Tennie Holtsclaw
June 23, 1917 — Dec. 28, 2000

HEARNE — Services for Tennie Holtsclaw, 83, of Hearne are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Holtsclaw died Thursday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Maysfield, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Hearne. She was a homemaker and was a Baptist. She was an Avon representative in Hearne and the surrounding areas for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everet Holtsclaw.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Sylvia Holtsclaw of Katy, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary E. and Darryl C. Herrington of Houston; two sisters, Mary Stanitzky of College Station and Jimmie Dotson of Hearne; and four grandchildren.

Dolores Jeane Jones
March 17, 1932 — Dec. 27, 2000

Memorial services for Dolores Jeane Jones, 68, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Central Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Chris Osborne of Central Baptist Church will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Mrs. Jones died Wednesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Amarillo, and had lived in Bryan since 1953. She was a retired registered nurse and attended Sparks Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Smith, Ark. She was a member of the Brazos Blue Bonnet Quilt Guild and taught quilting with the Discovery International Students’ Wives. She was a member of the National Rifle Association and was also a member of Central Baptist Church, where she taught the senior ladies Sunday school class.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Floyd M. Jones of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Lt. Col. Stephen and Laurie Jones of San Antonio; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Lindley of Bryan; a brother, Malcolm Murray of Maryneal, Texas; a sister, Bettye Jo Musser of Abington, Md.; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund.

Frieda S. Kinkler
Sept. 24, 1910 — Dec. 28, 2000

Graveside services for Frieda S. Kinkler, 90, of Bryan are set for 3 p.m. Friday at the Lubbock City Cemetery in Lubbock.

The Rev. Jay Beyer will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Kinkler died Thursday in Sherwood Nursing Home.

She was born in Hanover, Germany, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Beaumont, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Armour Kinkler.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Vera and James Martin III of Bryan; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Littie Palmer
Oct. 22, 1911 — Dec. 23, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Littie Palmer, 89, of Navasota are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Center Point Baptist Church in Plantersville.

The Rev. Wilbert H. Sargent Sr. of High Point Baptist Church in Stoneham will officiate. Burial will be in Center Point Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mrs. Palmer died Saturday at her home.

She was born in Grimes County and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Christian Home Workers and was a member of Center Point Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Clifford James Palmer, Eddie Douglas Palmer and Charles Bundage, all of Houston, and John Robert Palmer of Stoneham; four daughters, Verna Philan of Seattle, Ella Santee, Eula Mike and Ruby Shepard, all of Houston; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Robert James Smith
March 21, 1946 — Dec. 27, 2000

Services for Robert James Smith, 54, of Madison County are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Chapel Methodist Church in Madisonville.

The Rev. O.L. Leveston of the Freedom Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in West End Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Peoples Mortuary in Bryan.

Mr. Smith died Wednesday in Madison County.

He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and was a ranch hand. He was a member of Sweet Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Retha Mae Smith of Texas City, Texas; a son, James A. Smith of Texas City; a daughter, Shawna Smith of Houston; a sister, Ethel Fae Smith of Madisonville; his mother, Zelma Smith of Madisonville and two grandchildren.

Evelyn Lavinia Stoneham
April 20, 1902 — Dec. 26, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Evelyn Lavinia Stoneham, 98, of Stoneham are set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home in Navasota.

The Rev. Roger Goldsmith of the Stoneham Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Stoneham Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.

Miss Stoneham died Tuesday at her home.

She was a lifelong resident of Stoneham and was retired after 47 years of teaching. She graduated from Sam Houston State Teachers College and was a charter member of the Classroom Teachers Association and the Parent-Teacher Association of Navasota. She was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Scottish Heritage of Houston and Young Life. She was also a member of Stoneham Methodist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Lucile Stoneham of Stoneham.

Lummie Powers
Oct. 6, 1910 — Dec. 27, 2000

Services for Lummie Powers, 90, of Henderson, Texas, and formerly of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Steep Hollow Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Revs. Lawrence Smith and Dale Suel will officiate. Burial will be in Steep Hollow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Powers died Wednesday in Henderson Memorial Hospital in Henderson.

He was a lifelong resident of Bryan before moving to Henderson three months ago. He was retired from the agricultural extension service and was a member of Steep Hollow Baptist Church. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Powers of Henderson; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Edna and Robert Kilmer of Livingston, Texas, Betty Gibson of Fort Worth and Jane and Wayne Lacey of Arp, Texas; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ina and Tom Browning and Maudell and Milton Greer, all of Bryan and Artie Barnett of Waco; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Joe Hart Bazy
Aug. 18, 1941 — Dec. 28, 2000

Services for Joe Hart Bazy, 59, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Monday at New Zion Baptist Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Fred Ford of New Zion Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mr. Bazy died Thursday at his home.

He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and was retired after 28 years with Fabric Care Cleaners. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietname War. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and sang in the choir.

Survivors include his wife, Alberta M. Bazy of Bryan; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Joe Bazy Jr. of Bryan, Lonnie James Monroe of Columbia, S.C., Raymond Carl and Margaret Monroe of Charleston, S.C., and Lucretia Monroe of Key West, Fla.; a brother, Elak Bazy of Bryan; three sisters, Ruby Mae Perry and Nancy Ann Bazy, both of Bryan, and Minnie L. Crayton of Austin; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Edward H. “Tim” Bosse
Dec. 24, 1914 — Dec. 28, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Edward H. “Tim” Bosse, 86, of Navasota are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Friedens Church of Washington, U.C.C. in Washington.

The Rev. Jesse Campbell of Friedens Church of Washington, U.C.C. will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.

Mr. Bosse died Thursday in Navasota.

He was born in Washington and was manager of the Brazos Valley Feed Store. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Friedens Church of Washington, U.C.C.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Bosse of Navasota; a sister, Ella Mae Borgstedte of Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Felix Gilbert
Feb. 2, 1920 — Dec. 28, 2000

NAVASOTA — Services for Felix Gilbert, 80, of Navasota are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Courtney, Texas.

The Rev. James M. Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in the Stonehamville Cemetery in Stoneham.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mr. Gilbert died Thursday at his home.

He was born in Okmulgee, Okla., and was retired from American Airlines as a senior mechanic. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where he was an elder, sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Gilbert of Navasota; a son, Leroy Gilbert of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Linda Hollinshed of Kansas City, Kan.; a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Lela Mae Gilbert of Los Angeles; and numerous grandchildren.

Elizabeth Inez Reese
June 4, 1918 — Dec. 27, 2000

KATY, Texas — Memorial services for Elizabeth Inez Reese, 82, of Katy were held Friday at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Katy.

The Rev. D. Nick Sholars officiated.

Ms. Reese died Wednesday in a Katy hospital.

She was born in Bryan and was a member of Westland Baptist Church in Katy. She was a surgical nurse in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked for many years at the Veterans Hospital in Temple, Texas. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Alice and George Rheman of Katy; a niece; a nephew; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 570127, Houston, Texas 77257.
