Bernice Lee Rodgers
Sept. 25, 1920 — Nov. 18, 2000

ROCKDALE — Services for Bernice Lee Rodgers, 80, of Lexington are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lexington Faith Temple Church in Lexington.

The Revs. Jane Moybia and Joe Baucom will officiate. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mrs. Rodgers died Saturday at the Taylor Care Nursing Home in Taylor, Texas.

She was a lifelong resident of Lexington. She worked as a nurse at the Hennesey Nursing Home in Giddings and later for Brewers Feed Store in Lexington. She was a member of Lexington Faith Temple Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bethel Warren Rodgers.

Survivors include a brother, George Williams of Elgin, Texas; two sisters, Jerryliene Terrell and Faye Crim, both of Elgin; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.

Martha ‘Mickey’ Tantillo
March 11, 1914 — Nov. 18, 2000

CAMERON — Services for Martha “Mickey” Tantillo, 86, of Houston are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Burlington, Texas.

The Rev. Alberic Lipinski will officiate. Burial will be in the Clarkson Cemetery in Milam County.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Clarewood House Chapel in Houston.

Arrangements are under the direction of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mrs. Tantillo died Saturday in Houston.

She was born in Rosebud, Texas, and was employed by the West Gulf Maritime Association in Galveston and Houston for 23 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas J. Tantillo.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann Tantillo Moritz and David Moritz of Slidell, La.; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Joseph and Mary Ann Willett Tantillo of Houston; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Clarkson Cemetery Association, c/o George Dodd, Route 2, Rosebud, Texas 76570, The Clarewood House Charitable Trust, 7400 Clarewood Drive, Houston, Texas 77036 or to a charity of choice.

Sadie H. Taylor
Nov. 13, 1915 — Nov. 19, 2000

Services for Sadie H. Taylor, 85, of Bryan are set for 3 p.m. Tuesday at Callaway-Jones Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Tim Skaggs, associate pastor for Central Baptist Church in Bryan, will officiate. Burial will be in Willow Hole Cemetery in Madison County.

Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Taylor died Sunday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Grimes County and was a lifelong resident of Grimes, Robertson and Brazos Counties. She was a member of Northview Baptist Church in Bryan and was a retired seamstress and did alterations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oran Taylor.

Survivors include a son, Hank Taylor of Bryan; a daughter and son-in-law, Ona and Joe J. Pridgeon of Bryan; a brother, Ray Hamilton of Addison, Ala.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Benjamin Cholseth Wormeli
Sept. 10, 1905 — Nov. 19, 2000

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Services for Benjamin Cholseth Wormeli, 95, formerly of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Willerup Methodist Church in Cambridge, Wis.

Mr. Wormeli died Sunday at the Idaho Falls Care Center in Idaho Falls.

He was born in Stoughton, Wis. He attended elementary school and high school in Cambridge and received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Wisconsin. He was employed by Swift and Company from 1933 to 1954. In 1954 he moved to Bryan, where he was employed at Texas A&M University in the Extension Service. After retirement from A&M in 1972, Wormeli was employed by the Civil Defense. He was a member of A&M United Methodist Church in College Station.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Katherine Breckey.

Survivors include his daughters, Martha Piper of Idaho Falls and Susan Nartker of Las Vegas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to A&M Methodist Church, College Station, Texas 77840.

Dimmie Edward Johnson
June 3, 1928 — Nov. 20, 2000

NORTH ZULCH — Services for Dimmie Edward Johnson, 72, of North Zulch are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Willowhole Chapel. Burial will be at Willowhole Cemetery. Brother Dale Evans will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday to noon at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson died Monday at St. Joseph Rehabilitation Center in Bryan.

He was born in Madison County. He was a master plumber. He had been a merchant marine.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Johnson of North Zulch; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Dimmie Edward and Mary Johnson of North Zulch, Phillip Martin Johnson of Pearland, Texas, John Ward of Las Vegas; three daughters, Lynn and Connie Johnson, both of Houston, and Flora Jeanne Walder of Eugene, Ore.; three step-daughters, Vicki Lynn Chmelar of Caldwell, Brenda Andrews and Brenda Lee Story, both of North Zulch; three sisters, Mary Logan and Jo Moore, both of Alto, Texas, Lois Henley of Houston; one brother, Willard Lawson of Alto; 15 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Elwood Franklin Jones
Jan. 4, 1922 — Nov. 21, 2000

BRENHAM — Services for Elwood Franklin Jones, 78, of Brenham are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Mike Habermehl will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. Thursday and family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Jones died Tuesday at his home.

He was born in Fort Scott, Kan. He attended Frazier High School in Colorado and a junior college in Corpus Christi. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Jones was an area quality inspector for Southwestern Bell. He was a member of Graham Lodge 20 AF & AM of Brenham, a member of the Pioneer Club, and the Scottish Rite, and past master of the Fayette Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lee Carr Jones.

Survivors include his very special children, Santos and Virginia Benitez; two grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Smith and Evelina Shockley, both of Denver.

Tom (TD) Darling Clark
Feb. 8, 1928 — Nov. 21, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for Tom (TD) Darling Clark, 72, of Madisonville are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville. Lanier Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Madisonville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon Wednesday until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Clark died Tuesday at his home.

He was born in Madison County, Greer community.

He attended the Church of Christ. He served in the Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva Hall Clark.

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, J.T. “Jug” and Betty Clark of Madisonville; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Louise Davis of Houston, Robbie and Johnny Thompson of Houston, and Christine Bedinghaus of McAllen; and several nieces and nephews.

Joseph Pantalion Sr.
March 19, 1932 — Nov. 21, 2000

Services for Joseph Pantalion Sr., 68, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Cason-Monk Metcalf Funeral Home in Nacogdoches, Texas. The Rev. Michael Barone of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain Cemetery in Nacogdoches.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Mr. Pantalion died Tuesday at St. Joseph Skilled Nursing Unit.

He was born in Nacogdoches County. He was a heavy equipment operator in the construction business. He had served in the U.S. Army. He was a Catholic.

Survivors include his son, Joseph E. Pantalion II of Katy, Texas; a step-son, Travis Wilhow of Bryan; five step-daughters, Mary Jane Lackey of Austin, Kathy Nobles of Milano, Texas, Pamela Shafer of Katy, Debbie Tucker of College Station, Cindy Nichols of Wheelock, Texas; one brother, Mark Pantalion of Comstock, Wisc.; two sisters, Doris Gross of Bryan, Marie Lazarine of Diboll, Texas; a special friend, Pamela Pantalion Kybruz of Bryan; and numerous grandchildren.

Benjamin Franklin Delamater III
Jan. 7, 1916 — Nov. 19, 2000

Services for Benjamin Franklin Delamater III, 84, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in College Station.

The Rev. Benjamin Aurand of St. Thomas Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will be in College Station City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station.

Mr. Delamater died Sunday in College Station Medical Center.

He was born in Galveston, Texas, and had lived in College Station since 1970. He attended Texas A&M College and was appointed to West Point military Academy and graduated in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army and retired in 1970, after serving in Europe and the Pacific during World War II, the Korean War as a battalion commander and in Vietnam as the Executive Officer of the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He retired as garrison commander and Inspector General at Fort Bragg, N.C., and received numerous decorations, including the Silver Star for bravery.

After his 30 years in the military, he taught Government, Free Enterprise and U.S. History at A&M Consolidated High School for 14 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the 12th Man and Former Students Association at Texas A&M, was a former member of the Ross Volunteers, was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity, S.C.O.R.E., the Arabian Horse Club and had served as president of the Retired Officers Association. He was also a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where he was a member of the men’s Breakfast Group.

Survivors include his wife, Anna V. Delamater of College Station; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Benjamin F. IV and Elizabeth Delamater of Pflugerville, Texas, John G. Delamater of College Station and Thomas A. Delamater of Caldwell; a sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and James Keller of Hilton Head, S.C.; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church in College Station.

Jerry Shelton Jr.
Aug. 7, 1928 — Nov. 21, 2000

Graveside services for Jerry Shelton Jr., 72, of Cameron are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Plainview Cemetery in Normangee.

The Rev. Henry Stovall of Trinity Baptist Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Shelton died Tuesday in Central Texas Hospital in Cameron.

He was born in Normangee and was a lifelong resident of the Brazos Valley. He was the owner of the Ol’ Texas Bar-B-Q in Cameron. He served 13 years in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post 4692 in Bryan and a life member of the VFW National Home in Eaton Rapids, Mich. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Shelton of Cameron; five sons, Jerry Shelton and David Shelton, both of Fort Worth, Jimmy Shelton and Danny Shelton, both of California, and W.T. Shelton of Cameron; five daughters, Debbie Erwin of Lufkin, Texas, Laura Randhawa of Houston, Tammie Martinez of Bryan, Tina Wiese of Arizona and Terri Johnston of Killeen, Texas; a sister, Doris Saunders of College Station; and 22 grandchildren.

Virgil W. ‘Bill’ Bates
Nov. 23, 1915 — Nov. 20, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for Virgil W. “Bill” Bates, 84, of Conroe, Texas, are set for 11 a.m. Friday at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville.

The Rev. Jerry Hollman of Clear Point Church in Pasadena, Texas, will officiate. Burial will be in Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bates died Monday in Baytown, Texas.

He was born in Madison County and had lived in Conroe for 25 years. He was a former resident of Madisonville and worked as a crane operator in the construction business. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Ella Bates.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jimmie and Jean Bates of Deer Park, Texas, and Richard Bates of Amarillo, Texas; a daughter, Shirley Murdock of Conroe; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
