan Kerr will officiate. Internment will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery, Argyle.

Pallbearers will be Pete Clay, Jeremy Pockrus, Sam Gregory, Tim Wagner, Doyle Hawkins, and Chris Williford.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., today, Sunday, Oct. 28, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, Denton.

Survivors include his wife of Argyle; three daughters, Dinah Clay of Carrolton, Jeannie Gregory of Denison, and Julie Pockrus of Tucson, Ariz.; one son, Stan Kerr of Austin; one sister, Peggy Edwards of Harrisburg, Ill.; one brother, Bob Kerr of Victorville, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Cecil White

Krugerville – Cecil Edwin White, of Krugerville, died Thursday morning, Oct. 25, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center as a result of a stroke.
