Services for Elzie Mae Grear-Burton, 60, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Houston.

The Rev. Darrell Ray Grear will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Burton died Saturday in Ben-Taub Hospital in Houston.

She was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church and she lived in Houston.

Survivors include her husband, Travis Burton of Houston; a son, Reginald Pierce of Houston; three sisters, Jean Newman Hall of Alexandria, La., Linda Grear Wardsworth of Houston, and Patsy Jackson of El Paso; three brothers, Lem Grear Jr. and Milton F. Grear, both of Houston and Donald Earl Martin of Bryan; her mother, Loraine Gray of Bryan; and a host of other relatives.

Sherri Diane Harris
Oct. 17, 1969 — April 21, 2000

Services for Sherri Diane Harris, 30, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at United Full Gospel Baptist Church in Bryan.

Milton Gooden of the New Testament Pentecostal Church will officiate. Burial will be in New Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Miss Harris died Friday in Houston.

She was born in Brazos County and was a member of New Testament Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Bria Gordwin of Bryan; five brothers, Richard McKinney, William Harris, and Harold Harris, all of Bryan, Terry Harris of Hamden, Conn.., and Dexter Harris of Dallas; two sisters, Lene Bookman of Houston and Jacqualine Harris of Bryan; and her mother, Alline Harris of Bryan.

Mattie Landin Valerian
Dec. 28, 1940 — April 22, 2000

Memorial services for Mattie Landin Valerian, 59, of Bryan are set for 5 p.m. Thursday at the Callaway-Jones Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Lee Cochran of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church will officiate.

Mrs. Valerian died Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Health Care Center.

She was born in Galveston, was the manager for the cosmetics department at a local Kroger for the past 10 years, was a beautician and a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sharon Valerian of Bryan; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Gene Landin of Enid, Okla.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Bill Sheridan of Spain.

Patricia Dale MacGilvray
Feb. 11, 1944 — April 22, 2000

A funeral service and a memorial service have been scheduled for Patricia Dale MacGilvray, 56, of Chicago and Bryan.

Funeral services are set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Faith United Methodist Church in Illinois. A memorial service is set for 5 p.m. Sunday at A&M United Methodist Church in College Station.

Arrangements are under the direction of Morgan Memorial Home in Illinois.

Mrs. MacGilvray died Saturday at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill.

She was born in Birmingham, Ala., was a graduate of Illinois State University, taught school in College Station from 1977-1994 and was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and A&M United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Eric MacGilvray and Brian MacGilvray, both of Chicago; and a daughter, Katherine MacGilvray of Champaign, Ill.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Dora Seelke Berry
Dec. 31, 1903 — April 25, 2000

ROCKDALE — Services for Dora Seelke Berry, 96, of Rockdale are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

The Rev. O.E. Davidson of Milam County Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Berry died Tuesday in Rockdale.

She was born in Milam County and was an elevator operator at the University of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John H. Seelke, and her second husband, Harvey Lowell Berry.

Survivors include three sisters, Annie Holder of Brenham, Lillie Bell Conner of Austin, and Dolly Florence Lewis of Rockdale; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and a great-great-grandson.

Cecil Brown
Feb. 26, 1926 — April 25, 2000

Services for Cecil Brown, 74, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Tim Owens will officiate. Graveside services are set for 3 p.m. Friday at Lake Chapel Cemetery in Fairfield, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan and from 9 a.m. to the time of services Friday at the church.

Mr. Brown died Tuesday in the College Station Medical Center.

He was born in Fairfield, spent 36 years as an educator from 1950 until 1986, serving as a teacher, principal, and superintendent. He was a member of Business Men’s Bible Class, and a member of the Fairfield Masonic Lodge #103, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bryan. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a certified deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Brown of College Station; two daughters and a son-in-law, Suzanne Platt of Dumfries, Va., and Donna and Jon Williams of Sugarland, Texas; four sisters, Vera Grace Bowen of Bishop, Texas, Josephine Cawlfield and Mytle L. Brown, both of San Antonio, and Kathryn Burton of Mesquite, Texas; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 1299, Bryan, Texas 77806.

Frank Cotropia
June 10, 1909 — April 26, 2000

HEARNE — Services for Frank Cotropia, 90, of Hearne are set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hearne.

The Rev. Emilian Foltyn of St. Joseph’s Church in Dime Box will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Cotropia died Wednesday in Hearne.

He was a retired farmer, was the secretary of the Hearne Cotton Compress, the Director of Westbrook Valley Gin, and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Cotropia of Hearne; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Sam Morello of Denver; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Louise Glover
Jan. 26, 1923 — April 25, 2000

Graveside services for Louise Glover, 77, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Bryan City Cemetery.

The Rev. Betty Carroll of Liberty Christian Fellowship will officiate.

Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan is in charge of all the arrangements.

Mrs. Glover died Tuesday in Bryton Inn Health Center.

She was born in Ava, Mo. and lived in Bryan most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Glover.

Survivors include a son, Tommy Glover of Bryan; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Robert Wright of Bryan; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruby and Jack McConathy and Neva Miller, all of Whitney, Texas; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Willie Mae Wehmeyer
Feb. 4, 1922 — April 26, 2000

BRENHAM — Services for Willie Mae Wehmeyer, 78, of Brenham are set for 2 p.m. Friday in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Salem, Texas.

The Revs. Bill Derrick and Charles Treptow will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mrs. Wehmeyer died Wednesday in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham.

She was born in Welcome, Texas, was the retired co-owner of Brenham Upholstery and Trim, a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Salem and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Wehmeyer.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Billy Dannhaus of Brenham; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Wilbert and Bernice Eickhoff of Brenham; a brother-in-law, Melvin Draehn of Brenham; and three sisters-in-law, Ruth Wehmeyer and Lillian Folschinsky, both of Brenham and Eileen Wehmeyer of Alvin, Texas.

Memorials may be given to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Salem or to a favorite charity.

Harold Lorenz
March 31, 1937 — April 25, 2000

BRENHAM — Services for Harold Lorenz, 63, of Houston are set for 10 a.m. Saturday in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Salem, Texas.

The Revs. Bill Derrick and Charles Treptow will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mr. Lorenz died Tuesday in a Spring Branch hospital.

He was born in Salem, was a retired shop foreman in the transportation department of Tomball Independent School District, was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Salem, and was a reserve Harris County deputy sheriff for 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo-Ann Lorenz of Houston; three grandchildren; a daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Dawn and Rodney Waters of Spring, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Hilda Lorenz and George and Walline Lorenz, all of Brenham; six sisters and five brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Ervin Blome of Houston, Esther and Eugene Lehmann and Mildred Holle, all of Brenham, Dorothy and Charles Keng of Houston, Betty and Billy Schaefer of Temple, Texas, and Carolyn and Richard Martin of South Lake, Texas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marian Wehmeyer, Dorothy and Lonnie Addicks and Nell and Ervin Parker, all of Brenham, Clarence and Francis Wehmeyer of Austin, Lenert Earl and Becky Wehmeyer and Judy and Richard Stephens, all of Houston; and numerous other relatives.

Memorials may be given to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Salem.

Paul C. Blue
Oct. 13, 1911 — April 24, 2000

HEARNE — Services for Paul C. Blue, 88, of Hearne are set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hearne.

The Rev. Roach will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Hearne.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mr. Blue died Monday in Franklin.

He was born in Wheelock, Texas, and was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his daughter, Adda Bell Clark of California; a sister-in-law, May Bell Blue of Hearne; and a niece, Mitty Sadler of Hearne.
