Nancy K. Nelson Douglass

CORPUS CHRISTI — Services for Nancy K. Nelson Douglass, 50, of Corpus Christi are set for 5 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Corpus Christi.

Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Camp Creek Cemetery in New Baden.

Arrangements are under the direction of Seaside Funeral Home in Corpus Christi.

Mrs. Douglass died Thursday.

She was a fifth-grade teacher at Petronila Elementary School at the time of her death. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan and Texas A&M University. She formerly taught in the Bryan, Arlington, Corsicana and Gonzales school districts and Annapolis Christian School. She was a Precept Bible teacher and a youth worker at Yorktown Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Sam Douglass; three sons, Mark Nelson Douglass of Fort Worth, Scott Paul Douglass of College Station and Timothy Karl Douglass of Corpus Christi; an adopted daughter, Furaha Elizabeth Kahindo of Corpus Christi; her father, Travis E. Nelson; a brother and sister-in-law, Barry Craig and Teri Nelson of College Station; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean Carol and Wayne Miller; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Cindy Douglass; her in-laws, Ransom S. and Martha Jean Douglass; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in her name to Yorktown Baptist Church, 5025 Yorktown Blvd., Corpus Christi, Texas 78413.

Antoniette Martha ‘Toney’ Hruska
Jan. 17, 1916 — Feb. 9, 2001

CALDWELL — Services for Antoniette Martha “Toney” Hruska, 85, of Caldwell are set for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell.

The Revs. Msgr. Emilian Foltyn and Dimitrij Colankin will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mrs. Hruska died Friday in Burleson St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell.

She was born in Burleson County and was a former employee of Perry Brothers in Caldwell. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was also a member of the VFW Post 4458 Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 451 Auxiliary.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Hruska Horner of Houston, and a sister, Mary Ella Fritcher of Caldwell.

Betty Lou Lamb
May 24, 1929 — Feb. 9, 2001

CALDWELL — Services for Betty Lou Lamb, 71, of Somerville are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

The Rev. Steve Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Grandview Cemetery in Pasadena, Texas.

Mrs. Lamb died Friday in St. Joseph Manor in Bryan.

She was born in Groveton, Texas, and was a rancher and homemaker. She was a member of the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association and the First Baptist Church of Caldwell.

Survivors include her husband, James M. Lamb of Hamilton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Mack and Linda Lamb of Brady, and Barry W. and Nicki Lamb of Hamilton; her mother and step-father, Dema and C.W. West of Pasadena; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Quincy and Dorothy James, David and Gayle West and Dean and Donnie West, all of Pasadena; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Floyd Morgan
June 20, 1910 — Feb. 8, 2001

ROCKDALE — Services for Floyd Morgan, 90, of Rockdale are set for 11 a.m. Monday at the New Hope Baptist Church in Rockdale.

The Rev. S.L. Ross of Springfield Baptist Church in Rockdale will officiate. Burial will be in the New Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Morgan died Thursday in Brackenridge Hospital in Austin.

He was born in Rockdale and lived most of his life in Rockdale. He had played professional baseball for the Kansas City Monarchs and was an all-star center fielder. He also worked for the TNP Railroad.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Morgan.

Survivors include three sons, Willie Ray Morgan and Henry Miller, both of Rockdale, and Don Miller of San Antonio; six daughters, Eva Strider and Donnie Morgan, both of Fort Worth, Eleanor McBride, Kathy Pride and Linda Ford, all of Rockdale, and Sandra McNeal of Tennessee; 40 grandchildren 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Carolyn Jo Tilson
May 22, 1948 — Feb. 9, 2001

FRANKLIN — Services for Carolyn Jo Tilson, 52, of Franklin are set for 3 p.m. Monday at the McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin.

Bobby Johnson of Ridge, Texas, will officiate. Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tilson died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Hearne and lived in Franklin most of her life. She attended Durham Business College in Waco and was employed as an abstract plant manager for Love Abstract Company in Franklin for 22 years. She was a member of the Easterly Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Wade and JoAnna Tilson of Easterly; a sister, Jean Pidousis of Easterly; three grandchildren, three aunts, an uncle and two nephews.

Richard L. ‘Pat’ Patrick

Richard L. “Pat” Patrick, 83, of College Station, Texas, passed away Friday morning, February 9, 2001, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center, leaving his adoring wife of 59 years, Gladys Krenek Patrick. Born June 6, 1917, in Austin, Texas, he was the son of the late Charles L. and Livonia Patrick.

He was united in marriage in San Francisco on February 14, 1942. Pat was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 47 years, during which time he has served as a Deacon, Elder, and Past Treasurer over the past 40 years, Endowed member of Texas A&M 12th Man Foundation, Member Texas A&M Former Students Association, Member Texas A&M Presidential Endowed Scholarship Program with 8 scholarships, Member and Past President (1965) of Briarcrest Country Club, Past Commander of Earl Graham American Legion Post No. 159, Past Worshipful Master of Brazos Union Masonic Lodge No. 129, and Past President of Brazos Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers.

Pat graduated from Texas A&M University with an Agricultural Engineering Degree in 1940 and received his Master’s Degree from Iowa State College in June 1947. He served as an Assistant Professor in Agricultural Engineering at Texas A&M and became a Registered Professional Engineer in 1949. From 1954 to 1974, Pat worked for the Texas Engineering Extension Service at Texas A&M and was a Chief Engineer for W.E. Kutchbach Construction Company. In July 1974, he went into private business as an electrical and mechanical consulting engineer. Pat sold his company to another engineering firm in 1981 but remained with them until his retirement in 1988. This consulting business was involved in the design of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems for several buildings on the campus of Texas A&M University.

Pat had a long, successful and distinguished military career that began with his volunteer enlistment into the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant on August 5, 1940, where he was stationed at Camp Hulen, Texas, with a gun battalion of the 197th Coast Artillery. Pat served three years and three months in the Pacific Theater in World War II during which time, as Captain, he was Commander of Battery B 237th Anti-aircraft Searchlight Battalion for two years. He sailed throughout the Pacific with ports that included Australia, New Guinea, the Philippine Islands and Mondoro Island. He was discharged from active duty in February 1946 and served in the Army Reserve attaining the rank of Major. As Major, Pat reentered active duty in September 1951 and was stationed at Fort Bliss Anti-aircraft and Guided Missile Center. He completed the Officer’s Guided Missile Course and the Plans and Training Section of the First Guided Missile Group. Pat served as the Center’s representative on the Nike Product Improvement Committee and helped develop the Nike Ajax System and the Army’s first operational surface to air missile. After the missile’s development, Pat remained to develop training materials for the system. He returned to the Army Reserve in 1954, where he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and retired in 1962.

In addition to his loving wife, Gladys, Pat Patrick is survived by his sister, Patricia Josephine Grant of San Antonio, Texas; sister-in-law, Lillian Krenek Thompson of Longwood, Florida; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hugo H. and Alice Krenek of College Station, Texas, and Kenneth C. and Mel Krenek of Corpus Christi, Texas; and numerous loving nephews, nieces and friends.

Billy Ray Dannhaus
Oct. 9, 1941 — Feb. 10, 2001

BRENHAM — Services for Billy Ray Dannhaus, 59, of Brenham are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem.

The Rev. Bob Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mr. Dannhaus died Saturday at his home.

He was born in the Phillipsburg area near Brenham and was owner of the Brenham Upholstery and Trim Shop. He was a member and council member of St. James Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Brenham Jaycees and was a Texas JCI senator. He was a coach for the Washington County Little League for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Jean Wehmeyer Dannhaus of Brenham; a son and daughter-in-law, Kyle Dean and Ginger Dannhaus of Brenham; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kamie and Tim Krueger of Brenham and Kellie and Rob Pisciotta of Temple; his mother, Elsie Emshoff Dannhaus of Brenham; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Joanna Dannhaus of Brazoria, Texas, and Elwood and Evyonne Dannhaus of Brenham; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church or Hospice Brazos Valley.

Gary Gene Schroeder
Sept. 9, 1951 — Feb. 10, 2001

NAVASOTA — Services for Gary Gene Schroeder, 49, of Anderson are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson.

The Rev. Dan Schoessow of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 5 to 7:30 p.m., at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.

A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Schroeder died Saturday in Anderson.

He was born in Grimes County and was a lifelong resident of Anderson. He was district supervisor for Mid-South Electric Co-op in Navasota and was a member of the Circle 7 Trail Riders. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Emily Schroeder of Anderson; two sons, Troy Springer and Cody Schroeder, both of Anderson; two daughters, Ashley Armatys of College Station and Tori Springer of Anderson; a brother, John Thomas Schroeder of Brenham; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and David Smith of Madisonville, Linda and Mike Copley of Anderson and Beverly and Emil Jenke Jr. of Paige, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Linda Schroeder of Anderson.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or to a charity of choice.

Orville Alderson
Feb. 12, 1923 — Feb. 9, 2001

LUBBOCK — Services for Orville Alderson, 77, of Lubbock were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church of Lubbock.

The Rev. Cliff Wright officiated. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements were under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock.

Mr. Alderson died Friday at his home.

He was born in Strafford, Texas, and graduated from Texas Tech University as an engineer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired as a colonel from the U.S. Army Reserve. He was the director of the Urban Renewal Agency in Lubbock for 28 years and was a member and Sunday school teacher at the First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Negella Jeane Abrams Alderson; and a son, Vance Alderson.

Survivors include two sons, Craig Alderson of Lubbock and Bruce Alderson of Bryan; a daughter, Anita Kay Kuhne of Lubbock; a brother, Jack Alderson of Lubbock; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

John Reed Andrus
Oct. 30, 1915 — Feb. 11, 2001

Services for John Reed Andrus, 85, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Rev. Joel Strickland of New Life Tabernacle will officiate. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:30 a.m. to the time of the services Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Andrus died Sunday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Madison County and was a lifelong resident of the Brazos Valley. He was a retired carpenter with the Texas A&M University physical plant. He was a member of the Liar’s Nest Coffee Club and was a former coach of the National League West Little League. He served in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Miller Andrus.

Survivors include seven sons and six daughters-in-law, Charles Andrus of Bryan, Louis D. and Susan Andrus of Spring, Texas, Milton and Beth Andrus of Orange, Calif., Gene and Linda Andrus of Humble, Texas, James and Rudi Andrus of Dripping Springs, Texas, Jerry and Carolyn Andrus of Katy, Texas, and Nicky and Elizabeth Andrus of Caldwell; a daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Edward Segura of Bryan; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Texas Society to Prevent Blindness, 3211 W. Dallas, Houston, Texas 77019.

William Bailey
April 4, 1945 — Feb. 8, 2001

Services for William Bailey, 55, of Normangee are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday in Ruby’s Chapel of Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

The Rev. C.W. Stewart of Mt. Olive Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Tiver Cemetery in Benchley.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bailey died Thursday in Normangee.

He was born in Robertson County and lived in Normangee for eight years. He was a construction worker.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Bailey of Bryan; four sons, Richard Bailey, Christopher Bailey and Derek Bailey, all of Bryan, and William Bailey Jr. of Muskogee, Ala.; three daughters, Carolyn D. Livingston and Sena Bailey, both of Bryan, and Yvette Bailey of Franklin; four brothers, Jeffery Bailey Jr., Clarence Bailey and Oliver Bailey, all of Bryan, and James Bailey of Normangee; six sisters, Frances Kearney, Pearl Bradford, Alma Rogers and Barbara Bailey, all of Bryan, Shirley Bailey and Mary Jones, both of Houston; his stepmother, Alberta Bailey of Bryan; and 11 grandchildren.
