Bruce Webster
Funeral services for Bruce Webster, 82, of Boling, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Christ Episcopal Church in Matagorda. Graveside services will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Webster died Dec. 12, 2002, in Houston.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Wharton Funeral Home.
Justin Mach
Justin Emil Mach Sr., age 84, of Boling, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on Feb. 25, 1919, in Hillje, the son of the late John and Annie Socha Mach.
Mr. Mach married Mildred Schulze on Dec. 30, 1941, in El Campo. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Newgulf in 1941 and worked as a vat operator for Texasgulf Sulphur Company for 37 years prior to retiring in 1977. Mr. Mach was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Boling and enjoyed spending his free time fishing.
Funeral mass was held 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Rev. Joe Vrana officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003, in the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mildred Mach of Boling; daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Jerry Svatek of Boling and Dorothy and Larry Marek of Shiner; sons and daughters-in-law, Justin and Peggy Mach Jr. of Boling and Gary and Elizabeth Mach of Boling; grandchildren, Darryl Spacek of Dayton, Steve Spacek of Sweeny, Keith Marek of Yoakum, Jerry Svatek Jr. of Boling, Wanda Hobbs of Boling, Laura Bickham of Newgulf, Greg Mach of Newgulf, Renae Mach of Boling and Douglas Mach of Boling; great-grandchildren, Taylor Spacek, Victoria Spacek, Kayla Spacek, Autumn Spacek, Archie Spacek, Cory Spacek, Lindsey Spacek, Brittany Moores, Kyleigh Marek, Preston Marek, Angela Granados, Gabrielle Svatek, Garret Svatek, Justin Hobbs, MaKayla Hobbs, Allison Hobbs, Kassie Nash, Devynn Nash, Kade Bickham, Laelah Bickham, Jason Mach and Sydney Mach and honorary grandchild, Alyssa Beck. Pallbearers were Darryl Spacek, Keith Marek, Jerry Svatek Jr., Greg Mach, Chad Bickham, William Spacek and Douglas Mach.
Honorary pallbearers were Justin Hobbs, Cory Spacek and Steve Spacek.

Kenneth Gold
Funeral services for Kenneth Gold, 50, of El Campo, were held Sunday at Christ Is Life Church with Rev. Michael Atherton officiating. Burial followed in Holy Cross Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Gold died June 6, 2003. He was born Feb. 9, 1953, in Alice to Clarine Moeller Gold of El Campo and the late George Gold Sr.
He was a graduate of El Campo High School and Texas A&M University. Mr. Gold was a self-employed oil field gauger. He was a member of Christ Is Life Church where he served as an usher.
Survivors include wife, Rita Kalas Gold of El Campo; mother, Clarine Gold of El Campo; daughters and son-in-law, Michelle and John Genzer, Kristie Gold and Kara Gold, all of El Campo; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Brian and Jean Gold of El Campo; sisters, Genevieve Hicks of Van Vleck, Delores Janik and Judy Lezak, both of El Campo, and Nancy Gold of Houston; brother, Ralph Gold of El Campo; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his father, George Gold Sr., and brother, George Gold Jr.

Frances Nelson
Graveside services for Frances “Alberta” Wootan Nelson, 93, of Menard and formerly of Wharton, were held Tuesday at Rest Haven Cemetery in Menard with Mike Riley officiating.
Mrs. Nelson died June 7, 2003, in Menard. She was born Nov. 2, 1909, in Mason County to the late Thomas Jefferson and Lilly Mae Eaton Wootan.
She married Claude Nelson and was a school teacher. Mrs. Nelson taught in Wharton for 14 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include sisters, Mozelle Benton of Menard and Dell Yvonne Parker of Junction; four sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Nelson, parents, five brothers and one sister.
Vera Obenhaus
Funeral services for Elvera Theresa Semora Obenhaus, 79, of Bonus, were held Monday at Eagle Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. David King officiating. Burial followed in Lakeside Cemetery.
Mrs. Obenhaus died June 6, 2003, in Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in Houston after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 5, 1923, in Karnes County to Francis Oscar and Lillie Lorene Moore Semora.
Her family moved to Yoakum when she was three-years-old and she was reared and attended school there. Mrs. Obenhaus married Jack Moran Obenhaus on Jan. 15, 1949, in El Campo. She had been a resident of Eagle Lake and Bonus areas most of her life. Mrs. Obenhaus was a member of First United Methodist Church. She worked as a professional seamstress.
Survivors include sons, Ross and Gary Obenhaus, both of Eagle Lake; sister, Melba Beverlin of Austin; brother and sister-in -law, Marvin and Ella Mae Semora of Sealy; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Mary Obenhaus of Bonus; one grandson and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack M. Obenhaus on Dec. 29, 2000; sisters, Bernice Semora, Molly Nolen, Gertrude Matecek, Irene Seitz and Letha Henneke; brothers, Noah and Lewis Semora.

Federico Weishiemer
Funeral services for Federico Weishiemer Jr., 85, of Boling, were held June 2, 2003, at the Church of Christ in Goliad. Burial followed in Flores Cemetery in Goliad.
Mr. Weishiemer died May 29, 2003, in Boling. He was born May 17, 1918, in Meyersville.
He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Church of Christ in Goliad.
Survivors include wife, Mary Ramirez Weishiemer; daughters and sons-in-law, Sadie and Gabriel Gomez, Connie and Luis Davila and Carmen and Oscar Cisneros; sons and daughter-in-law, Alfred and Yolanda Weishiemer and Ernesto Weishiemer; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Freddie Axel
Funeral services for Freddie Alma Axel Sr., 65, of Wharton, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Little Concord Baptist Church with Rev. T.J. Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-9 p.m. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Axel died at his home Aug. 3, 2003. He was born Feb. 25, 1938, in Bay City to Otto and Gussie Woods.
Survivors include wife, Cheryl Johnson Axel of Wharton; sons, Freddie Alma Axel Jr. and Cornelius De Voll Axel, both of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Michele Antoinette Cook of Uvalde, Denise Marie Axel of Dallas, Terry Lynn Hoffpauair of Lewisville, Shenequa Shanae’ Johnson and Jacqueline Joyce Johnson, both of Wharton; and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Williams died Aug. 1, 2003, at MD Anderson Cancer Center. She was born Feb. 1, 1926, in Wharton to Willie and Susie Arnold Richardson.

Nickie Hale
Nickie Glenn Hale, 27, loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother and grandson passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003. He was born March 27, 1976, in Lubbock and raised in Sweeny.
Mr. Hale’s human compassion and love of life made him a friend to everyone. He made all lives a little better and could always brighten a day and make people laugh, He was a wonderful friend, son, brother and grandson; always unselfishly giving himself to those he loved. A devoted husband and father, Mr. Hale was very proud of his family. He leaves a void that cannot be filled. His family all love him and hold his memories close until they meet again.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Marie Wilson Hale of Wharton; by his children, Brittney Marie, Jeremy Daniel and Reagen Mitchell, all of Wharton; by his parents, Mitchell Don and Carolyn Jean Hale of Sweeny; by his grandparents, Shirlene Sanders of Sweeny and Nickie Don and Janie Hale of Matagorda; by his sister, Heather Jean Hale of Freeport; and his niece: Trinity Hartmann of Freeport. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Glenn Sanders.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at the Old Ocean Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Tharp officiating. Interment was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, in the Afton Cemetery in Afton.
Pallbearers were John Pennington, Aaron Slaughter, Chris Pickens, Smokey Herbert, Joe Villalouvas, Shannon Venglar, Randy Guiterrez and Darrin Dillard.

Addie Keton
Following cremation, memorial and rosary services for Addie Mae Keton, 96, of Wharton, were held Sunday at Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Bucek officiating. A private graveside service was held Monday at Bold Springs Cemetery in West.
Mrs. Keton died Oct. 2, 2003, in Wharton. She was born March 31, 1907, in Birone, the daughter of the late John Wesley Bankston and Lilly Iola Carradine Bankston.
She married Jerry M. Keton on Aug. 5, 1929, in Waco. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1981. Mrs. Keton worked as the secretary at Keton Novelty until age 95. She was a longtime resident of Wharton and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Senior Friends and the Wharton Garden Club.
Survivors include son, J. Pat Keton of Wharton; sister, Gwen Peters of West; brother, O.D. Bankston of Dallas; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, one sister, three brothers and two grandchildren.

Callie Shorter
Funeral services for Callie Lee Shorter, 80, of Wharton, will be held Saturday at noon at New Faith Church with Rev. M.E. Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Jesus Freewill Church in Bay City.
Ms. Shorter died Oct. 3, 2003, at Gulf Coast Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born Jan. 17, 1923, in Wharton County to Issac Shorter and Alberta Harris.
She had been a resident of Wharton for seven years. Ms. Shorter worked in domestic care and was Pentecostal by faith.
Survivors include sisters and brother-in-law, Lizzie B. Smith and Elnora and Augustine Bankston; brothers, L.M. Shorter and Clarence Shorter.
