Henry Jackson ‘Jack’ Woods
Dec. 5, 1926 — Nov. 16, 2000

AUSTIN — Memorial services for Henry Jackson “Jack” Woods, 73, of Austin are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at Highland Park Baptist Church in Austin.

Arrangements are under the direction of Harrell Funeral Home in Austin.

Mr. Woods died Thursday.

He was born in Waco and had lived in Austin since 1981. He was a former resident of College Station from 1966 to 1981 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He taught in the Waco schools ,at Baylor University, Huston-Tillotson College and Texas A&M University and practiced law in Waco. He was the recipient of the Leon Jaworski Award in 1988 for “teaching excellence in law focused education” by the Texas Young Lawyers Association, State Bar of Texas. He served four terms in the Texas House of Representatives and was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and facilitator.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Joyce Woods; eight children and their spouses, Jack Jr. and Janet Woods and Marlane John, all of Georgetown, Texas, Jeanette Penland, Coleman and Jeanne Cunningham, Kyle and Betty Cunningham and Larry and Beth Woods, all of Austin, Cheryl and Bill Hayden of Dripping Spring and Cathy and Eddie Conger of Okinawa; a brother, L.A. Woods of Waco; and nineteen grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Highland Park Baptist Church Building Fund or the Deacon “Because We Care” Fund.

Agustina Martinez Munoz
Sept. 5, 1905 — Nov. 18, 2000

Services for Agustina Martinez Munoz, 95, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Santa Teresa Catholic Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Victor Robles of Santa Teresa Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Munoz died Saturday at her home.

She was born in Monterrey, Mexico, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Santa Teresa Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Guadalupañas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Munoz.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ascencion and Pauline Munoz, Amador and Louise Munoz and Martin and Carmen Munoz, all of Bryan; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Johnny Martinez of Bryan; 25 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Marvie Niemeyer
Jan. 25, 1936 — Nov. 17, 2000

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Marvie Niemeyer, 64, of Milano are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Milano Cemetery in Milano.

The Rev. Calvin Springer of the Rockdale Full Gospel Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mrs. Niemeyer died Friday in Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

She was born in Floresville, Texas, and had lived in Milano for 10 years. She formerly lived in Porter, Texas, and was retired after 30 years as a computer programmer in the banking industry.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Niemeyer of Milano; three brothers, Kenneth Pfullman of Pleasanton, Texas, and Rollie Meloy and Johnny Meloy, both of Houston; two sisters, Bernice Blanchard of Point Blank, Texas, and Elouise Enloe of Houston; and a niece.

Donald Ray Harris
Feb. 14, 1952 — Nov. 16, 2000

Graveside services for Donald Ray Harris, 48, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bryan.

Arrangements are under the of Peoples Mortuary in Bryan.

Mr. Harris died Thursday in College Station Medical Center.

He was born in Brazos County and was retired. He graduated from Calvert High School.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy Harris of Irving, Texas; a son, Roderick Richardson of Palestine, Texas; three brothers, Larry Harris, Clifton Salter and Vernon Salter, all of Bryan; four sisters, Jean Turner of Bryan, Carolyn Roberts of Sherman, Texas, Bernice Kendricks of Waxahachie, Texas, and Lucille Kirklin of Oklahoma City; and his mother, Olivia Harris of Bryan.

Claudia Pippin Duvall
Aug. 27, 1904 — Nov. 18, 2000

ROCKDALE — Services for Claudia Pippin Duvall, 96, of Rockdale are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Holly Cemetery in Ridge, Texas.

The Rev. Lee Lamb will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mrs. Duvall died Saturday in Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.

She was born in Robertson County and lived in Rockdale for seven years. She formerly lived in Pasadena, Texas, for 40 years and was a licensed vocational nurse for 25 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Pasadena.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Admiral Dewey Pippin.

Survivors include two sons, Lionel D. Pippin of Rockdale and Bobby R. Pippin of Pasadena; two daughters, Martha J. Lamb of Bryan and Glenda F. Frost of Flower Mound, Texas; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Larry Joe Jones
April 21, 1954 — Nov. 17, 2000

Services for Larry Joe Jones, 46, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday in Ruby’s Chapel of Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

The Rev. Clifton Stewart of Mt. Olive Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Jones died Friday in Madisonville.

He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and was a laborer.

Survivors include his mother, Vera Jones of Madisonville; his grandmother, Alberta Stouton of Bryan; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Marion and Edna Jones and Charles Jackson, all of Bryan; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and John H. Shrout of Houston.

Eva Mae Hickman
Jan. 29, 1925 — Nov. 19, 2000

CENTERVILLE — Services for Eva Mae Hickman, 75, of Centerville are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville.

The Rev. Roy Botard of the New Life Fellowship Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in Copeland Cemetery in Montgomery County near Conroe, Texas.

Mrs. Hickman died Sunday in Madison St. Joseph Health Center in Madisonville.

She was born in Houston and lived in Centerville since 1970. She was a Baptist and was a licensed vocational nurse. She retired from the Leisure Lodge Nursing Home in Centerville in 1992.

Survivors include a son, William Wayne Hickman of Centerville; a brother, William N. Largent of Centerville; three sisters, Jo Anne Free of Centerville, Georgia Jones and Betty Lou Graham, both of Houston; a granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Emily Ruth Carroll
July 21, 1918 — Nov. 20, 2000

Services for Emily Ruth Carroll, 82, of College Station are set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Rev. Chris Craig of Millican Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in College Station Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 a.m. to the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carroll died Monday in College Station Medical Center.

She was born in Millican and was a lifelong resident of College Station. She was a retired homemaker and was a member of the Millican Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles George Carroll Sr.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, J.B. Carroll of Houston, Jim and Nancy Carroll of College Station and George and Carla Carroll of Bryan; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Glynnis and Janie Price of Lufkin, Texas, and Vernon Price of Millican; a sister, Billye Price Cowan of Millican; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Millican Baptist Church.

Robert Curry
Nov. 1, 1924 — Nov. 19, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Robert Curry, 76, of Navasota are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Navasota.

The Rev. Ross Poteet of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.

Mr. Curry died Sunday in Navasota.

He was born in Navasota and was a rancher. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a staff sergeant and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, May Dell Sommers Curry.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonny Lynn Burger of Navasota; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack and Bettie Sommers of Washington and Clyde and Elaine Sommers of Brenham; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Walter Beerwinkle of Round Rock, Texas; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Audrey and Russell Boney of Brenham; two grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or the Navasota Little League, 702 A Ruth Court, Navasota, Texas 77868.

Kathryn M. Eiland
Sept. 4, 1921 — Nov. 18, 2000

ROCKDALE — Services for Kathryn M. Eiland, 79, of Belton, Texas, are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

The Revs. Harry Thrasher, Joe Beasley, George Bollinger and Earl Pruitt will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Eiland died Saturday in the Weston Inn Health Care Center in Temple.

She was born in Eagle Lake, Texas, and was a homemaker. She was a minister with the Full Gospel Evangelist Association and was a member of the Recreation Acres Full Gospel Church in Houston, where she served as youth leader and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of P.T.A. organizations in the Klein Independent School District for 18 years, serving as president at three different schools and serving in the county and district P.T.A. organizations for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by a son, Bryant Keith Eiland.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis Eiland of Belton; a son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Joan Eiland of Keller, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Eva and Johnny Denman of Belton; a sister-in-law, Lottie Skeeters of Houston; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; a nephew; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God in Belton.

Carl Ford
Dec. 3, 1914 — Nov. 20, 2000

HOUSTON — Services for Carl Ford, 86, of Houston are set for noon Wednesday in the chapel of George H. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home in Houston.

The Rev. James A. Kinman of Alameda Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. at the Independence Cemetery in Bedias.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ford died Monday in Houston.

He was a former deacon of the Alameda Baptist Church and was retired from Exxon Oil Company.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Ford.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
