Murry Edgar Rodgers
March 20, 1936 — April 6, 2000

ROCKDALE — Services for Murry Edgar Rodgers, 64, of Martinsville,Texas, are set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, Texas.

The Rev. Randy Ford will officiate. Burial will be in Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Tanglewood, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Rodgers died Thursday in his home.

He was born in Lexington, Texas, and spent 34 years as a pipeliner. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include special friend Wanda Broadway of Martinsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Murry Lee and Rhonda Kay Rodgers of Martinsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Thomas E. and Nora Williams of Center, Texas; five grandchildren and two grandchildren-in-law; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas.

Betsy N. Piraino
June 16, 1920 — April 6, 2000

Services for Betsy N. Piraino, 79, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan.

The Rev. John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Bryan.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A rosary will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Piraino died Thursday at St. Joseph Manor.

She was born in Hearne, Texas. She was a homemaker and co-owned Lee’s Radio and T.V. Service. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and St. Anthony’s Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Piraino.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Ann Piraino; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Jo Louise Burley of College Station, Lawrence and Mary Ann Pavlas of Tomball, Texas, Andy and Barbara Mann of College Station and Rick and Linda Reeves of Dallas; a sister and brother-in-law, Sam and Catherine Pry; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Calvert H. Wiley

Calvert H. Wiley, 94, passed away April 8, 2000 in Bryan, Texas. He was born September 19, 1905 in Mercer County, Kentucky. Mr. Wiley was a member of Central Christian Church in Bryan and a retired Minister of the Gospel.

Mr. Wiley was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, on March 7, 2000.

Survivors include his children, Ruth Ann Sweeney, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday April 12, 2000 at San Fernando III, 1735 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas.

Lillie Ruth Rinehart
Oct. 20, 1932 — April 6, 2000

Service for Lillie Ruth Rinehart, 67, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.

The Rev. Johnny Sloan of Rock Prairie Baptist Church of College Station will officiate. Burial will be at Independence Cemetery in Shiro.

Mrs. Rinehart died Thursday in Singleton.

She was born in Cross, Texas. She was the retired postmaster for Singleton, Bedias and Shiro. She was a member of the National and Central Studebaker Club.

Rinehart was preceded in death by her father, George Washington Morris, and her son, John Dean Rinehart.
Survivors include her husband, John Henry Rinehart, of Singleton; her sons and daughters-in-law Harrel Gene and Barbara Rinehart, of Winnewood, Okla.; Neal Wayne and Mary Ann Rinehart, of Wemptuka, Okla.; her daughter and son-in-law Mary Suzanne and Danny Chancellor, of Holdenville, Okla.; her mother Vernice Morris, of Singleton; and sister Norma Ellen Talasek, of Bryan. She had eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Peter Frank Bilski

May 18, 1940 — April 7, 2000

A rosary for Peter Frank Bilski, 59, will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday in the Memorial Oaks Chapel by St. Joseph’s Council No. 3287 Knights of Columbus and at 7 p.m. Monday by Msgr. Benedict Zientek

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham. Msgr. Zientek will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Brenham.

Mr. Bilski died at his home Friday.

He was born in Washington County and graduated from Brenham High School. He was a general superintendent for Chappell Hill Construction Company for 37 years. He served as past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3287 and was active in the Polish Heritage Festival at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He also served in the National
Guard.

Survivors include his mother, Maggie Twardowski Bilski of Sealy; his wife, Theresa Worchesik Bilski, of Brenham; son Calvin Bilski, of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law Cynthia and Ray Coufal, of Sugarland; Carol and Troy Seeker, of Brenham; brothers and sisters-in-law Billie Jr. and Betty Bilski, of Houston; Paul and Josie Bilski, of Chappel Hill; Otto and Nancy Bilski, of Katy; Daniel Bilski, of Houston; Joseph and Carolyn Bilski, of Sealy; sisters and brothers-in-law Anita and John Swoboda, of Sugarland; Barbara and Alois Janda, of Missouri City; Larry Okonski, of Houston; and three grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brazos Valley Hospice or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Faye Bice
Dec. 30, 1917 — April 8, 2000

Services for Faye Bice, 82, of Navasota are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Bro. Glen Murphy of the First United Pentecostal Church in Navasota will officiate. Burial will be in Wixon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bice died Saturday at her home.
She was born in Bryan and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Navasota.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie C. Bice.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Carlie and Cleo Bice of Anchor Point, Alaska, Charlie C. Jr. and Karen Bice of Bryan, Robert L. and Sandy Bice of Mason City, Iowa, and Earl and Carla Bice of Franklin; seven daughters and six sons-in-law, Ruby and Kenney Massingill of Spanaway, Wash., Geneva and Orvile Lee Leisure of Pensacola, Fla., Joyce and Dale Pointer of Longview, Texas, Tami Harmel Perkins and Jim Perkins and Billie Popham and Stanley Mable, all of Millican, Gloria and Nicolas “Stacio” Lara and Geri Hahn, all of Navasota; 49 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth ‘Becky’ Fields
Jan. 14, 1956 — April 8, 2000

Graveside services for Elizabeth “Becky” Fields, 44, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Oakland Cemetery in Navasota.

The Rev. James Whiting of New Testament Missionary Baptist Church will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Fields died Saturday in Brazos Valley Geriatric Center.

She was born in Grimes County.

Survivors include a son, Christopher Pate of Angleton, Texas; three daughters, Melissa Pate and Elizabeth Kelly Smith, both of Bryan and Brandy Renee Pierson of Chriesman, Texas; a half-brother, Greg Fields of Las Vegas, Nev.; a stepbrother, Larry Carney of Houston; a stepsister, Cathy Fields of Las Vegas; her mother and stepfather, Sarah Hammett and Wayne Plaag of Bryan; her stepmother, Wilma Fields of Bryan; and two grandchildren.

Ed Pink Freeman
Oct. 10, 1924 — April 8, 2000

ROCKDALE — Services for Ed Pink Freeman, 75, of Rockdale are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home Chapel in Rockdale.

The Rev. Bob Hendrick of Meadowbrook Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Mexia Cemetery in Mexia, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Freeman died Saturday in Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

He was born in Limestone County, Texas, and had lived in Rockdale for 48 years. He was retired as a supervisor with Texas Utilities after 34 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rockdale.

Survivors include his wife, Margie M. Freeman of Rockdale; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul and Martha Freeman of Rockdale and Mickey Freeman of Houston; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Gifford of Rockdale; a sister, Bertha Johnson of Marietta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

John Henry
Nov. 5, 1928 — April 7, 2000

Services for John Henry, 71, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in College Station.
The Revs. Malcolm Bane and David Roland of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in College Station City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station and from 1 p.m. to the time of the services Wednesday at the church.

Mr. Henry died Friday in College Station Medical Center.
He was born in Waco and had lived in College Station since 1976. He was retired from the Texas A&M Agricultural Extension Service after 29 years and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was past president of the Mended Hearts Association local chapter, and was a member of the Sul Ross Masonic Lodge No. 1300 in College Station, the Retired Texas A&M Ag Economics Association, the Texas A&M Retirees Club, the National Association for Federal Retirees and the American Legion.

He was a charter member of Parkway Baptist Church and was a member of the First Baptist Church in College Station, where he served as usher and was a member of the Cornerstone Couples Sunday school class.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Emmons Henry of College Station; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Diane Henry of St. Louis, Mo., and Scott and Leslie Henry of Wichita Falls, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Maribeth Henry and Allen Appleby of Arlington, Texas; a brother, Dr. James W. Henry Jr. of Garland, Texas, a sister, Esther Marie Anderson of Arlington, Texas; and five granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to the local Mended Hearts Association, the Masonic Lodge No. 1300, First Baptist Church of College Station Building Fund or to a charity of choice.

Wynell ‘Teeny’ Hardwick Matthews
Feb. 10, 1934 — April 10, 2000

CAMERON — Services for Wynell “Teeny” Hardwick Matthews, 66, of Rockdale are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.

The Revs. Calvin Springer and Larry Holden will officiate. Burial will be in Marlow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Matthews died Monday in a Rockdale hospital.

She was born in the Marlow Community and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rockdale, where she was a member of the G.A. group. She served as vice president of the St. Edwards Hospital Auxiliary in Cameron.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Matthews.
Survivors include two sons, David K. Matthews and Ricky L. Matthews, both of Rockdale; a daughter, Donna G. Abbott of Belton, Texas; three brothers, Terry Hardwick of Cameron, William Dees of Conroe, Texas, and Leland Dees of Deer Park, Texas; a sister, Helen Laverne Allison of Cameron; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ruth Elizabeth Bolling Keener
Sept. 13, 1923 — April 8, 2000

DALLAS — Memorial services for Ruth Elizabeth Bolling Keener, 76, of Bryan are set for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Bryan.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sparkman-Hillcrest at Northwest Highway in Dallas. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas.

Mrs. Keener died Saturday in College Station.

She was born in Abilene and lived in Dallas for 50 years before moving to Bryan. She was a homemaker and was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, where she was president of the Woman’s Missionary Union, was a Sunday School teacher, organizer of the intercessory prayer group and leader of all mission work. She was the founder of the Northcrest Literary Club of North Dallas, officer of the Knife & Fork Club, member of the Mentor Club of Dallas and served as president of PTA for her children’s schools.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald F. Keener.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald F. Keener Jr. of Waco and Thomas Eugene Keener of Dallas; a daughter, Ann Elizabeth Holt of College Station; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Margaret and Leo Thurmond of Lubbock; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Bryan, music ministry.

Dianne Raymond Lyon
Oct. 20, 1935 — April 8, 2000

HOUSTON — Memorial services for Dianne Raymond Lyon, 64, of Huntsville, Texas, are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Huntsville.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kenneth E. Clark Funeral/Cremation Service in Houston.

Ms. Lyon died Saturday.

She was a member of the LPGA and was a co-owner of a TCBY in Huntsville.

Survivors include Jann Lyon and Rae Lyon Lee, John Brimeyer and Boone and Britlyn Lee, all of Centralia, Mo., and Dale Dotzler of Elkins Lake.

Memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.

Antoinette ‘Toni’ Miley
April 9, 1916 — April 9, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Antoinette “Toni” Miley, 84, of Navasota are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stoneham, Texas.

The Rev. Ben Smaistrla of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Houston will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.

A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Miley died Sunday in College Station Medical Center.

She was born in Ellis County, Texas, and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stoneham.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Benjamin L. Miley.

Survivors include three sons, Richard Charles Miley of Charlotte, N.C., David Lawrence Miley of Albuquerque, N.M., and James A. Miley of Portland, Ore.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Maggie and Edon Spearin of Phoenix, Ariz., Barbara Justus of Loveland, Colo., and Kathy Harlan of Hemet, Calif.; two brothers, Carl Langer of Lometa, Texas, and Frank Longer of Franklin; a sister, Annie Smith of Lometa; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
