M. Condy Pugh Jr., M.D.

Graveside services for M. Condy Pugh Jr., M.D. will be held Monday, October 30, 2000 at College Station Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. Malcolm Bane officiating. Dr. Pugh died this past Friday at Seton Medical Center, Austin, Texas.

Dr. Pugh was the son of Helen and Marion Pugh and was raised in College Station. Dr. Pugh was a graduate of A&M Consolidated, Texas A&M University and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He practiced Emergency Medicine in Austin, Texas.

Dr. Pugh is survived by his mother, Mrs. Helen Pugh of College Station; four children, King Pugh of Maple Plane, Mn., Kyle Pugh of Dallas, Tx., Noel Pugh of San Antonio, Tx., and Bryant Pugh of Richmond, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Memorials are requested to be made to the building fund of the First Baptist Church of College Station in lieu of flowers.

Helene L. Price
March 9, 1918 — Oct. 27, 2000

Services for Helene L. Price, 82, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Tim Owens of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the College Station City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station.

Mrs. Price died Friday in the College Station Medical Center.

She was born in Maxwell, Texas, and had lived in College Station since 1942. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Woman’s Club of Bryan. She was also a member of the A&M College of Veterinary Medicine Faculty Wives. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bryan, where she taught Vacation Bible School and volunteered at the Welcome Desk. She also volunteered with the Discovery Group at the First Baptist Church in College Station.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin A. Price of College Station; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. and Sandy Price of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Bob Agee of Orlando, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Norma Bachschmid of Colleyville, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 205 East 29th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803-6906.

Frances Tiffany
Aug. 7, 1917 — Oct. 28, 2000

Services for Frances Tiffany, 83, of College Station are set for noon Monday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in College Station.

Deacon Ted Baker of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be Wednesday at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station.

Mrs. Tiffany died Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in El Paso and had lived in College Station for 16 years. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She learned to fly by the age of 14 and was one of the first women in Texas to have a pilot’s license. She flew in the Civil Air Patrol in Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Robert Samuel Tiffany Jr.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Major Robert S. III and Katrina Tiffany of Fayetteville, N.C., and Lt. Col. John R. Tiffany of Arlington, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Dr. Joseph Castiglioni of College Station; a brother and sister-in-law, Gus A. and Rosine James of El Paso; a sister and brother-in-law, Carman and Thomas Gallegos of El Paso; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Ocie Wood Cooper
Sept. 13, 1911 — Oct. 28, 2000

Graveside services for Ocie Wood Cooper, 89, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Midwest City, Okla.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Cooper died Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Stigler, Okla., and had lived in Bryan for 39 years. She was retired as a teacher at Stephen F. Austin School in Bryan. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s degree in Education from Oklahoma State University. She was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gyles W. Cooper.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Monte and Bonita Cooper of Greenville, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann Cooper and Art LeFlore of Oklahoma City; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ona Irene and Glenn McIninch of Rochester, N.Y., and Mary Belle and Glen Thompson Jr. of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ethel Dunn
Aug. 25, 1913 — Oct. 26, 2000

Services for Ethel Dunn, 87, of Hearne are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel A.M.E. Methodist Church in Hearne.

The Rev. Allen D. Edwards of Bethel A.M.E. Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Daniel & Son Funeral Home in Bryan and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mrs. Dunn died Thursday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Calvert and had lived in Hearne for 23 years. She was a retired teacher and attended Sam Houston State University, Paul Quinn College and U.C.L.A. She was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church while living in Bryan and was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Methodist Church in Hearne.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Senator J. Kemp and W.D. Dunn.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Shirley Nash of Houston; a brother, George A. Hammond of Austin; and two sisters, Millie C. Smith and Eloise H. Pryor, both of Waco.

Memorials may be made to Bethel A.M.E. Methodist Church in Hearne.

Walter L. Scott
July 1, 1927 — Oct. 28, 2000

LA MARQUE, Texas — Services for Walter L. Scott, 73, of La Marque are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque.

The Rev. Gary Bagley will officiate. Burial will be in the College Station City Cemetery.

Mr. Scott died Saturday in Columbia-Mainland Medical Center Hospital in Texas City, Texas.

He was born in Kinston, N.C., and was an installer for the telephone company. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 126 in Galveston.

Survivors include his wife, Janis Scott of La Marque; six children; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

M. Condy Pugh Jr
Jan. 8, 1943 — Oct. 27, 2000

Graveside services for M. Condy Pugh Jr., M.D. will be held Monday, October 30, 2000 at College Station Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. Malcolm Bane officiating. Dr. Pugh died this past Friday at Seton Medical Center, Austin, Texas.

Col. Don H. Walton
Mary Beth Winkler Walton
Oct. 28, 2000

Services for Col. Don H. Walton and Mary Beth Winkler Walton, both of San Antonio, are set for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at San Pedro Presbyterian Church in San Antonio.

Dr. Calvin Reynolds will officiate, and burial will be in the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Visitation is set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North Chapel, which is handling arrangements.

Mr. and Mrs. Walton were married for 31 years. Mr. Walton was born in New Mexico and grew up in El Paso. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the 1st Cavalry division. While serving in the Pacific during World War II, he was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver and Bronze Stars. He retired from the military as a colonel in 1970.

After the war, he returned to San Antonio and established Walton Distributing Co. Inc., a petrochemical business. In 1971, he was one of the founding members of BG Products Inc. of Wichita, Kan., serving as its president and as chairman of the board.

Mrs. Walton grew up in College Station and graduated from the University of Texas in 1945, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing in a bridge club twice a month. She was an active member of the San Pedro Hills Women’s Club. The couple was among the original members of San Pedro Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include five children, Bruce Beezley and his wife, Linda; Jack Beezley and his wife, Esther; Donald “Buddy” Walton and his wife, Sheryl; Loetitia Nelson and her husband, Larry; and Tracie Hengst and her husband, Ronnie; Mrs. Walton’s brother, Max Winkler and his wife, Edith; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Texas A&M University’s Corps of Cadets, 1st Cavalry Association or San Pedro Presbyterian Church.

Harold Arvin Anderson
Sept. 23, 1911 — Oct. 29, 2000

Services for Harold Arvin Anderson, 89, of College Station are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station.

The Revs. Jose Alaniz Jr. and James W.L. Adams Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the College Station City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Anderson died Sunday in Southwood Nursing Home.

He was born in Elton, La., and lived in College Station for 20 years. He retired in 1965 after 44 years of service with Neches Butane Products Company. He served with the Gideon’s distributing Bibles and was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in College Station.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Anderson of College Station; a son and daughter-in-law, Swiki and Judy Anderson of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Leni and Michael Henke of Alexandria, Va.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through Parkway Baptist Church to the Joshua Fund for Missionary Outreach in Tiruvur, India.

Richard Lorenzo ‘Dick’ Lewis
Oct. 16, 1928 — Oct. 24, 2000

WHITTIER, Calif. — Memorial services for Richard Lorenzo “Dick” Lewis, 72, of Whittier are set for 9 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Gardens in Brea, Calif.

Burial will be at Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.

Mr. Lewis died Tuesday at his home.

He was born in Bedias and was a former resident of Bryan. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1946 and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as an electronics technician and taught electronics. He retired from Hitachi in 1992. He received trophies for golf and bowling and was a member of the B.P.O. Elks in La Harbor, and the VFW.

Survivors include two sons, Douglas Lewis of Gresgam, Ore., and Davis Lewis of Whittier; two daughters, Kathy Lewis and Colleen Lewis, both of California; five brothers, Estal M. Lewis and J.C. Lewis, both of Bryan, Charles B. Lewis of Bedias, Winfred Lewis of Temple, Texas, and Texas Lewis of Arizona; three sisters, Eva Howell of Atlanta, Reba Irvin and Faye Tracy, both of Bryan, and Lupe Aquirre of Whittier; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
