Nedra Roquemore

Services for Nedra Hoyt Roquemore, 82, of Palestine will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Philip's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Mike Glenn officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mrs. Roquemore died Wednesday at her residence.

She was born March 18, 1921, in Hearne to John Fletcher Hoyt and Ruby Mae Seagler Hoyt.

Mrs. Roquemore had lived in Palestine most of her life. She and her husband owned Pic N' Go Convenience Store from 1957 to 1985. She was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church from the 1950s where she was active in Daughters of the King and the Episcopal Church Women's Group. She was a member of the Harvey Women's Club and the Mardi Gras Krewe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Delbert Roquemore, in August 1979.

Mrs. Roquemore is survived by sons, Larry Delbert Roquemore and wife Tana of  Whitehouse and Hoyt Matt Roquemore and Helle Laursen of Dallas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Paul Elliott, Marley Styner, Cad Williams, Leo Mizell, Ted Maffitt, Don Haynes, Johnny Youngblood and Lamar Muse.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Philip's Episcopal Church or Hospice of East  Texas.

Ruth Ann Hucklebridge

Memorial services for Ruth Ann Hucklebridge, 62, of Palestine will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Bro. Jerry Means officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mrs. Hucklebridge died Monday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 9, 1942 in Canelton, W.Va., to Jess and Ruth Carrie Bess McKnight.

Mrs. Hucklebridge worked as a clerk at the  Texas Department of Pardons and Parole. She was the treasurer of Westwood Athletic Booster Club for 22 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Hucklebridge is survived by her husband of 38 years, Rob Hucklebridge Sr. of Palestine; daughter, Carrie Hucklebridge of Palestine; sons, Rob Hucklebridge Jr. of Houston and Lee Hucklebridge and wife Kelly of Fort Worth; brothers, Walter McKnight of Summersville, W. Va., and Robert McKnight of Fallsview, W.Va.; and three grandchildren, Dane Hucklebridge, J.P. Hucklebridge and Logan Hucklebridge.

The family will receive condolence calls from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday before the service.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15186, Austin,  Texas 78761.

Bob Tague

Services for Bob Tague, 78, of Tyler will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lloyd James Funeral Chapel in Tyler with Bob Mayfield officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Restland Cemetery in Dallas with the Rev. David Cobb officiating.

Mr. Tague died Monday in Tyler.

He is survived by his son, Jeff Tague and wife, Ann of Tyler; daughter, Susan Tague Bearden of Palestine; grandson, Matthew Bearden of Waco; and special friend, Christine Kuykendall of Tyler.

Honorary pallbearers will be William D. Lawrence Jr., David Lawrence, Spencer Woods, Will  Woods and Amanda Lawrence.

If desired, memorials may be made to Don Anderson Ministries, P.O. Box 6611, Tyler,  Texas, 75711.

Harriett Dawson

Services for Harriett Dawson, 93, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Living God in Tennessee Colony with the Revs. Annelle Haney, H.W. Haney and Mary Terry officiating. Burial will follow at Jimmerson Quarters Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dawson died Jan. 29 at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Ida Mae Rimes

Services for Ida Mae Rimes, 62, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at South Union Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Jay Lee, Gary  Jackson and Tommy Lee Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow at Pinery Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rimes died Jan. 30 in Round Rock.

Nadine Mathews
2-05-2004
Services for Nadine Mathews, 74, of Oakwood will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Regular New Home District Association Tabernacle in Centerville on FM 1119. Burial will follow at Shiloh Community Cemetery under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mathews died Saturday in Tyler.

Nannie Mae McClendon

Funeral arrangements for Nannie Mae McClendon, 71, of Centerville are pending at Emanuel Funeral Home in Teague.

Mrs. McClendon died Wednesday night at Medical City Hospital in Dallas.

Estell Hickman Watson

Mrs. Watson died this morning at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Velma Lucille York

Services for Velma Lucille York, 72, of Fairfield were at 2 p.m. today at Capps Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Deward Mullen and Mack Roller officiating. Interment followed at Steward's Mill Cemetery.

Mrs. York died Tuesday in Fairfield.

Theresa A. Pessoney

Services for Theresa Adria Pessoney, 89, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Zacharias Kunnakkattuthara officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home. A rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will receive condolences following the rosary service.

Theresa Adria Pessoney, the daughter of George F. and Elizabeth Pessoney died in Palestine Thursday night at Palestine Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Ms. Pessoney was born in Palestine on Sept. 7, 1914. She was educated at Saint Mary's Academy through high school and at Our Lady of the Lake University, where she graduated with a degree in modern foreign languages with highest honors in 1935.

She was a teacher in the elementary and secondary schools in Palestine and Neches and after earning a credential in special education at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches continued her career in the Latexo public schools.

Ms. Pessoney was an expert seamstress, concentrating on quilting, with her handiwork on display and winning many awards in fairs and exhibits throughout the state of  Texas. She also was an accomplished musician and played the organ for many years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palestine, of which she was a lifelong member.

She was a member and president of the Altar Society, the Legion of Mary and the Queen's Daughters at Sacred Heart. She was a charter member of the Meleterion Study Club and a member of the Harvey Woman's Club, Meadowbrook Country club and the Palestine Fishing Club at Crystal Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother George F. Pessoney Jr.; and her sisters Frances Pessoney Wiley and Marie Pessoney Klein.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Cathryn P. Williams of Palestine and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Franklin C. Williams Jr., Grady Cole, Tucker Axum, Bobby Totah, Alex Kobar, Walter David Bunch, Dr. David Thompson and Bob McKelvey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Archie Rampy and Father Dennis Walsh.

W.E. "Ernie" Pyle

Services for W.E. "Ernie" Pyle, 84, of the Looneyville community near Cushing will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Dickie Allen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Coley Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery near Apple Springs.

Mr. Pyle died Friday in Center.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home in Cushing.

Brian Keith Denman

Mr. Denman died at his residence Saturday.

John C. Becker

Services for John C. Becker, 84, of Palestine will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Revs. Dan Bubach and Sam Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery.

Mr. Becker died Sunday morning at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 15, 1919, in Montalba to Anton and Elizabeth Heber Becker.

Mr. Becker lived all of his life in Anderson County. He was a member of First Christian Church of Palestine.

He graduated from the Montalba school system and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Dutch New Guinea for 18 months. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3907 of Palestine. He was retired and had worked at Knox Glass plant in Palestine from 1946 to 1981.

Mr. Becker was preceded in death by son, James C. Becker, in August 1970; brother, Mike Becker; and sisters, Eva Becker and Anna Owens.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elda Becker of Palestine; daughter, Janet M. Becker of Houston; brother, Joe T. Becker and wife Jessie of Tyler; extended family, Beth and Clyce Marshall of Palestine; grandson, James C. Becker II and wife Amey of Arlington; several nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Pallbearers will be Bascom Bentley, C.C. Clifton, Ron Robb, Mike Morris, Matt Tokarczyk and Cliff Johnston. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyce Marshall, Steve Branson, John Lamb, Bill Gilbert, Joe Guerro and the E.V. Swift Sunday School class at First Christian Church.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at First Christian Church.

Brian Denman

Services for Brian Denman, 45, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Land of Memory Cemetery with Dr. Stephen Holcombe officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Denman died Saturday at his residence.

He was born Jan. 20, 1959, to Kenneth Denman and Lucille Facaine Denman.

Mr. Denman was a graduate of Elkhart High School and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. At the time of his death, he was a machinist for Jacksonville Tool & Die.

He was preceded in death by his mother; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Denman and Max and Estelle Facaine.

Mr. Denman is survived by his wife, Bobbi Denman of Palestine; father, Kenneth Denman and wife Euleon of Palestine; daughters, Cassie Denman and Christa Denman, both of Palestine; and brother, Michael Denman of Palestine.

Pallbearers will be Claude Higgins, Steve Pace, Terry Bell, David Walling, Harold Troutman and Marty Wessel.

Billie J. Harris

Graveside services for Billie J. Harris, 69, of Lindale will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Land of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. John LaNoue officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harris died Sunday in a Tyler hospital.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight.

Phyllis Commander

Services for Phyllis Irene Commander, 67, of Palestine will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mrs. Commander died Monday at East  Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
