Lorenz Edward Fuchs
Nov. 19, 1926 — Aug. 18, 2000

BRENHAM — Services for Lorenz Edward Fuchs, 73, of the La Bahia community are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton.

The Rev. Glenn Schoeneberg will officiate. Burial will be in the La Bahia Cemetery near Burton.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham and from noon to the time of the services Sunday at the church.

Mr. Fuchs died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

He was born in Brenham and was a lifelong resident of the La Bahia community. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, where he served on the council and was a charter member of the men’s choir. He was a former member and past president of the Burton school board, was a member of the Burton Lions Club, the Burton Volunteer Fire Department, Burton Booster Club, La Bahia Turn Verein and was an honorary member of the Boling FFA Chapter. He was also a past member of the board of directors of the Washington County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife, Gerdine Fuchs of Burton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde Douglas and Robbie Fuchs of Burton and Dean Andrew and Paula Fuchs of Boling; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Ann and Randy Howard of Burton; a brother and sister-in-law, Calvin and Nell Fuchs of Fredericksburg, Texas; a sister, Stella Kessler of Burton; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Robert Zimmerman of Eddy, Texas, Melvin Kankel and Elroy and Ima Kankel, all of Brenham, and Mabel Kankel of Pasadena, Texas; and seven grandchildren.

Joseph Lee Henley
Nov. 5, 1918 — Aug. 18, 2000

FRANKLIN — Services for Joseph Lee Henley, 81, of Franklin are set for 11 a.m. Monday at McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin.

Burial will be in Bald Prairie Cemetery near Franklin.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Henley died Friday in Franklin.

He was born in Texarkana, Texas, and had lived in Franklin since 1989. He was a retired mechanic and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Franklin. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart medal.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Henley of Franklin; and a sister, Dorothy Yarbough of Texarkana, Texas.

Paul Douglas Hoover
June 4, 1942 — Aug. 16, 2000

GIDDINGS, Texas — Services for Paul Douglas Hoover, 58, of Dime Box are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dime Box.

The Rev. Lee Eschberger will officiate. Burial will be in the Dime Box Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.

Mr. Hoover died Wednesday in M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.

He was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., and was a constable for Precinct 4 in Dime Box. He served in the U.S. Marines.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hoover of Dime Box; two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen Douglas and Kathleen Hoover of Dime Box and Bradley Jerome and Nila Hoover of College Station; a daughter, Sarah Michelle Howard of Dime Box; his mother, Jackie Hoover of Friendswood, Texas; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Melinda Hoover of Friendswood.

Wiley Junior Jinkins Jr.
Dec. 31, 1916 — Aug. 17, 2000

GALVESTON — Services for Wiley Junior Jinkins Jr., 83, of Galveston are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Galveston.

The Rev. Ronald Pogue will officiate. Burial will be in Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.

Arrangements are under the direction of J. Levy & Bro. Funeral Home in Galveston.
Dr. Jinkins died Thursday.

He was born in Galveston and completed his medical training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II achieving the rank of Lt. Commander. He practiced medicine in Galveston until his retirement in 1992.

He was a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch Orthopedic Surgery Department and served as chief of the medical staffs of UTMB and St. Mary’s Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Priscilla Jinkins; three sons, Dr. Wiley Jinkins of Colorado Springs, Colo., Dr. Randy Jinkins of Omaha, Neb., and Jeff Jinkins of Bryan; a daughter, Mary Jinkins of Galveston; four grandchildren; and two cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Rifle Association or the American Heart Association.

Alfred Lampe Sr.
Dec. 7, 1912 — Aug. 18, 2000

BRENHAM — Services for Alfred Lampe Sr., 87, of Brenham are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in William Penn.

The Rev. Matthew Jacobs will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mr. Lampe died Friday in Trinity Care Center in Brenham.

He was born in the William Penn community of Washington County and was retired as a mechanic. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Schulz Lampe.

Survivors include five sons and four daughters-in-law, Alfred Jr. and Esther Lampe, Glenn and Linda Lampe, Donald and Hattie Lampe, Jimmie Lampe and Ray and Tammy Lampe, all of Brenham; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Billy Nichols of Navasota; a brother, August Lampe of Brenham; three sisters, Mary Pahmiyer, Rosie Schoenemann and Emma Belle Neumann, all of Brenham; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn.

Pearl Francis Loud
March 8, 1910 — Aug. 17, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Pearl Francis Loud, 90, of Anderson are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Greater First Baptist Church in Anderson.

The Rev. E.P. Walker of the Greater First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Berryman Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mrs. Loud died Thursday in Southwood Nursing Home in College Station.

She was born in Grimes County and was a lifelong resident of Anderson. She was a member of the Greater First Baptist Church in Anderson and was retired as a domestic.
Survivors include three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a great-great-grandchild.

Anita Wentrcek Mathis
May 12, 1931 — Aug. 17, 2000

Services for Anita Wentrcek Mathis, 69, of Fort Worth are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. John Gantt of Hope Evangelical Free Church in College Station will officiate. Burial will be in Restever Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to the time of the services Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mathis died Thursday in Fort Worth.

She was born in Wheelock and was a homemaker. She assisted her husband at his veterinary clinic in Fort Worth and was a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 189 in Bryan.

Survivors include her husband, James M. Mathis of Fort Worth; a son, Mark Mathis of Fort Worth; a daughter, Lou Ann Moore of Fort Worth; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Billie Wentrcek of Bryan; a sister, Gladys Grimes of Normangee; and three grandchildren.

Thelma Natalie McLauchlan
Oct. 20, 1912 — Aug. 16, 2000

BREMOND — Services for Thelma Natalie McLauchlan, 87, of Bremond are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bremond Funeral Home.

Frank Downs will officiate. Burial will be in the Petteway Cemetery.

Mrs. McLauchlan died Wednesday.

She was born in Robertson County and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bremond Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Sam Musia of Waco, Texas; two sisters, Kathrine Cummings of Houston and Doris Aryes of Gunter, Texas; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerald 'Jerry' W. Stock
Oct. 18, 1926 — Aug. 17, 2000

HEARNE — Services for Gerald “Jerry” W. Stock, 73, of Calvert are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

The Rev. Jeff Riley of the First Baptist Church in Calvert will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvert City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Stock died Thursday in Katy, Texas.

He was born in Burnet County and had lived in Calvert for many years. He was retired from the City of Houston and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Electricians and the National Rifle Association. He was a Lutheran.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Jackie Stock of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Mike Dor’e of Katy; a sister, Juanita Arnold of Austin; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Bertha B. McGruder Wilbert
Feb. 27, 1949 — Aug. 12, 2000

Services for Bertha B. McGruder Wilbert, 51, of Bryan are set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Clifton Stewart of Mt. Olive Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Daniel & Son Funeral Home in Bryan and from 1:30 p.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Wilbert died Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Stamford in Jones County and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. She was a domestic worker and was a Baptist.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, George Wilbert and Cleveland Wilbert, both of Bryan, and Edward and Takiyah McGruder of Austin; a daughter, Tracy McGruder of Bryan; Violet Holmes of Bryan; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Cuyler Thompson Jr.
Oct. 12, 1911 — Aug. 17, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for Cuyler Thompson Jr., 88, of Bedias are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bedias Baptist Church in Bedias.

The Rev. Jerald Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Bedias Baptist Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville.
Mr. Thompson died Thursday at his home.

He was born in Bedias.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Thompson of Bedias; three children, Bobbi Thompson Hoover of Bedias, Cuyler G. Thompson of Huntsville, Texas, and Lee David Thompson of Walla Walla, Wash.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

James Bowser
May 18, 1912 — Aug. 14, 2000

Services for James Bowser, 88, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Monday at the Cavitt Street Church of Christ in Bryan.

Bro. Eugene Dewveall of the Cavitt Street Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Oldham Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9 a.m. Monday at Daniel & Son Funeral Home in Bryan and from 10 a.m. to the time of the services Monday at the church.

Mr. Bowser died Monday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Caldwell and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. He was retired from Bryan Independent School District and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William and Alline Bowser of Bryan; two sisters, Erma Butts and Juanita Mosley, both of Bryan; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
