Adolph “Deacon” Diebel

NORTH ZULCH — Services for Adolph “Deacon” Diebel, 74, of Madisonville are set for 1 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Madisonville. The Rev. Dick White will officiate. Burial will be at the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston with a graveside service.

Arrangements are under the direction of J.M. Day Funeral Home of Madisonville.
Mr. Diebel died Wednesday in Madisonville. He was born in Dallas. He served in the Army during World War II. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Oklahoma. He was a design engineer for Philco Ford. He was a drafting teacher at Horn School in San Antonio. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Madisonville.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Diebel of North Zulch; one son, Adolph Zane Diebel of Torrence, Calif.; two daughters, December Stanley of San Antonio, Summer Frances Diebel of Redondo Beach, Calif.; two stepchildren, Amy and Chuck Wills of Round Rock; Andrew and Stephanie Hilliard of Spring; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Wilma “Betsy” and John Voight of Tyler; and many friends.

Eunice Harris
April 10, 1911 - Nov. 6, 2000

Services for Eunice Harris, 89, of Bryan are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at West Union Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Anthony Lang will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday with a wake service from 7 to 8 p.m. and visitation from 8 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harris died Monday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Caldwell. She was retired from Bryan Independent School District. She sang in the choir and was an usher and a member of mission at Eastern Star. She was a member of the West Union Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Harris, Sr.

Survivors include six sons, Rev. Mack Harris of Reddings, Calif., Hubert Harris of Dallas, Lawrence Harris of Houston, Columbus Harris, Eugene Harris, and James Harris, all of Bryan; eight daughters, Ruby Bolden of Dallas, Dorothy Morehead of Dallas, Tereice Lehman of Houston, Delora Steamer of Belton, Lula Phillips, Geril Harris, Helen Harris, and Joyce Harris McMurry, all of Bryan; one sister, Frankie Mae Lucas of Bakersfield, Calif.; 52 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to West Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Willie Manning
Dec. 8, 1935 - Nov. 6, 2000

HOUSTON — Services for Willie Manning, 64, of Houston, are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 8309 Brandon St. in Houston. The Rev. James E. Nash will officiate. Burial will be at Little Rock Cemetery in Anderson.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota. A wake service will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church in Houston.

Mrs. Manning died Monday at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston. She formerly had lived in Navasota.

She was born in Grimes County. She was a member of Greater St. Paul Baptist Church in Houston.

Survivors include her husband, Isiah Manning; three sons, Percy Lee Spriggs of Navasota, James Ellis Spriggs of Navasota, Donald Wayne Spriggs of Houston; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra Bookman Waites and Stanley Wynell Waites of Austin; one brother, Elijar Spriggs, Jr. of Houston; one sister, Thelma Minor of Houston; her mother, Willie Mae Blackshear; and eight grandchildren.

Howard Higgs Porterfield
June 19, 1947 - Nov. 8, 2000

Services for Howard Higgs Porterfield, 53, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Hillier Funeral Home. Rev. Eddie Mayo of Elliott Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Porterfield died Wednesday at College Station Medical Center.

He was born in Bryan. He was a Realtor. He was a member of the National Council of Exchangers, National Board of Directors of Exchangers, and past president of the Texas Equity Marketing Network. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Charlene Porterfield of Bryan; a daughter, Stefanie Lyn Porterfield of Bryan; a stepdaughter, Betty Sue Bingham of Tomball; one brother and sister-in-law, Clyde J. and Peg Porterfield, Jr. of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tia and George Fowler of Bryan, Linda Lee and Larry J. Lilly of Salado; his mother, Irene H. Porterfield of Bryan; and one step-grandson.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Hospice Brazos Valley.

John Ramos, III
Dec. 25, 1982 - Nov. 7, 2000

Services for John Ramos III, 17, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Bryan. Dr. Tim Owens will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Bryan.

An inspirational message will be given at 7 p.m. Friday by Rev. Danny Durong.

Mr. Ramos died Tuesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Bryan. He was a crew member for Wendy’s in College Station.
Survivors include two brothers, John David Ramos and John Jesse Ramos, both of College Station; one sister, Kimberly Danielle Ramos of College Station; a half-sister, Norma Jean Ramos of Gonzales; his parents, John and Annette Ramos, Jr. of College Station; his grandmothers, Victoria Espiriqueta and Amelia G. Ramos of Bryan.

Aridean Harrison
Feb. 27, 1908 - Nov. 6, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Aridean Harrison, 92, of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Providence Baptist Church in Caldwell. The Rev. H.C. Abbott will officiate. Burial will be in Bell Town Cemetery in the Bell Town Community.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mrs. Harrison died Monday at Fayette Memorial Hospital in La Grange.

She was born in Burleson County. She was a housewife. She was a member of the Providence Baptist Church. She had been a Sunday school superintendent, choir president and chaplin of the United Mission La Grange District Association. She was active in other church functions and was a matron of Lodge Chapter No. 321.

Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-law, Edward Harrison, Jr. and Joyce of Grand Prairie, Texas, George and Valinda Harrison of California, Jimmie Harrison of Caldwell; four daughters and sons-in-law, Thelma and James Dibbles of Giddings, Dorothy Menton of Lubbock, Cecil and Charles Demon of Giddings, Betty and Richard Moore of Brownwood; four sisters and two brothers; 29 grandchldren; 40 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.

Mattie Ruth Pratt
July 27, 1933 - Nov. 2, 2000

ANDERSON — Services for Mattie Ruth Pratt, 67, of Anderson are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at McKenzie Chapel United Methodist Church in Anderson. The Rev. H. Solomon will officiate. Burial will be in Pineywoods Cemetery in Anderson.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota. Mrs. Pratt died Thursday at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston.  She was born in Grimes County and was a housewife.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Riley Pratt Jr.

Survivors include her son, Jessie James Pratt; and her three daughters, Gloridean Pratt, Eddie Pearl Pratt and Catherine Pratt.

Agnes Williams
April 11, 1918 - Nov. 7, 2000

DAVILLA — Services for Agnes Williams, 82, of Davilla, are set for 1 pm. Saturday at Pecan Street Church of Christ in Rockdale. Brother Thomas Perry of Crestview Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in the Davilla Cemetery in Davilla, Texas.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home of Rockdale.

Mrs. Williams died Tuesday at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. She was born in Davilla. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Williams was a member of Davilla Church of Christ. She attended Davilla School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Williams.

Survivors include five sons, Vernel Williams of Compton, Calif., Joe Franklin Williams of Herford, Texas, James Howard Williams of Denver, Colo., Elbert Von Williams of San Antonio, Jerry Eugene Williams of Davilla.; four daughters, Velma Lee Phifer of Brooklyn, N.Y., Annie Mae Roberson of Liberty, Texas, Julia Ann McCullough of Davilla, Gloria Dian Williams of Davilla; one sister, Ollie Mae Walker of Herford, Texas; 29 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Augusta Hooker
Oct. 25, 1911 - Nov. 8, 2000

FRANKLIN — Services for Mary Augusta Hooker, 89, of Franklin are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin. The Rev. Jim Manning of First Baptist Church of Franklin will officiate.

Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hooker died Wednesday at Franklin Nursing Home.

She was born in Franklin and graduated from Franklin high School and Sam Houston State. She was a retired school teacher and taught in the Franklin Independent School District for many years. She was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Lillie Lomax of San Antonio; a nephew and grandson.

Arthur Van Dell
Sept. 18, 1915 - Nov. 8, 2000

Services for Arthur Van Dell, 85, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Monsignor John Malinowski will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Ever Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. VanDell died Wednesday at his home. He was born in Eveleth, Minn. He was a member of the Bryan VFW Local #4962, a member of The Borger, Texas Moose Lodge, and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a veteran of the Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Polly Van Dell of Bryan; three sons, Carey Van Dell of Amarillo, Gary Carson of Bowie, Mitch Carson of Benchley, Texas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Darrel Johnson of Rowlett, Texas, Charlotte and Lt. Col. James Doty of Fredricksburg, Va., Carolyn and David Lightsey of Benchley; one niece, 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Brazos Valley.

Exxie C. Bass
Aug. 30, 1945 - Nov. 9, 2000

Services for Exxie C. Bass, 55, of Bryan are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. The Rev. Tommy bass will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bass died Thursday in Temple.

She was born in Amarillo. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Melanie Bass of Magnolia, a daughter, Regina Bass of Santa Fe, N.M., her mother, Earline Wells of Austin, three sisters, Zipra Morgan of Austin, Brenda Bilicek of DeWitt, Mich., Tammy Wells of Irving; a special friend, Alex McKay of Bryan; and three grandchildren.

Mary Lou Elliott
Jan. 15, 1948 - Nov. 8, 2000

Services for Mary Lou Elliott, 52, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Adams Funeral Chapel in Marlin. Dr. Carroll Fancher and Dr. Richard Jenkins will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Elliott died Wedneday in an Austin hospital.

She was born in McKinney, Texas. She was a retired respiratory therapist for St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marlin and was a lifelong resident of the Bryan, Navasota, Marlin area.

Survivors include her husband, Ed Elliott of Bryan; three daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Brown of Waco, Kathy Brown of Bryan, Shantell and Will Collins of Bryan; her mother, Ann Holland of Marlin; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Jack Williams of Huntsville; five grandchildren and three nieces.

David Wilkerson
July 16, 1920 - Nov. 9, 2000

Services for David Wilkerson, 80, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home. The Rev. Henry Stovall of Trinity Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilkerson died Thursday at College Station Medical Center.

He was born in Robertson County. He retired from Texas A&M University where he worked in the maintenance department. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Kurten. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Flo Wilkerson of Bryan; his son, Clyde Wilkerson of Bryan; a stepson, Eddie and Renee Macik of College Station; Albert Joe and Annlynn Macik of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Tracy Duncan of Amarillo; stepdaughters, Francis and Louis Storemski, Patricia and Arnold Matcek, Rosie and Roy Kehlenbrink; all of Bryan; Laura and Kenneth Jeske of Caldwell; a brother, Elbert Wilkerson of Louisiana; a sister, Maudell Balzek of Dallas; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Eloise Davis Neason
Nov. 27, 1908 - Nov. 8, 2000

HUNTSVILLE — Services for Eloise Davis Neason, 91, of Huntsville are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Huntsville. The Rev. Carrol Williams will officiate. Burial will be at Red Top Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Huntsville Funeral Home.
Mrs. Neason died Wednesday in Huntsville.

She was born in Shiro. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Huntsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Crowder Neason.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Homer Charles Neason of Shiro; her daughter and son-in-law, Joann Neason Berglund and Carl of Houston; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
