Services for Nancy Ortiz, 5, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Santa Teresa Catholic Church in Bryan.

Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Nancy died Monday in Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.

She was a student at Carver Elementary School and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. She was a member of Santa Teresa Catholic Church.

Survivors include her parents, Ruffo and Cecelia Ortiz of Bryan; a brother, Mario Ortiz of Bryan; two sisters, Blanca Estella Ortiz and Betty Ortiz, both of Bryan; her grandparents, Jose Ortiz, Maria Cavaleta, and Felipe and Guadalupe Maya, all of Mexico; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Stella Mae Werny
June 25, 1908 — Nov. 27, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Stella Mae Werny, 92, of Caldwell are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Caldwell.

The Rev. Steve Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Mrs. Werny died Monday at her home.

She was born in Somerville and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school and served on the refreshment committee for Vacation Bible school.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Werny Sr.; a son, George Werny Jr.; and two daughters, Glenda McIver and Ozue Clements.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Butch Kreusel of St. Hedwig, Texas, and Nancy and Donnie Urbanovsky of Manor, Texas; three sisters, Idonia Wilcox of Euless, Texas, Bessie Trahan of Westwego, La., and Thelma Widner of Thorndale; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Brenda Faye Anderson
July 7, 1957 — Nov. 24, 2000

Services for Brenda Faye Anderson, 43, of Bryan are set for 1 p.m. Friday at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. L.H. McShane of Goodwill Baptist Church in Dime Box will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mrs. Anderson died Friday at her home.

She was a lifelong resident of Bryan and was employed by the College Station Library. She was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Terrick Keith Fields of Bryan; a brother, James Davis of Bryan; eight step-brothers, Vernon Pittman of Snyder, Texas, Tim Pittman, Lonnie Davis and Ray Davis, all of Bryan, Wayne Pittman of Temple, Alonzo Davis, Robert Davis and Tyrone Davis, all of Houston; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Diane Sanders and Bernard Jones, Shirley and Ronald Foley and Lorine Davis Johnson, all of Bryan, and Mae Francis Davis and Milroy Love Sr. of Caldwell; two step-sisters, Linda Davis of Bryan and Brenda Davis of Houston; and her grandmother, Margie Donovan of Bryan.
Memorials may be made to New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Danny Neal Williams
July 6, 1953 — Nov. 28, 2000

Services for Danny Neal Williams, 47, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Callaway-Jones Chapel in Bryan.

Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Williams died Tuesday in College Station Medical Center.

He was born in Excelsior Springs, Mo., and had lived in Bryan for two and a half years. He served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant assigned to HHC 420th Engineer Brigade at the Moore Memorial Reserve in Bryan and was a veteran of the Vietname War.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis S. Williams of Bryan; a son, Colby Williams of Bryan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jessica G. Williams of Bryan and Carrie Marie and Marcus Chapman of Salsbury, Md.; a brother, Dennis Williams of Kansas City, Mo.; his mother, Ozella Daiprai of Edwards, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Frances V. Barber
Sept. 5, 1907 — Nov. 28, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Frances V. Barber, 93, of Rockdale are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell.

The Rev. Henry Beseda, retired from the Brethren Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Eutaw Cemetery in Kosse, Texas.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Barber died Tuesday in Rockdale.

She was born in Springdale, Tenn., and was a retired homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Allen Barber.

Survivors include five sons, Thomas “Gene” Barber of Caldwell, Hershel C. Barber of San Antonio, Aubrey L. Barber of New Cumberland, Pa., Royce Barber and Harold Barber, both of Rockdale; four daughters, Thelma Adams, Joyce Greensage and Mary Spitzenberger, all of Rockdale, and Mae Beth Young of Hearne; a sister, Elizabeth Young of Kosse; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Modene Botter
May 2, 1920 — Nov. 28, 2000

Services for Modene Botter, 80, of Huntsville, Texas, are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Bob Richers of the First United Methodist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in Rest-Ever Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Botter died Tuesday in Houston.

She was born in Dallas and had lived in Bryan for over 40 years before moving to Huntsville. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bryan, where she was in the Neighborly Sunday school class. She was retired after 23 years with the Public Health Services Department of the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.J. Botter Jr.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Janis and Thomas F. Childers of Huntsville and Peggy and Don Douglas of Littleton, Colo.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph B. and Louise Thompson of Texas City, Texas; a sister, Hazel Shankles of Gentry, Ark.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Timoteo Canales
Aug. 3, 1933 — Nov. 27, 2000

Services for Timoteo Canales, 67, of Ringgold, Ga., are set for 3 p.m. Thursday in Ringgold.

Mr. Canales died Monday in Ringgold.

He was born in La Feria, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Canales of Ringgold; four sons, Tim Canales Jr., Manuel Ruben Canales, Isreal Canales and Rudolph Canales, all of Ringgold; five daughters, Rita Alvarez of Bryan, Diana Garcia of Carterville, Ga., Gloria Perez of Atlanta, Ga., Margaret Burnecke of LaFayette, Ga., and Maria Stephens of Ringgold; a brother, Rev. Ruben Canales of Bryan; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

James C. ‘Jimmy’ McFarland
Feb. 6, 1935 — Nov. 29, 2000

SOMERVILLE — Services for James C. “Jimmy” McFarland, 65, of Burleson County are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Somerville.

The Rev. Oren McMannus will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. McFarland died Wednesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

He was born in Lyons and was a lifelong resident of Burleson County. He was farmer and rancher and served on the Somerville I.S.D. Board of Trustees from 1976 through 1988. He served on the Board of Directors of Oaklawn Cemetery Association, was a member of the VFW and of the Marion Mays American Legion Post No. 455 in Somerville and served as Justice of the Peace of Precinct No. 4 in Burleson County from 1966 to 1970 and again from 1993 to the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Florene McFarland of Somerville; a daughter and son-in-law, Gena and Dwayne Parsons of Bryan; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation or to the American Heart Association.

Hazel E. Thomas Rand
Jan. 25, 1916 — Nov. 28, 2000

JEWETT — Services for Hazel E. Thomas Rand, 84, of Jewett are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Ricks Funeral Home in Jewett.

The Rev. Barron Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Little Flock Cemetery on FM 1512.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rand died Tuesday in Kingwood, Texas.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jewett and had been a resident of Shepherd, Texas, and Jewett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Rand.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe Max and Shirley Rand of Shepherd and Jimmie Wayne and Carol Rand of Sweeney, Texas; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Doug and Jeanette Thomas and John and JoyNel Thomas, all of Jewett, and Troy and Dean Thomas of Yoakum, Texas; a sister, Verue Muirheid of Jewett; two sisters-in-law, Aggripa Thomas of Mexia, Texas, and Onita Rand of Houston; two brothers-in-law, Glenn Killingsworth of Groesbeck, Texas, and Elgie Aman of Fairfield, Ill.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Thomas G. Rockett Sr.
July 31, 1924 — Nov. 29, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Thomas G. Rockett Sr., 76, of Caldwell are set for 1:30 p.m. Friday at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell.

The Rev. Steve Stigler of the First United Methodist Church in Caldwell will officiate. Burial will be in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Rockett died Wednesday in Caldwell.

He was born in Burleson County and was a lifelong resident of Caldwell. He was a retired educator and taught vocational agriculture in Bastrop I.S.D. and Caldwell I.S.D. and served as Superintendent of Burleson County Schools. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Caldwell, was a former member of the Caldwell I.S.D. School Board and the Burleson County Appraisal Board. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of VFW Post No. 458.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Rockett of Caldwell; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Jr. and Tedi Rockett and Alan and Joan Rockett, all of Caldwell, and Bob and Cathy Rockett of Fort Worth; a sister, Martha Connor of Columbus, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to a charity of choice.

Danny Neal Williams
