BRENHAM —Services for Selma Kemper Schultz, 89, of Brenham are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church of Salem with Rev. Bill Derrick and Rev. Charles Treptow officiating. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery of Welcome, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with the family present at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mrs. Schultz died Tuesday at Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham.

She was born in Salem, Washington County. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church of Salem. She attended Salem Public School in the Salem community. Mrs. Schultz was a homemaker.

Survivors include her a sister-in-law, Hildagard Kemper of Bellville.

Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church of Salem or Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome.

Donna Rhea Carter
Sept. 27, 1936 — Dec. 11, 2000

HULL, Texas — Services for Donna Rhea Carter, 64, of Hull are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. The Rev. Jeff Snodgrass will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to service time on Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carter died Monday at Memorial City Hospital in Houston.

She was born in Adona, Ark. She had been a member of the United Methodist Church in Batson, Texas, and was a retired rural route carrier with the U.S. Postal Service after 18 years of service.

Survivors include her husband, James A. Carter of Hull; a son, Shayne Carter of Dayton, Texas; a daughter, Rebecca J. Carter of College Station; four brothers, Bob Sharp of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Sammy Sharp of Crossett, Ark., Harold Sharp of Bastrop, La., Bruce Sharp of Crossett, Ark.; two sisters, Corine Hurst of Katy, Texas, Sharon DeVoge of Arcola, Texas; and one grandson.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Clarence Wilson
June 7, 1936 — Dec. 11, 2000

ROCKDALE — Services for Clarence Wilson, 64, of Rockdale are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will be in the Gause Cemetery. The Rev. Calvin Springer and the Rev. Bob Hendrick will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilson died Monday at the Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.

He was born in Gause. He was a tree trimmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Lou Wilson.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Michelle Wilson of Dallas; a brother, Herbert Wilson of Rockdale; two sisters, Doris Setzer of Grapevine, Texas, and Jane Inez Beran of Rockdale; and two grandchildren.

Lorenzo (Charles) Vasquez Jr.
Nov. 29, 1953 — Dec. 12, 2000

WELCOME — Graveside services for Lorenzo (Charles) Vasquez Jr., 47, of Welcome are set for 1 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Calvary Cemetery near Yegua Creek Park on F.M. 1948. The Rev. Victor G. Robles will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home of Somerville.

Mr. Vasquez died Tuesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

He was born in Somerville and attended school there. He was a deputy with Washington County Sheriff’s office for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Vasquez of Welcome; two sons, Lorenzo Vasquez of Welcome and David Wayne Vasquez of Brenham; two sisters, Lucy Ureste of Somerville and Simona Selio of Houston; four brothers, Johnny M. Vasquez of Houston, Angel Vasquez of Brenham, Joe Vasquez of Houston, Domingo Vasquez of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Felix Anthony ‘Tony’ Caballero
Dec. 28, 1947 — Dec. 11, 2000

Services for Felix Anthony “Tony” Caballero, 52, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. The Rev. Tommy Garza will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Caballero died Monday at the V.A. Hospital in Temple, Texas.

He was born in Houston. He was self-employed as a paint and body repairman. He was a member of the VFW Local 4692 in Bryan.

Survivors include his wife, Angelina “Angie” Cabellero of Bryan; his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Maria Cabellero of Bryan; two daughters, Janis Cabellero and Melanie Caballero, both of Bryan; his mother, Frances Caballero of Bryan; and six grandchildren.

Lucy Field King
Sept. 15, 1913 — Dec. 12, 2000

IRVINGTON, VA. — A memorial service for Lucy Field King, 87, of Irvington will be at Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock, Va., at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home in Gloucester, Va.

Mrs. King died Tuesday in Virginia.

She was born in Calvert. She was a descendant of several Texas pioneer families. She attended Sophie Newcomb College and graduated from the University of Texas. Mrs. King was a member of Ware Episcopal Church in Gloucester and Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock. She was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Garden Club of Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald S. King.

Survivors include one nephew, W.T.McDonald Jr. and his wife, Caroline, of Bryan; a niece, Lucy McDonald Harris of Dallas; and three great nephews.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Amos Boyd Culbreth
Dec. 22, 1925 — Dec. 12, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for Amos B. Culbreth, 74, of Madisonville are set for 1 p.m. Friday at the J.M. Day Chapel in Madisonville. Glen Howe will officiate. Burial will be in the Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Culbreth died Tuesday at a San Marcos hospital.

He was born in Madisonville. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the Masonic Lodge #740. He served in the Air Force and Navy.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Culbreth.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Dorothy Culbreth of Bryan, and Ted and Angela Culbreth of New Braunfels, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, April and Reagan Brooks of Martindale, Texas; one sister, Mary Mathis of Madisonville; one brother and sister-in-law, Truman and Maurine Culbreth of Houston; four sisters-in-law, Winnie Culbreth of Pasadena, Texas, Zuella Culbreth of Bryan, Jessie Culbreth of Madisonville, Edna Culbreth of Madisonville; and six grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Melba M. Shoemake
Sept. 29, 1931 — Dec. 12, 2000

NEW AUGUSTA, Miss. — Services for Melba M. Shoemake, 69, of New Augusta are set for 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of New Augusta.

Burial will be in Howard Cemetery in New Augusta.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, Miss.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Northview Baptist Church in Bryan.

Mrs. Shoemake died Tuesday at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

She was born in Madisonville. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Augusta.

Survivors include her husband, Warren (Buddy) Shoemake of New Augusta; one son, Jim Tessmann of Waco; two stepsons, Walter and Eric Shoemake of Houston; and a daughter, Brenda Branch of Waco; and five grandchildren.

Michael Ray Geick
Jan. 6, 1953 — Dec. 12, 2000

Services for Michael Ray Geick, 47, of College Station are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Bible Church. The Rev. Brad Evans of Grace Bible Church will officiate. Burial will be in College Station Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.

Mr. Geick died Tuesday at College Station Medical Center.

He was born in Sealy, Texas. He was the owner and operator of Area Wide Mechanical, Inc. He attended A&M Consolidated High School and graduated from Waco Tech TSTI. He attended Grace Bible Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Geick of College Station; two daughters, Carissa and Jamie Geick, both of College Station; a stepson, Arlon Garner of Brenham; his mother and stepfather, Ruth and Wayne Corley of Bryan; and numerous other relatives.

Edward W. Douglas Jr.
Aug. 19, 1930 — Dec. 8, 2000

DALLAS — Services for Edward W. Douglas Jr., 70, of Dallas are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Ruby’s Chapel at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan. The Rev. Larry T. Hall of Shiloh Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Douglas died Dec. 8.

He was born in Bryan and was retired from Brown-Forman Distiller Co. He attended Bryan public schools and City College in San Francisco. He was a member of Third Baptist Church in San Francisco.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia P. Douglas of Dallas; his son, Edward W. Douglas, III of Dallas; his daughter, Valerie P. Douglas of Dallas; his brother, Henry Douglas of Oakland, Calif.; two sisters, Marion Bradley of Las Vegas, and Gloria Hunter of San Francisco; his mother, Willie Mae Douglas of San Francisco; and one grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the North Bryan Community Center.

Warren David Johnson
Oct. 18, 1955 — Dec. 9, 2000

CONROE, Texas — Services for Warren David Johnson, 45, of Conroe are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville. The Rev. Elmer Phillips of Ebenezer Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Burton Cemetery in south Leon County.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until time of service on Saturday.

Mr. Johnson died Saturday at his home in Conroe.

He was born in Centerville, graduated from Centerville High School and attended technical school in Waco. He was a dental lab technician. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Centerville and had been a junior deacon when he was a youth.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Daisy M. Johnson of Centerville; a daughter, Keisha Polk of Dallas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry Joe and Patricia Johnson of Shreveport, La., and Frederick “Ricky” and Irma Shaw of Houston; a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Woodrow Thompson of DeSoto, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Herbert Johnson
Feb. 14, 1947 — Dec. 9, 2000

DOBBIN, Texas — Services for Herbert Johnson, 53, of Dobbin are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Yarborough Chapel United Methodist Church in Anderson. The Rev. Hopie Solomon will officiate. Burial will be in Pineywood Cemetery in Anderson.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mr. Johnson died Saturday at Hermann Hospital.

He was born in Houston. He was a landscaper.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Johnson of Dobbin; his son, Dwight Johnson of Katy, Texas; four daughters, Faye Renee Rusk, Deborah Berry and Kesha Johnson, all of Houston, and Daphene Laverne Johnson of Dobbin; three sisters, Maxine Johnson, Peggy Lane and Carolyn Miles, all of Houston; his parents, Herbert and Doretha Johnson of Dobbin; and five grandchildren.

Jessie Lee Woods Day
Dec. 27, 1909 — Dec. 10, 2000

MILLICAN — Services for Jessie Lee Woods Day, 90, of Millican are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Brosig School Auditorium in Navasota. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery in Millican.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mrs. Day died Sunday at her home in Millican.

She was born in Ellis County, Texas. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Christian Home Workers Association and Community Love Society. She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Moreecy Day Sr.

Survivors include six sons and three daughters-in-law, Wilfred and Pearline Day of Millican, Bailey and Mary Day of Navasota, Johnnie and Wilma Day of Houston, Robert Day of Houston and Moreecy Day Jr. and James Day, both of Millican; one daughter, Gloria Maxfield of Houston; two sisters, Willie B. Ross of Houston and Ruby Griffin of Bryan; 32 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
