June 8, 1958 — July 2, 2000

CALDWELL — Memorial services for David Lee Northcliffe, 42, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the College Station Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Bishop Clair Nixon will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mr. Northcliffe died Sunday near Caldwell as a result of an auto accident.

He was born in New Haven, Conn., and was a longtime resident of College Station. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in biochemistry.

Survivors include his mother, Hilda Northcliffe of San Antonio; a brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Christy Northcliffe of College Station; a niece; and a nephew.

Rose Marie Northcliffe
May 6, 1963 — July 2, 2000

CALDWELL — Memorial services for Rose Marie Northcliffe, 37, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the College Station Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Bishop Clair Nixon will officiate.

Mrs. Northcliffe died Sunday near Caldwell as a result of an auto accident.

She was born in Lilo-An, the Philippines, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the College Station Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include her father and step-mother, Jose and Rosa Baguio of Lilo-An; two brothers, Ronald Baguio and Norman Baguio, both of Lilo-An; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Chona and Roel Gugalbot, Susan Baguio and Mae Baguio, all of Lilo-An; and two nieces.

Wilbert Schroeder
Sept. 11, 1919 — July 3, 2000

BRENHAM — Services for Wilbert Schroeder, 80, of Crockett, Texas, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in William Penn, Texas.

The Rev. Matthew Jacobs will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m., at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mr. Schroeder died Monday in Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin, Texas.

He was born in William Penn and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a truck driver and warehouse supervisor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Schroeder.

Survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Patti Schroeder of Crockett, Michael and Billie Schroeder of Brazoria, Texas, Bobby Ray Schroeder of Houston and Gene Pugh of Conroe, Texas; two sisters, Martha Schroeder and Esther Klussman, both of Brenham; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Norma Louise Moss Outlaw
Oct. 20, 1925 — July 6, 2000

Services for Norma Louise Moss Outlaw, 74, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Tim Owens of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Private burial will be at Brookside Cemetery in Houston with the Rev. John Free officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan and from 1 p.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the church.

Mrs. Outlaw died Thursday at her home.

She was born in Robertson County and had lived in Bryan for five years. She was a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church in Bryan, where she was in the Eunice Sunday school class.

Survivors include her husband, H.H. “Harry” Outlaw of Bryan; a son, Gary Outlaw of Denver, Colo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Jimmy Poncio of Tomball, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Edna Moss of Robertson County and R.H. and Willie Moss of Decatur, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Jack Fulton of Robertson County; two grandchildren; eight nieces; and five nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Bryan Building Fund, P.O. Box 1299, Bryan, Texas 77803; The Outlaw Scholarship Fund at East Texas Baptist University, 1209 N. Grove, Marshall, Texas 75670; or to Hospice Brazos Valley, 205 East 29th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803.

Maria L. 'Nellie' Solis
Aug. 2, 1930 — July 6, 2000

HEARNE — Services for Maria L. “Nellie” Solis, 69, of Hearne are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hearne.

The Rev. Scott Mikkelson of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Jose Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Solis died Thursday in College Station Medical Center.

She was born in Wheelock and was a lifelong resident of Hearne. She was a homemaker and ran a small grocery store and the Elranchito Café for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Nieves Solis of Hearne; three sisters, Eulalia Avila of Bryan, Margaret Garcia of San Antonio and Stella Dodson of Hearne; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thelma Childs Robb
Sept. 10, 1915 — June 27, 2000

HEARNE — Graveside services for Thelma Childs Robb, 84, of Belton, Texas, are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacramento Memorial Lawn in Sacramento, Calif.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mrs. Robb died June 27 in Parkplace Manor in Belton, Texas.

She was born in Modoc County, Calif., and was a former resident of Bryan for 10 years and Hearne for 10 years. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Hearne Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Robb.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Clinton and Paula Childs of Sacramento and Waland and Nora Childs of Carnation, Wash.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Maxine and Dr. Ronald Huddleston of Belton and Daphine Rose of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Phyllis Bowers and Barbara Slinkard, both of Alturas, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Charles J. Floyd
Sept. 1, 1925 — July 6, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Charles J. Floyd, 74, of Plantersville are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home in Navasota.

The Rev. Larry Andrews of Carlos Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Smith-Floyd Cemetery in Plantersville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Floyd died Thursday at his home.

He was born in Plantersville and was a retired teacher and rancher. He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Sam Houston State Teachers College and did post-graduate studies at the University of Houston. He was a member of the Texas State Teachers Association, Texas Retired Teachers Association, American Legion Post No. 640 in Anderson, Disabled American Veterans, the 75th Division Veterans Association, military Order of the Purple Heart, Planters Masonic Lodge No. 147, Grimes County Grays Camp No. 924 and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine S. Floyd of Plantersville; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Stephen and Diana Floyd of Richmond, Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Lynn Morgan of McDade, Texas, and Rebecca Ann and Jackie Yates of Center, Texas; a brother, Ralph Floyd of Plantersville; a sister, Della Marsh of Woodville, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Charles Shield Bates
May 11, 1923 — July 8, 2000

BRENHAM — Services for Charles Shield Bates, 77, of Brenham are set for 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Brenham.

The Dr. Wesley Wellborn and Glynn Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mr. Bates died Saturday in Fayette Memorial Hospital in LaGrange, Texas.

He was born in Marland, Okla., and attended Oklahoma military Academy and Oklahoma State University. He was retired as regional manager with Colgate-Palmolive Company, where he worked 40 years. He sang in the First United Methodist Church choir and served on the Church Council Finance Committee. He served in the U.S. Airborne 82 Division during World War II and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was also a past master of the Brenham Graham Masonic Lodge No. 20, was a member of the Arabia Temple Shrine for 33 years, was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 144, was past president of the Blinn Shriners Club and served on the Brenham City Council for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Kiesewetter Bates of Brenham; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Edward Kelm of Brenham; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Erwin and Carolyn Kiesewetter of Halletsville, Texas; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Cecelia and Paul May of Brazoria, Texas, Dorothy and Roberial Boenker and Nancy and Richard Coghlan; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Brenham.

Laura Rebecca Douthitt
March 4, 1899 — July 7, 2000

CENTERVILLE — Services for Laura Rebecca Douthitt, 101, of Buffalo are set for 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Centerville.

The Revs. Al Draper of the First Baptist Church in Wylie, Texas, and Larry Ashley of the First Baptist Church in Centerville will officiate. Burial will be in Gum Springs Cemetery in Flynn, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m., at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville.

Mrs. Douthitt died Friday in a Buffalo nursing home.

She was born in Flynn and had lived in Buffalo for four and a half years. She formerly lived in Wylie, Texas, where she owned and operated Douthitt Variety Store for 25 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wylie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Heard Douthitt.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Clarence R. and Bernice Douthitt of Centerville; a daughter, Imogene Whitley of Buffalo; three daughters-in-law, Tommie Douthitt, Gertie Douthitt and Martha Simmons; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Ida Pietz
July 28, 1897 — July 7, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Ida Pietz, 102, of Caldwell are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

The Rev. Grant Housewright will officiate. Burial will be in Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.

Mrs. Pietz died Friday at Bryton Inn Health Care Center in Bryan.

She was born in Burleson County and was a member of Elizabeth Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a sister, Maria Lesering of Austin; a son-in-law, Monroe Slater of Pasadena, Texas; and a grandson.

Milady M. Rychlik
Dec. 27, 1906 — July 8, 2000

CALDWELL — Graveside services for Milady M. Rychlik, 93, of Caldwell are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at New Tabor Cemetery near Caldwell.

The Rev. Henry E. Beseda will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mrs. Rychlik died Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in the New Tabor community of Burleson County and was a member of the Caldwell Brethren Church and the New Tabor SPJST Lodge No. 17. She was a seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Rychlik.

Survivors include a sister, Ella Beseda of McAllen; two nephews; and eight nieces.
