Aug. 6, 1955 — Oct. 11, 2000

A memorial service for Mark Frederick Ehlert, 45, of Brenham will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Abundant Life Church in Houston.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Ehlert died Wednesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

He was born in Indianapolis, Ind.

Mr. Ehlert was formerly of Houston. He was a chef and a member of Abundant Life Church in Spring, Texas.

Survivors include brothers Rick and John Ehlert both of Houston; sisters, Kathy Fowler of Kalamazoo, Mich., Karen Blair of Houston, and Greta Waggoner of Upper Montclair, N.J.; and a mother, Marilyn Gulledge of Elkhorn, Wis.

Herbert ‘Trey’ Louis Steinbach III
April 16, 1966 — Oct. 11, 2000

Graveside services for Herbert “Trey” Louis Steinbach III, 34, of Denton, Texas, are set for 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter’s Lutheran in Gay Hill, Texas.

The Rev. Virgil Pecht will officiate. A memorial service will also take place at Denton State School at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mr. Steinbach died Wednesday in Denton.

He was born in Dallas.

He is survived by his parents, Drs. Herbert and Sandra Steinbach of Dallas; his sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl Steinbach Patton and Dr. Michael Patton of Montevallo, Ala.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Hancel Steinbach and Charlene Wilder Steinbach and Stephen Ross Steinbach and Jennifer Alves Steinbach, all of Dallas; a grandmother, Leona Castevens of Forth Worth; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Ethel Mae Bishop
Sept. 22, 1909 — Oct. 9, 2000

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Ethel Mae Bishop, 91, of Talihina, Okla., are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Mrs. Bishop died Monday in Talihina.

She was born in Texas and lived in Talihina for eight years. She was a retired telephone operator. She was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston F. Bishop.

Survivors include a son, Morris Bishop of Pine Top, Ariz.; a daughter, Mildred Bird of Smithville, Okla.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Arthur Lenard Townsend
Sept. 17, 1919 — Oct. 13, 2000

HEARNE — Services for Arthur Lenard Townsend, 81, of Hearne are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne.

Dana Altimore will officiate.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Townsend died Friday at his home.

He was born in Lampasas, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Mae Townsend of Hearne; a son, Stacy Townsend of Hearne; two daughters, Deborah Isbell of Garland, Texas, and Melinda Wegwert of Calvert; two sisters, Katherine Pullen and Lois Boyd, both of Hearne; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the 5-Points Baptist Church.

Lottie Briggs Pharis
Aug. 2, 1919 — Oct. 12, 2000

MARLIN, Texas — Services for Lottie Briggs Pharis, 81, of Marlin are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Marlin.

The Rev. Tom Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday evening at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin.

Mrs. Pharis died Thursday in Lake Jackson, Texas.

She was a lifelong resident of Marlin and was a member of the McClanahan Baptist Church in Marlin. She was a vice president of the Marlin National Bank for 37 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Pharis.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Kay and Victor Randazzo of Lake Jackson and Sue and Ed Seale of Bryan; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 9709, Fort Worth, Texas 76147 or the McClanahan Cemetery Association, Marlin, Texas 76661.

Sally Hamblett
March 2, 1908 — Oct. 13, 2000

Memorial services for Sally Hamblett, 92, of College Station will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Hamblett died Friday in Colton Inn in College Station.

She was born in Lubbock, Texas, and had lived in College Station for four years. She was retired as a teacher with the Lubbock ISD and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lubbock. She received a bachelor’s degree from East Texas State at Commerce and a master’s degree from Texas Tech University.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis L. Hamblett.

Survivors include a son, Gus Hamblett of College Station; three sisters, Ida Lou Richardson of Texarkana, Texas, Gussie Lindsey of Maud, Texas, and Johnnie Tidorsky of Shreveport, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Meals on Wheels program.

Samuel Mosley
July 28, 1903 — Oct. 11, 2000

Services for Samuel Mosley, 97, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Galilee Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. John Foster of Galilee Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Peoples Mortuary in Bryan.
Mr. Mosley died Wednesday at his home.

He was born in Mumford and had lived in Bryan for 70 years. He was a retired merchant and rancher. He was a member of Galilee Baptist Church, where he served as church treasurer and trustee. He was also a member of the N.A.A.C.P.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby L. Nutall Mosley; and a son, Samuel Mosley Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Mosley Cooper of Bryan; a brother, Joe Mosley of Bryan; a sister, Lucille Lethridge of Compton, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or the Scholarship Fund of Galilee
Baptist Church.

John Thomas Rowan
April 29, 1914 — Oct. 11, 2000

KILLEEN, Texas — Services for John Thomas Rowan, 86, of Killeen were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Baptist Church in Killeen.

The Revs. Dr. Joe Rich, J.F. Franks and Alvin Sutton officiated. Burial was in the Killeen City Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
Mr. Rowan died Wednesday in Temple, Texas.

He was born in New York City and had lived in Killeen since 1956. He was retired from the U.S. Army and was also a theater manager at the Rancier Drive-In from 1963 to 1975. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Glynn Impson Rowan.

Survivors include a son, Terry Rowan of College Station; a daughter, Sandra “Sandy” Kay Donahue of Troy, Texas; and four grandsons.

Osie Rush Sr.
March 31, 1925 — Oct. 9, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Osie Rush Sr., 75, of Navasota are set for 1 p.m. Monday at Truevine Baptist Church in Navasota.

Burial will be in Barker Cemetery in Millican.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Navasota.

Mr. Rush died Monday in Grimes St. Joseph Health Center.

He was born in Brazos County.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lizzie Mae Rush.

Survivors include five sons, Osie Rush Jr. and Irie Lee Rush, both of Navasota, David Lee Rush of Klein, Texas, Robert Earl Rush of Bryan and Don Wayne Rush of Corsicana, Texas; three daughters, Annie Lee Bowie of Houston, Ida Fay Johnson of Fresno, Texas, and Annette Taylor of Navasota; five sisters, Annie Mae Sweed of Washington County, Willie Mae Homes of Houston, Chalie Mae Bassey of Bryan, Perlia Mae and Gladis Marie of Columbus, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Edward Odell Hefti
Jan. 21, 1921 — Oct. 14, 2000

Services for Edward Odell Hefti, 79, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Callaway-Jones Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Malcolm Bane of the First Baptist Church in College Station will officiate. Burial will be in the College Station City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hefti died Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Jones Prairie, Texas, and had lived in College Station since 1949. He was involved with the Texas A&M Print Shop while also making a second career of gunstock making and refinishing. After his retirement in 1978, he became involved in skeet shooting and was a member of the All-American Skeet Team in 1988 and 2000. He served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II as a private first class with weapons qualification. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in College Station.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Hefti of College Station; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward Odell Jr. and Dianne Hefti of Iowa Park, Texas; a daughter, Cathy Ann McLaughlin of Plano, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Alex C. Duran Jr.
Jan. 8, 1955 — Oct. 14, 2000

Services for Alex C. Duran Jr., 45, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Santa Teresa Catholic Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Victor Robles of Santa Teresa Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Duran died Saturday in Washington County as a result of an auto accident.

He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and was a member of Santa Teresa Catholic Church. He was a corrections officer for the state prison in Navasota and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Somerville. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Duran of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Alex III and Elena Duran of Bryan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and David Alvarado and Rebecca and Michael Breeding, all of Bryan; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard Duran of Somerville and Johnny and Dorothy Yeppez of Bryan; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Hope Juarez and Irene and Manuel Mejias, all of Somerville, Sylvia and Domingo Vega of Chriesman, Texas, and Tina and Frank Elbrich of Bryan; his stepfather, Ernest Espinoza of Somerville; an uncle; and four grandchildren.
