FRANKLIN — Graveside services for Eleanor Grace Askey Hurley, 91, of Franklin, La., are set for 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Franklin Cemetery in Franklin, Texas.

Chuck Weber of the First United Methodist Church in Franklin will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Blair-Stubbs-McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.

Mrs. Hurley died Saturday in the Franklin Health Care Center in Franklin, La.
She was born in New York and lived in Franklin, La., for 26 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Dr. Albert S. Hurley.

Emma Christensen Ladewig
March 17, 1917 — July 4, 2000

BRENHAM — Graveside services for Emma Christensen Ladewig, 83, of College Station are set for 9 a.m. Thursday at Danevang Cemetery near El Campo, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church in College Station with the Rev. Craig Borchardt officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.
Mrs. Ladewig died Tuesday in Bryan.

She was born in Danevang, Texas.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert Hugo Ladewig of College Station; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald Ladewig of Bryan and Howard and Kathi Ladewig of College Station; a brother and sister-in-law, Oscar and Elsie Christensen of El Campo; a sister and brother-in-law, Helga and Wilbur Jensen of Houston; a sister-in-law, Ollie Christensen of Victoria, Texas; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 2201 Rio Grande, College Station, Texas 77845.

Katie Mae Waldon
April 11, 1936 — June 27, 2000

Services for Katie Mae Waldon, 64, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Washington Chapel Baptist Church in College Station.

The Rev. E.E. Garvin of Washington Chapel Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in College Station Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mrs. Waldon died June 27 at her home.

She was born in College Station and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. She was retired and was a member of Washington Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jeremiah Waldon Sr. of Bryan; two sons, Bradley Paul Waldon of Bryan and Jeremiah Waldon Jr. of Euless, Texas; five daughters, Diane Sims of College Station, Kathy Waldon Williams of Jacksonville, N.C., Sandra Waldon Green of El Paso, Beverly Waldon Love and Vanessa Waldon, both of Bryan; three brothers, Jerry Sims, Dan Sims and Elijah Sims, all of Dallas; three sisters, Elizabeth Rose of Oklahoma City, Bertha Waldon and Ruthie Glover, both of College Station; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley.

Pam Martin Strobo
Aug. 20, 1950 — July 3, 2000

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Pam Martin Strobo, 49, of Somerville are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Rockdale.

Melanie Welsh will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Ms. Strobo died Friday at her home in Somerville. She was born in Rockdale, and was a data pulse manager with the Texas Hospital Association for 20 years. She retired to Somerville in 1996, and loved to travel, read and cross stitch.

Survivors include her son, Robert Strobo of Austin; one daughter, Christina Strobo of Austin; two brothers, Thomas Martin and Derwood Martin, both of Somerville; and her mother, Oma Glaser of Cameron.

Robert Lane Allen
May 22, 1962 — July 4, 2000

Services for Robert Lane Allen, 38, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Galilee Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Revs. John Foster Sr. of Galilee Baptist Church and Maurice Green Jr. of Lily of the Valley will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Daniel & Son Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Allen died Tuesday in Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.

He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and was a member of Galilee Baptist Church. He was employed by Varsity Ford.

Survivors include a son, Tony Childs of Bryan; a daughter, Gabrielle Allen of Bryan; his parents, James Allen Sr. and Johnnie Mae Allen, both of Bryan; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, James Jr. and Joyce Allen of Carrollton, Texas, the Rev. Donald Sr. and Margret Allen of Dallas, Frederick Sr. and Linda Allen, Michael Allen and Harvey Allen, all of Bryan; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Mamie Auston, Beverly and Robert Scott, Narla and Robert Lockett and Jackie Allen, all of Bryan, and Deborah and Lawrence Green of Arlington, Texas.

Memorials may be made to Galilee Missionary Baptist Church.

Mary Alice Deegan
July 22, 1934 — July 4, 2000

Services for Mary Alice Deegan, 65, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Callaway-Jones Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Tim Skaggs, associate pastor of Central Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Steep Hollow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Deegan died Tuesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Bryan and returned to Bryan in 1990. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a member, secretary and past president of The Newcomer’s.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Deegan.

Survivors include a son, John M. Deegan of College Station; two daughters and a son-in-law, Danice and Paul Corbin of Bryan and Susan Deegan of Greensboro, N.C.; her mother and step-father, Ina Dyess and Thomas Browning of Bryan; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Brazos County Division, 3833 S. Texas Ave. No. 216, Bryan, Texas 77802.

Matthew Neal Harris
July 20, 1993 — July 5, 2000

HEARNE — Services for Matthew Neal Harris, 6, of Franklin are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Franklin Baptist Church in Franklin.

The Rev. Jim Manning of Franklin Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Little Mississippi Cemetery near Franklin.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Friday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

Matthew died Wednesday in Fairfield, Texas.

He was born in Bryan and was a student at Franklin Elementary School. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents, Neal and Leslie Harris of Franklin; two brothers, Canton Harris and Cade Harris, both of Franklin; a sister, Heather Harris of Cameron; grandparents, O.L. “Bubba” and Martha Anne Harris of Hearne, John Vernon and Bina Stegall of Franklin and David Reagan of Bremond; great-grandparents, Cora Harris, Roland E. “Teeny” Luster, both of Hearne, and Geneva Reagan of Bryan.

Hazel E. McClain Baird
Aug. 12, 1906 — July 4, 2000

TEMPLE, Texas — Services for Hazel E. McClain Baird, 93, formerly of Temple are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Hewett Funeral Home in Temple.

The Revs. Theiss Jones and Luther Dillard will officiate. Burial will be in Greathouse Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Baird died Tuesday in a Cameron nursing home.

She was born in Davilla, Texas, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Temple. She worked for Temple I.S.D. in food services for 14 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Edwin Baird.

Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Virginia Calvery of Temple, Frances Griffin of Somerville, Anna Belle and Joe Row of Azle, Texas, and Betty and Kevin Harmon of Cameron; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen Milton and Gloria Baird of San Angelo, Texas; a sister, Myrtle Henson of Sherman, Texas; a sister-in-law, Vallie Jean Trusler of Henderson, Texas; a brother-in-law, Winston Shillito of El Paso; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Temple Library or Music Department.

Alma Faye Beasley
July 27, 1912 — July 3, 2000

FRANKLIN — Services for Alma Faye Beasley, 87, of League City, Texas, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Franklin Church of Christ in Franklin.

James Sterling of the Franklin Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Jaybird Cemetery in Springtown, Texas, near Fort Worth.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.

Mrs. Beasley died Monday in Webster, Texas.

She was born in Olney, Texas, and had lived in League City for three and a half years. She formerly lived in Franklin for 24 years. She was retired as a medical secretary and was a member of the Franklin Church of Christ and the Betty Martin Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution in Temple, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Beasley.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Bill Stephenson of Houston; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Diana Beasley of Katy, Texas, and David and LaBelle Beasley of Houston; a sister, Ione McDaniels of New Orleans; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Franklin Church of Christ, P.O. Box 1175, Franklin, Texas 77856, or to a charity of choice.

Naomi B. McNeil
Aug. 28, 1923 — July 6, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Naomi B. McNeil, 76, of Ruidoso, N.M., are set for 2 p.m. Monday at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso.

The Rev. Johanna Anderson of the United Community Methodist Church in Ruidoso will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mrs. McNeil died Thursday in Grimes St. Joseph Health Center in Navasota.

She was born in Lucas, Kan., and was a homemaker. She was a member of the United Community Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. “Jack” McNeil.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Marvin G. and Hilde McNeil of Irvine, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Myrna Joy and Ira E. “Bud” Haynie of Anderson; a brother, Wilbur McGuire of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Anita and J.V. Isbell of Wichita; and Vivian Urban of Lucas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Daryl Van Minor Jr.
Nov. 24, 1984 — July 5, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Daryl Van Minor Jr., 15, of Navasota are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church in Navasota.

Burial will be in St. Holland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Navasota and from 10 a.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the church.

Daryl died Wednesday in Navasota as a result of an auto accident.

He was born in Temple, Texas, and was a student at Navasota High School.

Survivors include his parents, Ritasha T. Warren and Daryl V. Minor Sr.; three sisters, Neisha, Kieana and Adanya; grandparents, Eula V. and George West, Pearl and Chuckie Harris, Master Lee Minor and Gene C. Goree; and great-grandparents, Joe Smith, Corine Ross and V. Ella Bright.
