Feb. 8, 1922 — Feb. 8, 2001

NORMANGEE — Services for Lucy M. Cobb, 79, of Marquez are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Flynn, Texas.

Bros. Ross Newton and Ray Grissett will officiate. Burial will be in Clear Creek Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.

Mrs. Cobb died Thursday at her home.

She was born in Marquez and was a retired homemaker. She was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Milton “Cup” Copeland and J.L. Cobb.

Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Ethel Brooks of Magnolia, Texas, and Harold and Geneva Brooks of Flynn; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Angie Duncan and Ophelia and Clayton Walker, all of Flynn, Etta and Jimmy Hearron of Centerville and Olga Jean and Virgil Watson of Marquez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Florene ‘Dixie’ David
March 2, 1912 — Feb. 8, 2001

Services for Florene “Dixie” David, 88, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Harral Dunnam of the First United Methodist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. David died Thursday at her home.

She was born in Ostrander, Minn., and lived in Bryan since 1988. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brownsville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey D. David; and a son, Clay A. Willis.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles L. and Mary Willis of Gonzales, La.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline A. and Louis Ruffino of Bryan; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren’ and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Evans Moody
Oct. 26, 1912 — Feb. 7, 2001

NAVASOTA — Services for Evans Moody, 88, of Piedmont, Texas, are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Navasota.

The Rev. J.W.L. Adams, retired from the First Baptist Church of Navasota, will officiate. Burial will be in Erwin Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.

Mr. Moody died Wednesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Anderson and was a rancher. He served in the U.S. Army in England during World War II and was director of the First National Bank. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school in the Youth Department and was a deacon for 45 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Loyce Goodwin Moody; and a son, Bill Moody.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Charlotte Moody of Waco; a daughter-in-law, Judy Moody of Piedmont; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Elliott and Margaret Goodwin of Navasota and Louise Blackwell of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Ozelle Stout of Houston and Velma Franks of Navasota; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or to a charity of choice.

James Randolph ‘Randy’ Scott
May 2, 1936 — Feb. 8, 2001

Services for James Randolph “Randy” Scott, 64, of College Station are set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station.

Bob Huffaker will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Scott died Thursday in Arlington, Texas.

He was born in Dallas and lived most of his life in Bryan and College Station. He was retired after 27 years at Texas A&M University as an electromicroscopy research associate. He received a bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and a master’s degree in science from the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Scott of College Station; a son and daughter-in-law, James Randolph Jr. and Stacy Scott of Bryan; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Stanley Kelley of College Station, Laurie and Brad Hulse of Lago Vista, Texas, and Beth and Mike Sharp of Arlington; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bill and Estelle Scott of College Station and Richard “Dickie” Scott of Magnolia, Texas; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Pat and James McLemore and Linda Scott, all of Corpus Christi, and Ellen Scott of Palm Bay, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Audrey Tidwell
April 7, 1922 — Feb. 9, 2001

CALDWELL — Services for Audrey Tidwell, 78, of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

The Rev. Jim Haile of Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church in Caldwell will officiate. Burial will be in Hamilton Chapel Cemetery near Rockdale.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tidwell died Friday in Caldwell.

She was born in Rockdale and was a retired homemaker. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Jack M. Tidwell of Kentucky; a son and daughter-in-law, Clifton and Sandra Jones of Brenham; a daughter, Phyllis Brysch of Hearne; and four sisters, Ola Mae Morgan, Sadie Nickels, Madie Threadgill and Dell Braden, all of Cameron.

Wenzel Ernst Witte
May 19, 1917 — Feb. 9, 2001

SOMERVILLE — Services for Wenzel Ernst Witte, 83, of Somerville are set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Lyons United Church of Christ in Lyons.

The Rev. Darrel Holub will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville.

Mr. Witte died Friday at his home.

He was born in Lyons and was a farmer and rancher in Burleson County.

Survivors include his caregiver, Lurise Page of Somerville; and two sisters, Minnie Witte of Somerville and Selma Witte of Fort Worth.

Memorials may be made to the Lyons United Church of Christ.

Richard L. ‘Pat’ Patrick
June 6, 1917 — Feb. 9, 2001

Services for Richard L. “Pat” Patrick, 83, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

The Revs. Phillip McLarty and Bob Leslie of the First Presbyterian Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in College Station Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Patrick died Friday.

He was born in Austin and lived in College Station for more than 50 years. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1940 and received a master’s degree from Iowa State University in 1947. He taught as an assistant professor in Agricultural Engineering at Texas A&M from 1947 until 1951, becoming a registered professional engineer in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as Commander of Battery 237th Anti-aircraft Searchlight Battalion for two years and returned to active duty in 1951. He retired from the Army Reserves in 1962 as a lieutenant colonel.

He worked for the Engineering Extension Service at Texas A&M and was also the chief engineer for W.E. Kutchbach Construction Company. In 1974, he established his own mechanical and electrical consulting business, from which he retired in 1988. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bryan, where he served as a deacon for over 40 years. He was past commander of the Earl Graham American Legion Post 159, past worshipful master of the Brazos Union Masonic Lodge 129, past president of the Briarcrest Country Club and past president of the Brazos Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Patrick of College Station; a sister, Patricia Grant of San Antonio; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Hugo and Alice Krenek of College Station, Lillian Krenek of Florida and Kenneth and Mary Ann Krenek of Corpus Christi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maxine Barnett
March 28, 1922 — Feb. 9, 2001

FRANKLIN — Services for Maxine Barnett, 78, of Franklin are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the New Baden Baptist Church in New Baden.

Eddie Mayo of the Elliott Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Franklin.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.

Mrs. Barnett died Friday in Franklin.

She was born in Robertson County and lived in Franklin all of her life. She was a homemaker and was a member of the New Baden Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Barnett, and a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Puska.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary and Sally Puska of Thorton, Richard and Kate Barnett and Charles Barnett, all of New Baden; two brothers, William Buchanan of Grand Prairie and James Buchanan of Neosho, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Baden Baptist Church, P.O. Box 26, New Baden, Texas 77870.

Joe Domin Bartek Sr.
Aug. 4, 1926 — Feb. 9, 2001

CALDWELL — Services for Joe Domin Bartek Sr., 74, of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Deanville.

The Rev. William R. Gaskamp will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mr. Bartek died Friday in Burleson St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell.

He was born in Chriesman and was retired after 31 years with the Alcoa Aluminum Company. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a life-member of VFW Post 4458 and the Deanville Sons of Hermann Lodge. He was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Viola Zwernemann of Caldwell; three sons and daughters-in-law, J.D. Jr. and Irene Bartek of Flatonia, Texas, Marvin and Sheryl Bartek of Austin and Carl and Debbie Bartek of Caldwell; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lori and Darrell Chmelar and Shelia Bartek, all of Caldwell; and 11 grandchildren.

Hans Brawand
June 13, 1913 — Feb. 9, 2001

Graveside services for Hans Brawand, 87, of College Station are set for 11 a.m. Monday at the College Station City Cemetery.

Mr. Philip Smith will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Mr. Brawand died Friday in Colton Inn Health Care in College Station.

He was born in Grindelwald, Switzerland, and lived in College Station since 1974. He was a retired research scientist with the Agronomy Department at Texas A&M University. He worked with the Soil Physics and Soil Science Departments. He received degrees from Cornell University and Purdue University and was a member of the Christian Science Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma M. Brawand.
