Oliver Wendell Taylor
Dec. 28, 1932 — April 4, 2000

ROCKDALE —Services for Oliver Wendell Taylor, 67, of Rockdale are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

The Rev. Calvin Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel Church will officiate. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Taylor died Tuesday at his home.

He was born in Booneville, Ark., worked for ALCOA in the Atomizer, served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1960, having served during the Korean War, and was a member of the Rockdale Full Gospel.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Taylor of Rockdale; two sons, David Taylor of Rockdale and Michael Taylor of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Susie Elzey and Karen Todd, both of Rockdale; a brother, Bob Taylor of Fayetteville, Ark.;a sister, Pansy Plummer of Waldron, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to Parkinson’s Research.

William D. ‘Dick’ Lemons
Feb.4, 1930 — April 4, 2000

CENTERVILLE —Services for William D. “Dick” Lemons, 70, of Centerville are set for 11 a.m. Friday at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville.

Dr. Charles White of the First United Methodist Church in Centerville will officiate. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to the time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lemons died Tuesday in a Bryan hospital.

He was born in Centerville and attended Tarleton State Junior College. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and then worked at Lemons Grocery. He served as Leon County Treasurer until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Centerville and had been a member of the Lion’s Club.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bick and Jennifer Lemons of Bryan and Lane and Kim Lemons of Jackson, Tenn.; a granddaughter; a niece; and a number of cousins.

Memorials may be made to The American Lung Association, P.O. Box 26566, Austin, Texas 78755, Attn: Marie, (include donor’s name and address and deceased’s name and address). Memorials may also be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 433, Centerville, TX 75833.

William Roger Lister
May 28, 1952 — April 4, 2000

NAVASOTA —Services for William Roger Lister, 47, of Anderson are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Navasota.

The Rev. Perry Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Roans Prairie, Texas.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 7:30 a.m. to the time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lister died Tuesday at the College Station Medical Center.

He was born in Phoenix and was a machinist at a steel plant.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Love Lister of Anderson; a son, Tray Love of Anderson; four daughters, Michelle Little of Phoenix, Tasha Blue, Keisha Jessie and Kena Jessie, all of Anderson; eight brothers, Bishop Lister, Larry Lister, David Branham, Delbert Branham, Alfred Branham and Raymond Branham, all of Phoenix and Gary Lister and James Taylor, both of Los Angeles; four sisters, Gloria Jensen of Los Angeles, Beverly Horton and Linda Graham, both of Phoenix, and Alfreda Branham of Wichita, Kan.; and seven grandchildren.

George Levi Meadors
Nov. 20, 1894 — April 5, 2000

FRANKLIN —Services for George Levi Meadors, 105, of New Baden , Texas, are set for 1 p.m. Friday at the Blair-Stubbs-McCauley Funeral Chapel in Franklin.

The Rev. Dwain Steinkuehler of New Baden will officiate. Burial will be in Camp Creek Cemetery near New Baden.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family present from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Meadors died Wednesday at his home.

He was born in New Baden, was a retired farmer and had been a resident of Robertson County most of his life. He was a World War I veteran having served in the U.S. Army, and was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Ellen Meadors, and two sons.

Survivors include five daughters and two sons-in-law, Gladys Ellen Ward and Helen Acuff, both of Houston, Lucille Dittmar of Dallas, Mildred Louise and Jack Boyd of Kemp, Texas, and Melba Jean and A.Z. Boyd of Seagoville, Texas; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William R. Meadors of Dallas and Ellis Odell and Linda Meadors of Kaufman, Texas; a sister, Mozelle Cazey of Franklin, a sister-in-law, Allie Hurt of Omaha, Neb.; and numerous grandchildren.

Roy Neinast
Nov. 6, 1921 — April 4, 2000

BRENHAM —Services for Roy Neinast, 78, of Burton, Texas, are set for 2 p.m. Friday in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg, Texas.

The Rev. Larry Henrichs will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mr. Neinast died Tuesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Care in Bryan.

He was a dairy farmer until 1980 and then owned a restaurant. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Neinast of Burton; a stepson, Bobby Kloecker of Burton; a stepdaughter and husband, Elizabeth and Larry Eickenhorst of Navasota; five step-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, LaNell Neinast of Burton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg.

Doris M. ‘Dori’ Franceschini
Jan. 24,1916 — April 3, 2000

Memorial services for Doris M. “Dori” Franceschini, 84, of Caldwell and formerly of College Station, are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Rev. Kathleen Ellis of Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will officiate. Internment will be in the College Station City Cemetery.

Mrs. Franceschini died at her home Monday. She is a native of Bluffton, Ind., and was a homemaker. She worked with the United States Census for 10 years and was a longtime member of the A&M Garden Club. She was a member of the Genealogical Association, Red Cross, the Texas Research Ramblers and served in the United States Army during World War II. Mrs. Franceschini was a founding member of Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in College Station.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Arthur Franceschini.

Survivors include: Her son and daughter-in-law Guy Thomas and Sessie Franceschini of Devine, Texas, and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Carnegie Library, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship or the A&M Garden Club.

Lawrence Cress
Feb. 20, 1947 — April 3, 2000

Salem, Oregon —Memorial services for Lawrence Cress, 53, of Salem are set for 1 p.m. Sunday at Hudson Hall, Rogers Music Center at Willamette University. Services will also be held later in Spokane, Wash. There will be a private burial.

Arrangements are under the direction of Virgil T. Golden Funeral Services.

Mr. Cross died Monday.

He was born and raised in Spokane and graduated from Pacific Lutheran University. He earned a doctorate from the University of Virginia in 1976, and he joined the Department of history at Texas A&M University in 1977, rising from assistant to full professor. He later served as director of the University Honors Program, and as assistant provost. He left Texas A&M University in 1987 for the University of Tulsa, where he served as chair of the Department of History and Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences. While in Bryan, he was an active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Cress; a daughter, Meghan Cress of Salem; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Cress of Spokane; and three sisters, Connie Clark of Everett, Wash., Laurie Reid of Tualatin and Rhonda Lee of Spokane.

Memorials may be given to Lawrence D. Cress Excellence in Faculty Scholarship Award, c/o Office of the President, Willamette University, 900 State St., Salem, OR 97301.

Mary Francis Trahan
Dec. 25, 1944 — April 3, 2000

HEARNE — Services for Mary Francis Trahan, 55, of Spring, Texas, are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Minerva, Texas.

The Rev. Bobby Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mrs. Trahan died Monday at Woodlands Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas.

She was born in Austin, was a computer engraver and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, James C. Trahan of Spring; a son, Larry Whitely of Rockdale; a stepson, Tray Trahan of Houston; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Joe Templeton of Hearne; three stepbrothers, Wayne Eby Jr. of Fentress, Texas, Paul Eby of Alburqurque, NM, and Gerald Eby of Stillwater, Okla.; a sister, Nancy Angell of Austin; two stepsisters, Tanya Thurman of Waxahachie, Texas and Sherry Churchwell of San Marcos, Texas; her mother, Mary Cloud Eby of Fentress, Texas; two grandchildren; and a niece and nephew.

Waldon Orr
June 9, 1912 — April 5, 2000

Services for Waldon Orr, 87, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

The Revs. Morris House, Harral Dunnam and Bob Richers of First United Methodist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Orr died Wednesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Care Center.

He was the owner of Orr’s Super Markets in Bryan until his retirement in 1970. He was a former board member of Norwest Bank of Bryan. He also served on the board of directors of Affiliated Foods of Dallas, serving one term as president. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Adele S. Orr of Bryan; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Carl E. and Lena Orr and James B. “Jimmy” Orr, all of Bryan; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Raymond and Vera Mae Syptak of Austin.

Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
