Luther Taylor

Funeral services for Rev. Luther Taylor Jr., 76, of Wharton, will be held at 1 p.m. today, Saturday, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. A.J. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in New Prosperity Cemetery.

Rev. Taylor died Jan. 23, 2006, at El Campo Memorial Hospital. He was born March 28, 1929, in Wharton to Luther and Carrie Norman Taylor Sr.

Survivors include son, Patrick Taylor of Houston; daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and John Marks of Glen Flora, Debora Thomas of Spanish Campo, Marsha and Fredrick Johnson of Glen Flora, Henrietta and Larry Lathon of Wharton, Sherri Johnson of Egypt, Marylin and Jesse Johnson of Sorrel, Wanda and Harvey Taylor of Glen Flora and Timeka Taylor of Houston; brothers, Edward Taylor of Houston, Eddie Taylor of San Antonio, James Taylor of Houston and Elmo Taylor of Houston; sister, Eula Mae Stewart of Houston; 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Henriann Cox

Henriann “Ann” Cox, 69, daughter of the late Mattie Ann and Henry Zaliski, entered eternal life with the Lord on April 28, 2006.

She attended schools in Wisconsin, California, and Texas. Upon graduation from Iowa Park High School in June 1955, she graduated from Wichita General Hospital School of Nursing in August of 1958. She also attended Midwestern University and Texas Tech University. She has been a registered nurse since 1958.

Mrs. Cox worked at Lubbock Methodist Hospital for several years prior to returning to Iowa Park as a clinical instructor at Wichita General Hospital School of Nursing. She then entered public health nursing for Wichita County Public Health Department.
She moved to Victoria in 1974 and worked for Victoria County Health Department until her retirement in 1996. Ann and David moved to Bay City in January of 1997, where she became a member of the First Baptist Church of Boling.

Mrs. Cox enjoyed traveling, her retirement, working in her flower gardens, and loving and playing with her grandchildren and her great-grandson Zachary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zaliski; brother Fred R. Zaliski; and granddaughter, Natalie Nichole Cox.

She is survived by her husband, David F. Cox; son, David F. Cox II and wife Nancy; daughter, Lisa Ann Cox; grandchildren, Madeline Leigh Ann Cox, Jennifer Lynn Sparkman and spouse James Soefje, Leslie Ann Sparkman, Dustin Hodges, and Melissa Krause; great-grandchild, Zachary Thomas Soefje; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City, Methodist Hospital in Houston, American Home Patient in Bay City, and Angels Home Healthcare in Bay City. An individual thanks to Dr. Hanna, Dr. O’Dwyer, Dr. Rorig, and pharmacist Mike Muecke.
Visitation was held at Wharton Funeral Home on Sunday April 30, 2006 from 2 to 4 p.m. Services were held at First Baptist Church in Boling at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2006, with Rev. Skip Holman officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Wharton.

Serving as pallbearers were James Soefje, Dustin Hodges, Michael Bernhardt, Jay Powell, Joseph Coston and Hugh Vallely.

Memorials may be offered to the Ronald McDonald House in loving memory of Natalie Nichole Cox.

Wharton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dennis Ahlhorn
Funeral services for Dennis John Ahlhorn of East Bernard, will be held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wallis with Rev. Michael Holcomb officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Florida Chapel in Round Top.
Mr. Ahlhorn died Aug. 10, 2002, in El Campo. He was born Sept. 22, 1914, in Austin County, to John Alfred and Erna Ander Ahlhorn.
He was a teacher for 47 years. Mr. Ahlhorn taught school from 1934-1940 in Santa Anna School, 1940-1944 in Industry, 1944-1951 in Bernard Prairie School and 1951-1981 in the East Bernard Independent School District. Mr. Ahlhorn was preceded in death by his parents, John and Erna Ahlhorn, and his brother, Clarence Ahlhorn.
Survivors include wife of 64 years, Irene Kuhn Ahlhorn of Hillje, formerly of East Bernard; daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Ann Parma of Richmond and Myrna Lois and Kenneth Foster of Runge; sister, Bernice Buddenberg of Brenham; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mr. Ahlhorn’s name may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 218 N. 3rd Street, Wallis, Texas 77485.

Bessie Risinger
Funeral services for Bessie West Risinger, 94, of Houston and former longtime resident of Wharton, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Wharton City Cemetery.
Mrs. Risinger died Aug. 13, 2002, in Houston after an extended illness.
Friends may call for visitation from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at Wharton Funeral Home.

Billy Waller
Graveside funeral services and interment for Billy Joe Waller Jr., 39, of Houston, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Paul Thomasson officiating.
Mr. Waller died Thursday Aug. 8, 2002, in Houston. He was born on Sept. 25, 1962 in Wharton, the son of Billy Joe Waller Sr. and Louise Geraldine Kennedy Waller.
He was raised in Wharton and was a 1981 graduate of Wharton High School. Mr. Waller was a 22-year resident of Houston and worked as a former processing clerk for Allied Bank and the Federal Reserve. Most recently he was employed as a counselor for Texas House in Houston. He was Baptist by faith. Mr. Waller was preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe Waller Sr.
Survivors include his mother, Geraldine Waller of Eagle Lake; sister, Lisa Peevy of Eagle Lake; brothers, Jason Waller and John Waller, both of Eagle Lake; and grandmother, Ellen Kennedy of Eagle Lake.

Azerlee Wilson
Funeral services for Azerlee Wilson, 85, of Eagle Lake, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke’s Baptist Church in Elm Grove with Rev. Melvin Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Gooden-Hatton Funeral Home. Friends may call after 1 p.m. today.
Mrs. Wilson died Aug. 8, 2002, at Hermann Memorial Hospital Southwest. She was born Feb. 28, 1917, in Bonus to George and Laura Cooper Wilson.
Surviving is a niece, Stralecia Brewer of Eagle Lake.

Erma Burrow

Erma Virginia Burrow, age 80, of Wharton, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in Wharton. She was born on July 31, 1922 in Steubenville, Ohio, and was reared by her foster parents, Ed and Alice Peel.

Mrs. Burrow married Carl “Hud” Burrow on March 27, 1948, in El Centro, Calif. He preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 2000. She worked as a nurse for Texasgulf Sulfur and was the director of nurses for Wharton Manor Nursing and Convalescent Center prior to retiring in 1987. Mrs. Burrow was a former resident of Wheeling, W.V., and Newgulf. She had resided in Wharton since 1962. Mrs. Burrow formerly served on the Wharton County Junior College Board of Trustees and was Methodist by faith. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Thomasson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include daughter, Marcia Kutach of Wharton; foster brother, Ed Peel of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandsons and wives, Sean and Denice Bowers of El Campo and Chad and Rebecca Bowers of Wharton; and great-grandsons, Connery Bowers and Caden Bowers.

Pallbearers are Scott Chambers, Keith Brandt, Corbin Ferrell, Hank Hall, Brian Sotak, and Robbie Gonzales.

Honorary pallbearers are Bill Burrow, Jonathan Krenek, Charles Maurer, August Maurer, Lewis Marshall and all of her nephews.

If desiring, memorials may he made to the MD Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77030.

Roberta Haynes

Funeral services for Roberta Haynes, age 101, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Saturday, at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. L.C. Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow in Wharton City Cemetery.
Mrs. Haynes was born April 1, 1901, in Rosenberg. She died Sept. 25, 2002, at Avalon Place.

Survivors include son, Willie Haynes Jr. of Wharton; 10 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Milton Kazmir

Funeral Mass for Milton H. Kazmir Sr., 74, of Hungerford and formerly of Burleson County, will be held at 10 a.m. today, Saturday, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin and Rev. Henry Rachunek officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of VFW Post No. 4458 of Caldwell. A rosary was be recited Friday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mr. Kazmir died Dec. 22, 2003, at Carriage Inn Retirement Community in Bryan. He was born July 26, 1929, in Burleson County to Edward J. and Stella Matus Kazmir.

He was a medically retired U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a retired dry wall contractor. Mr. Kazmir was a life member of VFW, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He was a Member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Hungerford and 3rd degree in the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jesse Floyd Kazmir; a brother Alvin Kazmir and a sister, Lydia Supak.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Kay Krenek of Hungerford; sons and daughter-in-law, Milton H. and Regina Kazmir Jr. of Bryan and Edward John Kazmir of Sugar Land; daughters and son-in-law, Elizabeth Kazmir and Renita Morse, both of Caldwell, and Kelly and Omar Akshar of College Station; brother and sister-in-law, Edward J. and Debbie Kazmir of Houston; sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence and Adolph Provasek of Caldwell, Mildred Lorea of Dover, Del., and Joyce and Bill Tabor of Paducah, Ken., and 11 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to a charity of personal choice.

Joyce Nichols

Funeral services for Joyce Irene Nichols, 70, of Louise, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Saturday, at Wheeler Funeral Home in El Campo with Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in El Campo.

Mrs. Nichols died Dec. 23, 2003, in Houston. She was born Feb. 6, 1933, in Danevang to the late Robert and Alberta Olson Rasmussen.

She was a retired nurse from Gulf Coast Medical Center and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 535 in El Campo.

Survivors include daughter, Debbie Schoelman of El Campo; son, Bobby Nichols of El Campo; brother, Melvin Rasmussen of El Campo; one grandchild, three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Patrick Rasmussen.
If desiring, memorials may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Lorrain Coleman

Funeral services for Lorrain Coleman, 39, of El Campo, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in El Campo. Burial will follow in El Campo City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.

Mrs. Coleman died Aug. 20, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center. She was born Sept. 2, 1965, in El Campo to Jessie Lee Roberts and Gloria Chestnut.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her parents, Jessie Lee Roberts and Gloria Baylor; daughters, Stephanie Curry, Leroyia Davis and Shanice Davis; sons, Leroy Davis Jr. and Freddy Coleman; siblings, Gloria Roberts, Irma Roberts, Marie Desso, Janet Williams, Debra Terry and Linda Turner.

Mary Garcia

Funeral services for Mary Ellen Garcia, 61, of El Campo, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Assembly of God in El Campo. Burial will follow in La Colonial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Assembly of God.

Mrs. Garcia died Aug. 25, 2004, at Garden Villa Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 10, 1942, in Edna to Jesus Rodriguez and Anita Rojas.

She was a housewife.

Survivors include husband, Richard Garcia; daughters, Brenda Lea and Diana Macias; sons, Robert Garcia, Michael Garcia, Rene Garcia and Richard Garcia Jr.; siblings, Doris Ramirez, Joe Rodriguez, Jesse Rodriguez, Johnny Rodriguez and Milio Rodriguez; and 16 grandchildren.

Maurine Laurenson

Maurine Rand Laurenson, age 91, of Wharton, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2002, in Wharton. She was born on Sept. 1, 1911 in Marshall, the daughter of the late Aubrey Russell Rand and Roxie May Rand.

Mrs. Laurenson was a former longtime resident of Kingwood before moving to Wharton in the spring of 2002. She was a homemaker and Episcopal by faith. She married Robert Frank Laurenson on Aug. 21, 1942, in Wilmington, N.C. He preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1998.

Following cremation, memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, William Rand and Diane Hooper Laurenson of Wharton and Robert Rand and Bettie Carol Laurenson of Kingwood; sister, Margaret Wall of Conroe; grandchildren, Benjamin Rand Laurenson, Bradley Rand Laurenson and wife, Kim, Christopher Rand Laurenson and wife, Christine, and Blair Carol Rand Laurenson and great-grandson, Joshua Le Rand Laurenson. She was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Henry.

Fermin Patina

Graveside services for Fermin Patina, 54, of West Palm Beach, Fla., were held Monday at Wharton City Cemetery with Father Raymond Jackson officiating.

Mr. Patina died Sept. 17, 2002, in West Palm Beach, Fla., after a sudden illness. He was born on Feb. 29, 1948, in Wharton to Joe Garcia and Mary Ida Aleman Patina.

He was a construction worker in West Palm Beach, Fla., for the past 16 years and was a former resident of Wharton. Mr. Patina married Dominga Gallegos on May 31, 1965, in East Bernard. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Patina was Catholic by faith.

Survivors include his wife, Dominga Patina; daughters, Lucia Andrade, Melinda Patina, Sally Patina and Linda Patina, all of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sons, Fermin Patina Jr. and Joe Patina, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; mother, Mary Patina of Rock Island; sisters, Emma Vasquez of Los Fresnos, Josie Ruiz of Eagle Lake, Mary Solis of Rock Island, Dolores Estrada of Sheridan, Janie Lucio of Pharr and Brenda Patina of Grand Prairie; brother, Lupe Patina of Rosenberg; and nine grandchildren.
