Annie Elizabeth Shockley
Sept. 13, 1929 — Jan. 28, 2001

FRANKLIN — Services for Annie Elizabeth Shockley, 71, of Kosse are set for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kosse Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Bald Prairie Cemetery in Robertson County.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.

Mrs. Shockley died Sunday in Mexia.

She was born in Limestone County and lived in Limestone and Robertson counties most of her life. She was retired from the Mexia State School, where she was employed as a dietitian for over 11 years. She was a member of the Kosse Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Shockley.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Donald McCreery of Kosse and Karen and Timmy Klawinsky of Navasota; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Libby Shockley of Kosse; two sisters, Doris Smith of Houston and Juanita Watts of Clute, Texas; a brother, B.J. Crowell of Angleton, Texas; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Willie Storemski
March 10, 1910 — Jan. 26, 2001

BREMOND — Services for Willie Storemski, 90, of the Reagan community in Falls County, Texas, are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremond.

The Revs. Celso Yu, David Leibham and Jozef Musiol will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Peiskee Funeral Home in Bremond.

Mrs. Storemski died Friday in Marlin.

She was born in Marlin and was a homemaker. She attended Wooten Wells schools and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Holy Rosary Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kie Storemski.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Alice Storemski of Reagan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Theresa Wisnoski of Houston and Louise and Roy Erwin of Reagan; a brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Natalie Snider of Willis, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Frank Knapik of Bremond; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Barbara M. Toler
May 13, 1929 — Jan. 25, 2001

Services for Barbara M. Toler, 71, formerly of the Bryan-College Station area, are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Bryan.

The Revs. Harral Dunnam and Bob Richers of the First United Methodist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in the College Station Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Toler died Thursday in San Antonio.

She was born in Nashville, Tenn., and was a long-time resident of Bryan and College Station before moving recently to San Antonio. She attended Arkansas A&M College and was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was also a member of Gamma Gamma Master Chapter and was affiliated with the UDC, L.S. Ross Chapter. She was a former Girl Scout leader and Meals on Wheels volunteer. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bryan and the Neighborly Sunday school class.

Survivors include her husband, Robert W. Toler of San Antonio; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Tina Toler of Dallas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Twyla and Dr. Edward Allen Benson of San Antonio, Tanya and Tom Boedeker of Kenai, Alaska, and Robin and Dale King of Kenna, W. Va.; three sisters, Maureen Wells of San Antonio, Helen Bladon and Evelyn Hart, both of Arkansas; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 506 East 28th St., Bryan, Texas 77803, VNA/Hospice of South Texas, 8721 Botts Street, San Antonio, Texas 78217 or to Hospice Brazos Valley.

Edell Evans Jr.
Oct. 8, 1923 — Jan. 25, 2001

NORMANGEE — Services for Edell Evans Jr., 77, of Normangee are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Zion Baptist Church in Normangee.

Bro. O.L. Livingston will officiate. Burial will be in Randalph Cemetery in Madison County.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.

Mr. Evans died Thursday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was a lifelong resident of Normangee and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked in maintenance at Hilltop Lakes. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bertheen Evans of Normangee; a son, William Evans of Kyle, Texas; three daughters and a son-in-law, Eva Mae and Samuel Jones of Dallas, Felefha Gail Evans of Leona and Gaynell Evans of Teague, Texas; a sister, Mae Della Cofield of McKinney; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Shelton Glenn Black

FARRAGUT, Tenn. — Services for Shelton Glenn Black, 69, of Farragut were held at 8 p.m. Monday at the Dixie Lee Baptist Church in Dixie Lee Junction, Tenn.

The Revs. Bruce Yates and James D. Clayton officiated. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Mexia Cemetery in Mexia, Texas, with the Rev. Don Coleman officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel in Farragut.

Mr. Black died Sunday in Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn.

He was a member of Dixie Lee Baptist Church and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M University. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant with the U.S. Army and was a regional sales representative for Con Agra and was a certified agronomist. He was a former employee of Basic Resources of Knoxville.

Survivors include his wife, Marie “Rie” Black; a daughter, Teresa Lynn Dicus of Victorville, Calif.; two sons, Doyle Glenn Black of Aurora, Colo., and Keith Layne Black of Humble, Texas; two brothers, Weldon Black of Mexia and Vannoy Black of Houston; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ulysses Kit Brown
June 27, 1918 — Jan. 26, 2001

MADISONVILLE — Services for Ulysses Kit Brown, 82, of Midway are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Little Rock Baptist Church in the Connor community.

The Rev. Danny Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery in Midway.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville.

He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 70 in Madisonville.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jack Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Davis Brown of Midway; a daughter-in-law, La Evelyn Brown of Midway; two sisters, Rose Naulse and Christine Johnson; a brother, Millard Brown; a granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Foy B. Hughes
Nov. 13, 1913 — Jan. 27, 2001

MADISONVILLE — Services for Foy B. Hughes, 87, of Iola are set for 4 p.m. Tuesday at the J.M. Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville.

The Rev. Scott Jones will officiate. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Weaver Cemetery in Weaver, Texas, with the Rev. Tom Friday officiating.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hughes died Saturday in a nursing home in Alvin, Texas.

He was born in Mt. Vernon, Texas, and served with the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II as a private in a tank battalion. He worked for Gray Tool Company as a service and salesman for 27 years and was a member of the Iola Missionary Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge in Bedias.

Survivors include his wife, Malvinee Hughes of Iola; a sister, Bennie May Beall of Lumberton, Miss.; two brothers, L.A. Hughes of Temple and Gaylon Payne of Pearland, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Marrian M. McLeod

KLEIN, Texas — Services for Marrian M. McLeod, 75, of Klein are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Klein Funeral Home in Klein.

The Rev. Ben Aurand will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. McLeod died Saturday.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Dale Kenneth G. McLeod; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Karl Strickland and Bethany and Jeff Jones; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Colin and Jan McLeod, Miles McLeod and Campbell and Julie McLeod; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lillian Bradstreet and Diane and Ken Gallow; and 11 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church Organ Fund, 906 George Bush Drive, College Station, Texas 77840.

Clarence Allen Merchant
Nov. 6, 1938 — Jan. 28, 2001

MADISONVILLE — Graveside services for Clarence Allen Merchant, 62, of New Caney, Texas, are set for 4 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Tabor Cemetery near Midway.

The Rev. Dean Ferguson will officiate.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville.

Mr. Merchant died Sunday at his home.

He was a plumber and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Brenda and Steve Heinsohn, Cindy and Kevin Seidel, Karen Bunner and Lisa and James Mitchell, all of New Braunfels, Texas; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Barbara Dunbar of Kingwood, Texas, Geraldine McNeil of Houston and Mary Hardy of New Caney; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard Willard ‘Dickie’ Olney Jr.

MADISONVILLE — Services for Richard Willard “Dickie” Olney Jr., 62, of North Zulch are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville.

Mr. Olney died at his home.

He was born in Baytown, Texas, and had lived in North Zulch since 1979. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Sandra Olney of Baytown; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Joe Castillo of North Zulch, Eileen and Thomas Repp of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Eunice and Andrew Gigout of Highlands, Texas.

Frances Louise Petteway
April 30, 1918 — Jan. 27, 2001

FRANKLIN — Services for Frances Louise Petteway, 82, of the Petteway community in Robertson County are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin.

Charles Renfroe and Clay Renfroe will officiate. Burial will be in the Petteway Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Petteway died Saturday at her home.

She was born in Camp Creek and was a lifelong resident of Robertson County. She was employed for over 30 years by the Robertson County school district. She was a member of the R.L.D.A. Restoration Branch in Hearne and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 311 in Franklin, serving as Worthy Matron in 1955 and 1956. She was also a member of the Robertson County Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Petteway.

Survivors include two sisters, Pauline Howell of Norwood, N.C., and Modell Tacy of Independence, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the cemetery association of choice or to Hospice Brazos Valley.

John Ripley
Jan. 9, 1908 — Jan. 28, 2001

CALDWELL — Services for John Ripley, 93, of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

The Rev. Don Laird will officiate. Burial will be in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.

Mr. Ripley died Sunday at Sherwood Health Care in Bryan.

He was a retired owner and operator of a shoe repair business in Caldwell.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Ripley of Caldwell; two daughters, Josephine Barnett of Conroe, Texas, and Lisa Ripley of Caldwell; a brother, Antonio Ripley of Houston; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
