Audrey Mae Burney Barnett Scambray
May 25, 1926 — Oct. 5, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Audrey Mae Burney Barnett Scambray, 74, of Bryan are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

The Rev. Gary Faulkner will officiate. Burial will be in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Scambray died Thursday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Galveston and taught at Ben Milam Elementary School in Bryan for 20 years. Since her retirement, she owned and operated the “Memories” antique shop in Somerville.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hugh C. Barnett.

Survivors include her husband, Vincent Scambray of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Hugh and Jacque Barnett of Bryan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary and Tommy Hanson and Barbara Riley, all of Bryan; a sister, Loice Bell Easter of Marble Falls, Texas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Scottie’s House or St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.

Jerry Weinbrandt
June 22, 1937 — Oct. 4, 2000

Memorial services for Jerry Weinbrandt, 63, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Callaway-Jones Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Bob Owens will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Denison, Iowa.

Mr. Weinbrandt died Wednesday at his home.

He was born in Carrol, Iowa, and had lived in Bryan since 1983. He was in the construction business and had served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Weinbrandt.

Survivors include a son, Kelvin Weinbrandt of Navasota; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Eric Cruse of Millican; a brother, Roger Weinbrandt of Denison, Iowa; two sisters, Norma Meister of Wall Lake, Iowa, and Joan Moeller of Denison; and two grandchildren.

Scott Barret Wigginton
May 25, 1970 — Oct. 4, 2000

WEBSTER, Texas — Memorial services for Scott Barret Wigginton, 30, of Brownsville, Texas, are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster.
Mr. Wigginton died Wednesday in Houston.

He was born in Pasadena, Texas, and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M University in Meteorology. He was employed by the National Weather Service in Brownsville.

Survivors include his parents, Bonita K. Craig and Gary W. and Sally Wigginton; a sister, Nicole; and a brother, Brian.

Lizzie Mae Wiley
Aug. 11, 1911 — Oct. 5, 2000

Services for Lizzie Mae Wiley, 89, of Somerville are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Zion Church of Christ in Lyons.

Bro. Joe Franklin of the Zion Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in the Midway Cemetery in Midway.

Arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.
Mrs. Wiley died Thursday in Caldwell.

She was born in Midway and was retired. She was a member of the Zion Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wiley, Sr.
Survivors include three sons, Henry Wiley Jr. of Houston, Willie G. Wiley of Tacoma, Wash., and Billy G. Wiley of Somerville; six daughters, Ethel Thomas and Almacesa Nix, both of Houston, Nannie Kemp, Willie L. Skinner and Carolyn Henry, all of Fort Worth, and Ruby Bosley of College Station; two brothers, Jim Walker of Houston and P.D. Walker of Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Mary McGilbra and Ruby M. Spurlock, both of Midway; 30 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Vernell Jeanette Jackson
February 11, 1933 — October 7, 2000

Mrs. Vernell Weyand Noak Jackson, 67, of Bryan was born February 11, 1933 in Round Top, Texas, and passed away on October 7th at St. Joseph Manor in Bryan after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jackson will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 9th at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Bryan with the Rev. Erich Shaefer officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday from 9 a.m. to the time of the services at the church, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Burial will be in Florida Chapel Cemetery in Round Top, Texas, at 2:30 p.m. Pallbearers will include Heath Clay, Jason Clay, Corey Finke, Kelly Gough, Joe Burke and Kerry Weyand and one Honorary pallbearer, Chad Noak.

Mrs. Jackson was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family. She was the daughter of Alfred and Hulda Birkelbach Weyand; wife of her first husband, Merton Henry Noak; mother to infant daughter, Susan Kaye Noak; and sister to brothers Kearney, Alfred Jr. and Wesley Weyand, whom all preceded her in death.

Vernell was baptized at home on May 27, 1933 and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top on March 30, 1947 by Pastor W. Kralik. On September 23, 1951 she married her first husband, Merton Henry Noak, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top, Texas, by Rev. A.B. Weis, who later passed away on December 28, 1973. She then married Reaford Dean Jackson at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in College Station by Rev. Robert Otterstad.

Mrs. Jackson had attended Round Top-Carmine schools and graduated in 1950. She worked as a bookkeeper for Stacy’s Furniture Galleries for 25 years. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, where she was active on the Altar Guild, Prayer Chain, Women of the Church and the Stewardship Committee.

She is survived by her husband, Reaford Dean Jackson of Bryan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Melissa Noak of Bryan and Russell and Merrie Noak of Edge; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and William Schawe of Brenham, Donna and Sam Young of Tabor and Pam and Bobby Clay of Bryan; one step-daughter, Connie Hall of Bryan; a sister and brother-in-law, Elvira and Adolph Schmidt of Seguin, Texas; sister-in-law, Eunell Weyand of Round Top, Texas; ten grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church at 315 Tauber in College Station or Hospice of Brazos Valley, 205 East 29th Street in Bryan, Texas 77803.

Gardie Otto (G.O.) Emshoff

G.O. Emshoff, our precious little daddy, went to walk with God on Saturday, October 7, 2000. Services will be held at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Monday, October 9 with burial following at Oak Knoll Cemetery at 3 p.m. in Bellville, Texas. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

He was born on a farm in Kenney, Texas, on January 12, 1926. He served in World War II, under General George Patton, where he earned a Victory Ribbon, Purple Heart, three Bronze Service Stars, EAME Theatre Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. When he left the service, he met and married his beautiful soulmate, Lucy Hill. They gave life to four daughters: Myra, Carol, Debbie and Linda, who are so blessed to have had him in our lives for so long. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends, laughing and playing dominoes, fishing and watching the Weather Channel. His quick wit, sweet face, humor and his wonderful voice will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Emshoff; sisters, Martha Dippel and Nora Emshoff; and brother, Roland “Buddy” Emshoff, who we are sure he will be happy to see again.

His memory will live on in his loving wife, daughters, and their husbands, Waymon Peterson, Michael Hatch and Ron Richards, who held such a special place in his heart, and were the sons he never had. He had and loved six grandchildren; Trina Askew and Aaron Thompson, Adrian “A.D.” Turner, Waymon “T” Peterson, Chrysta “Chrys” Richards, Jordan Hatch and Erik “Horsefly” Richards. His nephew and wife, Marvin and Doris Emshoff, were such a wonderful help and comfort to him and our family.
He was a member of Texas Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Eric Doucet. We would like to express our deepest heartfelt love and appreciation to the church family and friends, for all of their love, support and faith during his life. A special thank you to Ora Flowers, for her love and special care during his illness. Sleep tight, Sweet Poppy, until we see you again.

Gerry Conrad
May 10, 1959 — Oct. 6, 2000

Graveside services for Gerry Conrad, 41, of Snook are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the College Station Cemetery.

The Rev. Mike Sis of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in College Station will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mr. Conrad died Friday at his home.

He was born in Moscow, Idaho, and had lived in Snook since 1976. He attended Bryan High School and was employed as a landscape designer for Arrow Lawn Service.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Conrad of Snook; two step-daughters, Kristine Long of Caldwell and Stacie Bryan of College Station; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen and Kelly Conrad of Bryan, Wayne and Debbie Conrad of Austin and Kenneth and Martha Conrad of Snook; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Memorials may be made to the Dr. Billy E. Conrad Endowed Scholarship Fund with Texas A&M University.

Homer J. Feigley
July 22, 1910 — Oct. 5, 2000

Memorial services for Homer J. Feigley, 90, of Bryan are set for 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Parkway Baptist Church in College Station.

Burial will be in Boyton Beach Mausoleum in Boyton Beach, Fla.

Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Feigley died Thursday in Sherwood Health Care Center.

He was born in New Lexington, Ohio, and had lived in Bryan since 1990. He attended Parkway Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Feigley; and a son, Roger Feigley.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Richard Drees of Bryan; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

David Lee Whittington Sr.
Oct. 22, 1961 — Oct. 6, 2000

SANTA FE, Texas — Services for the Rev. David Lee Whittington Sr., 38, of Bryan are set for 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Alta Loma, Texas.

The Rev. Tim Owens will officiate. Burial will be in Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hayes Funeral Home in Santa Fe.
Rev. Whittington died Friday in Houston.

He was born in Houston and had lived in Bryan since 1998. He formerly lived in Corsicana, Texas, and was the former pastor of Cluster Baptist Church, Glendale Baptist Church and Memorial Baptist Church and was currently a counselor with National Prearranged Services.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Jean Whittington of Bryan; two sons, David Lee Whittington Jr. and Aaron James Whittington, both of Bryan; his parents, Arthur and Helen Whittington of College Station; two sisters, Lou Ann Roquet of College Station and Karen Tinker of Houston; and a brother, Larry Whittington Sr. of Santa Fe.

Gerry Conrad
May 10, 1959 — Oct. 6, 2000

Graveside services for Gerry Conrad, 41, of Snook are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the College Station Cemetery.

Catherine Grace Alford
May 9, 1915 — Oct. 7, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Catherine Grace Alford, 85, of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Caldwell.

The Revs. Steve Stigler of the First United Methodist Church and Cecil Lang of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mrs. Alford died Saturday at her home.

She was born in Franklin and was a longtime resident of Caldwell. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Caldwell, the Burleson County Historical Society, the Caldwell Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. She played the organ for the First United Methodist Church and the First Presbyterian Church for many years and was a partner with her husband in the operation of Alford & Company Insurance and the Surrey Inn & Restaurant. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

Survivors include her husband, D.L. Alford Jr. of Caldwell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel Lee III and Mary Collerain Alford and James J. and Kathryn Burgess Alford, all of Caldwell; two sisters, Nancy Agnew of Vernon, Texas, and Anne Wear of Grand Prairie, Texas; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Caldwell, the First Presbyterian Church of Caldwell, Hospice Brazos Valley or the Rotary Foundation.

Services for Vernell Weyand Noak Jackson, 67, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in College Station.

The Rev. Erich Schaefer of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Florida Chapel Cemetery in Round Top.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Monday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
