Jo Ayers, 75, of Jasper died April 9, 2000 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper. Visitation will be from noon Wednesday to time of service at the funeral home.

A native of Port Arthur, she lived in Groves before moving to Jasper 23 years ago.

Survivors include her husband, Harrison Ayers Jr. of Jasper; son, Andy "Ace’’ Ayers of Silsbee; daughter, Jolynda Loeb of China; sister, Dorothy Rowland of Austin; and five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jasper Public Library, 175 Water St., Jasper, Texas 75951.

MARY BAILEY

Mary Bailey, 52, of Lumberton died April 8, 2000 at her residence.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home with burial at Beaumont Haven of Rest Cemetery.

A native of Beaumont, she lived in Lumberton 17 years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include daughters, Elizabeth Harper of Boaz, Ala., and Cherrie Lea Ann Collins of Mustang, Okla.; sister, Mamie Ann Aylor of Vidor; brother, William "Billy’’ Wesley Lea Jr.; and six grandchildren.

JOHNNIE ‘J.L.’ BENNETT

Johnnie "J.L.’’ Bennett, 80, of Longville, La., died April 9, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Pentecostal Church in Longville with burial at Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley, La., under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder, La. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m. Wednesday to time of service at the church.

A lifelong resident of Longville, he was owner and operator of J.L. Trucking Co. and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn A. Bennett of Longville; daughters, Mary Lou Lindsey of Longville, Jimmie L. Hennigan of Orange and Nancy Smith of Porter; son, J.L. "Bill’’ Bennett Jr. of Longville; brothers, George H. Bennett and Elbert O. Bennett, both of Longville; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

TELESHIA CHATLIN

Teleshia Chatlin, 19, of Beaumont died April 5, 2000 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Gospel Church with burial at Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Mortuary. A quiet hour will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

She was a lifelong resident of Beaumont.

Survivors include her father, Wilbert Chatlin Sr. of Beaumont; mother, Kathy Kelly Chatlin of Beaumont; grandparents, Junior and Leontine Chatlin of Beaumont, and Thelma Jones of Los Angeles; sister, Alexis Chatlin of Beaumont; and brothers, Wilbert Chatlin Jr. and Bobby Chatlin, both of Beaumont, and LeMon Raythone Chatlin of Philadelphia, Pa.

DOROTHY MAE WISE CRAFTON

Dorothy Mae Wise Crafton, 69, of Jean, Nev., died April 8, 2000 in Las Vegas.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur.

A native and former longtime resident of Port Arthur, she lived in Nevada four years.

Survivors include her sister, Shirley Lawrence of Port Arthur.

M.H. CRAIG

M.H. Craig, 87, of Toledo Bend died April 9, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Burkeville United Methodist Church under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Chapel in Burkeville under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

A native of Edna and a former resident of Westlake, La., he lived in Toledo Bend 24 years and was a retired pipeline superintendent for United Gas Pipeline Co.

Survivors include his wife, Reba Craig of Toledo Bend; sons, Leroy Craig of Memphis, Tenn., and Thomas Craig of Hattiesburg, Miss.; daughters, Frances Wagener of Mobile, Ala., and Renda Walter of Magnolia; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Methodist Home for Children, 1111 Herring Ave., Waco, Texas 76708.

JAMES R. CUSKELLY

James R. Cuskelly, 83, of Newton died April 9, 2000 at Timberlake Nursing Center in Jasper.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Smith Funeral Home in Newton with burial at Ford Cemetery.

A native of Manning, S.D., he lived in Newton 21 years, was retired from Owens-Illinois in California and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Maudy V. Cuskelly of Newton; son, Richard W. Cuskelly of Paramount, Calif.; daughter, Kathleen Tai of Ontario, Calif.; brother, Donald Cuskelly of Palm Desert, Calif.; sisters, Dorothy Schuldt of Downey, Calif., Margarette Smith of Palm dale, Calif., and Patricia Beaver of Redding, Calif.; stepson, Jimmy Smith of Newton; stepdaughter, Glenda Seely of Newton; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

YANCY DURDEN

Yancy Durden, 72, of Port Arthur died April 9, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Nederland with burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Nederland. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the mortuary.

A native of Monroe, La., he lived in Port Arthur 10 years and was a retired mail carrier for West Monroe Postal Service.

Survivors include his wife, Rhoda Durden of Port Arthur; daughter, Debbie Black of Nederland; sons, Carl Durden of Nederland and Ken Durden of Frisco; sisters, Beverly de la Bretonne of Amarillo and Mary Teal of Ann Arbor, Mich.; brother, Robert Durden of Monroe; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund.

LOTUS HALE

Lotus Hale, 96, of Orange died April 10, 2000 at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation in Pinehurst.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Ava, Mo., she lived in Orange 57 years and was a teacher, cafeteria manager and homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth "Bettie’’ Morrow of Vidor; sons, James William Hale and John Riley Hale, both of Houston; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Orange.

LAWRENCE HARDIN SR.

Lawrence Hardin Sr., 38, of Orange died April 7, 2000 in East Texas from a logging accident.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Power of Praise Christian Center in Orange with burial at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Memorial Chapel in Orange. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the center.

A native and longtime resident of Orange, he was a logging contractor.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Batchan of Orange; sons, Lawrence Hardin Jr. and Jalen Hardin, both of Orange; daughter, Ebony Hardin of Orange; father, L.C. Hardin of Oakhurst; mother, Rose Hardin of Orange; brothers, Christopher Hardin and Jesse Hardin, both of Fort Worth; and sisters, Barbara Feathers, Linda Hardin and Stephanie Hardin, all of Orange.

PAUL JOHNSON

Paul Johnson, 70, of West Fort, Ark., died April 8, 2000 in Marshall.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Starks Pentecostal Church in Starks, La., under the direction of Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy, La. Visitation will be today at the church.

A native and former resident of Starks, he lived in West Fort and was a naval aviator, serving the U.S. Marine Corps and Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Madeline Johnson of West Fort; son, Ted Morgan of Bosnia; daughters, Christie Morgan of San Diego and Laura Jones of Woodland Park, Colo.; brothers, Jesse Johnson of New Orleans, Lester Johnson of Shreveport, La., and Samuel Ray Johnson of Starks; sisters, Rubye Rackley and Pauline Collins, both of DeRidder, La., and Margaret Gillis of Starks.

DOUGLAS EDWARD McKINNON

Douglas Edward McKinnon, 73, of Kirbyville died April 10, 2000 at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at E.E Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Bean Cemetery in Kirbyville. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A lifelong resident of Kirbyville, he was a truck driver and a Korean War U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include sons, Robert McKinnon, Preston McKinnon and David McKinnon, all of Kirbyville and Dana McKinnon of Woodville; daughters, Keena Berry of Kirbyville and Bertha E. Parker of Call; brothers, Wiley McKinnon, Fred McKinnon, James McClendon, Johnny McClendon, and Robert McClendon, all of Kirbyville, and J.W. McClendon of Buna; sisters, Velma Bolton of Cold Springs, Thelma Smith of Silsbee and Jeanette Moore of Kirbyville; and nine grandchildren.

LAURA MAE McRIGHT

Laura Mae McRight, 86, of Bridge City died April 8, 2000 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Orange Hospital.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Bridge City with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Visitation was Sunday at the funeral home.

A native of Cherry Valley, Ark., she lived in the Orange and Bridge City area 55 years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include daughters, Bobbie Harvey and Peggy Minner, both of Bridge City; sons, Tommy McRight of Calhan, Colo. and Gary McRight of Bridge City; sister, Minnie Sue Norvel of Gillington, Tenn.; brothers, Desmond Riley of Wynne, Ark. and Leon Riley of Cherry Valley; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

JAMES STEPHEN ‘STEVE’ MOORE

James Stephen "Steve’’ Moore, 30, of Lumberton died April 9, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Crestwood Baptist Church in Lumberton with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

A native of Evadale, he lived in Lumberton a number of years and was a youth minister for Crestwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Melissa Moore of Lumberton; parents, Jerry and Jean Moore of Evadale; daughter, Lindsey Michelle Moore of Lumberton; brother, Kenneth Ray Moore of Evadale; and sister, Gina Marie Tatom of Vidor.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crestwood Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 8420, Lumberton, Texas 77657.

DELILAH ‘BONES’ NORRIS

Delilah "Bones’’ Norris, 40, of Conroe died April 7, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton with burial at Norris Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Liberty, she lived in Cleveland before moving to Conroe two years ago.

Survivors include her husband, Glen Norris of Conroe; sisters, Martha Duff and Mary Duff, both of Liberty, Philis Dugas of Tarkington and Brenda Turner of Cleveland; and brothers, Hershal Bagwell Jr. and Clayton Bagwell, both of Cleveland.
