Dec. 31, 1912 — Nov. 29, 2000

Memorial services for Emiline E. Weber Weber, 87, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in College Station.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Ms. Weber died Wednesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Jackson, Miss., and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Madison, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Crisler Ellis Weber.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Weber Coleman of Bryan; a brother, George I. Weber of Sevierville, Tenn.; a sister, Jamelia Weber David of Madison; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorials may be made to the John and Cathe Hayes Scholarship Fund c/o Bank of Navasota, P.O. Box 491, Navasota, Texas 77868 or St. Mary’s Catholic Church in College Station Student Center.

Ruth Edwards
Oct. 23, 1917 — Nov. 30, 2000

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Ruth Edwards, 83, of Houston are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mrs. Edwards died Thursday in the Garden Villas Nursing Home in Houston.

She was born in New Jersey and had lived in Houston for three years. She formerly lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a clinic supervisor for Coney Island Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Moe Edwards.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Sheila Edwards of Missouri City, Texas, and Kenneth and Arleen Edwards of Sugar Land, Texas; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Anna Gorte Doumont
June 12, 1912 — December 2, 2000

Anna Gorte Doumont, age 88, of College Station passed away Saturday evening in Bryan. She was born in Sheboygen, Wisconsin, to John and Sophia Gorte. Ms. Doumont was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Ms. Doumont’s wishes were granted, as her body was donated to medical science. A private family Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen Joy and Robert Gerke of Olympia, Washington, and Judith Ann and Clark Adams of College Station; three sisters, Do Mitchell of Frisco, Texas, Gert Gorte of Chicago, Illinois, and Honey Kafitz of Chicago, Illinois; three grandchildren, Clark Alan Adams of College Station, Kristen Kathleen and Jimmy Shelby of Austin, Texas, and Stephen Adams of College Station; three great-grandchildren, Lauran Amanda Adams of Katy, Texas, Emily Ann Adams of Katy, Texas, and Chloe Noel Shelby of Austin, Texas; and a close relation, Amy Adams of Katy, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 205 E. 29th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803.

Mark Hiatt
Aug. 30, 1963 — Dec. 2, 2000

Services for Mark Hiatt, 37, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Tim Owens of First Baptist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bremond.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Wednesday at the church.

Mr. Hiatt died Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Houston and had lived in Bryan for five years. He was employed as a law enforcement officer for the city of Bryan Police Department. He previously was a resident of Franklin, where he was a member of the AF & AM Patrick No. 359. He was a member of the Bryan Police Officer Association and the Texas Narcotics Officers Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bryan, where he was with the Estonia-Germany Missionary Group and taught fourth-grade Sunday school. He was also a member of the Sam Houston Elementary P.T.O.

Survivors include his wife, Jerri Hiatt of Bryan; a son, Forrest Hiatt of Bryan; a daughter, Kati Hiatt of Bryan; his mother, Martha Hiatt of Hearne; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Durst of Ottumwa, Iowa; five brothers-in-law, Jim Durst of Eddyville, Iowa, Kenny Durst of Keota, Iowa, Dan Durst of Davenport, Iowa, Don Durst of Burlington, Iowa, and Ron Durst of Ottumwa; a sister and brother-in-law, Tracy and Tim Vaughn of Hearne; two sisters-in-law, Marty Der Stegh of Ottumwa and Alice Cash of Amarillo; 51 nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Bryan Building Fund or to a trust fund for Mr. Hiatt’s children established with First American Bank.

Edward Hines
Sept. 13, 1912 — Dec. 2, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for Edward Hines, 88, of North Zulch are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hines died Saturday at his home.

He was born and lived most of his life in Madison County. He was a farmer and rancher and attended the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Midgett; a son, James; and a daughter, Mildred.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Doyle and Rita Pearl Hines of Gonzales, Texas, and Marvin and Sherry Hines of Nolanville, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Mike Sonntag of Sheridan, Texas; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Virginia Hughes
Feb. 5, 1918 — Dec. 2, 2000

FRANKLIN — Services for Virginia Hughes, 82, of Franklin are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin.

The Rev. Carl Whitworth of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hughes died Saturday in Bryan.

She was born in Robertson County and was a lifelong resident of Franklin. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Survivors include five daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Zane Newsom of Mesquite, Texas, Linda and Robert Walker of Van, Texas, Lucille and Scott Manning of Garland, Texas, Mary and Jerry Goff of Sherman, Texas, and Peggy and Joey Micklewitz of Franklin; two sisters, Sue Niemann of Franklin and Ruth Wallace of Hilltop Lakes; four sisters-in-law, Gladys Godley of Port Neches, Texas, Katie Burkett of Houston, Lillian Ferguson and Coy Hughes, both of Franklin; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Laura Elizabeth ‘Lollie’ Garvin Penberthy
April 3, 1911 — Nov. 25, 2000

Memorial services for Laura Elizabeth “Lollie” Garvin Penberthy, 89, of Bryan are set for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Bible Church in College Station.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station.
Mrs. Penberthy died Nov. 25.

She was born in Navasota and was a member of Grace Bible Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Penberthy Sr.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Walter L. Jr. and Saranne Penberthy of Houston; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jean Wilson of Midlothian, Va., and Beth and Ron Parker of Fairfax, Va.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Bible Church or Still Creek Boys Ranch in Bryan.

Wayne Pitcock
Sept. 13, 1926 — Dec. 2, 2000

ABILENE — Graveside services for Wayne Pitcock, 74, of Abilene are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Oddfellows Cemetery in Abilene.

Ray Ellis will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at North’s Funeral Home in Abilene.

Mr. Pitcock died Saturday in an Abilene hospital.

He was raised in Hamlin, Texas, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired in 1987 after 22 years as a building inspector for Tippett & Gee Co. and 12 years working for the Rose Construction Co. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Holt.

Survivors include his wife, Bette June Pitcock of Abilene; two sons, Dennis Holt of Abilene and Randall Pitcock of College Station; two daughters, Rhonda Lawson of Jourdonton, Texas, and Lisa Cathey of Dripping Springs, Texas; a brother, Milton Pitcock of Burleson, Texas; a sister, Thelma Henry of Mesquite, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mary C. Wilganowski
May 10, 1910 — Dec. 2, 2000

BREMOND — Services for Mary C. Wilganowski, 90, of Bremond are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremond

The Rev. Celso Yu of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at Bremond Funeral Home in Bremond.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wilganowski died Saturday in Falls Community Hospital in Marlin, Texas.
She was a lifelong resident of Bremond and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the St. Mary’s Rosary Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Wilganowski; and twin infant sons.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Floyd and Agnes Wilganowski and Ernest and Dorothy Wilganowski, all of Bremond, and Alvin and Janis Wilganowski of Rockdale; a daughter, Bernadine Kitchen of Grand Prairie, Texas; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Annie H. Abel
Jan. 6, 1901 — Dec. 4, 2000

ROCKDALE — Services for Annie H. Abel, 99, of Sharp, are set for 10 a.m.
Wednesday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

The Rev. Brian Bauer of Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Abel died Monday in the Winnie L. Nursing Center in Cameron.

She was born in the Bushdale community and had lived in Sharp since 1928. She was a homemaker and a seamstress and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Frank Abel.

Survivors include a son, Henry W. Abel of Sharp; a daughter, Viola Niemtschk of Thorndale; a brother, Carl Henry Von Gonten of Buckholts; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

William Findley Brewster
June 4, 1967 — Dec. 3, 2000

SAN ANTONIO — Services for William Findley Brewster, 33, of San Antonio are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Randolph Air Force Base Chapel No. 1 in San Antonio.
Burial will be in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Porter Loring Mortuary North in San Antonio.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Brewster died Sunday.

He was born in Camp Hill, Pa., and graduated from Bryan High School in 1985. He attended Tarleton State University and was honorably discharge from the U.S. Air Force with a medical retirement. He was an air traffic controller stationed at Lakin Heath AFB in England.

Survivors include his parents, retired Col. Olin Findley and Anne Brewster of San Antonio; a daughter, Maegan Elizabeth Brewster of Amarillo; and a brother and sister-in-law, Michael C. and Susan Brewster of Hutchinson, Kan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Therapy & Research Center, Attn: Donor Relations, P.O. Box 1657, San Antonio, Texas 78296-1657.
