Kenneth R. Francis

Kenneth Ray Francis, 33, of Denton died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 6, 1968, in Fort Worth to Joyce Fay (Talley) and Jimmy Lee Francis. He graduated from Denton High School in 1981 and was a resident of Denton State School.

A service will be at 1:30 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 2, at the Ivey Chapel at Denton State School. Dr. Dennis Schurter will officiate. Interment will follow at the Denton State School Cemetery.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Joyce and Ceylon Elgin Jr. of Fort Worth; two sisters, Jimmy Laverne Francis and Doris Ann Francis, both of Fort Worth; two brothers, Anthony Charles Francis and Christopher Gerome Francis, both of Fort Worth; and his grandfather, Harvey Lee Talley Sr. of Beckville.

Billy Bell II

Lewisville – William "Billy" Bell II, 52, of Lewisville died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 7, 1949, in Cheyenne, Wyo. to William Lane Bell and Loyce Elizabeth Leslie Bell.

Mr. Bell served in the U.S. Army during the Vietname War. He worked for TU Electric.

A service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Tim Harkins will officiate. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Seffrin of Saginaw, and Alisha Bell of Lewisville; his son, William Bell III of Lewisville; one sister, Vicky Bell of Mississippi; five brothers, David Bell of The Colony, and Chris, Roy, Bill, and Dennis Bell, all of Mississippi; and one grandson.

Jason Hanna

Anna – Jason Wayne Hanna, 25, of Anna died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 5, 1976, in Wichita Falls.

Mr. Hanna was a truck mechanic.

A service will be at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 2, at Coker Funeral Home Chapel in Sanger.

Survivors include his wife, Heather Hanna of Anna; his father and stepmother, Larry and Sherry Hanna of Farmersville; three brothers, John Hanna of Denton, and Stephen Hanna and Larry Hanna Jr. of Anna; three sisters, Sandy Clayton, Mary Meeks and Rachel Guyton, all of Farmersville; and his grandparents, Eric and Joan Zapf of Princeton, N.J.

Manuel Perez Munoz

Valley View – Manuel Perez Munoz, 78, of Valley View died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 2, 1923, to Pedro and Bernardina (Perez) Munoz, in Durango, Mexico.

Mr. Munoz was a retired farmer.

He was Catholic.

Visitation and rosary will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, Nov. 2, in the chapel of Goen-Hudgens Funeral Home in Denton.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Roselawn Memorial Park. Rigoberto Contreras will officiate.

Survivors include his wife, Matilde Munoz Andrade; five sons, Francisco Javier Munoz of Dimmit, Armando Munoz of Durango, Mexico, Jorge Munoz of El Paso, Robert Munoz of Canyon, and Manuel Munoz Jr. of Denton; four daughters, Yolanda Velasquez of Valley View, Maria Rosario Amaya of Denton, Mary Sue Simental of Denton, and Amparo Garcia of Hart; two brothers, Leonardo Munoz and Salome Munoz, both of Durango, Mexico; four sisters, Maria de los Angeles Munoz, Rebecca Munoz, Socorro Munoz, and Josepha Munoz, all of Durango, Mexico; 37 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Travis Durrett

Ponder – Travis O’Neal Durrett Sr., 85, of Ponder died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 4, 1916, in Collinsville to Milton Durrett and Nora Casteel Durrett. He married Letha Wofford on Oct. 30, 1942, in Fort Worth. She preceded him in death in 1983.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Denton County before he retired. He attended the Baptist church.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today, Friday, Nov. 2, at the Belew Cemetery in Aubrey with the Rev. Carl Robertson officiating.

He is survived by three daughters, Joyce and husband Clem Deussen of Ponder, Ginger and husband Larry Deussen of Ponder, and Dee and husband Bob McClary of Abilene; five sons, Travis Durrett Jr. of Callisburg, Gerald Durrett of Denton, Everett and wife Linda Durrett of Gordonville, Dick and wife Linda Durrett of Decatur, and Jim and wife Jackie Durrett of Ponder; his son-in-law, Pete and Mary Jo Chauvin of Nederland; two sisters, Ina Chemault of Dallas, and Clara Robertson of Arlington; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Chauvin, in 1987.

The pallbearers will be Sterling Durrett, Mel Durrett, Michael Durrett, Gary Durrett, Todd Durrett, Clem Deussen, and Ty McClary.

DeBerry Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Henry G. Stevens

Henry Grady Stevens, 78, of Denton died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 18, 1923, in Jacksonville, Texas, to Henry Grady Stevens and Ila Martin. He married Thelma Rorie on May 9, 1948. Mr. Stevens retired from the University of North Texas as a medical laboratory technician with 29 years of service.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at St. David’s Episcopal Church with Father Baines officiating.

The family will be at Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, Nov. 2, for visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma; son, Steve Stevens and wife Diane of Denton; daughter, Paula Gawne and husband Bill of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Frances Dodds of Berwick, La., and Martha Willson of Monroe La.; one brother, W.C. Albritton of Houston; three grandchildren, Robby Stevens and Marianne and Amanda Gawne.

John Earnhart

Whitesboro – John Ray Earnhart, 68, of Whitesboro met Jesus on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, Waco.

He was born April 18, 1933, in Whitesboro to John Allen and Edna Virginia Shelton Earnhart.

Mr. Earnhart was self-employed as a general contractor. He lived in Waco the past three years.

A service will be at 2 p.m. today, Saturday, Nov. 3, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Gainesville. The Rev. Travis Alford of Oak Ridge Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Whitesboro.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Shaw, Gilbert Ray Garcia, Johnny Jones, Leonard Garcia, Chase Pruett and Trece Pruett.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Orsburn of Waco and Virginia Earnhart of Denton; two brothers, Claude Earnhart of Millsap and Jim Earnhart of California; two sisters, Edna May Wright of Coleman and Lillian Marie Fleetwood of California; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Stafford Earnhart in June 1962; one son, James Earnhart in February 1984; his parents; two brothers, Dub and Clyde Earnhart; and a sister, Sue Earnhart.

Weldon Church

Weldon Dale Church, 74, of Denton died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Denton to Herbert Stanley Church Sr. and Nona Angela (Stubblefield) Church.

Mr. Church was a member of the U.S. Army and was a printer for Texas Woman’s University. He was a member of the V.F.W.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Denton.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 5, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Denton. The Rev. John Rasberry Jr. will officiate.

Goen-Hudgens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include one son, Weldon E. Church of Denton; one daughter, Christine Church-Roso of Denton; his brother, Herbert Church of Fort Worth; one sister, Fern Packer of Fort Worth; and two grandchildren.

Charles Tibbles

Charles Jaxon Tibbles, 1-month-old son of Charlie and Misti Tibbles of Denton, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at Fort Worth Hospital.

A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 4, at Alvord Cemetery, Alvord. Gene Smith will officiate.

Survivors include his parents of Denton; his grandparents, Milton and Judy Sisk of Decatur, and Dr. Kelly and Sandy Tibbles of Decatur; and his great-grandparents, Rosa Lee Neal of Decatur, Evelyn Sisk of Alvord, Molene Sumerlin of Decatur, and Rhoda Rehders of Gun Barrell City.

Percy Guillory

Rhome – Percy Marie Guillory, 86, of Rhome died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at her residence. Coker Funeral Home, Decatur.

Iva Ransom

Newark – Iva M. Ransom, 83, of Newark died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in Decatur. Coker Funeral Home, Decatur.

Sarah J. Miller

Sarah J. Miller, a longtime resident of The Vintage in Denton, passed away on Nov. 1, 2001, at the age of 94, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Mrs. Miller, who had lived in Denton since 1987, moved to Texas from Woburn, Mass., with her husband, Walter G. Miller, to be closer to their daughter.

Born Sarah Jane Brown in 1907 in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, Mrs. Miller emigrated to the United States in 1927. She married her husband in 1942. Mr. Miller passed away in 1993.

Surviving Mrs. Miller are her two daughters, M. Ann Thomas of Corte Madera, Calif., and Roberta C. Boyd of Shady Shore, Texas; five grandchildren, Megan Thomas of Oakland, Calif., Owen Thomas of Venice, Calif., Wendy Thomas of New York City, N.Y., Andrew Boyd of Denton, Texas, and Eric Boyd of Shady Shores, Texas; and many nieces and nephews in Massachusetts, Arizona, California, Canada and the British Isles.

Memorial services will be held at The Vintage and in Massachusetts at a later date.

Goen-Hudgens Funeral Home, Denton, is in charge of arrangements.
