Services for Laquanda Patrice James, 20, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Galilee Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. A.O. Mable of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Bryan.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel & Son Funeral Home in Bryan.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Miss James died Aug. 12 at her home.

She was born in Bryan and graduated from Bryan High School. She sang in her church choir and worked with the youth at her church. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include a son, Daveon Darnell Williams of Bryan, two brothers, Garrick Wheaton-James and Cameron Wheaton-James, both of Madisonville; one sister, LaTonia James of Austin; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson James of Madisonville; her mother, Evelyn Ruth James of Bryan; a grandmother, Ora Lee James of Madisonville; and a host of relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Pollie Mae Hailey
Nov. 22, 1929 — Aug. 9, 2000

FROST — Services for Pollie Mae Hailey, 70, of Frost are set for noon Saturday at the Greater New Home District Tabernacle in Centerville, Texas.

The Rev. Anthony Thibodeaux will officate. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery in the Hopewell Community of Leon County.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville.

Mrs. Hailey was born in Hopewell. She had worked at the Dress Factory in Frost for 20 years. She was a member of Taylor Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Hailey of Frost; three daughters, Janie Hailey, Linda Pace, Bessie Scott, all of Corsicana, Texas; three sons, Bobby Hailey, Tommy Hailey, Larry Hailey, all of Corsicana; three sisters, O.C. Casimere and Molly McBride, both of Houston, and Carolyn Holley of Dallas; three brothers, Tommy Sanders, Curtis Sanders, and Sam Sanders, all of Houston; 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and many cousins.

Lillian Ernestine Coleman
May 27, 1934 — Aug. 17, 2000

MIDWAY — Services for Lillian Ernestine Coleman, 66, of Midway are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.The Revs. Dennis Ivey and Terry Bryan will officiate. Burial will follow in Midway Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Coleman died Thursday at the Riverwood Nursing Home in Madisonville.

She was born in Midway. She attended the North Madison Church of Christ in Madisonville.

Survivors include her husband, Bert Coleman of Midway; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Betina Coleman, and Terry and Opal Coleman, all of Midway; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam and Lela Ivey of Ferris, Texas; Doyle and Connie Ivey of Midway and Dennis and Carolyn Ivey of Crockett, Texas; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Marie Selman of Karnack, Texas, Adna Hawthorne of Madisonville and Martha and Terry Bryan of Midway; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.

Vera Agnes Franke Rummel
Sept. 12, 1913 — Aug. 16, 2000

NASSAU COMMUNITY — Services for Vera Agnes Franke Rummel, 86, of the Nassau Community are set for 10 a.m. Friday in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby. Pastor Don Cole will officiate. Burial will be in Nassau Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Mrs. Rummel died Wednesday in Tomball Regional Hospital in Tomball, Texas.

She was born in Industry, Texas. She had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Elo Rummel of the Nassau Community; one son and daughter-in-law, Kirby and Vannette Rummel of Spring, Texas; one daughter, Marilyn Clepper of Houston; one grandson, Julian Clepper III and his fiancee, Lacie Dooley; and one granddaughter and her husband, Angie and Todd Simmons.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby.

Rosalie Wymola
Aug. 8, 1905 — Aug. 16, 2000

Services for Rosalie Wymola, 95, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Bryan.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wymola died Wednesday at Bryton Inn Health Center in Bryan.

She was born in Moravia, Czech Republic. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lodger Wymola.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Eugene and Gloria Wymola of San Augustine, Fla., Alfred and Elizabeth Wymola of Bryan, and Frankie Wymola of Pensacola, Fla; one sister-in-law, Christine Wymola of Edge, one sister, Agnes Dillard of Bryan, 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1905.

Eliska “Ella” Zalmanek Orsag
Sept. 14, 1908 — Aug. 16, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Eliska “Ella” Zalmanek Orsag, 91, of Caldwell are set for 4 p.m. Sunday at New Tabor Brethren Church in Caldwell.

The Rev. M.E. “Skip” Stutts will officiate. Burial will be in New Tabor Brethren Cemetery.

Visitation is set for 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Strickland Funeral Home.

Mrs. Orsag died Wednesday in Bryan.

She was born in the Providence Community in Burleson County. She was a retired farmer and rancher. Mrs. Orsag had been a member of the New Tabor Brethren Christian Sisters, a Sunday school teacher, a choir member, and member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 9. She was a member of the New Tabor Brethren Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Orsag Jr.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John W. and Betty Orsag of Friendswood, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Jesse C. Floeck and Emily and Bennie Hejl, all of Caldwell; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Vlasta Zalmanek of Houston, Texas, and James and Betty Zalmanek of Colorado; one sister, Emilie Sefcik of Bryan; two sisters-in-law, Annie Louise Zalmanek of Temple and Elsie Orsag of Caldwell; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nettie May Alwell
Dec. 30, 1928 — Aug. 16, 2000

NAVASOTA — Graveside services for Nettie May Alwell, 71, of Navasota are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Peach Creek Cemetery, near Millican. The Rev. Henry Franklin, will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.
Mrs. Alwell died Wednesday in Navasota.

She was born in Conroe, Texas, and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivy “Shorty” Alwell.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Samuel Alwell and Jerry Sisco, both of Navasota, and Dickie and Becky Sisco of Arkansas; three stepsons and daughters-in-law, Wallace and Joyce Alwell of Bryan, Albert and Debra Alwell of Navasota and Charles and Pam Alwell of DeRidder, La.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Diane Sisco Crenshaw of Tomball, Texas, Carrie and Pete Vega of Navasota, Janet and Don Leatherwood of Magnolia, Linda Sisco of Bryan; three stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Rachel and Ross Walker of DeRidder, La., Dorothy and Robert Ripkoski of Navasota and Mary Lynn and Ron Lee of Ohio; 37 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Jack B. McGinty
Dec. 24, 1923 — Aug. 17, 2000

YARBORO COMMUNITY — Services for Jack B. McGinty, 76, of Yarboro Community, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.
Dr. J.W.L. Adams, retired Baptist minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Navasota.

Vistation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday with family present from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. McGinty died Thursday.

He was a lifetime resident of Yarboro Community. He was a retired rancher and deputy for the Grimes County Sheriff’s Department. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Navasota.

Survivors include his wife, Beth McKinney McGinty of Navasota; one son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Baker and Marijane McGinty of Dayton, Texas; one daughter, Mickey Lynn McGinty of Seguin, Texas; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one niece and nephew.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 705 S. Austin, Brenham, Texas, 77833 or First Baptist Church, Navasota.

Lawrence H. 'Bud' Collie
Oct. 30, 1912 — Aug. 18, 2000

Services for Lawrence H. “Bud” Collie, 87, of Bryan are set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Rev. Bill MaGee of Northview Baptist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in Restever Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 8:30 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Collie died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Prospect, Texas, and had lived in Bryan since 1985. He formerly lived in Hearne and was a retired truck driver for Mobile Oil Transport in Hearne. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of Northview Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Senior Adult Men’s Class.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Lee Turner Collie of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Glenda Collie of Round Rock, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Daune and Steve Scarmardo of Bryan; a sister, Bernice Ewell of Marlin, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mavis Earnestine Scherbel
March 21, 1918 — Aug. 18, 2000

Services for Mavis Earnestine Scherbel, 82, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. David Murphy of Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Scherbel died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Cuthand, Texas, and had lived in Bryan since 1956. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the American Audubon Society, the Texas Audubon Society and the National Smithsonian Institute.

Survivors include her husband, Charles E. Scherbel Sr. of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles E. Jr. and Mildred Scherbel of Willis, Texas; two daughters, Jenell Scherbel of Austin and Charlotte Ann Scherbel of Bryan; a sister, Delene Foran of Lane, Okla.; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.

Opal 'Lorene' Willis Allen
May 11, 1921 — Aug. 17, 2000

MARSHALL, Texas — Services for Opal “Lorene” Willis Allen, 79, of Marshall are set for noon Saturday at the Eastern Hill Church of Christ in Marshall.

Jim Dobbs and Bill Lockwood will officiate. Burial will be in Algoma Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Sullivan Family Funeral Home in Marshall.
Mrs. Allen died Thursday in Marshall Manor Nursing Home.

She was born in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Eastern Hills Church of Christ and the Sojourners.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Allen.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Alvin “Bob” and Ann Allen of Manvel, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and John Patterson of College Station; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Mary Willis of DeKalb, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Bill Allen of Garland, Texas; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Melba and Ray Wenzel of San Antonio; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
