Allie Marie Harris Dodson
Aug. 19, 1912- March 3, 2001

MEDIA, Pa. — Services for Allie Marie Harris Dodson, 88, of Media, Pa. and formerly of Rockdale, are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Rockdale. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dodson died Saturday in a nursing home in Media, Pa.

She was born in Bishop, Texas and was a psychiatric nurse for the Austin State Hospital in Austin and later in nursing homes until her retirement. She was raised and educated in the Pleasant Hill Community near Rockdale. Mrs. Dodson was a former member of the Church of Christ in Rockdale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H.C. Dodson.Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie R. Sculley of Linwood, Pa.; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Oscar Howard Noey
Sept. 27, 1934 - March 8, 2001

MARQUEZ — Services for Oscar Howard Noey, 66, of Marquez are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Marquez. Brother Ross Newton of First Baptist Church in Flynn will officiate. Burial will be in the Winn Cemetery in Marquez. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.

Mr. Noey died Thursday.

He was a lifetime resident of Marquez. He was a farmer and rancher. Mr. Noey was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Selma Noey of Marquez; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry Noey and Jim Howard and his wife, Stella Noey, all of Marquez; his daughter, Shelia Noey of Marquez; his brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Sue Noey, Leo Noey, Ed Noey and Vivian and Linda Noey, all of Marquez; his sisters and brother-in-law, Fredaleen Madden of Marquez and Sue and Eddie Baker of Montalba, Texas; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Thomas “Tommy” Collins
July 14, 1955 - March 5, 2001

Services for Thomas “Tommy” Collins, 45, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Pace-Stancil Probst Chapel in Cleveland. Rev. A.V. Walters and Rev. Forest Land will officiate. Burial will be in Ryan Cemetery in Cleveland.

Mr. Collins died Monday in Bryan. He was employed as a route supervisor with the City of College Station. He was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church.

He was born in Cleveland, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Collins of Bryan; his daughter and son-in-law, Adenea and Norris Carnes of Bryan; his mother, Betty A. Collins of Cleveland; his father, Francis M. Collins; his mother-in-law, Josephine Attaway of Houston; his brothers, David E. Collins, Hardy Jeff Collins and Fran G. Collins, all of Cleveland; his sisters, Rosalee Cormier and Janis F. Hindman, both of Cleveland; his brothers-in-law and their wives, James and Rhonda LaBuff of Cleveland, Donald and Sandra Attaway of Germany, and Ernest and Beverly Wood of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

Marcine Manning
June 16, 1912 - March 6, 2001

NAVASOTA — Services for Marcine Manning, 88, of Navasota are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Richards. The Rev. Joe Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Long Street Cemetery in Richards.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Navasota.

Mr. Manning died Tuesday at Grimes St. Joseph.

He was born in Grimes County.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Marcine Manning, Jr. and his wife, Johnny of Detroit, Mich.; his daughters and son-in-law, Hazel Mae Johnson of Houston and Margaret M. and Walter Wheatfall of Navasota; his sisters and brother-in-law, Ida Mae and Ben Carr and Nannie Blanton, all of Houston; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Arrie M. Little
Sept. 10, 1909 - March 8, 2001

CAMERON — Graveside services for Arrie M. Little, 91, of Cameron are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Gause Cemetery. The Rev. Douglas Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mrs. Little died Thursday at Central Texas Hospital in Cameron.

She was born in Burleson County and lived in Cameron since 1987. She was a homemaker and was a cook at Milano Independent School District.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Brady Little.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Mable Foster of Cameron; her brother, James Payne of Midland; her sister, Ester Wilson of Cameron; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Sandy Dean Jones
Nov. 26, 1958 - March 7, 2001

Services for Sandy Dean Jones, 42, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan. Burial will be in Latexo Memorial Cemetery in Houston County.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Jones died Wednesday in Temple.
He was born in Dale City, Okla. He was a graduate of Consolidated High School in College Station. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was the professional driver for the band Diamond Rio until his retirement.

Survivors include his mother, Adelle Jones-Murphy of Bryan; his stepbrother, Mike Murphy of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris Layne
August 24, 1914 - March 3, 2001

Funeral services for Doris Layne, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Oglesby. Rev. Tony McCollum and Rev. Jimmy Allen will officiate. Burial will follow in Post Oak Cemetery.

Mrs. Layne died Saturday in Kingsburg, Calif.

She was a longtime Oglesby resident and had been a teller at National Bank in Gatesville. She retired as a teller at Oglesby State Bank. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Oglesby, where she served as church pianist for 75 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Cleveland Layne.

Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Segner of College Station and Carol Marquez of Selma, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Jim Frank ‘Hank’ Mills
Nov. 4, 1921 — March 8, 2001

Services for Jim Frank “Hank” Mills, 79, of College Station are set for 11 a.m. Monday at A&M United Methodist Church in College Station.

The Revs. Bob Waters and Jerry Neff of A&M United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in College Station Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9 a.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station.

Mr. Mills died Thursday in College Station Medical Center.

He was born in Winnsboro, Texas, and lived in College Station for over 50 years. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired as associate professor emeritus after 42 years at Texas A&M University with the Soil and Crop Science Department. He was a member of A&M United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Henry Jean Mills, and a son, Jim Frank Mills Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Mills of College Station; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Suzy Mills of College Station and Jere and Nancy Mills of Mesquite; a step-son, Dr. W. Michael Childress of Fort Collins, Colo.; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Steve Sainton of Grand Prairie; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Jim Frank Mills Endowment Scholarship Fund, Texas A&M Foundation, 401 George Bush Drive, College Station, Texas 77840-2811.

Franklin Wayne Best
Oct. 26, 1930 — March 8, 2001

HOUSTON — Services for Franklin Wayne Best, 70, of College Station are set for 11 a.m. Monday at the West End Baptist Church in Houston.

The Revs. Jim Stevens and Red Gaze will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Houston.

Mr. Best died Thursday.

He was born in Yazoo City, Miss., and formerly lived in Houston. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Navasota and was a former member and deacon of the West End Baptist Church in Houston.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Best; a daughter and son-in-law, Belinda Best and Dickie Baldwin; a sister, Frances Simmons; a brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Betty Best; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 20448, Houston, Texas 77225-1448.

Eric Brooks
March 1, 1973 — March 4, 2001

BRENHAM — Services for Eric Brooks, 28, of Washington are set for 11 a.m. Sunday at the Allwise Baptist Church in Chappell Hill.

The Rev. Joe James will officiate. Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Taft Harris Funeral Home in Brenham.

Mr. Brooks died Sunday at his home.

Survivors include his parents, Cornelius Brooks and Eddie L. Brooks; two daughters, Lyric and Tre’nisha; four brothers, Michael Brooks, Derrick Ervin, Darrrick Ervin and Donnie Ervin; two sisters, LeShandle Smith and Taia Ray; six uncles, eight aunts, his grandmother and numerous other relatives.

Ben Perrone
Dec. 10, 1910 — March 8, 2001

HEARNE — Services for Ben Perrone, 90, of Hearne are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hearne.

The Rev. Scott Mikkelson of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Mr. Perrone died Thursday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Caldwell and was a lifelong resident of Hearne. He was a farmer and rancher and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Perrone of Hearne; a brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Peggy Perrone of College Station; five sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna Wiesepape Browdy
Jan. 28, 1914 — March 8, 2001

BRENHAM — Services for Edna Wiesepape Browdy, 87, of Austin are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

The Rev. Bill Derrick will officiate. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Capital Memorial Park in Austin.

Mrs. Browdy died Thursday at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham.

She was born in the Salem community of Washington County and was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Austin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. Browdy, and a daughter, Joy Ann Von der Gruen.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Dieter Von der Gruen of Germany; a brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Tekla Wiesepape of Brenham; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Edna Browdy of Rosenberg and Ben and Ella Lou Davis of Gainesville; three grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church of Salem.

Christopher David Moore Jr.
June 23, 1998 — March 4, 2001

BEDIAS — Graveside services for Christopher David Moore Jr., 2, of Madisonville are set 2 p.m. Sunday at the Allphin Cemetery in Madison County.

The Rev. Jimmie Richie of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Pankey will officiate.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Bedias.

Christopher died Sunday.

Survivors include his parents, Christopher David Moore Sr. of Madisonville and Jackie Irene Hill of Laquey, Mo.; two sisters, Laura Irene Moore and Kristen Savannah Darlynn Moore; a brother, Jack Clayton Allen; his grandparents, David and Karen Moore and Neal and Kathy Singleton, all of Madisonville, and Dale Allen of Laquey; great-grandparents, Laura Bell Garrett and Jack Belonie and JoAnn Neal, all of Madisonville, Joe and Virginia Moore of Tomball, Kenneth and Nadine Moore of Franklin, Phillip and Sylvia Bell of Fouke, Ark.; an aunt and numerous great-aunts, uncles and cousins.
