Kathryn Mathis Conlee
June 22, 1928 — April 13, 2000

Kathryn Conlee, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on April 13, 2000. She was affectionately known as “Honey” by all who knew and loved her.

April 13th was not just any day, but the very calendar day that our dad, Donald Conlee, died in 1996. We see this as God’s way of bringing perfect completion for us. We will forever reflect on how blessed we have been by both our parents, in their living and in their dying. Their character and individual strengths molded our lives. Their courageous acceptance of disease and suffering led them to focus on giving to us all peace, love, humor, and above all, faith.

Mother’s parents were Homer and Vera Mathis of Bryan. As an only child, she lived to honor them, enjoy them and finally, give complete loving care to each of them until their deaths.

First Baptist Church, Eunice Sunday School Class and the Lois Class she taught were her loves. Adding to that list would have to be her life as a Hospice volunteer, working at the Food Bank, the Women’s Prison Ministry, the Women’s Club and just being a special friend to so many. She loved her neighbors, the “Girls” she ran around with, the Spinners group and any and all bridge partners through the years.

Kathryn is survived by her three children, Kay Conlee, Kathy Keefer and Mark Conlee; five grandchildren, Allison Lawless Tucker, Whitney Lawless Currie, Grant Conlee Lawless, Donald Mark Conlee Jr. and Kelli Jean Conlee; Kathy’s husband, George Keefer, Mark’s wife, Cathy Conlee, Allison’s husband, Jon Paul Tucker, and Whitney’s husband, Jason Currie. Four year- old Cooper Reed Currie, Kathryn’s only great-grandchild, brought a smile to Honey’s face and a twinkle to her eye that all observed.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. We welcome you to the funeral services that will celebrate our mother’s life on Monday, April 17th at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas. Our mother will be buried at the Bryan City Cemetery.

Pall bearers for mother’s service will be family members, Donald Mark Conlee Jr., Grant Conlee Lawless, George Keefer and Jon Paul Tucker; along with her special friends, Clem Gallagher, Sam Sharp and Collin Martin.
