Dorothy Emilie Sielski Ish
Dec. 14, 1914 — July 22, 2000

Services for Dorothy Emilie Sielski Ish, 85, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Rev. Msgr. John Malinowski will officiate. Burial will be private.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ish died Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Laredo and had lived in Bryan for 60 years. She was a retired department supervisor with the Texas A&M University Book Store. She was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Daughters of the Confederacy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Welcker Ish.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy Kay and T.P. Lackey of Bryan; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Regional Health Center, Attn: Foundation, P.O. Box 993, Bryan, Texas 77805-9936.

Pedro Trevino
Feb. 1, 1933 — July 22, 2000

Services for Pedro Trevino, 67, of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Santa Teresa Catholic Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Victor Robles of Santa Teresa Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Tunis.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Trevino died Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Premont, Texas, and had lived in Caldwell all of his adult life. He was a farmer and was a Catholic.

Survivors include a stepson and daughter-in-law, Manuel and Maydell Bazan of Caldwell; a son, San Juan Trevino of Caldwell; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Ann Trevino of Caldwell and Christina Trevino and Jaime Rodriquez of Bryan; a brother, Eliseo Trevino Jr. of Corpus Christi; three sisters, Esperanza Trevino of Louisiana, Maria Trevino and Jovita Trevino, both of Corpus Christi; his mother, Felicitas Trevino of Corpus Christi; and seven grandchildren.

Milfred ‘Jim’ Hiram Barker
Sept. 9, 1932 — July 21, 2000

MARBLE FALLS, Texas — Services for Milfred “Jim” Hiram Barker, 67, of Marble Falls are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Marble Falls.

Bro. Kenneth Womack will officiate. Burial will be in Marble Falls City Cemetery.
Mr. Barker died Friday.

He was born in San Antonio and had lived in Marble Falls since 1968. He served three years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Marie Barker of Marble Falls; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Johnny and Debbie Briggs of Marble Falls, Ricky and Wendy Briggs of Shirley, Ark., Robert Barker of Bryan, Dwayne and Sherelle Briggs of Pflugerville, Texas, and Milfred Hiram Barker III of Brownwood, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Bud McCorkle of Marble Falls; a brother, William Barker of San Antonio; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Elmer and Faye Beam; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Jewell and Jim Denniston, Louise and Harvey Childress and Bertha and Orval Summers; two sisters-in-law, Annette Layton and Janette Goodman; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Maurice Dew II
Nov. 10, 1917 — July 21, 2000

Services for Maurice Dew II, 82, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Burial will be in Wellborn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Dew died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Ennis, Texas, and had lived in College Station for 25 years. He graduated from Texas A&M University in Range Forestry was retired as a range specialist on the Navajo Indian Reservation for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Harris Dew.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Maurice III and Mary Ann Dew of Fort Worth and Craig Dew of College Station; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Clay Gilbert of Bryan and Karen and Tim Kelly of College Station; and two grandchildren.

Leathia Hill
Aug. 17, 1914 — July 19, 2000

Services for Leathia Hill, 85, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Larry T. Hall of Shiloh Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in New Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

A wake service will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hill died Wednesday in Sherwood Health Care.

She was born in Grimes County and had lived in Bryan for 80 years. She was retired from Bryan Hospital and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Court of Calantha and a was member of the choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hill.

Survivors include five sons and three daughters-in-law, James and Vivian Hill of Houston, Norris Ray and Cynthia Hill of Lawton, Okla., Robert H. and Margie Hill of Humble, Texas, Alvin Hill and Kelvin Hill, both of Bryan; six daughters and a son-in-law, Clementine Randle, Deloris Asberry and Linda and Clarence Chatham, all of Bryan, Pearline Armstrong of San Francisco, Robbie J. Clark and Ruby Lois Hill, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Dezera Hill of Missouri City, Texas; a sister, Edna Mae Broom of Denver; 40 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church.

James McGrath
Feb. 18, 1916 — July 23, 2000

Services for James McGrath, 84, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel-College Station.

Burial will be in College Station Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. McGrath died Sunday in Southwood Nursing Home.

He was born in Shreveport, La., and had lived in College Station for 2 1/2 years. He was a veteran of World War II and received a bachelor’s degree from LSU and a doctor of law from Tulane School of Law. He served with the district attorney and later opened his own practice. He served two terms as district attorney in Jefferson County and retired in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Jamie McGrath of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and James Massey of College Station; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Brazos Valley Animal Shelter.

Eva Herzog Podraza
March 12, 1925 — July 22, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Eva Herzog Podraza, 75, of Montgomery, Texas, are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville.

The Rev. Edward C. Kucera Jr. of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Cemetery in Houston.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the church.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mrs. Podraza died Saturday in Southwood Nursing Home.

She was born in Dobbin, Texas, and had lived in Montgomery for a number of years. She was retired from the Houston Post and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Podraza.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, George Sr. and Pauline Herzog of Dobbin; two sisters, Theresa Herzog and Minnie Frick, both of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jose Rocha
March 18, 1928 — July 22, 2000

Services for Jose Rocha, 72, of New Braunfels, Texas, are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan.

The Rev. John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Rest-Ever Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel-College Station and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel-College Station.
Mr. Rocha died Saturday in Bryan.

He was born in Bryan and had lived in New Braunfels for 25 years. He was a retired civil service auditor for the U.S. Army Reserves and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW in New Braunfels. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Angelina Rocha of New Braunfels; a stepson, John Rincon of College Station; his mother, Ramona Rocha of Bryan; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Nick Rocha of Arlington, Texas, Larry and Sara Rocha of Houston and Johnny Rocha of Bryan; a sister and brother-in-law, Josie and Joe Marino of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund.

Alvin Floyd Halbrook
May 27, 1914 — July 23, 2000

Services for the Rev. Alvin Floyd Halbrook, 86, of Bryan are set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Danny Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Halbrook died Sunday in Sherwood Health Care.

He was born in Womack, Mo., and lived in Bryan since 1945. He was a member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church and was a pastor in Texas since 1945. He received a master’s degree in sociology from Texas A&M University in 1955.

Survivors include his wife, Ida Frances Halbrook of Bryan; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Alvin E. and Kathy Halbrook of Bryan and Timothy Halbrook of Temple, Texas; a daughter, Melanie Halbrook of Bryan; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church.

Raymond Walley Cox
Nov. 10, 1932 — July 25, 2000

HEARNE — Services for Raymond Walley Cox, 67, of Hearne are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethany Baptist Church in the Bethany community.

The Rev. Eddie Mayo of Elliott Baptist Church in Elliott, Texas, will officiate. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery in Jewett.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mr. Cox died Tuesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Jewett and lived in Hearne for many years. He was retired from the Pacific Fruit Express (P.F.E.) Railroad and served in the National Guard. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Alma Cox of Hearne; a son and daughter-in-law, Weldon Walley and Carlon Cox of Hearne; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Patrick Burnett of Fairfield, Texas; a half-brother, Charles Cox of Houston; and four sisters, Louvinia Bosley of Spring, Texas, Mozell Sessums and Lois Goffree, both of Maysfield, Texas, and Jaunnetta Pace of Aransas Pass, Texas.

Jimmy A. Fojtik
Aug. 4, 1931 — July 24, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Jimmy A. Fojtik, 68, of Brownwood, Texas, are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

The Revs. Henry Beseda and Del Miller will officiate. Burial will be with military honors in Hranice Cemetery near Dime Box, under the auspices of VFW Post No. 4458.

Mr. Fojtik died Monday in Brownwood Regional Medical Center in Brownwood.

He was born in West, Texas, and was a retired maintenance foreman for the Texas School for the Deaf. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of VFW Post No. 4458. He was a cross-country motorcycle enduro rider for 16 years, claiming the international title three times and the state title 13 times.

Survivors include his wife, Rosette Balcar Fojtik of Brownwood; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Emil and Evonne Fojtik of Georgetown, Texas, and J.D. and Gladys Fojtik of Tomball, Texas; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Angelina Morriss and Lydia Luza, both of Bryan, Hatti and Lee Poehl of Somerville, Mary Ann and Charles Barak of Austin and Grace and Jimmy Rosenkranz of Red Rock, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
