Feb. 10, 1908 — Nov. 7, 2000

Cryptside services for Josephine E. Widdison, 92, of Bryan are set for 4 p.m. Sunday at Restever Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bryan.

The Rev. Joe Gossett of Faith United Church of Christ in Bryan will officiate.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mrs. Widdison died Tuesday at her home.

She was born in Greenfield, Mass., and had lived in Bryan since 1992. She formerly lived in Ormond Beach, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Byron Widdison Sr.

Survivors include two sons, Lee G. Widdison Sr. of Bryan and Wesley B. Widdison II of Ormond Beach; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Faith United Church of Christ in Bryan.

Emma Bethel Damon
April 25, 1927 — Nov. 10, 2000

CENTERVILLE — Services for Emma Bethel Damon, 73, of Centerville are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville.

The Rev. Billy Gunnels of the New Salem Baptist Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Damon died Friday at her home.

She was born in Leon County and had lived in Centerville since 1989. She was raised in the Centerview Community in east Leon County and was a former resident of Huntsville, Texas. She was a homemaker and was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Clyde R. Damon of Centerville; a son, Danny Ray Damon of Richardson, Texas; two daughters, Peggy J. McCurdy of Garland, Texas, and Clydene Crowder of Sherman, Texas; two brothers, George Duke of Waxahachie, Texas, and Jerry Duke of Riverside, Texas; two sisters, Myrtie Alice Kuhn and Mary McRae, both of Centerville; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Ruby Mae Williams
Sept. 5, 1936 — Nov. 9, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for Ruby Mae Williams, 64, of Madisonville are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Madisonville.

The Rev. Jeff Witcher will officiate. Burial will be in the Bedias Baptist Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home.

Mrs. Williams died Thursday at her home.

She was raised in Madisonville and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She cared for children in her home and later worked for Amycel in Madisonville. At the time of her death she was employed by Madisonville I.S.D. in the GED program.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Ray Williams.

Survivors include her mother, Neva Guyton Baker of Madisonville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Nelson and Sarah Williams and David Ray “Bo” and Stacy Williams, all of Madisonville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Neva Yvonne and Randy Morgan of Madisonville, Jo Ann and Jim Phillips of Midway and Patricia Lynn and Dennis Fewell of Springtown, Texas; two brothers, Thomas Baker of Danbury, Texas, and Kenneth Baker of Fairfield, Texas; and nine grandchildren.

Harold Orville ‘Hal’ Wheelock
Oct. 27, 1931 — Nov. 8, 2000

CALDWELL — Graveside services for Harold Orville “Hal” Wheelock, 69, of Somerville are set for 1 p.m. Monday at the Houston National Cemetery.

David Osgood will officiate. military honors will be under the auspices of the VFW District 4 Ceremonial Detail.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mr. Wheelock died Wednesday at Oakland Manor in Giddings, Texas.

He was born in Mound Valley, Kan., and was a retired pressman for the Houston Post. He was a member of VFW Post No. 4458 and the American Legion Post No. 455.
Survivors include his wife, Peggie Wheelock of Somerville; a step-son, David Osgood of Houston; and three brothers, James O. Wheelock of Nowata, Okla., Ronald Wheelock of Pineville, Mo., and John Wheelock of Parsons, Kan.

Charles Bailor Goodnight
Oct. 18, 1995 — Nov. 8, 2000

AUSTIN — Memorial services for Charles Bailor Goodnight, 5, of Austin are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Austin.

Arrangements are under the direction of Harrell Funeral Home in Austin.
Bailor died Wednesday.

Survivors include his parents, Dean and Shawn Goodnight; a sister, Madeleine Goodnight; and his grandparents, Herb and Sharon Currie and Claudia Goodnight.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Child Life Department at Children’s Hospital of Austin Foundation, 601 East 15th Street, Austin, Texas 78701-1996.

Mary Helen Espino
Nov. 20, 1961 — Nov. 9, 2000

Services for Mary Helen Espino, 38, of Cartersville, Ga., and formerly of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Steve Kana of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ms. Espino died Thursday in Georgia as a result of an automobile accident.

She was born in Littlefield, Texas, and worked in the computer industry.

Survivors include her husband, Alfonso Lopez Ramirez of Cartersville, Ga.; two daughters, Christina Espino and Rita Espino, both of Bryan; a son, Luis Carlos Espino Jr. of Bryan; her mother and stepfather, Olivia and Lupe Lopez of Hollis, Okla.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Rachel Esparsa of Bryan and Paul and Susan Esparsa of Hollis, Okla.; seven sisters and brothers-in-law, Francis and Emilio Oveida of Weslaco, Texas, Mary Minerva and Simon Guzman and Susie and Alejandro Mejia, all of Memphis, Tenn., Mary Dora and Ernesto Garcia, Mary Manuela and Isidro Moreno, Mary Hope and Greg Gutierrez and Barbara and Federico Fuentes, all of Hollis, Okla.; seven nieces; and 13 nephews.

James C. Mahle Jr.
Sept. 1, 1930 — Nov. 10, 2000

Graveside services for James C. Mahle Jr., 70, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Callaway-Jones Funeral home in Bryan.
Mr. Mahle died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Navasota and had lived in Bryan for 67 years. He was the director of maintenance and operations for College Station schools before his retirement. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954 and was a member of the Earl Graham American Legion Post No. 159.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim Mahle III, Terry and Rhonda Mahle and Scott Mahle, all of Bryan; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Marc Kahil of Kingwood, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Louis Fickey of Kurten; and six grandchildren.

Marcus Alan Martinez
April 4, 1985 — Nov. 11, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Marcus Alan Martinez, 15, of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell.

The Rev. Dimitrij Colankin will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Marcus Martinez died Saturday in Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas.

He was born in Bryan and was student at the Learning Center at Caldwell Middle School.

Survivors include his parents, Facundo and Manuela Garibay Martinez of Caldwell; his biological parents, Marcus Ostiguin of Caldwell and Shirley Levenson of Houston; two sisters, Kimberly Becik of Austin and Elizabeth Ostiguin of College Station; and a half-sister, Mariah Carrie Ostiguin of Caldwell.

Linda Tracy
May 29, 1949 — Nov. 9, 2000

Services for Linda Tracy, 51, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the North Bryan New Birth Baptist Church.

The Revs. Lonzell Patton Jr. and Gary Samford of the North Bryan New Birth Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Kurten Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Mrs. Tracy died Thursday in College Station Medical Center.

She was born in Alhambra, Calif., and had lived in Bryan for 26 years. She graduated from Blinn College with honors and an associate degree. She was a member and secretary at the North Bryan New Birth Baptist Church and also worked with the youth at Northview Baptist Church. She volunteered at College Station Medical Center and was a teacher’s aid in special education classes for Bryan ISD.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Tracy of Bryan; two sons, David Tracy and Shannon Tracy, both of Bryan; her mother, Catherine Abshire of Bryan; a brother, Keith Abshire of Bryan; a sister, Sheri Miller of Austin; and numerous other relatives.

John I. Nix
Jan. 12, 1941 — Nov. 9, 2000

Services for John I. Nix, 59, of Somerville are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Christian Church in Lyons.

Elder Lois Hodrick will officiate. Burial will be in the Lyons Cemetery in Somerville.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mr. Nix died Thursday at his home.

He was born in Burleson County and was a lifelong resident of Somerville. He was retired after 20 years with Alenco and was a member of St. James Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lois M. Nix of Somerville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Eric R. and Sheila Nix of Okinawa, Japan, and Dexter D. Nix of Somerville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Daphne and Charles Deering and Tiffany and Richard Lee, all of Bryan; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, L.C. and Gloria Nix and Albert and Effie Nix, all of Houston, and Walter Nix of Somerville; two sisters, Ollie Bledsoe of Wichita, Kan., and Mary Nix of Los Angeles; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Robert Jewel ‘Dick’ Pope
May 12, 1912 — Nov. 11, 2000

CAMERON — Services for Robert Jewel “Dick” Pope, 88, of the Friendship community near Buckholts are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Friendship United Methodist Church.

The Revs. Bill Fulton and Ray Reed will officiate. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.
Mr. Pope died Saturday in a Temple, Texas, nursing facility.

He was born in Milam County and was retired from the oil-field service industry. He was a former director with the Bell-Milam-Falls Water Board and was a member of the Alice VFW Post No. 8621. He was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret McQuarry Pope of Thorndale; two sons, Robert Ross “Bob” Pope of Napierville, Ill., and Lewis Wayne Pope of Temple, Texas; a daughter, Margaret Ann Ehlers of Lake Jackson, Texas; a brother, Marvin Ellis “Red” Pope of Victoria, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Morris A. Robeson
Feb. 3, 1917 — Nov. 10, 2000

CENTERVILLE — Services for Morris A. Robeson, 83, of Centerville are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville.

The Rev. Larry Ashley of the First Baptist Church in Centerville will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Robeson died Friday at his home.

He was born in the Pleasant Ridge community in Leon County and was a lifelong resident of Leon County. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a lumberman. He built a small sawmill near his home and later owned the R.W.R. Sawmill in Centerville for 25 years. He owned and operated a repair shop for foreign cars for another 20 years and was also a rancher. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Centerville.

Survivors include his wife, Mable Robeson of Centerville; a son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Zeta Robeson of Keller, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Gerald Willhelm of Centerville; a sister, Noybe Thomas of Lake Livingston, Texas; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 609, Centerville, Texas 75833-0609.
