Wilkes Dornwell
Graveside Services for Wilkes W. Dornwell Jr., 82, of Wharton, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, at Houston National Cemetery.
Mr. Dornwell died Aug. 20, 2004, in Carlyss, La. He was a native of La Grange.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in World War II, The Korean Conflict and The Vietname War. Mr. Dornwell retired as a staff sergeant.
Survivors include daughter, Charlene Neal of Carlyss, La.; son, Wilkes W. Dornwell III of McDade; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dornwell.

Lerline Johnson
Funeral services for Lerline Johnson, 93, of Wharton, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at New Faith Church. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson died Aug. 20, 2004, at Gulf Coast Medical Center. She was born Dec. 25, 1910, to Tom Francis and Lucinda McDonald.
Survivors include daughter, Ruby Lee Simmons; sibling, Perline Jackson of Wharton; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

Alvin Rieger
Alvin Leon Rieger, age 85, of Wharton, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in a Wharton hospital following a brief illness. He was born on March 4, 1919, in East Bernard, the son of the late Leon Alvin Rieger and Ella Emily Janssen Rieger.
Mr. Rieger had been a lifelong resident of Wharton County and was raised in the Taiton Community. He was a resident of Newgulf before moving to Wharton in 1962. Mr. Rieger married Lorraine Frances Waligura on June 7, 1943, in Nada, and she preceded him in death on June 27, 1987. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Schoellman. Mr. Rieger started working with Texasgulf Sulphur on Jan. 31, 1941, and worked as a time keeper and later as an accounting supervisor until his retirement on July 1, 1982. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton. Mr. Rieger was a part-time rancher, loved gardening and enjoyed playing dominos and watching the Astros.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Deacon Alvin Matthys officiating. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in El Campo.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Jeb Blair of Madisonville; sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Sherra Rieger of Friendswood and Dr. Lloyd and Dona Rieger of Uvalde; grandchildren, Kelcey Rieger, Jett Miller, Jason and Jeremy Rieger and James Blair IV and Joel Blair; and his dearest friend, Edna Kacal, of Wharton.
Pallbearers were Jett Miller, Jason Rieger, Jeremy Rieger, James Blair IV, Joel Blair and Ted Schoenfield.
In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to Holy Family Catholic Church Building Fund, 2011 Briar Lane, Wharton, TX 77488.
Amelia Salazar
Amelia Salazar, age 64, of Wharton, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, in Wharton. She was born on Sept. 9, 1939, in San Benito, the daughter of the late Mariano Ovalle and Apolonia Gallegos Ovalle.
Mrs. Salazar lived in Wharton for most of her life. She was a former 10-year resident of Richmond before moving back to Wharton in 2001. Mrs. Salazar was employed as a sales clerk with K-Woolens and Bottom Dollar in Wharton and most recently Wal-Mart in Rosenberg. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton. Mrs. Salazar was a very devoted mother and caretaker of her family pet, Tiny.
Funeral mass services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with Rev. Raymond Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Rosary services were held Monday evening at Wharton Funeral Home.
Survivors include her son, Robert R. Salazar of Wharton; sisters, Alicia Rodriguez and husband, Jerry, of Wharton, Aurora Bergera and husband, Reyes, of Hungerford; brothers, Arturo Oballe and wife, Emilia, of Wharton, Abel Ovalle and wife, Patsy, of Wharton; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbeares were Jerry Rodriguez, Jerry Rodriguez Jr., Mariano Ovalle, Jaime Ovalle, Reyes Bergera and Rey Adam Bergera.

Funeral services for Elizabeth Michna, 90, of Wharton, are pending at Wharton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Michna died Aug. 6, 2002, in Wharton.
Yvonne Morrison
Lillian Yvonnne Morrison, age 78, of Wharton, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, Gulf Coast Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born on Sept. 20, 1923, in Smiley, the daughter of the late Albert Hale Whiddon and Etta Mae Murphree Whidbon.
Mrs. Morrison had been a resident af Wharton since 1930 and was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. She married Cecil Jim Morrison on Oct. 11, 1946, in Wharton and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1967. She worked as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone for 41 1/2 years until her retirement on Dec. 18, I983. One of her favorite past-times was going to garage sales.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Don Hurley officiating. Burial followed in the Wharton City Cemetery.
Survivors include her sister, Polly Dalton of Wharton; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers were her nephews and great-nephews Pat Parsons, Burlon Parsons, Shawn Parsons, Travis Parsons, Lee Parsons and David Whaley.
Honorary pallbearers were great-nephews Christopher Krenek, Aaron Mowels and Patrick Parsons.

Edward Hession
Funeral services for Edward Thomas Hession, 57, of Boling, were held Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville with Pastor Fred Banda officiating the services. Interment followed at Needville Public Cemetery in Needville.
Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at the chapel of Hernandez Funeral Home, 800 4th Street in Rosenberg.
Mr. Hession was born Nov. 15, 1945, in New Orleans, La., and passed away Dec. 28, 2002, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton. He is preceded in death by his father Emil Lee Krobot.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Etta Hession; children, Deni Pietsch and fiancee John McKay, Patricia Bishop and husband Curtis, Irene and Ron Otto, Anita Kelly and Tommy Lee Hession; mother, Dorthy Krobot of Wharton; sisters, Phylis and Mike McHaney, Jackie Strickland and husband Jimmy; brothers, Gary Krobot and wife Lou, Robby Krobot and fiancee Linda White; and 13 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ron Otto, Curtis Bishop, John McKay, Devon Pietsch, Dalton Pietsch, Jay Otto, Gary Krobot and Robby Krobot.
Honorary pallbearers were Noel Garcia, David Natho, Charles Ridenhour and Shane Patterson.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hernandez Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
Carmen Mendez
Funeral services for Carmen Mendez, 83, of Sweeny, were held Thursday at St. John’s Catholic Church with Rev. Lee Flores officiating. Burial followed in Sweeny Cemetery. Rosary services were held Wednesday at Baker Chapel in West Columbia.
Mrs. Mendez died Jan. 6, 2003, in Houston. She was born Jan. 13, 1919, in Lane City to Lucas and Petra Herrera.
She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sweeny.
Survivors include sons, Ray Mendez of Sweeny, Richard Mendez of Bay City, Larry Mendez of Wharton and Albert Mendez Sr. of El Campo; daughter, Rosa Linda Mendez of Sweeny; sister, Anita Mendez of Houston; 25 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucas and Petra Herrera; husband, Felipe Mendez; brothers, Juan and Felicano Herrera; sisters, Socorro Hernandez, Trinidad De La Rosa and Maria Erevia; and daughter, Janie Pena.
Pallbearers were Joe Garcia, Adam Garcia Jr., Chris Mendez, John Mendez, Albert Mendez Jr., Joe Mendez Jr., Larry Mendez Jr. and Richard Mendez Jr.

TraEyisha Pierré-Blackmon
Funeral services for TraEyisha Miraclé Drenaé Pierré-Blackmon, one-year-old, of Houston, will be held at 1 p.m. today, Saturday, at Riceville Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor J.D. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Riceville Cemetery in Houston.
TraEyisha died Jan. 5, 2003, at Northwest Medical Center in Houston. She was born Sept. 30, 2001, to Tracy Dianne Blackmon and Andre Pierré.
Survivors include her sisters Terrioncia Blackmon and Tiara Blackmon.

Reece Stinson
Funeral services for Reece Stinson, 76, of Wharton, will be held in Dallas.
Mr. Stinson died Jan. 7, 2003, at his residence. He was born Oct. 31, 1926, in Huntington Beach, Calif., to Kenneth Stinson and Mabel Briscoe.
He had been a Wharton resident for 32 years and was self-employed. Mr. Stinson was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include daughters, Paula Stinson and Deborah Stinson; sons, Kenneth Stinson and Peter Stinson; brother, Allen Stinson; and six grandchildren.

Bill Thrasher
Bill Thrasher, 76, who passed away Jan. 5, 2003, is survived by his wife Grace; their sons, Glenn and Carl; grandchildren, Tami, Ryan and Cody; his brother, Elwin Thrasher; sister, Muriel Lawhon; and other extended family members.
Memorial Services will he held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Christ Episcopal Church in Matagorda.

L.B. Brown
Funeral services for L.B. Brown, 86, of Wharton, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. L.C. Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow in New Mount Olive Cemetery in Mackay.
Mr. Brown died Sept. 12, 2003, at his residence. He was born March 30, 1917, in Pierce to James and Viola Anderson Brown Sr.
He was a lifelong resident of Wharton and worked as a porter for Texaco Oil for 37 years.
Survivors include sisters, Frankie Mangum and Dorthy Randle, both of Wharton, Leola Davidson and Armathia Young, both of Houston; and brother, Elmo Phillips of Houston. He was preceded in death by his sister, Essie Phillips; and brothers, Leroy Brown, Louis Brown, Willie Brown and James Brown Jr.

Lucile Elliott
Lucile Reid Elliott, age 83, of Wharton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, in a local hospital. She was born May 18, 1920, in Bay City, the daughter of Pierce Reid and Nellie Hood Reid.
She lived in Glen Flora until her family moved to Wharton when she was 10. Mrs. Elliott was a graduate of Wharton High School and attended Texas Women’s University. She married James Bickham Elliott on June 1, 1940, in Fulshear. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2001. Mrs. Elliott was a former resident of Newgulf for 20 years and a former member of the Newgulf First United Methodist Church, where she served as church secretary for many years. She was a Girl Scout leader and loved to paint and play the piano. Mrs. Elliott was a Wharton resident since 1964 and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wharton.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 14, at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Wharton with Rev. Paul Thomasson officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ellen Martin of Wharton and Lorena Siesennop and husband, Jon, of Warsaw, Ind.; grandchildren, Jesse Martin and wife, Stephanie, Rachel Siesennop, Micah Siesennop and Elizabeth Siesennop; nephews, Jack Reid of Summerfield, N.C., George P. Reid Jr. of Austin and nieces, Jean Severn of Austin and Margaret Reid Kersting of Georgia. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Reid and George Reid.
