Samuel Owen 'Sam' James
July 3, 1931 — Feb. 12, 2001

Services for Samuel Owen “Sam” James, 69, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Bryan. Dr. Phil McLarty and Dr. Robert Leslie of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bedias Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Mr. James died Monday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Musgokee, Okla. He lived in College Station for 42 years. He was a salesman for Sears’ appliance department. He was a member of the Brazos Union Lodge #129, a 32nd Degree Master Mason, a member of the Scottish Rites Houston Consistery, and was past grand master and secretary of the Brazos Union Lodge #129 in Bryan for 10 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bryan.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Wilkinson James of College Station; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Katy James of San Antonio, Jason F. and Linda James of Leander, and William B. and Gail James of Elizabeth Town, Ky.; a daughter and son-in-law, Katy and John McClellan of Houston; a sister and brother-in-law, Sue James and David Benderman of Austin; and ten grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to The American Lung Association, 3520 Executive Center Drive, Austin, Texas 78755.

Elaine 'Toni' Holick
Feb. 9, 1916 — Feb. 11, 2001

Services for Elaine “Toni” Holick, 85, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan. The Rev. John McCaffrey will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Holick died Sunday at Vencor Hospital in Houston.

She was born in Gatesville. She resided in Bryan most of her life. She was a secretary at Holick’s Boot Shop. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in College Station.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert C. Holick, Sr.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gilbert C. “Butch” Holick Jr. and his wife, Dora, of Garland, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law, Gibi and Mickey Speakmon of Bryan; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Texas Aggie Band Association, 3606 E. 29th St., Bryan, Texas 77802 in memory of Gil and Elaine Holick.

Henry Taylor Isgitt Jr.
March 12, 1927 — Feb. 13, 2001

Services for Henry Taylor Isgitt Jr., 73, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Friday at A&M Church of Christ. Gary Richards will officiate. Burial will be in College Station City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.

Mr. Isgitt died Tuesday in Bryan.

He was born in Converse, La. He was a member of A&M Church of Christ. Mr. Isgitt served in the U.S. Army. He was a general manager at Lawrence Marshall Chevrolet until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Myrna McCoy Isgitt of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Henry Stephen and Barbara Isgitt of Houston; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cindy and Gary Richards, and Judy Higginbotham, all of Bryan; one brother, Percy Isgitt of Houston; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to A&M Church of Christ New Building Fund, 1901 Harvey Mitchell Parkway South, College station, 77840.

Elaine ‘Toni’ Holick
Jan. 9, 1916 — Feb. 11, 2001

Services for Elaine “Toni” Holick, 85, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan. The Rev. John McCaffrey will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Mrs. Holick died Sunday at Vencor Hospital in Houston.

Barbara Ann Peyton
July 13, 1903 - Feb. 13, 2001

HEARNE — Services for Barbara Ann Peyton, 97, of Hearne are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Church of Christ in Hearne. Geron Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Henry Peyton Cemetery in the Benchley Community.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

Miss Peyton died Tuesday at Hearne Health Care.

She was born in the Benchley Community. She was a member of Church of Christ in Hearne.

Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Lewis Cheek of Baytown, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Josephine Detenbeck
Sept. 1, 1911 - Feb. 13, 2001

A mass for Josephine Detenbeck, 89, of Bryan is set for 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bryan. Monsignor John Malinowski will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Hillier Funeral Home.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Detenbeck died Tuesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in San Antone Prairie and was a homemaker. Mrs. Detenbeck lived in Bryan for 33 years and was previously was a resident of Caldwell. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jake S. Schweda.

Survivors include her husband, Earl Detenbeck of Bryan; her stepson, Dr. Lee Detenbeck and Kerstin of Marble Falls; her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Don Angonia of Bryan; a stepdaughter and husband, Patricia and Dr. Jim McLaughlin of Grand Prairie; her sister-in-law, Lela Alford of Caldwell; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church Building Fund.

Janelle Zgabay
Feb. 12, 1946 - Feb. 14, 2001

A mass for Janelle Zgabay, 55, of Bryan is set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. John McCaffrey will officiate. Burial will be in Restever Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church and at 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Hillier Funeral Home.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Zgabay died Wednesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Augusta, Ga. She was a retired licensed vocational nurse. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Joe Zgabay of Bryan; her son, Craig Zgabay of Bryan; her daughter, Tiffany Zgabay of Bryan; and three grandchildren.

Irvin Peterson, Sr.
Dec. 27, 1921 - Feb. 11, 2001

Services for Irvin Peterson, Sr., 79, of Bryan are set for 1 p.m. Friday at Clayton Baptist Church in College Station. The Rev. O.L. Leverston will officiate. Burial will be in Clayton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mr. Peterson died Sunday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Caldwell and lived in Bryan for 57 years. He was a dry cleaning technician and a tailor. Mr. Peterson attended Brushy Community School. He was a member of the board of trustees at his church and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Clayton Baptist Church and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Peterson of Bryan; one son, Irvin Peterson, Jr. of Cottage City, Md.; his daughter, Evelyn Peterson Williams of Bryan; his brother, Robert Hightower, Sr. of LaMarque; his sisters, Willie Mae Pharms and Edna Mae Curry, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Clayton Baptist Church.

Roger Noles
Jan. 5, 1947 — Feb. 13, 2001

JEWETT — Graveside services for Roger Noles, 54, of Rockdale are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Earl Whitmore will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Noles died Tuesday at his home in Jewett.

He was born in Albertsville, Ala. He retired from Alcoa in Rockdale in 1997 as a supervisor in a smelter after 27 years. He had been a security officer in Bryan until his illness. Mr. Noles was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Rockdale, past president of Central Texas Fireman Association, a member of Texas Fireman and Fire Marshals Associations, past member and chief of Minerva Volunteer Fire Department, a past member of Milano Volunteer Fire Department, a past member of the former Rockdale E.M.S. and the precinct chairman and co-chairman of the Republican Party.

Survivors include his wife, Sue St. Pe-Noles of Jewett; three sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Melanie Noles of Houston, Vince Noles of Austin and David Noles of Temple; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ryan Ramsey of Temple; two stepsons, John St. Pe and Kent St. Pe, both of Leon County; a stepdaughter, Andrea Roenne of Leon County; a brother, Larry Noles of Houston; two half-brothers, Nolan Millirons of Alabama and Jimmy Millirons of Magnolia; a sister, Deborah Watson of Montgomery; and nine grandchildren.

Louis Fagan
Dec. 20, 1914 — Feb. 13, 2001

Services for Louis Fagan, 86, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan. The Rev. John McCaffrey will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Monsignor John Gleissner officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Hillier Funeral Home.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Fagan died Tuesday at his residence in Bryan.

He was born in Ellinger, Texas. He was a carpenter. He had been a member of Sons of Hermann Lodge and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine Fagan of Bryan; two sons, Bob Fagan of Dallas and Jim Fagan of Hearne; two brothers, Robert Fagan of Rosenburg, Texas, and Willie Fagan of Richmond, Texas; a sister, Francis Sladek of LaGrange; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Joan Patricia Darne Hamrick
Sept. 7, 1930 — Feb. 14, 2001

BRENHAM — Services for Joan Patricia Darne Hamrick, 70, of Brenham are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Charles Matejowsky will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hamrick died Wednesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

She was born in Washington, D.C. She was a retired secretary and was active in the Ladies Elks Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Hamrick II of Brenham; two sons and daughter-in-law, Gene and Amelia Lyons of Odessa and Robert L. Hamrick III and Rhonda Hamrick of Conroe; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Rick Jones of Houston and Cynthia and James Redd of Houston; her mother, Virginia Moulton of Brenham; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Margie Janelle DePriest
Dec. 30, 1971 — Feb. 13, 2001

BUFFALO — A memorial service for Margie Janelle DePriest, 29, of Buffalo is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Ricks Funeral Home Chapel in Jewett. The Rev. Ray Payne will officiate.

Mrs. DePriest died Tuesday in Buffalo.

She was born in Houston. She was a housewife and a member of Ephesus Baptist Church.

Survivors include her mother, Sandra Miller of Pasadena; a sister, Kelly Henry of Hull; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.
