Dec. 1, 1917 — Feb. 16, 2001

Services for Esther Werny Rogers, 83, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Rev. Levan Hubbard of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Restever Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rogers died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Lyons and lived in Bryan for 55 years. She was retired after 23 years as a cafeteria cashier for Bryan ISD. She was a member of the Cavitt Street Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Rogers.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Rogers of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margie Bashinski
Feb. 5, 1936 — Feb. 17, 2001

BREMOND — Services for Margie Bashinski, 65, of Bremond are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremond.

The Revs. David Liebham and Celso Yu will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Peiskee Funeral Home in Bremond.

Ms. Bashinski died Saturday in Bremond.

She was born in Bremond and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a home childcare provider.

Survivors include four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Bashinski of Bryan, Jo Shirey of Mobile, Ala., Toni and Jim Talley and Christine and Carlton Buchanan, all of Waco; two brothers, Carl Bashinski of Bremond and Ed Bashinski of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Selestino Gonzalez
Jan. 30, 1948 — Feb. 10, 2001

HEARNE — Graveside services for Selestino Gonzalez, 53, of Mumford are set for 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Bryan City Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Robertson Funeral Chapel in Hearne.

Mr. Gonzalez died Feb. 10 in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Mumford.

Lillie Laskowski
Sept. 23, 1917 — Feb. 18, 2001

MADISONVILLE — Services for Lillie Laskowski, 83, of Madisonville are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Madisonville.

Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Resthaven Cemetery in Houston.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Laskowski died Sunday.

She was born in Bremond and lived in Madisonville for 13 years. She formerly lived in Houston for 40 years. She was a homemaker and was a Catholic.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Pete Laskowski.

Survivors include a son, Leonard Laskowski of Madisonville; a daughter, Elizabeth Jozwiak of Madisonville; a brother, L.B. Storemski of Bremond; four sisters, Louise Olexy, Christine Hablinski and Frances Jebbis, all of Houston, and Pauline Kasowski of Marlin, Texas; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Caroline Marie Ganske Meyer
Aug. 22, 1916 — Feb. 18, 2001

BRENHAM — Services for Caroline Marie Ganske Meyer, 84, of Brenham are set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill.

The Rev. Virgil Pecht will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mrs. Meyer died Sunday in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham.

She was born in Washington County and was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill and the Sons of Hermann Lodge. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred A. Meyer.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Barney and Dorothy Meyer and James Meyer, all of Brenham; a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene Meyer and Johnnie Ligues of Brenham; two sisters-in-law, Henrietta Bauer of Waterloo, Ill., and Selma Eyman of Bellville, Ill.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ora Pearl Raley
April 4, 1911 — Feb. 19, 2001

HEARNE — Services for Ora Pearl Raley, 89, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Heartfield Funeral Chapel in Hearne.

The Rev. John Alaniz of the Caldwell Assembly of God will officiate. Burial will be in the Marquez Cemetery in Marquez.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Raley died Monday at her home.

She was born in Marquez and lived in Bryan for two years. She was a member of the Assembly of God and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, William Jefferson Raley of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, William Dubois and Julie Raley of Houston; a daughter, Roger Adams of Bryan; a sister, Wilma Cardwell of Calvert; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Velma Redmond
Jan. 21, 1911 — Feb. 18, 2001

ENNIS, Texas — Services for Velma Redmond, 90, of Ennis are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Ennis.

The Revs. Karen Kravens and Glenn Jones and Dr. Larry Jinks will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Restever Mausoleum in Bryan.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis.

Mrs. Redmond died Sunday at the IOOF Nursing Home in Ennis.

She was born in Fort Worth and lived in Ennis since 1984. She graduated from Texas Women’s University in 1931 with a degree in chemistry and physics. She taught chemistry and physics at Oklahoma University medical School in Oklahoma City. She also flew for the Civil Air Defense during World War II. She was a former resident of Bryan, where she established the Redmond Real Estate Office. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ennis, The Eastern Star and was a past president of the Board of Realtors in Bryan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harold E. Redmond; and a daughter, Jeanne Redmond.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Redmond of Ennis; two sisters, Betty Clark of Mississippi and Helen McDonnel of Milwaukee, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Grayson Victor Schirmacher
March 16, 1916 — Feb. 18, 2001

BRENHAM — Services for Grayson Victor Schirmacher, 84, of Houston are set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brenham.

The Rev. Cecelia Smith will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Oakwood Cemetery - Addicks Addition in Huntsville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mr. Schirmacher died Sunday in Houston.

He was born in Houston and was retired from Houston Lighting and Power and the maintenance department for the Brenham ISD. He was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brenham and Graham Lodge No. 20 A.F.&A.M.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Angeline Henty Schirmacher.

Survivors include his son, the Rev. Michael Schirmacher of Houston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Jody Preuss of Brenham and Diane and David Glanzer of Montgomery, Ala.; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Joan and Leonard Dudley of LaPorte, Texas, Frances and Earl Menasco and Maxine Walker, all of Houston, and Mary Grace and Lane McReynolds of Franklin; his companion, Dorothy Haskins of Brenham; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Grayson Schirmacher Scholarship Fund, Brenham Public Schools, P.O. Box 1147, Brenham, Texas 77833 or to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 2310 Airline Drive, Brenham, Texas 77833.

Coivin Herman Schlabach
July 1, 1914 — Feb. 18, 2001

BRENHAM — Services for Coivin Herman Schlabach, 86, of Fayetteville are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby.

The Rev. Don Cole will officiate. Burial will be in Shelby Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mr. Schlabach died Sunday in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham.

He was born in Shelby and was a a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby. He was a farmer, carpenter and secretary for Austin County Mutual Insurance Company. In 1934 he joined Triple C. He was a member of the Sons of Herman Lodge No. 28 and the Shelby Fire Department and served for many years as secretary-treasurer of Harmonie Hall.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Lee Weyand Schlabach.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Alfred Kelm of Burton; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy E. and Verlene Schlabach of Shelby; a sister, Pearl Aschenbeck of Shelby; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby Memorial Fund.

Robert Lee Wootan
Aug. 20, 1926 — Feb. 18, 2001

HEARNE — Services for Robert Lee Wootan, 74, of LaPorte, Texas, are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Heartfield Funeral Chapel in Hearne.

The Rev. Eddy Mayo of Franklin will officiate. Burial will be in Elliott Cemetery in Elliott, Texas.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Wootan died Sunday at his home.

He was born in Bremond and lived in LaPorte for 12 years. He was a retired construction worker and was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Louise Wootan.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Shirley Wootan of LaPorte; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharian Kay and Claude Rodney Anderson III of Victoria, Texas; a half-brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Meredith Johnson of Galena Park, Texas; a half-sister, Jewel Ogden of Waco; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Hugh Coley Cundiff
Dec. 28, 1922 — Feb. 18, 2001

DALLAS — A graveside service for Hugh Coley Cundiff, 78, of Dallas is set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Centerville City Cemetery in Centerville. Dr. Charles White, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Centerville, will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home in Centerville.

Mr. Cundiff died Sunday at his home.

He was born in Centerville and attended the Allen military Academy and Southwestern University, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of the Chapel of the Cross Church in Dallas.

Survivors include numerous cousins.
