Services for Joshua Davis Gray, 20, of Bryan are set for 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan.

The Rev. John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gray died Wednesday at his home.

He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and was a junior at Texas A&M University in industrial distribution. He was a state champion gymnast and a collegiate champion in Tae-Kwon-do. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Rhonda and Stephen Pearce of Bryan; his father and stepmother, Jefferson D. III and Valerie Gray of Arlington, Texas; fiancé, Kristi L. Webb of Bryan; two brothers, Bradley Gray and Benjamin Gray, both of Arlington; a sister, Candice Gray of Arlington; grandparents, Mary and Fred N. Greig Jr. of Hilltop Lakes, Texas, Stephen and Mabel Pearce of Bryan, Jeff Gray and Kathleen Wilson of Johnson City, Texas, and Barbara Gray of Midland; and great-grandmother, Lera Seigler of Navasota.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 E. 26th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803 or to Still Creek Boys Ranch, 6055 Hearne Road, Bryan, Texas 77808.

James Ervin Hall
April 12, 1937 — June 21, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Graveside services for James Ervin Hall, 63, of Navasota are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Park Cemetery in Madisonville.

The Rev. Dean Ferguson will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville.

Mr. Hall died Wednesday in Navasota.

He was born in Houston and was later adopted by Nick and Hannah Hall.

Survivors include two half-sisters, Pearl Mae Pratt and Jeannette Elizabeth McDaniel, both of Houston; an aunt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clarence Payne Batson
Oct. 21, 1907 — June 21, 2000

NORMANGEE — Services for Clarence Payne Batson, 92, of Normangee are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ in Normangee.

Bros. Will Odom and Lanier Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.

Mr. Batson died Wednesday at his home.

He was a lifelong resident of Normangee and was retired as a self-employed barber. He was a member of the Normangee Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Batson of Normangee; two stepsons and a daughter-in-law, Leonard Lee Shelton of Houston and Charles Wayne and Peggy Shelton of Normangee; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Dorothy Coker
Nov. 1, 1934 — June 21, 2000

CORSICANA, Texas — Services for Dorothy Coker, 65, of Corsicana are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Pentecostal Church in Corsicana.

The Revs. Gary Johnson and Tony Neal will officiate. Burial will be in Eureka Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana.

Mrs. Coker died Wednesday in Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas.

She was born in Roane, Texas, and worked for the Texas Miller Hat Factory.

Survivors include her husband, Arnold Coker of Corsicana; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Becky Coker of College Station and Jacky and Ruby Coker of Corsicana; a brother, Roger Bates of Thornton, Texas; three sisters, Doris Curry and Donnie Dobbs, both of Corsicana, and Brenda Willis of Thornton, Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Delores Jean Evans
March 5, 1950 — June 21, 2000

Services for Delores Jean Evans, 50, of Tunis are set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Old Bethlehem Baptist Church in Tunis.

Bishop James McBride of New Jerusalem Christ Holy Sanctified Church will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mrs. Evans died Wednesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Tunis and had lived there for 44 years. She was retired from Texas A&M University and was a member of the New Jerusalem Christ Holy Sanctified Church.

Survivors include her husband, Samuel Evans of Tunis; two sons, Wesley Whitfield of Bryan and Shadrick Whitfield of Huntsville, Texas; a daughter, Lula “Mookie” Brownlee of College Station; a step-daughter, Anquinetta King of Arlington, Texas; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Michael Lewis of Philadelphia, Daryle and Alisha Lewis of Lancaster, Texas, and Brandon and Vivian Williams of Anchorage, Alaska; six half-brothers, Gary Walker, Kenneth Walker and Stanley Walker, all of Dallas, Kevin Walker of Plano, Texas, Victor Farley and Hubert Figgers, both of Lancaster; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Annie and Albert Isom of Somerville, Edna and Lavon Thompson of Tunis, Brenda Wilson of Lancaster and Linda and Kim Ridley of Dallas; seven half-sisters, Eraline Sims of Red Oak, Texas, Cleodist Moore of Portland, Ore., Regina Elverton of Grand Prairie, Texas, Beatrice Adams, Shelia Anderson, Debra Walker and Hernanetta Harris, all of Dallas; her parents, Jess and Dimple Jerkins of Caldwell; grandmother, Hallie Lewis of Tunis; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation.

Hattie Ray Smothers
Dec. 1, 1894 — June 21, 2000

Services for Hattie Ray Smothers, 105, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. G.H. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mrs. Smothers died Wednesday at her home.

She was born in Burleson County and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. She was a member and founder of Fairview Baptist Church. She was a member of Eastern Star and was president of the Mission Society. She was a retired homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tol Smothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Johnnie Mae Johnson of Bryan; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church.

H.B. Nix Jr.
Jan. 18, 1933 — June 19, 2000

Services for H.B. Nix Jr., 67, of Caldwell are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Old Bethlehem Baptist Church in Tunis.

The Rev. Herbert Nix will officiate. Burial will be in Oldham Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mr. Nix died Monday in Burleson St. Joseph Health Center in Caldwell.

He was a lifelong resident of Burleson County and was a farmer and rancher.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jones Nix of Caldwell; three sons, Billy Nix, Bobby Nix and Herman Nix Jr., all of Caldwell; two brothers, the Rev. Herbert Nix of Caldwell and Ermis Nix of Houston; and two sisters, Justyne Nix Silas and Mrs. Aaron Hammond, both of Caldwell.

Velma Udell Elliott
Dec. 31, 1908 — June 21, 2000

Services for Velma Udell Elliott, 91, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan.

The Rev. John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Bickham Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Mrs. Elliott died Wednesday in Sherwood Health Care in Bryan.

She was born in Brazos County and was a lifelong resident of the Tabor community. She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Curtis Elliott.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Syble Elliott of Portland, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Johnnie Hein of Bryan; a sister, Alice Jane Batten of Franklin; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Stained Glass Window Fund.

MADISONVILLE — Graveside services for Crystal MacKenzi Goodrum and Christina Morgan Goodrum, twin infant girls, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Jozye Cemetery in Madisonville.

The Rev. Kathie Rush of Central Assembly of God Church will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville.

Crystal and Christina died Wednesday in Christus St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston.

Survivors include their parents, Ted Derrell Goodrum Sr. and Linda Vanette Brown; two brothers, Austin Tyler Brown and Ted Derrell Goodrum Jr.; grandparents, Phyliss J. Brown of Manvel, Texas, L.V. Brown of Houston, H.R. “Sonny” and Belinda Goodrum of Madisonville and Rocky Darlene and M.B. “Hoot” Gibson of Point Blank, Texas; great-grandparents, Eunice M. and Luther V. Brock of Garland, Texas, Derrell N. and Billie J. Taylor of Woodville, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Elizabeth Tinsley Hensarling
Nov. 5, 1906 — June 22, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for Elizabeth Tinsley Hensarling, 93, of Madisonville are set for 3 p.m. Friday at the North Madison Church of Christ in Madisonville.

Bros. Lanier Stevens and Jeff Witcher will officiate. Burial will be in the Madisonville City Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville.

Mrs. Hensarling died Thursday in Madisonville.

She was born in Madisonville and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She volunteered with the Boy Scouts, underprivileged children and the Houston Public Schools. In 1952 she was awarded a Texas life membership in the Parent Teachers Association and served 10 years as a merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Lee Hensarling; and two sons, Jesse Tinsley Hensarling and James Farrar Hensarling.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Glynn S. and Elaine Tinsley of Grapeland, Texas; two daughters-in-law and a son-in-law, Alma Hensarling of Houston and Betty and Kenneth Lehman of Brenham; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a niece; a nephew; and numerous other relatives.

Thomas Earl ‘Tommy’ Lewis
Nov. 22, 1952 — June 22, 2000

CALDWELL — Graveside services for Thomas Earl “Tommy” Lewis, 47, of Chriesman, Texas, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Chriesman Cemetery in Chriesman.

The Rev. Milton Maly will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mr. Lewis died Thursday at his home.

He was born in Galveston and was a residential painter.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Ann Lewis of Chriesman; his mother and stepfather, Willie Dean and Roy Lewis of Chriesman; a son and daughter-in-law, Earl Lewis and Laura Marie Jones of Chriesman; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Kim Wellbrock and Ralf Marx of Katy, Texas, and Tracy Wellbrock and Hadley Havel of College Station; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria and Robert Koronga and Lillie Lewis and Shane Arnold, all of Bryan, Connie Phillips and Mike Glauda and Alana and Jason Pounders, all of Caldwell, and Lisa and Ron Eguia of St. Louis; a grandson; four stepgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
