Services for David Alan Holick, 33, of College Station are set for 4 p.m. Friday at Callaway-Jones Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Sam LoBello of Baton Rouge, La., will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

Mr. Holick died Wednesday in College Station.

He was born in Bryan and was a lifelong resident of the Bryan and College Station area.

He graduated from Bryan High School in 1987 and was co-owner of Dreamway Construction Company. He was a Catholic.

Survivors include his mother, Donna Holick of College Station; his father and stepmother, Gilbert Jr. and Dora Holick of Garland, Texas; grandmother, Mrs. Gilbert (Elaine) Holick Sr. of Bryan; a daughter, Ashley D’Lane Schultz of College Station; a brother, Chris Holick of College Station; a sister and brother-in-law, Kimberly and Robert Dietert of Zapata, Texas; Shelly Schultz of College Station; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Jane Maurine Berdine
Jan. 22, 1925 — Aug. 1, 2000

Services for Jane Maurine Berdine, 75, of Edge are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Revs. Doug Jones and Kenneth Rosier of the Edge Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in New Church Cemetery in the Edge community.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 to the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Berdine died Tuesday at her home.

She was born in Bryan and was a lifelong resident of Edge. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Edge Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Lance Berdine.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Suzanne and Vic Trutanich of Palos Verdes, Calif., and Maurene Brummett of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Mitt Closs and Dot and Helen Closs, all of Edge, and J.M. Closs Jr. of Spring, Texas; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Holland Boring Sr.
March 15, 1905 — Aug. 1, 2000

Services for Holland Boring Sr., 95, of Fort Worth are set for 1 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Burial will be in Steep Hollow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Boring died Tuesday in Arlington, Texas.

He was a songwriter, poet and a Church of Christ minister.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Boring.

Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Kathy Boring and Ann Jones; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lois Jean Britton
April 28, 1941 — Aug. 2, 2000

Services for Lois Jean Britton, 59, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel-College Station.

Mr. Luther Bolen Baker of the Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Brookside Cemetery in Houston.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Britton died Wednesday.

She was born in Dallas and had lived in College Station since 1996. She was a member of the Twin City Church of Christ and helped her son, Steven, run Tops Printing in Bryan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Britton.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Patrick and Angela Britton of Bryan and Randall Keith and Kathy Britton of Austin; and four grandchildren.

Emma V. Henderson
Sept. 9, 1925 — July 30, 2000

Services for Emma V. Henderson, 74, of Bryan, are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. S.L. Taplin of New Jerusalem Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A wake will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Henderson died Sunday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was a lifetime resident of Bryan and was a homemaker.

She was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Missionary Society, the choir and the Central District Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. S.L. Henderson.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Solomon L. Henderson Jr. of Bryan and the Rev. Jehu and Joslyn Henderson of Dallas; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Lillie Russell, Barbara and Walter Turner, Martha and Willie McKenzie, Betty and Leroy Hall, Vivian and Arthur Walker and Sharon Henderson, all of Bryan; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, the Rev. and Mrs. L. Baker and Jasper and Katie Henderson, all of Hearne; two sisters, Thelma Mosley of San Antonio and Elvesta Ballew of Bryan; a sister-in-law, Vivian Williams of Hearne; 24 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Jerusalem Baptist Church Building Fund.

Elizabeth Raleigh
May 18, 1951 — Aug. 2, 2000

Memorial services for Elizabeth Raleigh, 49, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Callaway-Jones Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan will officiate.
Mrs. Raleigh died Wednesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and lived in Bryan since 1984. She attended Sam Houston State University and was a licensed vocational nurse. She worked at Sherwood Health Care Facility for the past 16 years and was a member of StageCenter, having acted, directed and served on the board of directors.

Survivors include her husband, D. Robert “Bob” Raleigh of Bryan; a son, Alvaro Valdez III of Bosnia; a daughter, Heather Louisa Valdez of McKinney, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Faye Sullivan of New Braunfels, Texas, and Charles Lewis III and Rebecca Sullivan of Barstow, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Bailey McAnulty of Rockdale; and an aunt.

Alberta Rae Jez Barnes Wren
Aug. 6, 1944 — Aug. 2, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for Alberta Rae Jez Barnes Wren, 55, of Houston are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Madisonville.
Mark Young will officiate. Burial will be in Joyze Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Wren died Wednesday in Houston.

She was born in Houston and was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glover Wren; and a daughter, Diane Jez.
Survivors include her mother, Margaret Barnes of Madisonville; two sons, David Wren and Damon Wren, both of Houston; adopted daughter, Myra Gobeli and husband, Ron; and two grandsons.

Laura J. Hollinger
Oct. 19, 1909 — Aug. 3, 2000

Services for Laura J. Hollinger, 90, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Rev. G. Thomas Huser of Covenant Presbyterian Church in College Station will officiate. Burial will be in Restever Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. to the time of the services Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hollinger died Thursday in Sherwood Health Care Center in Bryan.

She was born in Saxton, Ky., and had lived in Bryan since 1952. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Sons of Hermann Lodge No. 99 in Bryan.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Nancy Hollinger of Waco; a daughter, Phyllis Pope of Bryan; a brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Bonnie Timmins of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Holland L. Boring Sr.
March 15, 1905 — Aug. 1, 2000

Holland L. Boring Sr., 95, entered into the Lord’s presence Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000. He was born March 15, 1905 in Franklin County, Texas.

The celebration of his life was held Friday at Memorial Funeral Home in Bryan with burial in Steep Hollow Cemetery.

Mr. Boring resided at Lakewood Village Christian Care Center in Fort Worth. He served the Lord throughout his life as a minister for the Church of Christ within the Fort Worth area and throughout the United States. Holland was a school teacher, principal and served as dean of Columbia Christian College in Portland, Ore. He was loved by his family, friends and thousands of students who attended the many gospel singing schools he taught and directed throughout the years. His servant heart was also displayed throughout the many songs and poems he composed. His life’s dedication was to glorify the Lord. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated from Abilene Christian College in Abilene. He joined Gladys, his loving wife of 70 years, and his three sons, Holland Jr., Kenneth and Donald, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughters-in-law, Kathy Boring of Arlington and Ann Jones of Abilene; grandchildren, Pamela Gage, Patti Spires, Penni Strother, DeAnne Draper, Todd Boring and Holland L. Boring III; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Everyone knew him as Paw-Paw.

Rufus Bookman
June 15, 1950 — Aug. 3, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Rufus Bookman, 50, of Houston are set for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mark Baptist Church in Shiro.

The Rev. E.P. Walker of the Greater First Baptist Church in Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the David Chapel Cemetery in Shiro.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.
Mr. Bookman died Thursday in Houston Northwest Hospital.

He was born in Walker County, Texas, and was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Houston.

Survivors include his wife, Earline Bookman of Houston; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rodney Bookman and Reginald and Catieca Bookman, all of Houston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Marshall Calhoun Jr. and Vicky and Ernest Wheatfall, all of Navasota; six brothers, Ervin Bookman, Lenroy Bookman, Stanley Bookman, Freddie Bookman, Wardell Bookman and Mikerel Bookman; a sister, Emmy Bookman; his mother, Edreen Bookman of Richards; and three grandchildren.

Mildred Juanita ‘Nanny’ Dowling
July 17, 1934 — Aug. 4, 2000

Services for Mildred Juanita “Nanny” Dowling, 66, of Marquez, Texas, are set for 11 a.m. Monday at Callaway-Jones Chapel in Bryan.

The Revs. Ray Grissett and Mike Haney of Clear Creek Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Clear Creek Cemetery in Leon County.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dowling died Friday in Madison-St. Joseph Hospital.

She was born in Limestone County and had lived in Marquez for eight years. She was a former longtime resident of College Station and owned and operated a day care center prior to her retirement. She was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Warren Ross “Bud” Dowling of Marquez; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Roger and Renee Broxton of North Zulch, Garry and Vina Broxton of Jewett, Randy Broxton of Marquez, Rickie and Susie Dowling of Spring, Texas, and Terry Dowling of Caldwell; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Doylea Beverly Broxton of Mexia, Vicki and Dwayne Kavanaugh of Spring and Sandi and Mike Winstead of Marquez; three brothers, John Ellis, Rufus Ellis and Kenneth Ellis; three sisters, Ann Erlanson, Polly McCaleb and Henrietta Vest; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
