Mable White
June 23, 1907 — July 26, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Mable White, 93, of Stoneham are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Martinville Baptist Church in Navasota.

The Rev. Wilbert H. Sargent of High Point Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in McDonald Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mrs. White died Wednesday in Specialty Hospital in Houston.

She was a member of High Point Baptist Church, the Christian Home Workers and Heroines of Jerico Most Ancient Matron Court No. 450.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Booker T. White.

Survivors include three daughters, Ruby White of Stoneham, Barbara Walker and Mable Dockins, both of Houston; 17 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Charles Phillip Sikes
Nov. 20, 1936 — July 24, 2000

Services for retired Maj. Charles Phillip Sikes, 63, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Chapel-College Station.

The Rev. Butch Smith of Living Hope Baptist Church in College Station will officiate. Burial will be in College Station Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.

Maj. Sikes died Monday at his home.

He was born in Chambers County, Ala., and had lived in College Station since 1997. He was retired after 20 years of service with the U.S. Air Force. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University and a master’s degree in computer science from Texas A&M University. After his retirement, he worked for Unitron in Dallas until 1991. He was a member of the Radney Chapel in Roanoke, Ala., and was also a member of the VFW Post 14000, the Disabled American Veterans Texas Chapter 101 and the Retired Officers Association.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles P. Jr. and Debby Sikes of College Station and Blake Elliott Davies Sikes of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynde and Herb Flanagan of College Station; a brother, Wayne Sikes of Chelsea, Okla.; Margie Sikes of College Station; and four grandchildren.

Robert H. Harnisch
Jan. 28, 1941 — July 26, 2000

BURNET, Texas — Services for Robert H. Harnisch, 59, of Gatesville, Texas, are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Edgar Funeral Home Chapel in Burnet.

Burial will be in Post Mountain Cemetery.

A Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Harnisch died Wednesday in Temple, Texas.

He was born in LaCrosse, Wis., and was a former resident of Killeen, Texas, and Burnet.
Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sue and Ronnie Weigant of Mesquite, Texas, Ann Weigant of Rowlett, Texas, Tericia and Gary Moore of Wellborn and Betty Singleton of Huntsville, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tracy Harnisch of Burnet; two sisters and a brother-in-law Carol Cabat of Onalaska, Wis., and Vicky and Scott Haggerty of Chaseburg, Wis.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard Harnisch of Onalaska and Thomas and Sharon Harnisch of LaCrosse; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pauline Stotts Klein
Sept. 21, 1924 — July 26, 2000

CALDWELL — Graveside services for Pauline Stotts Klein, 75, of Caldwell are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.

The Rev. Steve Johnson will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Mrs. Klein died Wednesday at her home.

She was born in Burleson County and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caldwell. She was a former airline salesperson and was last employed by the Caldwell Wal-Mart Store.

Survivors include three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mildred Stotts of Los Angeles, Calif., Helen and Milton Urbanosky and Edna Meredith, all of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank Longer
July 21, 1909 — July 27, 2000

JEWETT — Services for Frank Longer, 91, of Jewett are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Houston.

The Rev. Franklin Simmons will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park- Lawndale.

A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Ricks Funeral Home in Jewett.
Mr. Longer died Thursday at his home.

He was born in Ellis County, Texas, and was a cabinet maker and carpenter. He was a Catholic and a was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Sue Longer.

Survivors include five sons, Leo Longer of Jewett, Leonard Longer and Lloyd Wayne Longer, both of Houston, Thomas Longer of New Braunfels, Texas, and John Paul Longer of Los Alamos, N.M.; and a daughter, Mary Katherine Cannon of Donie, Texas.

Joe Ben Murray
March 28, 1916 — July 28, 2000

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Joe Ben Murray, 84, of Gause are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hix Cemetery near Caldwell.

The Rev. Paul Kethley of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Murray died Friday in a Cameron nursing home.

He was born in Brownwood, Texas, and was retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years of service. He was a medic and dentist and received the rank of staff sergeant.

Survivors include three brothers, Archie Lee Murray of San Antonio, W.B. Murray and John T. Murray, both of Gause; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank Longer
July 21, 1909 — July 27, 2000

Ruby J. Cryer
Dec. 24, 1921 — July 28, 2000

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Ruby J. Cryer, 78, of Rockdale are set for 10 a.m. Sunday at the Val Verde Cemetery near Davilla, Texas.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Mrs. Cryer died Friday in Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

She was born in Davilla and had lived all of her life in Milam County, the last 45 years in Rockdale. She worked for the Texas Health Department as a meat inspector for six years and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton L. Cryer Jr.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Esther Cryer of Blackjack, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne and Colonel Beard of Gay Hill and Pat and Willie Johnston of Seguin, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, LaVerne and Floyd Cryer of Baytown, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Lance Kyle Gregory
Feb. 1, 1977 — July 28, 2000

FRANKLIN — Services for Lance Kyle Gregory, 23, of Franklin are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Calvert.

Jeff Riley will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.

Mr. Gregory died Friday in Robertson County.

He was born in Bryan and had lived in Franklin for a year and a half. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Calvert and the Pierce Masonic Lodge No. 144 in Calvert. He attended and played basketball at Richland Community College and also attended McClennan Community College and TSTI in Waco. He was self-employed.

Survivors include his parents, Kathy and Kyle Gregory of Franklin; two sisters, Sara Gregory of College Station and Crystal Gregory of Franklin; a grandmother, Jessie Smitherman of Franklin; three aunts; three uncles; and numerous cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity or organization of choice.

Romeo Earl Lampe Jr.
May 11, 1913 — July 28, 2000

BEAUMONT, Texas — Services for Romeo Earl Lampe Jr., 87, of Beaumont are set for 1 p.m. Monday at Broussard’s Mortuary Chapel in Beaumont.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

Mr. Lampe died Friday at his home.

He was born in Marlin, Texas, and had lived in Beaumont for 25 years. He was a retired executive with the Ford Motor Co.

Survivors include his wife, Wadene Dunshie Lampe of Beaumont; a daughter, Lynne Lampe Procaterra of Bryan; two sisters, Lorene Danna of Houston and Dorothy Zapalac of Austin; and a grandson.

Memorials may be made to the Blinn Scholarship Fund, 2520 East Villa Maria, Bryan, Texas 77801.

Jack Thomas Sloan

Jack Thomas Sloan passed away on July 29, 2000. The son of Kate McBride Sloan and Joseph A. Sloan, he was born June 29, 1912 in Huntington, West Virginia. After moving to Texas in his teens, he graduated from San Benito High School. He began his lifelong devotion to Texas A&M when he attended during the Great Depression and graduated with the “Great Class of 1934”. His loving wife of 55 years, Juanita Urban Sloan predeceased him in 1998. He is survived by his daughter, Daisy, son-in-law, John White of Houston and granddaughters, Dr. Nicole White of Nashville, Tennessee, and Jacqueline White of Houston. He is also survived by his brother, William Sloan of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and five nieces and nephews. His adult life was spent with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, where he traveled the state and the world. He was always involved with the communities and people he served. He served in World War II and later retired from the Army Reserves as a Lt. Colonel. One of his great loves was his role as class agent for the Class of ‘34 for decades. The activities, philanthropy and kinship of that class was a model for all. He was a member of Kiwanis, Sons of the American Revolution and the Civil War Roundtable.

The family will receive friends at Memorial Funeral Home, 1515 South College Avenue in Bryan on Monday, July 31st from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1st at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 East 26th Street in Bryan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Alton Linne, Donald (Buck) Henderson, Dr. Bob White, Bob Cherry, Bob Branson, Harvey Caddess, Fred Walker, Craig Williams, Harwood Smith, John Wilson and the TAMU class of 1934.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the Class of ‘34 Scholarship Fund, Texas A&M Development Foundation, 410 George Bush Drive, College Station, Texas 77840.

Ramona L. Ruch
April 14, 1932 — July 29, 2000

Services for Ramona L. Ruch, 68, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in College Station.

The Rev. Erich Schaefer of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in College Station City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mrs. Ruch died Saturday in Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

She was born in Dayton, Ohio, and worked for the Social Security Administration for 15 years. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the area synod of the ELCA, and visited the sick who could not attend services. She also served as the president and vice-president for the St. Joseph Auxiliary and volunteered in the HOSTS program and the American Red Cross.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Carlton E. Ruch of College Station; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Susan Ruch of The Woodlands, Texas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mari and Joe Ward of College Station, Alicia Ruch and Greg Flynn of Austin and Teri Ruch and John Schultz of Portland, Ore.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Alan and Jo Ann Wainscott of Avon Lake, Ohio, Jerry and Janet Wainscott of Sarasota, Fla., and Victor and Jo Wainscott of Clinton, Tenn.; two sisters-in-law, Doris Ruch of West Bend, Wis., and Sylvia Jones of College Station; a brother-in-law, Robert Witzke of Oshkosh, Wis.; her mother, Emma Wainscott; and 11 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 315 Tauber, College Station.
