MIDWAY — Services for E. E. “Heck” Williams, 65, of Midway are set for 1:30 p.m. Friday at J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville. The Rev. Lon McVeigh will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Midway.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Williams died Tuesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

He was born in Madison County and was retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Survivors include his mother, Artie Williams of Midway; a son, Stevie J. Williams of Baytown; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Norma Williams of Midway; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Andy Anderson of Crosby, Texas; one grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.

Jean Cessna
Feb. 13, 1925 — Jan. 3, 2001

MARQUEZ — Services for Jean Cessna, 75, of Marquez are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Ricks Funeral Home Chapel in Jewett. The Rev. Barron Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Marquez Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to service time on Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cessna died Wednesday at Franklin Nursing Home.

She was born in Limestone County, Texas. She was a housewife and owned Cessna Sassy Salsa business. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Carol Cessna of Marquez; a daughter, Norma Jean Gibson of Bryan; a son, Glenn Earl Coats of Florida; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Ross Anthony Mistretta
June 29, 1921 — Jan. 3, 2001

MILANO —Services for Ross Anthony Mistretta, 79, of Milano are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin. The Rev. Clifford Barnett of Franklin will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Franklin.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Mistretta died Wednesday in Houston.He was born in Houston. He had retired from Murray Rubber Co. after 30 years of employment. He drove a school bus for the Milano School District for 10 years. Mr. Mistretta was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Milano.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethelda Faye, Mistretta.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Kenneth Stephenson of Spring; four sisters, Lucy Cunningham, Virginia Jamail, Pearl Tommasina and Antoinette Lockhart, all of Houston; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Demmer Almeta Ford
Oct. 25, 1906 — Jan. 2, 2001

DALLAS — Services for Demmer Almeta Ford, 94, of Dallas are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church of Bedias. The Rev. Freddie Shaw will officiate. Burial will be in Methodist Cemetery in Bedias.

The family will receive visitors at the church Saturday morning.

Arrangements are under the direction of J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville.

Mrs. Ford died Tuesday at her home in Dallas. She was born in Bedias. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Bedias and of the Heroines of Jericho.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Willie Ford.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Hester and Harold Smith of Dallas; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Rev. Emerson Houston Moore
July 30, 1926 — Jan. 2, 2001

MARLIN, Texas — Services for the Rev. Emerson Houston Moore, 74, of Marlin are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Beaty Funeral Home English Chapel in Mineola, Texas. The Rev. Jim Parker will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Hill Cemetery in Wood County.

Mr. Moore died Tuesday in Marlin.

He was born in Childress, Texas. He lived in Mineola for 20 years before moving to Marlin. He retired from the United States Army and was a Baptist minister. He served in the Pacific during World War II and during the Korean War and Vietname War.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ola Moore.

Survivors include his son, Gary Moore of Wellborn; two daughters, Rebecca Torres of Houston and Karen Hempel of Copperas Cove, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Nannie Mae Day
Jan. 21, 1914 — Jan. 3, 2001

ANGLETON, Texas — Services for Nannie Mae Day, 86, of Angleton, formerly of Bedias, are set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville. The Rev. Jerald Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Bedias Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Day died Wednesday at Cypress Wood Nursing Home in Angleton.

She was born in Iola.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Walter M. Day; one daughter, Malvinee Singletary; one grandson, George Singletary Jr.; and four sisters and seven brothers.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Willie R. and Barbara Day of Angleton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie R. and Lee Roy Jurries of Richwood, Texas, Hazel and Kelly R. Jackson of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Billie and Wilburn NeSmith of Angleton; a brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Mable Ward of Brazoria, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Sam Westbrook
July 7, 1914 — Dec. 30, 2000

HOUSTON — Services for Sam Westbrook, 86, of Houston are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bryan. The Rev. Clifton Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Tiver Cemetery in Bryan.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

A wake will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Westbrook died Saturday in Houston.

He was born in Benchley and was a retired construction worker. He attended E.A. Kemp High School and Prairie View A&M College. Mr. Westbrook was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Lovie Jewel Ellis of Bryan; a brother-in-law, Sherrell Burley of Houston; two sisters, Mabel E. Loughridge and Madelyn E. Burley, both of Houston; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Eva Mae Phillips
Aug. 7, 1927 — Dec. 31, 2000

MISSOURI CITY, Texas — Services for Eva Mae Phillips, 73, of Missouri City are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Ruby’s Chapel at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan. The Rev. Freddie Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Phillips died Sunday in Missouri City. She was born in Burleson County. She was retired.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy James of Missouri City; her stepson, Thomas Alexander of Missouri City; one brother, R.E. Hightower of Texas City; one nephew; and five grandchildren.

Ricardo Gomez

MADISONVILLE — Graveside services for Ricardo Gomez, 76, of Madisonville are set for a later date in the El Calvario Cemetery in Jerez, Zac., Mexico.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Madisonville Funeral Home.

Mr. Gomez died Wednesday in Houston.

He was born in Canoga Park, Westmore, Calif. He was a laborer in the agriculture business. He was a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Abelina Gomez Carrera of Madisonville; eight sons, Raul Gomez of Fresnillo, Zac., Mexico, Victor Gomez of Frenillo, Zac., Daniel Gomez of Huntsville, Cornelio Gomez of Jerez, Zac., Jose Gomez of Madisonville and Alejo Gomez, Anacleto Gomezand Ambrosio Gomez, all of Chicago; three daughters, Lenor Gomez of Jerez, Zac., and Maria Gomez and Flora Gomez, both of Chicago; two brothers, Enrique Gomez of Jerez, Zac., and Jose Maria Gomez of Los Angeles; one sister, Pancha Gomez of Jerez, Zac.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bessie Warren
Feb. 14, 1906 — Jan. 2, 2001

NAVASOTA —Services for Bessie Warren, 94, of Navasota are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Navasota. The Rev. W.R. Pennygraph Sr. of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Brenham will officiate. Burial will be in Dennis Bryant Cemetery in Navasota.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Warren died Tuesday at Grimes St. Joseph Health Center.

She was born in Grimes County and was a housewife. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Courtney.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Patricia Norman Lee of Navasota, and two great-grandchildren.

George T. Rogers
Oct. 18, 1918 — Jan. 1, 2001

NOCONA, Texas —Graveside services for George T. Rogers, 82, of Nocona, formerly of Burlington, are set for 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Clarkson Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mr. Rogers died Monday in a Nocona hospital.

He was born in Burlington and was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He then worked for Texas Instruments as a purchasing agent.

Survivors include his wife, Edythe Rogers of Nocona; his son, Gregory T. Rogers of Dallas; a daughter, Susan Edythe Cooper of Austin; his sister, Sue Mason of North Carolina; and three grandchildren.

John D. Baldobino
Jan. 31, 1959 — Jan. 4, 2001

NAVASOTA — Services for John D. Baldobino, 41, of Navasota are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Navasota.

The Rev. Paul Felix of Christ Our Light Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Courtney Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota and from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the church.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Mr. Baldobino died Thursday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Navasota and was a hot press operator for Longwood Elastomers Inc. in Brenham. He was a member of Christ Our Light Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Baldobino of Navasota; a son, Jeremy Baldobino of Navasota; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jessie Duran Baldobino, Gene Baldobino Jr., Roy Duran and Valarie Baldobino and Joe Duran and Amy Baldobino, all of Navasota; a sister, Beatrice Baldobino of Houston; his parents, Rosa Lee Baldobino of Navasota and Gene Baldobino Sr. of Houston; and numerous uncles, aunts and other relatives.

Ellen Darlene Burrell
Oct. 15, 1926 — Jan. 2, 2001

NAVASOTA — Services for Ellen Darlene Burrell, 74, of Millican are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Salem Baptist Church in Wellborn.

The Rev. James Mable of Missionary Camp Baptist Church in Navasota will officiate.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Navasota.

Mrs. Burrell died Tuesday in Grimes St. Joseph Health Center.

She was born in Smithville, Mo., and was a homemaker. She was a member of Missionary Camp Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Huron D. Burrell of Millican; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry and Winnie Burrell and Bobby Burrell, all of College Station; a sister and brother-in-law, Vergie and Robert Kelly of Plattsburg, Mo.; and two grandchildren.
