H.L. ‘Lonnie’ Kasner
Jan. 12, 1927 — June 21, 2000

MARLIN, Texas — Services for H.L. “Lonnie” Kasner, 73, of Marlin are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Marlin.

The Rev. Alan Six will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Kasner died Wednesday in a Temple hospital.

He was born in Barclay, Texas, and was a lifelong resident of Falls County. He was a retired rancher and was a member of Trinity Memorial Baptist Church in Marlin. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the VFW Post in Mart, Texas. He was also a member of the McClanahan Riding Club.

Survivors include his wife, Millie Kasner of Marlin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sally and Glenn Merryman of Franklin and Jo Ann and Dan Brooks of Kiowa, Colo.; two brothers, Gus Kasner Jr. of Thorndale and C.C. “Duck” Kasner of Marlin; two sisters, Lorraine Jordan of Big Spring, Texas, and Caddie Olsen of Austin; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the Trinity Memorial Baptist Church in Marlin.

Minnie E. Melcher
Nov. 13, 1926 — June 21, 2000

ROCKDALE — Services for Minnie E. Melcher, 73, of Rockdale are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor, Texas.

The Rev. Wayne Schumpe of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Ms. Melcher died Wednesday in Manor Oaks Nursing Center in Rockdale.

She was born in Lee County, Texas, and had lived in Rockdale for seven years. She was formerly of Fedor, Texas, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include five brothers, Richard G. Melcher of Rockdale, Ludwig Melcher and Martin Melcher, both of Houston, Frederick Melcher of Temple, Texas, and John Melcher of Lincoln, Texas; three sisters, Anna Spieker of San Angelo, Texas, Ottilie Hanusch of Little River, Texas, and Louise Beran of Mart, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Elsworth Robertson
Feb. 8, 1942 — June 18, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Elsworth Robertson, 58, of Houston are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Truevine Baptist Church in Navasota.

The Rev. James Lee of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Navasota will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mr. Robertson died Sunday in Methodist Hospital in Houston.

He was born in Grimes County and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Houston.

Survivors include a daughter, Keturha Robertson; a brother, Johnny Robertson; and five sisters, Matnova Mouton, Marie Walker, Jewel Fletcher, Wealthy Love and Shirley Harris.

E. Arthur Ross
June 4, 1918 — June 19, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for E. Arthur Ross, 82, of Huntsville, Texas, are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Huntsville.

The Rev. Andrew Issac will officiate. Burial will be in the Old Colony Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Williams & Sons Funeral Home in Huntsville.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home in Madisonville.

Mr. Ross died Monday.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Ross of Huntsville; a sister and brother-in-law, Novella and James Clark of Huntsville; a brother and sister-in-law, Lenard and Freddie Robinson of Houston; two half-sisters, Hattie Hill of Seattle, and Jimmie Lee Justice of Houston; two daughters, Alfreda Ross of New Waverly, Texas, and Jurline Terrell of Madisonville; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Thurston and Minnie Jordan of Madisonville, Will and Sandra Byrd and Bobby and Betty Byrd, all of Huntsville, and Ambrose Byrd of Houston; a foster son, Greg Spencer and his wife, Jewel, of Houston; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Denise Coufal Yauger
April 28, 1963 — June 21, 2000

BRENHAM — Services for Denise Coufal Yauger, 37, of Brenham are set for 4 p.m. Saturday at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Salem, Texas.

The Revs. Bill Derrick and Charles Treptow will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mrs. Yauger died Wednesday near Brenham in an auto accident.

She was born in Temple, Texas, and was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. She worked at Scott & White Hospital in Temple and was a medical transcriptionist in Brenham. She was a Girl Scout leader for Troop 346, a volunteer at Alton Elementary School and Brenham Junior High School, volunteer coordinator at Brenham Elementary School. She was also a seamstress.

Survivors include her husband, Vincent Yauger of Brenham; a son, Travid David Cox of Brenham; a daughter, Bonnie Suzanne Yauger of Brenham; her parents, David and Jean Coufal of Zabcikville, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, David Jr. and Peg Coufal of Austin; a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Don Frei of Westphalia, Texas; grandmother, Jean Craig of Temple; father-in-law, William L. Yauger and his wife, Ethel, of Slidell, La.; mother-in-law, Jennie Butler of Petaluma, Calif.; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Fran and Jeff Shriver of Glendale, Calif., John Yauger of Arlington, Wash., Bruce Yauger of Los Angeles, and Kristy Yauger of Tallahassee, Fla.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Mission, 500 E. Academy, Brenham, Texas 77833 or to Bread Partners of Washington County, P.O. Box 1202, Brenham, Texas 77834.

Roxie A. Reed
Sept. 8, 1908 — June 18, 2000

LUBBOCK — Services for Roxie A. Reed, 91, of Lubbock are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater St. Luke Baptist Church in Lubbock.

The Rev. J.H. Ford will officiate. Burial will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Ossie Curry Funeral Home in Lubbock.

Mrs. Reed died Sunday in Lubbock Health Care Center.

She was born in Hearne and had lived in Lubbock for 55 years. She was a member of the Greater St. Luke Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mirte Reed.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmie Reed and Earnest Reed, both of Lubbock; a daughter, Minnie Hayes of Fresno, Calif.; two sisters, Dealie M. Jennings of Bryan and Loraine Stockling of Dallas; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Annie Pauline Green
Nov. 21, 1914 — June 22, 2000

FRANKLIN — Services for Annie Pauline Green, 85, of Franklin are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.

Bobby Sullivan of Franklin will officiate. Burial will be in Stranger Cemetery in Falls County, Texas.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Green died Thursday in Franklin.

She was born in Thornton, Texas, and lived most of her life in Franklin. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Riley Green.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joe Bob and Gloria Green of Easterly, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Laquita and Laddie Williams of Franklin; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Monroe John Goldberg
Aug. 15, 1931 — June 23, 2000

BURTON — Services for Monroe John Goldberg, 68, of Burton are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rehburg.

The Rev. Larry Henrichs will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.

Mr. Goldberg died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

He was born in Rehburg, Texas, and was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served on the council. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Burton American Legion. He worked at the Texas A&M University Experiment Station and was also a farmer, rancher and taxidermist.

Survivors include his wife, Nora Lee Goldberg of Burton; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Debbie Goldberg of Burton; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Marcus Randermann of Brenham; a brother and sister-in-law, Berry Lee and Delores Goldberg of Burton; father-in-law, Marvin Struck Sr. of Burton; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lavern and Verna May Reuter of Brenham and Marvin Jr. and Jodie Struck of Somerville; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg or to a charity of choice.

Gene D. Hart
March 24, 1936 — June 18, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Gene D. Hart, 64, of Navasota are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Navasota.

Mr. Larry Reina of the Kingdom Hall of Navasota will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mr. Hart died Monday at his home.

He was born in Wellman, Texas, and lived in Navasota for 26 years. He was an engineer with Oilwell Tubular Consultants. He held bachelor and master degrees from Texas Tech University and had worked for Phillips Petroleum, Aerojet General and Grant-Prideco for 18 years. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Navasota.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Hart of Navasota; a daughter, Susan Hart of Navasota; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell and Nancy Hart of Bedford, Texas, and Jerry and Mable Hart of Flower Mound, Texas; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James and Harriet Booher of Santa Rose, Calif., and Robert and Ann Booher of Temecula, Calif.; and his mother-in-law, Virginia Booher of Navasota.

Leon A. Jones
July 8, 1916 — June 21, 2000

Services for Leon A. Jones, 83, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Bill Magee of Northview Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Rest-Ever Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services at the funeral home.

Mr. Jones died Wednesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Franklin and was a member of Northview Baptist Church. He worked at Adams Resource for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Jones of Bryan; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Iva and James King of Palmer, Alaska, Gerry and Milton Pack of Bryan and Shirley “Sarah” Jones of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two brothers, George H. Jones Jr. of Sun City, Ariz., and Royce H. Jones of Columbia, S.C.; four sisters-in-law, Daisy Huff of Palestine, Texas, Irene Schornak of Taylor, Mich., Mary Thomas of Houston and Grace Falkner of Alburn, Wash.; a brother-in-law, Kelly Thomas of San Diego; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Victoria Viola Young
March 20, 1919 — June 23, 2000

CAMERON — Services for Victoria Viola Young, 81, of Cameron are set for 2 p.m. Sunday in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.

The Rev. James E. Lafferty will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Young died Friday in a Cameron hospital.

She was born in Livingston, Texas, and was retired from the manufacturing and restaurant business.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doris Merl Young.

Survivors include a son, Herman Young of Richardson, Texas; a sister, Mary Black of San Antonio; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
