MADISONVILLE — Graveside services for Christopher Conn Reynolds, 30, of Madisonville are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Madisonville City Cemetery.

The Rev. Dick White of First United Methodist Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Madisonville Funeral Home.

Mr. Reynolds died Sunday at his home.

He was born in Conroe, Texas, and formerly lived in Big Spring, Texas, Fort Davis, Texas, and Farwell, Texas. He attended Navarro College in Corsicana on a music scholarship and also attended Clarendon College in Clarendon and the Texas State Technical College in Waco, Texas. At the time of his death, he was employed by Sanderson Farms in Bryan.
Survivors include his parents, David and Nancy Reynolds of Madisonville.

Marjorie Fisher Jackson
Sept. 12, 1929 — Aug. 21, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Marjorie Fisher Jackson, 70, of Caldwell are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at South Oak Church of Christ in Dime Box, Texas. The Rev. Asberry Mitchell Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Sandy Grove Cemetery in Deanville.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mrs. Jackson died Monday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Lee County, Texas, and graduated from Freeman High School in Caldwell. She was a volunteer at St. Joseph Regional Health Center and for the 4-H and FHA organizations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Jackson Jr.

Survivors include six sons, Will Jackson of Dallas, Alfred Jackson of Houston, Horace Jackson of Caldwell, Andrew Jackson of Dallas, Michael and Donny Jackson, both of Caldwell; three daughters, Diane B. Tyler of Houston, Josephine Hill of Dallas, Shirley Bradshaw of Austin; three brothers, James Roy Fisher of Lubbock, Wanzo Fisher of Bryan, Albert Lee Fisher of Dallas; four sisters, Elsie Washington of Lyons, Willie Mae Hardemann of Dallas, Anna Whetstone of Austin, Jerlene Upshaw of Lubbock, Annie Mae Clark of Caldwell; 26 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Ethel M. Asberry Tates
Aug. 12, 1928 — Aug. 20, 2000

HOUSTON — Services for Ethel M. Asberry Tates, 72, of Houston are set for 11 a.m. Friday at El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Houston.

The Rev. Rugley Monroe Jr. will officiate. Burial will be at Houston Memorial Garden.

A wake will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home in Houston.

Mrs. Tates died Sunday at Herman Hospital in Houston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Tates.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna M. Adams of Houston; one son-in-law, Will Edwards, her mother, Mary Asberry of Bryan; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Iris and Eddie Bishop of Houston, Lillian and Robert Marshall of Los Angeles, Helen and Travis Williams of College Station, and Myrtle Asberry of Bryan; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Willie James and Sharon Asberry of Gardena, Calif., Otis K. and Linda Asberry of Bryan, Frank Asberry of Los Angeles and several nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Ethel Shemunatz
July 13, 1907 — Aug. 20, 2000

Ethel Shemunatz, 93, of Bryan died Sunday at the Millican House in Bryan.

She was born in Houston.

Mrs. Shemunatz had been a medical secretary and was a Christian.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Shemunatz.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Metcalfe of College Station; and one grandchild.

Margaret Teresa Cullen
May 18, 1931 — Aug. 22, 2000

Services for Margaret Teresa Cullen, 69, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan. The Rev. John McCaffrey will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and a rosary is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at The Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Mrs. Cullen died Tuesday at her home.

She was born in Burleson County and was a secretary for Bryan Independent School District for 45 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bill R. Cullen Sr. of Bryan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Tracy Cullen of Bryan, Bill R. Cullen Jr. and Sharon of Bryan; two daughters, Nancy and Carol Cullen, both of Bryan; one sister, Hilda Conlee of Bryan, and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1905, the St. Joseph Church Building Fund or the B.I.S.D. Scholarship Fund.

Lavada Towery
June 26, 1912 — Aug. 22, 2000

THORNDALE — Services for Lavada Towery, 88, of Thorndale are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will be in the Salty Cemetery, Salty, Texas.

The Rev. Calvin Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel will officiate.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Towery died Tuesday in the Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.

She was a lifelong resident of Milam County. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Thorndale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Towery.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tregg and Anna Towery of Waco; one daughter and son-in-law, Twyla and Daryle Wilson of Alvin, Texas; one sister, Eugenia Vinton of Milano, Texas; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Cecilia M. Spivey
Oct. 24, 1916 — Aug. 23, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Cecilia M. Spivey, 83, of Navasota are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota. The Rev. Henry Sanders of Faith Outreach Christian Center in Navasota will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Mrs. Spivey died Wednesday at Grimes St. Joseph Health Center.

She was a lifetime resident of Navasota. She was a charter member of Faith Outreach Christian Center.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, William C. King and Grady B. Spivey.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Larry E. Brooks of Brenham; one brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Inola Brown of Sulpher, La.; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives.

Memorials may be made to Faith Outreach Christian Center in Navasota.

Albert D. ‘Bear’ Lyons Jr.
June 7, 1926 — Aug. 22, 2000

RUNGE, Texas — Services for Albert D. “Bear” Lyons Jr., 74, of Runge are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Eckols Chapel in Kenedy, Texas. Burial will be in Kenedy Cemetery. The Rev. John Quigley of First United Methodist Church in Kenedy will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lyons was born in Runge. He was a petroleum engineer. He served in World War II in the South Pacific. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1950 and worked for oil companies around the world.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Lyons of Runge; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Robert Harvey of College Station; a son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Cindy Lyons of Arlington, Texas; a brother, Charles Lyons of College Station; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Martha M. Winkler
May 30, 1926 — Aug. 23, 2000

PLANTERSVILLE, Texas — Services for Martha M. Winkler, 74, of Plantersville are set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville. The Rev. Edward C. Kucera of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mrs. Winkler died Wednesday at Grimes St. Joseph Health Center.

She was a lifelong resident of Stoneham, Texas. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Frank Winkler Sr.

Survivors include one son and two daughters-in-law, Louis C. and Carol Winkler of Magnolia, Texas, and Matilda Winkler of Houston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and James Podraza of Montgomery, Texas, and Linda and Dennis Leiber of Anderson; one brother, Arch Demny of Houston; two sisters, Nora Kowalski and Eunice Gurka, both of Houston; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

Lizzie Streich Ganske
Jan. 5, 1909 — Aug. 24, 2000

BRENHAM — Services for Lizzie Streich Ganske, 91, of Brenham are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mrs. Ganske died Thursday in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham.

She was born in Washington County. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She attended Rocky Hill School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Henry Ganske.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Milroy and Betty Ganske of Baytown, Texas, and James and Shirley Ganske of Brenham; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Marvin Marburger of Brenham; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Margaret Streich and Maggie Streich, both of Baytown, one brother-in-law, Emil Ganske of Bryan, and numerous nieces and nephews .
Orbie Garth Harris
June 17, 1918 — Aug. 23, 2000

FRANKLIN — Services for Orbie Garth Harris, 82, of Franklin are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin. Jimmy Sanders, nephew of Mr. Harris, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Franklin.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Harris died Wednesday in Buffalo, Texas.

He was born in Comanche, Texas. He was a self-employed builder and contractor for 66 years. He had been a Franklin resident since 1980, previously living in Missouri City, Texas. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Midland and Hearne.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Harris.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherlyn and Bill Cartwright of Katy, Texas, and Beverly and Bill Cummings of Buffalo; one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Jane Harris of North Richland Hills, Texas; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jack and Jackie Harris of Mineral, Va., Richard and Anita Harris of Euless, Texas, and Vernon Harris of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ora Lee Harris
June 30, 1908 — Aug. 17, 2000

HOUSTON — Services for Ora Lee Harris, 92, of Houston are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Coaxberry Baptist Church in Navasota. The Rev. Charles H. Taylor Sr. of Grace Cathedral Church in Houston will officiate. Burial will be in Coaxberry Cemetery in Navasota.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mrs. Harris died in Houston Northwest Hospital.

She was born in Grimes County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Harris.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Ann Harris of Houston; two brothers, I.V. Payne Sr. and L.T. Wiggins, both of Houston; two sisters, Eulalia Aldridge of Houston and Minnie Wilson of California; and two grandchildren.
