Seferina Delgado

Funeral services for Seferina “Silva” Delgado, 82, of Beasley, will be held at 10 a.m. today, Saturday, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with Rev. Raymond Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakeside Latin Cemetery in Eagle Lake. Rosary services were held Friday evening at the Wharton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Delgado passed away Aug. 2, 2006, in her home. She was born on April 21, 1924 in Weimar, daughter of the late Abelardo and Benigna Molina Silva.

She was a longtime resident of Beasley. Mrs. Delgado married Jesus Delgado on Oct. 9, 1940, in Rosenberg. He preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1992. Seferina was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton.

Survivors include daughters, Margarita Delgado, Juanita Montalbo and Maria Guadalupe Delgado all of Beasley, Maria Del Carmen Luna and husband, Pedro, and Cecilia Delgado, all of Wharton; sons, Antonio Delgado and Jose Luis Delgado and wife, Daisy, all of Wharton, Augustine Delgado and wife, Elicia, Simon Delgado, Raymond Delgado, Juan Delgado and wife, Pricilla, Vicente Delgado, Jesus Delgado, and Pedro Delgado and wife, Angelita, all of Beasley, Jose Daniel Delgado and wife, Anita of Wallis; sisters, Mary Silva, Margarita Martinez and husband, Francisco, Carol Pickens, Guadalupe Mendez, Adella Carranza and Candelaria Carranza; brother, Candelario Silva and wife, Felipa; 39 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 204 Second St., Wharton, TX 77488; or American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15186, Austin, TX 78761.

Joe Flores

Joe Salome Flores, age 53, of Glen Flora, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2006. He was born on April 30, 1953, in El Campo, son of the late George Jr. and Epifania Rios Flores.

Mr. Flores was a lifelong resident of Glen Flora and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton. He married Josie Martinez in Glen Flora on April 1, 1970. Mr. Flores was an owner operator of a trucking company based in Glen Flora. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

A rosary service was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at the Wharton Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with Rev. Raymond Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Flora Cemetery in Glen Flora.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Josie Flores of Glen Flora; sons, Joe Flores Jr. and wife, Laura, Roy Flores and wife, Jackie, Domingo Flores and fiancée, Heather Gussman, and Ramiro Flores, all of Glen Flora; daughters, Kathy Rodriguez and husband, Israel, of Glen Flora, Josie Garza and husband, Rick, of Wharton; grandchildren, Joey III, Diego, Roy Jr. and Sean Flores, Brenna, Ricky, Zachary and Ethan Garza, all of Wharton; sisters, Janie Martinez and husband, Floyd, of Spanish Camp, Linda Moreno and husband, Mario, of El Campo; brothers, John Flores and wife, Janie, of Glen Flora, Felix Flores and wife, Tila, of El Campo, Daniel Flores and wife, Betty, of Spanish Camp.
He was preceded in death by his son, Guadalupe Flores and brother, George Flores III.

Pallbearers were Joe Flores Jr., Roy Flores, Domingo Flores, Ramiro Flores, Israel Rodriguez, and Rick Garza.

Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.

James Ondrias

James John “Jimmie” Ondrias, age 79, of Wharton, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at his residence in Wharton. He was born on Oct. 27, 1926, in Hungerford, son of the late George Ondrias and Veronica Krenek Ondrias.

Mr. Ondrias was a lifelong resident of Hungerford and Wharton. He attended Hungerford, Iago and Boling schools as a child. Mr. Ondrias obtained his technical training at The National Radio Institute, RCA and Zenith Electronics Schools. He was the owner/founder of Jimmie’s TV and Appliance in Wharton for 45 years until his retirement in 1991. Mr. Ondrias was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes, fishing, cooking and listening to polka music. He loved his family and was a great provider for them.

Funeral mass services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Janak officiating and Rev. Dominic Antwi-Boasiako assisting. Interment followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Rosary services were held Monday evening at Wharton Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Ondrias of Wharton and their daughter, Julie Washburn and husband, Matt, of Plano; step-children, Sheila Cook and husband, Larry, of Richmond and Susan Svatek of Houston.

From his previous marriage to Helen Wesselski, he is survived by children, Jim Ondrias and wife, Dolly, of Houston, La Verne Gilligan and husband, Jim, of Beaumont, Ronnie Ondrias and wife, Deana, of Wharton, Darrell Ondrias and wife, Nancy, of Wharton, Linda Hancock and husband, J.R., of Round Rock, Michael Ondrias and wife, Dana, of Richmond. He is also survived by grandchildren, Katie Ondrias, Amy Moseley, Brian Ondrias, Wesley Ondrias, Paul Hancock, Haylee Hancock, Ashley Hancock, Dustin Williams, Jason Robinson, Logan Washburn, Taylor Cook, Travis Cook and Trent Cook.

Pallbearers were Jerome Labay, Anthony Duyka, Bill Hubenak, Jerry Ondrias, Bobby Joe Ondrias and Larry Austin.

Honorary pallbearers are all his many friends and former customers.

Funeral services are pending for Joseph Percy Breaux, 77, of Wharton, at Wharton Funeral Home.
Mr. Breaux died Aug. 3, 2006, in a Houston hospital following a brief illness.

James Fleming

James Marshall Fleming, age 56, of El Paso, passed away on July 31, 2006. He was born on June 1, 1950, in Freeport to parents Marshall Emanuel and Justina Rafael Fleming.

Mr. Fleming graduated from Brazosport High School in Freeport in 1968. He joined the United States Army in January of 1969 and retired as aircraft maintenance senior sergeant in 1991. In his 21 years of service, Mr. Fleming fought in the Vietname War, earning awards such as Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross and many others. He had been living in South Korea for 15 years before moving to El Paso in July of 2006.

He earned an associate of liberal arts and sciences degree from San Leo College in 1979 and an associate’s degree in aviation maintenance technology from Eastern New Mexico State in 2005.
Mr. Fleming was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marshall and Marguerite Fleming, and Julian and Rosario Rafael.

He is survived by his parents, Marshall and Justina Fleming of League City; children, Matthew Fleming of Savannah, Ga.; Danielle Fleming of Savannah, Ga.; grandchildren, Kayleigh Fleming and Taylor Fleming, of Savannah, Ga.; sister, Marguerite Ciruti and husband, Floyd, of Wharton; brother, Julian Fleming and wife, Carol, of Lake Jackson; nephew, Charles Ciruti, of Wharton; niece, Lacey Love, of The Woodlands; niece, Simi Ciruti, of Wharton; niece, Stacey Fleming, of Clear Lake; and nephew, John Fleming, of College Station.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Friendswood, 111 East Heritage Drive.

Elida Munguia

Funeral services for Elida “Lilla” Camacho Munguia of Austin, and formerly of Wharton County from 1942 until 2000, were held today, Friday, at Artero Memorial Chapels followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Victoria.

Mrs. Munguia died in Austin on Aug. 1, 2006, at the age of 95. She was born Oct. 27, 1910, in Bay City.
She is survived by three sons, Arthur Munguia Jr. and wife Doris of Vass, N.C., Rudy Munguia and wife Gloria of Austin and Richard Munguia and wife Yolanda of Kyle; and one daughter, Anita Stubblefield and husband Jimmy of Buda; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Arturo Munguia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to a charity of personal choice.

Nina Price

Nina Mildred Price was born June 3, 1918, in Pierce to Carl and Katie Rasmussen. She graduated from Crescent High School. Later she was employed at Kelly Air Force Base and met and married George Price.

Mrs. Price died on Monday, July 31, 2006, in the Port Lavaca Community Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, George; daughter, Joann and husband Sonny Brune of Markham; son, Thomas Price and wife Gwen of San Antonio; daughter, Mary Jo and husband Bob Lytton of Sherman; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother, Oscar Rasmussen of Wharton; sisters, Myrtle Kernel of Wharton and Rose Kate Martinique of El Campo; also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eva Kenter; brothers, Willie, Calvin, Robert and Gilbert.

Joseph Breaux

Joseph Percy Breaux, 77, of Wharton, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, in a Houston hospital following a brief illness. He was born on Oct. 24, 1928, in Crowley, La., the son of the late Delmas Breaux and Evella Hebert Breaux.

Mr. Breaux and his late wife, Inez T. Arceneaux Breaux, were residents of Wharton since 1978. He was preceded in death by Mrs. Inez Breaux who died on Jan. 28, 2001. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leonard Breaux; one grandson, David Breaux; and a former wife, Mildred Sittig. Mr. Breaux served in the National Guard and was placed on active duty in the U.S. Army when the Korean War started. He served with Btry. C, 187 FA Observation Battalion. Mr. Breaux served 13 months on the front lines in the Korean War, rising to the rank of staff sergeant and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and several other medals. He received an Honorable Discharge, Sept. 10, 1952. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton and was a very close friend of the late Rev. Joe Koebel. Mr. Breaux had worked for Barbins Novelty Company in Crowley, La., for Keton Novelty Company in Wharton, and Lone Star Cleaners, part-time until his death. He enjoyed cooking, woodworking, putting together vintage model cars and trucks, working with electronics and fishing. He enjoyed family, home, and Cajun music.

A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Deacon Alvin Matthys officiating. A Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Rev. Roger Hawes officiating. Graveside services followed at the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton with military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 87 of Wharton.

Survivors include one son, Richard Breaux of Iota, La; daughters, Bonnie Fergerson of Houston, Mona Woodward of Moss Bluff, La., Monora “Cookie” Broussard of Iowa, La.; step-daughters, Mylinda Foreman of Kaplan, La., and Shelby Thibodeaux of Rayne, La.; steps-sons, Shelton Terro of New Iberia, La., and Timothy Terro of Rayne, La.; grandchildren, Ricky Breaux, Tommy Breaux, Josh Breaux, Terri Middleton, Trisha Seagler, Micah Woodward, Rachel Bourque, Jennifer Woodward, Michael Broussard, Grady Broussard and Crystal Broussard; seven great-grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Donald Foreman, Tommy Breaux, David Cormier, Doug Middleton, Lupe Castillo and Bill Ansley.

Honorary pallbearers were Frank Heikamp, John Heikamp, Tres Ansley, Joel Ansley, Micah Woodward, Michael Gomez Sr., Michael Gomez II, John Price Sr., J.J. Price and all of his fellow co-workers at Lone Star Cleaners and his many friends and neighbors.

In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15186, Austin, TX 78761.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home, 515 Boling Hwy., Wharton, TX 77488.

Ernest Brown
Ernest Doyle Brown Sr., age 85, of Lane City, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, in a Houston hospital. He was born on May 23, 1921, in Bastrop, son of the late John Homer and Susie Colander Bush Brown.
Mr. Brown was a longtime resident of Wharton. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge. Mr. Brown was awarded the American Defense Ribbon, the American Theatre Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon. He married Ethel Evelyn Morris on Sept. 12, 1947, in Bartlett. She preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 1985. Mr. Brown worked for Cochran Motor Company in Wharton as a mechanic for many years. He enjoyed spending time raising his cattle, chickens, and hunting with his grandchildren, and loved to mow the lawn.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at Wharton Funeral Home with Brother Kenny James officiating. Interment and military graveside services followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery under the auspices of the Wharton American Legion.

Survivors include his children, Ernest Doyle Brown Jr. of Florida, Roy Anthony Brown of Pasadena, Judy Brown Jeffries and husband, Jeff, of Old Ocean, Bobby Ray Brown and wife, Shelly, of Wharton, Ricky Lynn Brown and wife, Jeanette, of Pledger, Earl Gene Brown and wife, Teresa, of Wharton, Pamela Ferguson and Steve Ward of Cleveland, and John Christopher Brown of Houston; sister, Julia Howell of Rosenberg; brother, R.L. Brown of Kosse; 28 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren with three on the way and two great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by son, Tommy Wayne Brown and grandchildren, Jason Doyle Jeffries, Thomas Wayne Brown and Amanda Kay Huffman.

Pallbearers were Bryan Brown, Allen Jeffries, James Jeffries, Justin Jeffries, Franklin Brown, Jay Stell, Todd Brown and Ricky Huffmann.
Honorary pallbearer was Eric Alonso.
