Louis Lovelace
June 25, 1956 — June 14, 2000

Memorial services for Louis Lovelace, 43, of Bryan are set for 7 p.m. Friday at his home, 3415 Parkway Terrace in Bryan.

The Rev. Phillip Lovelace will officiate.

An additional service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion Baptist Church in Brownsville, Tenn., with the Rev. Phillip Lovelace officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Lovelace died Wednesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Brownsville, Tenn., and had lived in Bryan for 11 years. He was an interior decorator and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caldwell.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. Phillip and Sandra Lovelace of Brownsville; his parents, Hobert and Carolyn Lovelace of Brownsville; a nephew; and a great-nephew.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memphis, Tenn. 38001 or to the American Diabetes Association.

Billie Jo Jones
April 23, 1937 — June 15, 2000

BEDIAS — Memorial services for Billie Jo Jones, 63, of the Cross community near Iola are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cross Freewill Baptist Church in the Cross community.

The Rev. Dan Beckley of Katy, Texas, will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Bedias.

Mrs. Jones died Thursday.

She was born in San Pedro, Calif.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Shuman of Iola; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Katie Clark of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Jim Clark of Houston; his mother, Anna Sybil Peterson Fern of Dallas; a sister, Virginia Fern of Houston; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hazel Dooley
May 30, 1907 — June 15, 2000

Services for Hazel Dooley, 93, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Burial will be in Concord Cemetery in Iola.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.

Miss Dooley died Thursday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Bedias and had lived in Bryan for 58 years. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and was retired after 47 years as a teacher in Grimes and Brazos counties.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center.

Howard Gilmore Hitchcock
May 2, 1919 — June 15, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Howard Gilmore Hitchcock, 81, of Caldwell are set for 4 p.m. Sunday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

The Revs. Norman Heisler and Bob Owens will officiate. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery.

Mr. Hitchcock died Friday in Burleson/St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell.

He was born in Burleson County and was a member of Cook’s Point Brethren Church. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a retired teacher, having taught in Houston and Somerville.

Survivors include three brothers and a sister-in-law, Philip “Bobby” and Joyce Hitchcock, Grabow Hitchcock and Andrew Hitchcock, all of Caldwell; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Bettye and Choron Grimsley of Center, Texas, Inez and Ernest Emerson of Bryan and Doris Brewer of Caldwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Willie Lee Jurode Jr.
Oct. 2, 1955 — June 9, 2000

HEARNE — Services for Willie Lee Jurode Jr., 44, of Hearne are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the St. Emanuel Baptist Church in Hearne.

Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Robertson Funeral Chapel in Hearne.

Mr. Jurode died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Hearne.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Ann Jurode of Hearne; his mother, Dorothy L. Jurode of Hearne; a daughter, Joyce Jeffery of Fort Worth; a son, Willie Jurode IV of Hearne; three stepdaughters, Jancie McClenton, Ella “Twinkle” Murphy and Sara Fina Smith, all of Hearne; two step-sons, Anthony Lee Jurode and Donald Davis, both of Hearne; six brothers and three sisters-in-law, the Rev. Kenneth Jurode of Woodville, Texas, Henry and Alberta Jurode of College Station, Samuel and Constance Jurode of Hearne, Melvin Earl and Crystal Moten of Wilmington, Del., Lee Murray Jurode of Beaumont, Texas, and Ernest Norwood of Koedale, Texas; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sharry Jurode and Agnes and A.J. Samuel, all of Hearne, Annie and Maurice Bradley of Bryan and Katy Mae Love of Calvert; ex-wife, Deborah Ann Murphy of Hearne; ex-in-laws, Ella Burns and Calvin Burns Sr., both of Hearne; and numerous other relatives.

Virgie Patryla
Nov. 3, 1919 — June 14, 2000

BREMOND — Services for Virgie Patryla, 80, of Bremond are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremond.

The Rev. Josef Musiol of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Peiskee Funeral Home Chapel in Bremond.

Mrs. Patryla died Wednesday in Marlin, Texas.

She was a lifelong resident of Bremond. She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Patryla.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Betty and Kie Fitz and Shirley Magouirk, all of Marlin, and Joan and James Polansky of Houston; two brothers, Louis Kowalski of Jacksonville, Texas, and Johnny Kowalski of Houston; two sisters, Christine Novak and Rosalie Leone, both of Houston; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Bessie Mae Richardson
Aug. 30, 1927 — June 11, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Bessie Mae Richardson, 72, of Navasota are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Center Point Baptist Church in Plantersville.

The Rev. Tommie Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mrs. Richardson died Sunday in Grimes St. Joseph Health Center in Navasota.

She was born in Plantersville and was a homemaker. She was a member of Center Point Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ella Woods of Navasota; a brother, Willie Paldo of Navasota; ten sisters; Kattie Paldo, Emma Tilford, Anna Turner, Josephine Jackson; Laura Bennett, Nella Kerl and Dorothy Matthews, all of Navasota, Erma Mallard of Plantersville, Ella Bates of Baytown, Texas, and Laura Gibbs of Livingston, Texas; her mother, Millie Anderson Paldo of Navasota; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Irene Elsa Minna Schwartz
July 13, 1914 — June 15, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Irene Elsa Minna Schwartz, 85, of Deanville are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Deanville.

The Rev. Grant Housewright will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Ms. Schwartz died Thursday in Burleson/St. Joseph Health Center in Caldwell.

She was a lifelong resident of Deanville and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and O.D.H.S. Lodge No. 301 in Deanville.

Survivors include a sister, Alberta Dworsky of Deanville; a nephew; and two nieces.

Mary Ann Shear
Sept. 13, 1931 — June 14, 2000

HEARNE — Services for Mary Ann Shear, 68, of Hearne are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Church in Hearne.

The Rev. Marlon Sparks of Perryton, Texas, will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mrs. Shear died Wednesday at her home.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Shear.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Edward and Margaret Shear of Hearne and Charles Kenneth and Judy Shear of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Amy Lynn and Adam Ruiz Sr. of Hearne; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Doris and Clifford Campbell of Beaufort, S.C., and Kathleen Bartholomew-Dahlman of Bellmore, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or St. Joseph Regional Cancer Center.

Annie Mae Summers
Nov. 15, 1911 — June 13, 2000

ROCKDALE — Services for Annie Mae Summers, 88, of Rockdale are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

The Rev. Doug Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel Church will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Summers died Tuesday in Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston.

She was born in Milam County and was a lifelong resident of Rockdale. She was a member of the Rockdale Christian Church and worked for the telephone company for many years and as a bookkeeper for the Rockdale State Bank.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Burton Summers.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dick and Gail Summers of Parker, Colo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Don Hickling of Pearland, Texas; a brother, Henry Tyler of Bryan; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mildred H. Beckham
Oct. 3, 1917 — June 17, 2000

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Services for Mildred H. Beckham, 82, of Memphis are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Chapel in Memphis.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Beckham died Saturday in St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.

She was a former resident of Bryan and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bryan, the Woman’s Club, Daughters of the American Revolution and OPAS Guild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Beckham Sr.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia B. Bunkley of Florence, Ky.; a son, John B. Beckham Jr. of Germantown, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Bryan.
